"When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men living together in society, they create for themselves in the course of time a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that justifies it."

I dare say that there is a consensus over one issue in this country: federal government spending is out of control.  This is not exclusive to Barack Obama and the Democrats.  We have been spending wildly for decades.  President Bush doubled spending during his tenure.  The difference is that now the people of this country are starting to understand the ramifications of this runaway spending.  They get it.  The other difference is that politicians (like Obama) were elected based on their campaign promises to rein in spending, and they haven't followed through.  The people of this country are starting to realize that all political promises to reduce spending - or to slow down spending increases -- were nothing but a bunch of horsesqueeze.  Politicians don't increase their power by cutting spending.  They can get elected by promising .. but they won't stay in office by delivering.  Once you're enthroned in Washington you quickly learn that you buy votes to stay there.

So here is what I want you to remember.  You elected Barack Obama to the White House.  You put the Democrats in charge of Congress with supermajorities.  Under their watch .. under complete Democrat leadership ... domestic discretionary spending for the fiscal year 2010 will increase by 12.1%.

Got that?  That is a 12.1% increase in domestic federal spending from years prior.  THAT is apparently what Democrats call change you can believe in.

What others are saying

  • @Snarkybird
Your article by Bruce commits the classic blunder: It assumes correlation = causation. Invalid today same as ever.

Not to mention his wild claim that we (Conservatives?) believe that McCain would have solved everything...heavens no not even close, but he would have been marginally less destructive than Obama.

Again, I urge you to think about what you presume with your statement that government spending is the answer and not the tax cuts: The government knows better how to allocate resources than the private sector.

Sorry, I will never buy that in a billion years. Maybe...and just maybe, if the government wasn't a large, bueaurocratic, inept, and largly corrupt organization, that idea might hold water. But even then the idea is iffy at best.
  • How Bout the Press
Agree with your comments 100%. The people realize that the political class is spending the nation into bankruptcy. One question: Where's the press? The crisis in spending is one of the biggest challenges facing America today, and there's not a word of it on the news? Not one of the msm reporters even questions where the present course leads us. Are they all too stupid to understand what every American citizen is starting to see?
  • Boortz Despises His Audience
"You elected Barack Obama to the White House. You put the Democrats in charge of Congress with supermajorities."

So says Boortz. He accuses his audience. Notice: he does not accuse himself. He does not say "WE elected Barack Obama to the White House. WE put the Democrats in charge of Congress with supermajorities."

No. Boortz points the finger at his audience and accuses us of doing this terrible thing. Even those of us who voted against Obama. All of us. But not himself.

This guy is a true butthole, with hemorrhoids. If you enjoy being abused and insulted by this paranoid sadist, keep listening to him. I stopped years ago. And now, even his website is getting too obnoxious to tolerate.

""I think there are grounds on which to criticize the Obama administration's anti-recession actions. But spending too much is not one of them. Indeed, based on this analysis, it is pretty obvious that spending - real spending on things like public works - has been grossly inadequate. The idea that Reagan-style tax cuts would have done anything is just nuts.""

Warn someone to turn their volume down next time, my ear's are ringing!!!
  • There is only one way to reign in the out of control spending
    TERM LIMITS!

You are almost right. We really should have gone with Ron Paul this last time. Problem is just letting us implode will result in issues too big for anyone, even libertarians, to pull us out of short of a revolution. And it won't be pretty. We have to at least try to preserve some of our republic for when we do find a good leader to vote in. Maybe RP will run again. One can only hope.

Nobody has made improvements to Indian Health Care. Neither Republican nor Democrat. But if a liberal is going to demand that I pay more money for something that is going to kill me, all the while spreading sanctimonious drivel, then they can all burn in ...

I want the government to leave me alone. The liberals are the ones pushing more of this crap on me while spreading their lies about "Let it Be" and how much they want to help. The liberal Lloyd Doggett won't do anything while preaching his trash about how he is going to help us. Words about morally right, when doing nothing moral in deed.
  • More help for the liberal-minded
Allow me to help explain this better for the liberal-minded out there.

I have listened to liberal after liberal here in Austin about how important, how morally right it is to enslave everyone for this government health care option. After I explained Indian Health Care to them, how many ever lifted a single finger to do the “morally right thing?” Come on liberals, answer the question! Not a single pompous, sanctimonious, tree-hugging, liberal has done anything.

I have gone to the office of the ever so progressive and liberal Lloyd Doggett humbly begging that the government honor the treaties for my Indian mother. The ever so liberal and morally righteous assistant for the ever so liberal Lloyd Doggett just walked me to the door.

Why are liberals so full of sanctimonious, pompous hot air??? Why do these repugnant, vile disgusting liberals talk a big talk about the morally right thing and then do nothing??? Is it that the liberal wants the government to hold a gun to my head to take my money so that the liberal on the street can some how feel morally superior???? It's called slavery you stupid liberals. When you subject a productive person to force in order to provide you a product you have enslaved them. Liberals are no better than the Klansmen that used to round us up for a fun pinata time.
  • re-Joyce
you don't need a mandarin translator. the speak english.

off the reservation, please tell me of the improvements that were made of the Indian Health Service when republicans were in charge of the country.
  • com'on..............................
    okay dumbasses...............

let's see if YOU can get this right......

