What part of this surprises any of you?

We have a tax cheat writing our tax laws. That's right ... Charlie Rangel is a tax evader. A tax cheat. And yet the Democrats successfully killed a resolution that would have removed him as Chairman of the House Ways and Means committee. Remember, only Republicans can be corrupt. Democrats? Theirs is a culture of caring ... right?

For those of you who are government educated - all tax bill originate in the House. Charlie Rangel is the chairman of the committee in charge of drafting tax legislation. While writing the tax laws that govern you this clown has done a good job of avoiding the law for his personal finances. Here are just some examples:

1) Failure to report over $1 million in outside income and $3 million in business transactions as required by the House,

2) Failure to disclose at least $650,000 in assets he had previously failed to list on his House financial disclosure forms,

3) Failure to disclose to the IRS or on his financial disclosure forms $75,000 in rental income for a beach villa in the Dominican Republic,

4) Violation of state laws by claiming three primary residences and breaking New York City regulations by maintaining four rent-controlled apartments,

5) Violation of House rules by using congressional letterhead to solicit donations for an education center bearing his name at City College of New York, and

6) Delinquency in paying his property taxes on two New Jersey parcels and failure to report the sale of a $1.3 million brownstone.

This is a man who clearly believes that he's part of some special class - perhaps a class of one - that to which the laws of this country simply do not apply. All that, and all the arrogance you would ever need.

We also have brain-dead members of Congress who came to his defense. Maxine Waters says that "many members" of Congress suffer from the same issues as Charlie Rangel. What affliction is that? The inability to follow the law? We get punished for that stuff ... why not Rangel? The Republicans want to remove the guy as chairman, but the Democrats vote against it. Now THAT is transparency. THAT is change you can believe in!

By the way, if you want to know what good Charlie Rangel is doing in Congress, just check out the $3 million earmark he snuck into a bill for a city college, which has an academic department created by and named after Charlie Rangel!

  • Keepin' 'em in line....
"Maxine Waters says that "many members" of Congress suffer from the same issues as Charlie Rangel."

Does anyone else aside from me see this as a veiled THREAT?

"just remember... when it comes time to vote on Charlie... you could be next."
  • washington
The people should now realize how important it is to know our politicians, who show their character, or lack off, in their actions. The majority -2 of congress voted 3 times to NOT remove this crook, SHOWING THEY ARE NOT FOR THE PEOPLE, JUST THEMSELVES OR THE POLITICAL PARTY! How is that transparentcy thing working out... HYPE
  • taxes
SHUT UP... The point is not his political affiliation, HE IS A ...... TAX EVADER THAT CONTROLS A CONGESSIONAL COMMITTEE!!! What is becoming TRANPARENT with this congess and w.h. is that they are above the law, and their people. November 2010 stand, take america back.
  • Sanitize Congress and Senate
We need to sanitize both the Congress and the Senate to throw the bumbs (Republican and Democrats alike) out. Investigate all of them, or just kicks them all out and elected from scratch.
  • LMAO @ Club's Post
Club-a-Liberal that is the funniest post I've seen in ages....and that includes posts by Stan's #1 Fan!!
  • "I've got a beechfront villa where?"
"Musta slipt my mind." I almost accidentally threw out $600K with the trash last week myself, I know how it is.

Didn't he try to blame it on his wife or something? What a man.

There's a cure for that affliction maxine, the next treatment day is Nov 4, 2010. You significantly reduce your risk of getting it in the first place by staying away from the dp. Tell us more about how yall are cleaning up that culture of corruption in DC.
  • Maxine Waters (D) on Rangel
“I want to tell you, there are many of my colleagues who, if you go back over all of their records, over all of the years, you’re going to find that there were disclosures that were not made,” Waters said during an appearance on MSNBC Wednesday morning.

Wow, it's so refreshing to see the donks are basically honest about being dishonest thieves.

Hey Club, if I had to guess that was more of the freudian variety....yuck.
  • Gayvin
"Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go file a restaining order against Closet-A-Liberal. Obsess much, Closet?"

LOL!! You said "restaining". Is that a typo or a Freudian slip???
  • LOL@Club and Liberal Hater is correct
Oh my you are too much!!!!!
  • Seeing Rangel with his sh#t-eating grin
makes me want to kick his teeth in. That the democrats would actually vote to protect this piece of garbage speaks volumes.

Hey Club, it's a good thing Gayvin's a bisexual frenchman 'cause you just ripped him a new one. Man, whatever's in the water today it sure seems to be powerful.
  • Stan's #1 Fan
Based on your post it's obvious you never listen to Boortz.
  • the freaking point?
the point of the post titled "CHARLIE RANGEL GETS A PASS" has been addressed.

    GOP = bunch of whiners

Would you care to address the freaking point, tough guy?

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go file a restaining order against Closet-A-Liberal. Obsess much, Closet?
  • @ Club
    LMAOfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff.

Now I've had four beers, feel much better, understand and agree with Kevin 100%.And I'm startin to like Rangel. Stay away from the water, more beer please!
  • BREAKING NEWS
    Associated Press

Record Breaking Streak Ends at 79

ATLANTA - The amazing streak by Frenchman Gayvin Volaire has officially ended at 79 posts. The flaming Frenchman dazzled the message boards by blaming "Bush" in a record setting 79 straight posts, shattering the previous record of 42 held by Stan Gable.

