The mad mullahs of Iran are well on their way to building nuclear arms and the best that we can do right now is writing nasty notes and threatening sanctions.  Did you know that Iran is the fourth-largest exporter of crude oil but the country cannot meet its own domestic oil needs?  So it has to import refined oil products.  And as of right now, much of that gasoline comes from the United States.  But if these sanctions go into place, Iran already has a backup plan - Venezuela.  Yep.  Hugo the Horrible has already pledged to export gas to Iran in order to help Iran survive American sanctions.

So now that we know these sanctions aren't going to affect Iran ...... your move President Obama.  How about a blockade?

What others are saying

  • Iran
It is shocking how well reasoned most of these commments are here.

I agree, we are acting like scared school girls in response to Iran. They pose no threat to us and any logical examination of the issue would confirm that.

Logical debate on foreign policy is not Boorz's strong point. He falls in line with the meat heads and Neo Cons who seem to want us in perpetual war. He is hypocritical in this regard. Strong on domestic but very weak on foreign policy.
  • Submarines and targets, LOL!
    that's a great line, B Nekkid.
Also, I agree with everything Red Leader said, wow. The only caveat to that foreign policy outline, is the fact that Iran has threatened to wipe Israel off the map. If everyone in the room has a gun, EXCEPT the escaped mental ward patient, should we give the lunatic a gun, to make him equal to all the sane people in the room? As long as this policy is hand in hand with a "push the red button if Iran attacks Israel" policy, it's fine.
  • How about stopping the hysteria
You people sound like a bunch of scared school girls.

A-bombs are 60+-year-old technology. Virtually any upper level physics major can figure out how to make one. That genii is out of the bottle & we are not going to be able to put it back. Countries that we do not like are going to build nuclear weapons. Get over it.
  • practice practice practice...................
well if hugo is going to send stuff to iran........shouldn't some of it go to davy jones??????

an ol' shipmate tol' me many years ago that there were only two kinds of ships.......

submarines and targets.....and I believe our submariners need a lot of practice......
  • cannot meet its own domestic oil needs?
well, that makes me believe that iran is enriching uranium for peaceful uses. that and the CIA report, which said:

    Iran

    Nuclear

We assess that Iran had been working to develop nuclear weapons through at least fall 2003, but that in fall 2003 Iran halted its nuclear weapons design and weaponization activities, and its covert uranium conversion- and enrichment-related activities. We judge that the halt lasted at least several years, and that Tehran had not resumed these activities as of at least mid-2007. We do not know whether Iran currently intends to develop nuclear weapons, although we assess Tehran at a minimum is keeping open the option to develop nuclear weapons by continuing to develop a range of technical capabilities that could be applied to producing nuclear weapons, if a decision is made to do so.

you people who want to bomb iran, are deceived by israel and our own propagandist departments.

    Beware politically motivated hype.

  • The real enemy
The real enemy is Ronald Reagan for giving iran all its arms. See what happens when you let a crazy old man be president! And conservatives cried for days wondering why McCain wasnt elected
  • Hugo to the Rescue
After all f that, no gas for CITCO?
  • last question...
What do you think of the fact that some islamic fascists may WANT America to remain entangled in a war that America cannot afford in order to keep contributing to the destruction of America's economy, since they want to hurt America anyway they can. (think Afghanistan vs Soviet Union and what happened to the Soviet empire afterwards).
  • Some questions Boortz fails to ask that NEED to be asked..
If Iran is a threat to America, then why isn't the Mexican/American border closed and illegal being sent home in droves?

If you were the leader of a country and the only country in the world that has used nukes to kill mass amounts of people asked you to stop making nukes would you trust them? Yes or No?

Is America the policeman of the world?

Can America with 11 trillion dollar debt (and counting) AFFORD to be the police man of the world?

Iran is a 3rd world country, what army will they use to deliver a nuke to America?

Iran is surrounded by countries with nukes, some of these countries have dictatorships that America rewards (China,Pakistan) why the double standard?

If you were the only person in the room who was unarmed and everyone else had a gun...would you be trying to arm yourself?

If Iran was previously involved in overthrowing the American government...would Americans trust Iran?

Is Boortz's foreign policy view inline with the traditional conservative stance of non-interventionism ?(not to be confused with isolationism which is entirely different).
  • Wait A Minute...
Iran has to import gasoline from US?????
Jesus Mary and Joseph could this world get any screwier?
    (Don't answer that)
  • Best way to start the War...
"How about a blockade?" you say?

A blockade is an 'act of war'. Besides, the Russians have both substantial overland access to Iran via Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan and directly across the Caspian Sea. They have substantial sources of refined oil products in Baki… so it would be very difficult to "blockade" THAT avenue of supply of the refined petrol products that common everyday working Iranian citizens need. BTW, these are the same common everyday citizens that were shot and gassed by their government during their election protests of a few months ago.

Neal, if we're gonna start a war with the Iranian people by cutting off their gas and lubricants, you might as well start the war by simply destroying their ability to create the nukes in the first place. Blockading the Iranians via the sea, would be like blocking the front door to a house while the groceries are brought in via the back porch and the garage.
