OBAMA PLAYING GOLF ... CALM DOWN, FOLKS!

Splashed all over the news lately have been reports of President Obama's golfing habits.  The reports say that Obama has already played as much golf in his first nine months as President Bush did in over two years.

Who gives a flying fornication?  It's a tough job.  This particular president is doing an abysmal job at it .. but it's tough.  I have no problem with PrezBO playing golf.  It's a game that teaches honor ... maybe some if it will rub off.

By the way ... as long as the media is pointing out the difference between Bush's visits to the links and Obama's ... maybe it would be nice to remind the people that Bush said that he didn't particularly want the Commander in Chief to be on the golf course while troops were fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.

What others are saying

  • How soon we forget ...
... that while Bush may have cut out golf in support of "the troops," he had no problem jetting out to Crawford every chance he got to hang out on his ranch. Don't really see the difference. If I remember correctly, Ford played a lot of golf, Bush Sr. spent many a weekend at Camp David and Clinton ... well, I can only guess what he was doing. Fact is, the President played golf 24 times this year ... that's twice a month, maybe totaling 100 hrs. I imagine he spends that amount of time EVERY WEEK working. I'm sure W, Bush Sr. and Clinton did as well. Just nitpicking on both sides of the isle. Sheesh. This is such a non-news item.

How about we focus on something, like, I don't know, EDUCATION. I teach at the college level and I have to say that the quality student walking into my classes is really a sad and striking indictment of how poorly our schools are operating. The education system is failing our children every day. It gets worse year to year. I have students in my classes who are illiterate. It's awful. When are people going to stop following the media bait and focus on REAL issues here. It drives me crazy. Folks will get bent out of shape about the President's golf outings, but can't recognize that their children are completely under-educated and ill-prepared for adult life. Wake up, people!
  • Peeing up a rope??
Golfing did absolutely nothing for Clinton's 'character'.
    Expect the same result here.
  • Lay off the Guy!
After all that hard work he was awarded the Masters. He did deserve it after all.

Man:"Who's your hero son?" Son:"Obama, everybody's hero, millions of people couldn't buy healthcare or even tie their shoes without Obama, I heard he turned a loaf of bread into 500 Big Macs at the Acorn Party."
  • Obama's golfing
Neil, I agree with you that it's no big deal about the golfing habits of PrezBo; but on an interesting side note: What's the one thing that people remember when presented with the name NERO? They remember that "Nero fiddled while Rome burned." ?Obama golfed while America burned?
  • @ Chris from Houston
I think you've earned my most disrespectful comment thus far of my mutli-year postings on this forum, so I apologize ahead of time for a cliche and boring statement of disgust:

    Gag me. Please.

I'm of the opinion that the less prayer and goddishnes there is in a place of supreme responsibility, the better we are. We need logic, rationality, and reason in the Presidency, not faith and gut-thinking. The last thing we need is another clown that says 'God told me to do this' as was the case with Bush and Iraq. Truman dropped two A-bombs and vaporized hundereds of thousands of people instantly, and took responsibility for it, and explained the rationale. He didn't offload that responsibility on his imaginary friend.
Truman was a real man, a real President, who made difficult decisions and was accountable to them.

Bush was not nearly as awesome. Though, he did use the term 'dead or alive' which was cool ...but we didn't get the follow-through.

    Way to go.
  • what about ranch time?
"... maybe it would be nice to remind the people that Bush said that he didn't particularly want the Commander in Chief to be on the golf course while troops were fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan."

