"When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men living together in society, they create for themselves in the course of time a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that justifies it."

What others are saying
why did it take this long?
She was shot 12 years ago, why has it taken this long for a ramp to be built? You would figure Atlanta woudl do a better job of taking care of its fallen and wounded officers.
Nice but huge
I'm always impressed by the kindness of others!
I'm kind of surprised they used concrete instead of a regular wooden ramp. Granted the ramp will probably last about 10 times as long but if she ever wants to sell the house down the road if a new owner doesn't want/need the ramp it will be a little bit of a pain to remove.
Still, bravo for helping and building such a strong, well designed ramp that shouldn't be an issue to use. Just hope they got all the proper building permits if needed or you know some Government official will try to have it removed.
Can someone answer a question for me?
Gregory Lawler killed APD Officer John Sowa and shot Officer Cocciolone six times including one at point blank range to the head in 1997. Why did he live to see 1998 much less still be on death row and breathing today some 12 years later? BTW, the volunteers have done a great job on the ramp.
I want to see the receipts
I personally want to see the receipts. If Neal is lauding this as an act of great piety, then I want to see the receipts. I want to make sure that not one single nail in that ramp was paid for by any government money of any kind. I'm talking any kind of government money; grants, settlements from the department where she worked, out of the pocket of any, and I mean ANY government bureaucrat in GA for a photo op, etc. I want to see them. We want to harangue anyone who accepts any type of assistance as 'feeding from the gubment teet' but if its someone we like, then its perfectly ok. I, for one, am sick as hell of the hypocrisy.
The Ramp
I would be glad to help landscape the area around the new ramp with a few friends. Let me know. petemc1@bellsouth.net
Officer Pat
I remember Pat C. from pre-accident days. My heart sank when I read that she had been shot. I am so glad to see that she continues to improve and has found someone that she can count on. God Bless you Pat, and all of the Police Officers who were not able to make it home when a day on the job turned deadly.
I didn't see if there is a way to donate to her (for medicine, better accessability, etc.) Anyone know?
Well said, Steve!
I couldn't have said it better myself, brother! No way they are going to actally help someone. That's the gubmint's job.
Steve
You forgot Gavyin Cornhair, Stanley GabyBull, and the rest of the idiots out there that expect you to fork over your cash but let them keep theirs. What a bunch of greedy pathetic morons.
Ramp
And this happened without the government getting involved? Amazing! I guess some people can manage to take care of others without the feds and local govt sticking their noses in it. Great ramp and will probably last for years.
Wait for it...
$10 says some "government official" shows up to either put the brakes on the project and/or raise her property taxes.
@Board leftists
Hey board leftists, here's your chance to take your smug sense of superiority and use some of your own money to help someone else. Snarkybird? 3mbw? East Coast Conservative? Doctor T-Shirt? Who among you enlightened, non-greedy leftists will be the first to show some integrity?
