  • WeaselSlapper
    Hey Weasel,
I asked some direct questions to Ray McBerry regarding his stance on some issues that affect bible thumbers. I asked him what his stance was on gay marriage. He said, and I was BLOWN AWAY by this because it is exactly in line with what I feel, that he doesn't believe the government should be recognizing marriage to begin with (whether hetero or homo). I completely agree with this concept, because the government shouldn't be rewarding or punishing anyone for their personal involvement with someone through a ceremonial type agreement. The only thing he does stand by is blocking abortion, but so does Johnny Oxendine, Karen Handel, and the rest of the Repubs. So, that's a moot point.
  • Thoughts
This film is ridiculous and all Ox did was hurt the republicans in general. In the republican field of candidates that I have studied one man stands out alone who is not like your typical politician. He bucked his own party members who sold out the citizens of the state. And that man is Jeff Chapman. Read about his works in trying to save Jekyll Island from the Sonny Perdue's developer friends. Jeff Chapman had emanate domain abuse by goverment legislation in the works when Perdue stole it.
  • Glad I moved to florida
    I voted for Barnes and that was a mistake. I don't know much about oxen. How about getting rid of state income tax and I will come back. Otherwise me and my constitutional security devices will be staying in Florida. {Oh and let milton county come back}
  • Puh-lease
I know this is way too late to get attention, but I will feel better when I'm done.

Are there points to be made with this? Sure, but I think this is and indication of one or both of the following:
    1. Politicians are catering to fourth graders to influence parent voting behavior.
    2. We are collectively dumb enough to deserve this.

Are these my likely choices? A rat and an ox? Are you kidding me?

How about another animal? Oh, I don't know, let's say a reasoning animal.

I would propose a 'man' by the name of Herman Cain. He may not want the job, but I could get him elected by a landslide. Of course our collective dumbmassedness may thwart my saintly quest.

    Jim
  • What is this?
Ugh. We don't need Roy Barnes back, but what overpaid political consultant thought up this stupid cartoon nonsense? It's on par with Gravel throwing a rock in the lake. I admit I haven't paid much attention yet to Georgia's governor's race, but if this is what Oxindine offers then I have become a McBerry supporter.
  • the "OX"
As well as i like what i have heard regarding his stance on a few issues, I still remember the time he was stopped by a police officer for speeding around the state with his emergency lights flashing when he was not on official business. Then once it became a news story he seemed agitated toward the news reporter and the "MICKY MOUSE COPS" (his words not mine) that stopped him. I'm not sure but i think he had to give up his government issue car after that. Any how, I can't forgive him for it. I'm not a police officer. I'm someone who thinks they deserve better. Not some condescending, aloof, arrogant ass.
  • Worst of the worst
Oxendine is purely a self-serving politician trying to masquerade as a populist. Ask him what insurance company yacht he spent his vacation on a while back. He didn't know those insurance company campaign donations (from Alabama) were illegal! And the complaints? "...just politics..." (his words). Hilarious to see him show up at an arrest like a true Barney Fife and say in that squeaky voice, "I won't tolerate this!" Camera whore. Any opportunity to toot his own horn about how "tough" he is and then cozy up to insurance companies that can wine, dine and feed the kitty. Judge "Daddy Ox" gets his hand slapped for double-dipping a few weeks ago. The apple doesn't fall far...
  • Someone paid for this???
No credits. Was this paid for by Roy Barnes supporters? Sure didn't help my impression of Johnny Johnny Oxen Free. I wish YouTube would post the ratings at the beginning. One and a half stars was way too generous.
  • Careful Woody
Your poor education is showing. Do you have any idea of the history of the Confederate flag at all? The current GA flag is a slightly modified version of the flag known as the "Stars and Bars" that was the first flag adopted by the Confederate Congress. The Confederate Congress later authorized 2 other designs, one of which contained the St. Andrews Cross design that many exclusively refer to as the "Rebel" or Confederate flag. They are in error.
  • gag
    responsibility
  • Roy Barnes
I worked with him on a sexual lawsuit one time (not mine) and he and his team were great for that. We actually got some law changed to prevent bosses from avoiding responsitility for what their managers do to employees. He should stick to law, he was a terrible governor. But I still call him for legal advice.
  • Ray McBerry
Just did a little perusing about Ray McBerry. I do like his constitutional stance on many things. However, after reading some of his comments and speeches I feel like every time he says GEORGIA FIRST he is really saying JESUS FIRST.
He has potential but I'm...still searching.
  • The Ox vs Rat
I couldn't even watch it one full minute. If the Ox is hanging his political future on this piece of caca, then he's toast IMHO. I need to find out more about this McBerry guy. Otherwise, if we cannot find someone who has a clue...is there a retired general or admiral around that might want to 'take over' until the candidates get a grip?
  • Hey Woody
We have a Palm and Moon, (Palmetto Tree) on our state flag. Please, stay in Georgia. Just to refresh your mind, we had a Confederate Flag as the 3rd flag over the capitol. Also, what ever happened to letting the people of Georgia decide?
  • Oh well
Since the Dems and the Repubs are essentially the same party, I looked into the Libertarian candidate. A card carrying member of the NAACP. Oh well...still searching.
  • OX
Barnes was just awful. I remember moving back to GA and having to get my driver's license.. and found they consolidated all the small offices to one huge place.. back then it took 2 hours to get my license.