I agree Neal. The golf thing is unimportant. But, if the right really wants to criticize the president, and do so in a "fair and balanced" way, they should mention all the days Bush spent away from the white house compared to Obama. How many weeks on end he spent clearing brush on the ranch, managing our nation during a time of war via faxes and the interwebs. Bush also spent more time bicycling than Obama term-to-date I bet, so are we going to start hearing how Obama is promoting bad health with his anti-exercise agenda? ...seriously, where is the real news?
  • body counts in Afghanistan
Neal, post that every day till he makes up his mind what he's going to do!

    klubber lang = squirrel

Hey KL, have I got a game for you!!!!
  • Gavin Volaire carrying the fascist water
Instead of making an argument one way or the other, Gavin Volaire does the same thing he accuses the GOP of doing. It is obvious that the press is reporting differently for Obama than for Bush. Whether it be spending, special interests, limits on personal liberty, freedom of information, the wars or golf, an action that was criticized under Bush is reported in the most positive light and even praised with obama.
  • @gavin voltaire (liberal bedwetter)
You're a piece of work. For 8 years during GW's tenure we heard nothing but crap out of you. When George W. Bush was in office, the MSM conducted a daily body count (of American troops, not the enemy) and vilified him when he took time off. They kept close tabs on the fluctuating economy, but not on the success in Iraq and Afghanistan. They monitored his speeches for mispronunciation and portrayed him as stupid.

    Speaking of apolgists:

With Obama… not one word. They still think Obamessiah is the world’s Lord and Savior. He can do no wrong. The MSM is still drooling over this incompetent, socialist milksop.
Chrissy Matthews still gets a “tingle up his leg”. The White House emails a “correction” to MSNBC’s Mika Brezinsky in the middle of a conversation, and she complies. They suppress reports about his background, friends, associates, and czars, that reveal his radical proclivities. They spiked the stories on ACORN corruption, and serve as a buffer for unflattering news.

You can go back to playing with yourself, now.
  • Who cares?
I don't care, either. I just want the left-wing MSM to pillory Yobama the same way they did Bush every time he peed.
  • GOP babies
Some of you GOPS apologists are just pathetic. Someone brings up something they didn't like about the Bush administration and you morons jump on the sarcastic "it's all Bush's fault" card -- as if that somehow dismisses the complaint against him. But where are all of you little GOP cheerleaders when one of your own cries that the MSM ripped Bush for golfing but is silent when Obama does it.

So it's ok to bring up Bush as long as it is only to play the victim card? wah wah wah babies...
  • My Plan
    1. send Prezbo to HugoLand to play golf
    2. Let BN and SFC MAC handle Afagninstan
  • Waste of Time and Money
Here's my beef with this... I knew he wasn't going to do squat for the economy, but I have a huge problem with him being a man of leisure when our troops are overseas dying with minimal support from our "leaders" who've sent them there.

I have even more of a problem with the waste of taxpayer dollars for his entourage to guard him on these mini vacations he's taking to play. If he wants to pay out of his own pocket, so be it.

Additionally, if you're going to kill me with a public option health system - I expect you to write and read it, instead of a damn golf score card.

But hey, since they're just handing him awards he hasn't earned... since he's playing all this golf, guess they'll be handing him a Masters trophy and jacket next.
  • A Disgrace
Word is that is golf game is like his bowling game. Bowled what 37. Golf 37, then moved on to the 2nd hole.
  • I Wish
Other than giving the impression that he is fiddling while the nation burns, I don't mind him playing golf & partying with rock stars -- hell that's the ONLY time he isn't doing any damage.

I just wish that he would delegate the duties that aren't getting done (like making decisions on Afghanistan) to an adult -- if he can find one in his administration. Leave an adult in charge & he can party until he drops as far as I care.
  • golf????
one thing to say about osamabamas golf game...............

    HE CHEATS!!!!
  • Golf
But when you ad his dinner trips to NYC, his multiple short vacations, his parties and the like you can understand why even the Left has begun to realize he is a Do-Nothing. Perhaps that is because his only experiencing is in "organizing" protestors.
  • "Where's the outrage?"
You know, playing golf is not a big deal. The big deal is further on down the Nuze in the "Where's the outrage?" link. Prezbo plays golf, basketball, throws White House parties, vacations and takes more trips than any of his predecessors at the same time that the can barely cut out 25 minutes in 9 months for the guys running the war in Afghanistan. THAT'S whats wrong. Instead of chilling on the golf course, he ought to reading one of those 1500 page health care overhaul bills that he has vowed to sign. Just as important, though, is the reaction by the MSM.