"It was fun while it lasted. At the same time, I am a little relieved because it was a lot of work," said Volaire. "Each day would consist of reading hours of DailyKos posts and watching MSNBC news in preparation for my posts."

The charismatic recordsetting bisexual went on to say, "I'll be back to start a new record. I just spent all last night watching Micheal Moore movies, I am ready to begin a new streak."

    Developing......
  • Rangel
Enough voices need to eminate from all sides to get rid of this guy. I give credit to Snark and other libs that still will stand on principle. That means real "hope" still remains in this society.

PS. Butt! You didn't get the weather report for today? Hell froze over!
  • @Butt Neckid
I sweat whatever it was I drank out of my system during my lunchtime jog. I feel much better now. Snarky's an a@#hole libtard.

There, are the planets properly aligned for you now? ;-)
  • Pied Piper
Once again the rats are following Neal out of the city as he plays play his familiar dirge about the poor, poor GOP.

Only Republicans get accused of corruption.... *sniff*
    We're just victims.... *wah*
We call ourselves the party of personal responsibility *WAAAAAHHHHHHHH* I want my ba-ba!

  • Since you all are "agreeing" with each other...
I agree with Ron Paul. The Democrats and Republicans are one in the same. They both spend their time screwing up the country and then blaming the other side for thier ignorance.
  • Representative Rangel
This image by R.J. Matson in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch illustrates Democrat's, particularly Speaker Pelosi and Representative Rangel's, dilemma far better than words can describe.

    http://www.stltoday.com/blogzone/the-platform/files/2009/09/rangel.jpg
  • rejcooper
I agree. He should be investigated by the IRS like anyone else and, if convicted, face the same punishment as anyone else.

If that means jail time - cool by me.
  • Kevin & Snarky
Kevin,I'm lost buddy, one more time please.

Snarky,I'm impressed,I guess some libtards do understand right from wrong. But you stop short, resigning his leadership post ain't good enough. This man deserves jail time!
  • Timmy & Charlie
Time to bring back tar & feathers.
  • Double Ace In The Hole
Rangel has the double ace in the hole: He's black and a Democrat. Te reason why I stress on the fact that he's a Democrat is because if this were Michael Steele or J.C. Watts, people wouldn't be so forgiving.
  • maybe later today
Maybe later today Neal can have Dick Morris on to talk about it like he did
Geithner. You know, Morris, the morally corrupt mega tax evading schmuck commenting on others morality or obligations. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem tossing Rangel out of his post and having him investigated. I just think it is laughable the way Boortz applies his logic and choice of "friends" versus "enemies". Morris doesn't pay his taxes and he is never called a tax cheat and is instead allowed to come on the show and discuss tax issues? No bias there, Neal.
  • Re Favorites
The founding fathers didn't mention term limits because they really did see congress as a part time job. You go to represent your district for about 3 months, then you go home and run your business/farm in your community. In that scenario, no one gets out of touch as they do today.

Of course the founding fathers also thought they had limited the scope of the federal government to the point that it didn't matter how long people were in congress.
  • re Tim
    Tim,

You do know that Stan's #1 Fan is a satirist don't you?

He does more to point out the inane nature of the left than most of our responses in logic could ever do.
  • Rangel the Cheat
Well, if they are not going to bring this guy down politically because of his evasion, he should at least pony up the back taxes, penalties and interest.

He has been caught, right? So pay up.

He will not go down because he has all the proper adjectives in his political profile:

black, democrat, minorities, hispanic, dictator, youth, black youth, hispanic youth, medicare, diversity, civil rights, entitlement, social, working class, harlem, empowerment, diversity, africa, african, low income housing, public housing, welfare, poverty stricken, puerto rico, haiti, cuba, china, aids, gay, criminal justice reform for blacks...

Not to mention his 20th term in office.

Plenty of time to scheme and deceive.

Where are these term limits that the founding fathers were so adamant about enforcing?
  • @snarkybird
For probably the first and last time, I actually agree with you. Wow.....
  • Hey look ma...
its one of those elites that I keep hearing about...Are they really trying to destroy this country? Yes hon, but we don't talk about it because we wouldn't want to be called crazy, Nazi's, or racists now would we?
  • @Stan's #1
Dodd, Frank, etc... Boortz has no problem going after crooked whites, so grow up.
  • @Snarky
Did you just say what I think you said?
  • @Kevin
I agree with Stan. We have no idea what you just wrote. I have no idea if you agree with me or if you are just a racist. Can you translate your post to english and try again? I am not implying that your language is inferior to mine because all languages are equally beautiful, but like a great work of art sometimes people get confused.
  • @snarky
I agree with your post. The regular guy takes a few extra bucks on a deduction, and the IRS is breathing down his neck. This scoundrel gets away with murder, and nothing. As you said, Congress thinks they are a special class. That is why I despise politicians (and not just the Democrats). For the most part, these aren't any particularly skilled, talented, or smart people; in fact, may are just complete morons, yet they come across lecturing us on EVERYTHING. They have a different set of rules, just like the pigs in Animal Farm.
  • @Kevin
I'm not sure what you just said, but I think I agree with you.
  • Helmsley's Law ...
Taxes are for the little people.
  • Re: Kevin
Kevin: The meds aren't working, I suggest you check in with your shrink!
  • Taxes
But …Charlie is a member of the sainted Washington political class, taxes are for the other people.
  • Charile Rangel
Okay its not if this was a Republican did same u think be okay if he was let stay u would hear out crys from democarts over it..and its not a bein Raceist...and a white guy is rich what u problem stan and stan#1 Fan we are allowed use are rights for gains not bein idiots for hand outs u get rich by bein smart n doin well in school further u well bein...Rangel gets away cause he can see if a Republican can do that see what be said by barney franks n his donkey party!
  • reclub
I can't speak for the other "libtards" but, you're absolutely right.