Oxindine.. or however you spell it.. is an opportunist. Back in 1999 he was up in arms about certain industries letting their employees telecommute over a thing called an internet... my wife started working from home a few days a week with her career in health insurance.

I have to tell you.. the security measures they had were amazing even back then. But old "where's a camera" Ox started accusing her industry of letting employees take super secret medical info home with them... not that the could not have done that already by simply printing stuff out and.. taking it home.

Eh... they are both government hacks wanting more power.

    I miss Zell.
  • Joyce & Karen Handel
    Joyce,
We don't hear much about her any more, because she's no different than Johnny Iodine. Did you get the money bomb email for Ray McBerry today?? I'm planning to send my money to his campaign, along with Peter Schiff and Rand Paul.
  • Pffftttt!!!
Looked like a low budget South Park episode.
  • where the hell.........................
RAAANNNNNNDDDDDYYYYYY..........where the hell is my beer????????

    headache??????
  • Oxendine is a broken record
I've heard Oxendine speak on numerous occasions and he never has anything new to bring to the table. This most recent ad against Roy Barnes is further proof that "The Ox" is just following a template and has no real clue on how to run for governor. All he does is recycle old ideas.
  • hmmm
per neal's recommendation, i just finished reading the book 'term limits'. Dats what should be happening across da country..........
  • Ox = Same BS x No Balls.
Holy Crap!!!! You're right. I totally forgot that a ox was a castrated bull!

Yeah... I wonder if they even THOUGHT about that one?

    BACKFIRE!!!
  • McBerry
I'm liking him more and more as I hear him.

Nobody mentions Karen Handel, is that a dead issue?
  • I'm gonna sue..........................
wow just friggin' wow......bubba the retarded redneck and cuzz early musta made that piece of crap.......

I'm gonna sue the balls off of sumbuddy........oh crap!!!! too late!!!!!
  • Bad....BAD Commercial
That might be the most irritating and insulting political ad I've ever seen in my life.....
..and I lived in Alabama for three years.
  • Handel
Karen Handel is the only one who can bring Georgia into the 21sr century. Oxendine opposes Sunday sales, so he will never get my vote.
  • Re Liberal Hater
Exactly. Too many CINOs, not enough conservative values. Stop letting the media tell us who is "electable". Oh yeah, there's a storm coming.

    liberal = hypocrite
  • Ad comments
The message is sound, but the commercial is way too long and the narrator sounds like he is talking down to a bunch of grade school kids. Gotta improve the commercial.
  • Marketing 101
I have always heard the saying "As dumb as an ox" what were his handlers thinking?
  • Ray McBerry - True Statesman
You toothless rednecks that follow the sheeple and vote for Johnny Iodine or Roy Barnes need to just stay at home on election/primary day. If Ray McBerry gets the Republican nomination for Governor, he is gonna clean Roy Barnes' clock. All he needs to do is talk about his states rights and 10th Amendment, then Roy is DONE.
  • Idiocy
This sums up the problem with the Republican party. Instead of showing inane commercials of an ox headbutting a rat, explain how true conservative and free market policies will benefit everyone. Take on all the welfare groups and show them to be the racist organizations they truly are. And quit worrying about the media. The combined IQ of the anchors at most outlets wouldn't be a decent basketball score.

    liberals = hypocrisy
  • Are you guys a bunch of commies?
So many of you are attacking the ad. I thought it was pretty funny, plus, it sure helps you visualize and remember the issues.