This is how they treated GWB on the matter:
    -------------------------------------

On Aug. 5, 2002, The Washington Post wrote about President Bush golfing near his parents’ home in Kennebunkport, Maine. Under the headline “Before Golf, Bush Decries Latest Deaths in Mideast,” staff writer Mike Allen described Bush as he “sprang from his golf cart at 6:15 a.m. and said he was distressed to hear about the latest suicide bombers in Israel.”

“Bush, wearing khakis and a knit shirt, was holding a driver in his gloved left hand,” Allen wrote.

“However incongruous the setting, the president plunged ahead,” Allen wrote.

“There are a few killers who want to stop the peace process that we have started, and we must not let them,” he [Bush] said. “I call upon all nations to do everything they can to stop these terrorist killers.”

“His business out of the way,” Allen wrote, “Bush barely paused for breath before saying, ‘Thank you. Now watch this drive.’”

    -------------------------------------

With Bush, it was a daily body count and harassment any time he took time off. With Obama... not a word. If nobody brings attention to Prezbo's antics and reminds us all how GWB was treated, nobody sees the left slant of Main Stream Media.

Frankly, Presidents DO deserve time to decompress. They also deserve equal treatment by the supposed unbiased news media. Until every liberal rag runs their story slamming Prezbo and giving daily body counts due to his inaction in Afghanistan (and those bodies dying now are NOT the fault of GWB), then the rest of the world has to be vocal about it.
  • Obama golfs instead of leads
Not that he has any leadership qualities, anyway. As far as the "honor rubbing off", don't bet on it.
Bush was right; the Commander in Chief should not be on the links, or globe-trotting for apology tours and American “image makeovers”, while American troops are fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. But THE ONE does have his priorities.
  • Obama and Golf
Big Whoop. He's probably played more basketball than Bush, but probably has run fewer miles than Bush. I agree with Boortz on this one. Who gives a flip?
  • My problem isn't with the President playing golf, it's with the obvious double standards between parties.
Nothing to dwell on, but it should be mentioned in passing often, until a single standard is decided on for both, and kept.

It's a quick easy way to point out a hypocrisy of the dp and bias in the msm that goes beyond any minimum standard of credibility. Any American with a memory longer than the last 2 Presidents can see it's wrong and ridiculous in under two minutes.

The dp/msm will keep hitting the same things until it hurts them more than their target. I'm all for making it hurt them, especially when they make it so easy.
  • A good walk - ruined!
    - attributed to a dead wise guy named Sam Clemens.

If he's playing golf he won't be screwing up?

De spiro, spero! (as I breathe, I hope - some long dead Roman wise guy)
  • Obama Golf
I don't care if he plays golf all day long. My problem is the fact that the press harped on Bush for his golf and gives Obama a free pass.

If Bush's golf was bad, then Obama's golf is much worse since he has played as many rounds in just a few months as compared to Bush's 2 1/2 years.

Just be fair is all I ask.
  • A game that teaches honor...
Now I am wondering how many strokes Obutthead records on his scorecard versus his ACTUAL number of strokes. I'd bet you a bucket of The Colonels spicy chicken wings those numbers are as bogus as the rest of the numbers he swears to.

    Anybody know what 'O' shoots?
  • Golf
I always felt Golf should be outlawed, Just watch those duffers walking around in those goofy clothes and you will agree.
  • Perks you can believe in
Why the Hell not? It gives him a chance to think away from the fray. If I had to deal with Pelosi and that bunch of nutsacks in Congress, I'd do it every chance I got. I will stand up for the man on this point. I'll bet he hasn't hit anyone with a ball yet either.
  • Golf
Excessive golf, basketball, and charity fundraisers are harbingers of a failed president.