He needs to go. Congress is not a special class of people except that, to me anyway, they should be held to a little higher standard out of deference to what their office and service represent. And for that, the standards should be just a little higher.

If he had any dignity, he'd resign his leadership post.
  • Charlie Rangel
    Three things:

    1) When a Republican does stuff like this, they run him out of town.
    2) The House has no problems taking time out to slap a member who yelled "You Lie", but can't devote a second to fight obvious corruption in their midst
    3) What kind of respect should we have for taxes and the law when the head of the Treasury and the Chair of the House Ways and Means are both tax cheats? Seriously, when the heads of the most powerful offices affecting our taxes and economy are cheating on their own taxes, what kind of statement is that? Why should I, the little guy, play fair when I know our government representatives are cheating and getting away with it?

As the most corruption free government in the world, the U.S. government is filled with corruption, and it starts from the top. That pretty much includes every President for the last 30 years. From Watergate to Iran/Contra, from Rose Law Firm Billing Records to Tony Rezko property deals, our corruption in America starts at the top and permeates all levels and branchs of government.
  • Leave it to Boortz...
I agree with Stan. Leave it to Boortz to find another of Africamerica to criticize. Has this man ever complained about a white Republican, ever? I'm sure he's complained about some rich white guy in a restaurant with a noisy kid, but I'm taking about some general white republican politician. I'd like to call him racist but he doesn't like it when people use that word.
  • Tax cheat Charlie Rangel
Are we sure he's a tax cheat? Maybe he just couldn't navigate his way through the giant Charlie Foxtrot we call a tax code.

If only there were another way. Say, maybe a simplified tax code? Maybe we could just scrap the entire federal tax system and replace it. Maybe something like a consumption tax. Only on retail sales. Oh, I don't know. Make it twenty two percent, maybe? Maybe an embedded tax? And give people a break on taxes they'd have to pay on necesities. Perhaps some kind of 'prebate?'

Someone ought to look into an idea like that.
  • Corrupt Politicians
It's OK. I am SO SURE another election in 13 months will make it all better. (Riiiight....)
How much longer til we fold up the old tents...
  • Question
I think we the people should demand Rangel's reassignment. I hear there's an opening for a census worker in rural Kentucky.
  • Rangel Gets a Pass
    Further proof of my equation:

    Liberal=hypocrite
  • Sit down and think about this...
Before you libtards start with your ignorant responses of "It was just an oversight", just use some common sense for once:

    - First off, how does a man, who has never had a job in his entire life, has been a Congressman for decades making a govt salary, own villas across the world and has millions in outside investments and income?????

    - That said, for the idiots who still think, "He just had an oversight...", If you had a main job that pays $150K a year, would you forget to report millions in other income, would that be an over sight?? Now, if you are Tiger Woods or Bill Gates, maybe you miss a million here or there, that I can see being an oversight. But a congressman??? This idiot should be thrown in jail for a long time.

    (3) Why are we talking about just removing him from the HWM Committee? Can't someone file criminal charges against him? Isn't the IRS interested in prosecuting this?? His crimes are outrageous!

    (4) Remember that dolt who won $1M on the first Survivor? He didn't pay taxes and got thrown in jail for a long time. He had no prior record and probably was ignorant of tax laws for that much of money. How is this Rangel jerk excused? He can't say he didn't know the laws when he is the Chariman on the freakin' committe that deals with taxes!@#$%^&*()
  • The tax code writing tax cheat
Disgusting! This guy has been in Congress for at least forty years. This guy should be in jail. If it's good enough for Wesley Snipes, it's good enough for ‘Strangled’ Rangel.
  • There's a good side to this mess....
While the country is going to hell in a handbasket at an alarming rate, I am firmly convinced that the current Democrat President and Democrat-led Congress will continue to screw things up so badly (and so quickly) that a resurgence of common sense and fiscal realism will soon prevail in the minds of voters-even many Democratic voters- who thought that they had put the right party into power. That means Obama will be gone in 2012 and we should see a BIG turnover in 2010 and 2012. Rangel is just another example of Dem incompetence and arrogance.

Whether the Republicans or another Party will be able to take advantage of the rebound is another question. I sure hope so.