FORGET the party name......here is what I would like you to do.......don't vote for the guy that is in office......

it doesn't make any difference which party is in power.....they are ALL BAD....there are NO good politicians unless they are dead....then you should check once in awhile just in case.....

    DRIP
    DON'T RETURN INCUMBENT POLITICIANS......
  • To Friendly Patriot
Thanks for posting that. I listen to Doc sometimes too. Unfortunately for us Doc is right. Semper Fi.
  • Klubber Lang = Jimmy Dolan
This doofwad is just too easy to spot. Changing names every other day doesn't help.
  • Spending
All are guilty of spending us into oblivion. Replace them all. The news has a different look today (plain) guess the wench is off today
  • I hear you but what other choice do we have?
Republicans? I don't think so. Republicans are responsible for delivering Obama. They talk the talk but they don't walk the walk. At least give the Democrats credit for openly stating they are going to tax and spend.

No, I think we are stuck with Democrats for quite a while, at least we will implode under their watch.

It's time for some Americans to grow a pair and start voting for Libetarians or another third party until the Republicans realize they will be forced to champion some of our causes, like the Fair Tax, if they ever want to be in power again. And their lies the problem, they want power and the Fair Tax takes it away.

I think the sooner we implode, the faster we can fix things. Voting Republican is a wasted vote to turning the country around, it's a slow death.

There are no wasted votes, only wasted liberty when you vote for a lesser evil.
  • Another lesson.
Hopefully another lesson we'll learn is that someone's party affliation means very little, although the Rs have a slightly better track record as far as fiscal responsibility goes. So when someone says 'send me to Washington and I'll bring fiscal responsibility back to this place!' Don't believe them because as soon as he gets into office the K streeters will be calling him demanding some kind of bailout or welfare. Farmers, bankers, the poor, will be demanding the loot.
  • Fiscal Responsibility
PBO wasn't elected because of promises to curtail spending. No one in their right mind would believe that based on his record. He was elected because he promised to redistribute wealth (money, health care, etc.) and he is delivering on that promise.
  • liberals can go to __LL
I've lived under government health (called Indian Health Care). It's the worst kind of liberal joke there is. When Tuberculosis hit my tribe, Indian Health Service put us in a block building to die. No antibiotics at all. I watched seven tribe members die. I WANTED to die. That's liberal health care.

I survived, left the reservation with nothing in my pockets, and I am making a living and putting my children through school and I am happy with the health care I have. My mother started having medical problems. Indian Health Services gave her a few pills and sent her on her way. She got worse. IHS was closed for the rest of the year. I have taken her to a doctor and she has cancer. Easy test would have found it. I have forked out thousands of dollars because a government run health system, put in place in accordance with legal treaties with the tribes and under Federal Law (the Snyder Act of 1921), will gladly let people die.

Native Americans gave up millions of acres of land for treaties that the US Government DOES NOT HONOR.

I am tired of the liberals trying to cram this trash back down my throat. You liberals need to be tied up, taken out to sea and dumped. And now that an Indian has left the reservation, is doing well for himself, is living responsibly, the liberals want to enslave me again. WELL I'VE HAD IT WITH EVERY STUPID LIBERAL OUT THERE. IF YOU ARE LIBERAL YOU CAN GO TO...
  • As a favor to all you moonbat Statists out there, here's a ready made response to this posting:
But... but... his majesty the exalted one Barack the magnificent INHERITED this crisis!!!!

And besides, BOOOHES spend x amount and increased the debt Y amount... blah blah blah...

Okay, there you go, fill in the blanks and add some more invectives about “Necon Wingnuts” and you're all set..
  • What does this all really mean?
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcRVPW-5sL0

We may be in for some interesting times ahead if this man is correct.
  • Buying Votes
I disagree, Neal. Like many "other" voters who vote for a single cause, I vote for one thing and one thing only: Freedom. I will vote for Queen Pelosi if she will support and implement the Fairtax. If you don't support the Fairtax (ie, freedom!), then you don't get my vote. Period.
  • You cant blame the people
It isnt the people's fault that democrats are in charge and that conservatives are crying non-stop. You have to at least notice that conservatives are pretty terrible at running a country. That is how it was so easy for democrats to come to power. Crying about every issue every day wont help out in the next elections either
  • Go Green in 2010!
    Recycle the Senate.
  • Big Deal
Stop whining, all you whining conservative WHINERS. All we need to do is print some more money and that'll take care of the deficit.
    Idiots.
  • So what?
It's exactly what the progressives want. Oh and the regular liberals will just pout "but it was necessary to undo the Bush years".

I certainly hope lessons have been learned. 2010 is our next chance to get it right, if we miss that and 2012, it's all over. Programs will be in place that will be impossible to remove until our economy completely collapses.