Neal's dismissal of this is contrary to his intuition.
  • Obama Golfing
What I find extremely disturbing is that Obama has played 24 rounds of golf in 9 months. If I do the math here: 9 months x 4 weeks = 36 weeks therefore, he plays golf almost once per week which takes about 4 hours. Tough job or not, he asked for this job. This is just one more notch that can be counted on how he is such a complete HYPOCRITE. Spending tax payer dollars at an alarming rate and then telling bankers, execs and others that they make too much. What a complete moron.
  • Golf
I agree with Stan. Golf is an outdoor game of the mind and we all know Obama likes to challenge with his intellectual. People don't get much smarter than Obama, so he needs to go out there and relax. As for Bush, he was an idiot and was to dumb to play golf so he didn't bother because he was stupid and not smart like Obama. Obama's the smartest man in the world.
  • It's not about the golf...
I agree about the president needing an outlet...it's a tough job with high stress and I don't have a fundamental problem with golf as the activity to provide that stress relief. Where I have a problem is the 100 or so hours he's spent on a leisure activity compared to the time the Teleprompter-in-Chief's spent with his military commanders, or the feet dragging on a decision on A'stan to figure out if his lunatic base are going to tar and feather him for sending more troops into the region. It's disgusting and embarrassing to think that soldiers are dying in theater while he reads polls to determine if more military involvement in the war will cost the Dems the governor's office in VA and NJ. Cynical? You bet. Inaccurate? Doubtful.
  • You should know
Neal, you should know any sport as classy as golf crybaby conservatives will not like. They prefer Nascar or hunting for squirrels
  • Sweet Government Position
I work with the Government. Except, as my career has taken me into greater positions of responsibility, my work has actually gotten more stressful, and I have less time to goof off.

I'm glad to see that at the even higher levels the stress can be cleared off with "On the Job" games like golf. And a lot of golf. (And dallying with girls with blue dresses. Let's not forget that. Doesn't take a genius to spot the stress relieving potentiality of that game.)

Sign me up for that career track. Upper Echelon, here we come!

(Just don't tell the taxpayers. It'll be our little secret.)
  • Stress of the Presidency
Some presidents chose to pray and ask God for patience, guidance and direction. Obama choses Golf. This explains the State of our Union.
  • Gotta say it
With all the Obama photos of b-ball, golf, dancing, partying, "jetting"; and campaigning against American citizens, businesses, talk radio, cable news and free speech when does this man actually do anything reminiscent of governing or consulting his military leaders for more than 25 minutes?
Apparently, that is left to the FAR LEFT. the New England Snobs and the Chicago Thugocracy. Pathetic Example of a president with a "Max Headroom Ego" and a Thin but Teflon skin.
  • Obama Golf
The issue isn't that Obama is playing golf in a time of war as much as it is another illustration of the double standard brought to you by the vast left wing conspiracy.

It was the left that had a litter of kittens when President Bush played golf and then he felt compelled to quit playing. But they are not only silent, but almost celebrating how cool it is that President Obama plays golf so much.
  • Great God Goes Golfing
Personally, I wish Obama would play golf every single day; at least that might DELAY BRIEFLY the Marxist jerk's mission of economic and military destruction. All you need to know about Obama is this: with two war fronts, the only thing he's cut spending on is....(drumroll)......
THE MILITARY. I hope all you frigging dolts who voted for this disgraceful joke of a man are happy.
  • Obama's Golf Game
I think Neal misses the point. The reports on Obama's golf game aren't really about Obama's golf game. They are another example of the liberal media demonizing W for playing golf while glorifying Obama for doing more of the same.
  • Obama & Golf
You're right that people shouldn't go apoplectic over how often the president plays golf, but it's part of a bigger picture. The focus on fundraisers, the Olympic trip, the NY trip all add up to what seems like a part-time president. Added to that the frequency of televised speeches make it appear that he thinks that the bully pulpit is ALL the presidentcy is. Added to That, the several world leaders who've commented on his being amaturish and/or ill-prepared make me think he might oughta put down the sticks & focus on the job a bit more.
  • I pwayed a 4-some one time wif
Lawwy Sinwair, NABLA Czar Kevin Jennings, and Bawwy Obama and we all 4 hit a hole-in-one.