Who wants us to be like California, New York and, worst of all, France!? Who wants a leader like Obama rather than Ronald Reagan!? (Pause for moment of silent respect).

The ox isn't feeding you bull. That ad was generally consistent with my values. (BUT, I DO NOT want the Confederate battle emblem back on our flag. Those nuts can move to South Carolina if they want that.)
  • Well, that was painful
I turned it off after 2 minutes.

Oxendine, you might want to rethink your strategy. Pandering to the stupid and/or uninformed is best done with uplifting music, large posters and insipid platitudes.
  • 3:52 minutes wasted
This is proof that parents need to supervise what their children are creating and uploading to YouTube! Or maybe this was done by the same ad company that creates ads for Pepsi.

When I compare this junk to the slick stuff put out by the big O machine, it's no wonder that the left is steamrolling everyone. While it's sad that a slick presentation and a well-delivered speech can dupe anyone these days, you still have to look a little competent with respect to presentation and branding.

I agree with Lawrence. Until the GOP actually embraces small government, I'll be voting Libertarian. Keep your family choices and religion in your homes and churches. Parents and churches have abdicated their responsibilities and expect the government to do the heavy lifting. I am tired of my taxes being used to rear someone else's children and to promote someone else's religious values.
  • Appalling
What a horrific insult to the intelligence. What little respect for voters politicians must have now.
  • Awful
This must be the worst ad ever. Roy Barnes lost because he wanted to build a road nobody wanted- the so called outer loop. Unfortunately, if our only other option is John, I need a car with sirens because I am the insurance commissioner, Oxendine, Georgia is in big trouble. Will somebody with a little sense and an ounce of integrity please run for Governor?
  • Lowest Common Denominator
More proof that politicians must think it necessary to appeal to the stupid among us...or maybe they think we are all stupid.

In any event this is insulting. I am a garden variety Libertarian - which means, obviously, I generally favor Republicans when there is no other choice. Republicans need to grow up - stop appealing to the Lowest Common Denominator and at least make an attempt to leave your Religion at home - and maybe on a national level they might stand a chance.

Can't even put into words how stupefied I am by this advertisement. It looks to be produced by a a high school student. Is it is not possible to reach for the "high ground"...i.e. SHOW SOME CLASS!! This is trashy crap not worthy of someone running for Dog Catcher.

This is an insult to our collective intelligence.
  • Another Matt
yes, but he's got problems with that. the people whose budgets that he will try to cut are politicians like him. he could use their support at some future date. and the people whose budget he will cut will become bitter enemies of him. they don't forget that.
    the people, we've got amnesia.
  • Uh oh
The poor hick is crying. I bet he would rather DFACS take his child than lose his musket.
  • The Ox
    Who wrote that? The Democrats?
The first thing to come to mind while watching that ad was:
Ox = Same BS x No Balls.

    wkj
  • Just terrible...
That was the absolute worst political campaign video I have ever seen. It looks like poorly animated clipart and the voiceover work is just awful. That little yelling every 15 seconds doesn't help this pol's case either - I had to shut the video down a minute in because it was just that bad. Fortunately, it doesn't look like it cost the candidate that much (unless you count credibility).
  • Ox?
John Oxendine is a full time fool from a long way back. He is the worst sort of politician. His goal from day one was to be governor...not to serve, but to serve his own interests and ego. Leave the ox in the ditch imo
  • And as always
I could start liking a "republican" until they insert "faith" into the discussion. It appears that Republicans will never learn.
  • re: tshirt-doctor
"if the ox wants to keep teachers happy then he will institute a pay raise. how can you do that without raising taxes?"

    Cut spending elsewhere.

The knee-jerk reaction that in order to pay for new things you have to raise taxes is getting old.

And yes, this "ad" is really bad.
  • Worst commercial ever.
Was this made in MS Paint?

Oxendine is 100% politician. He couldn't attend a Firefighter appreciation luncheon without championing his own work. What a d-bag.
  • Jimmy Dolen
hey Jimmy Dolen, FU! pack yer pointy shoes into your carpet bag and slither back from where ever you were vomited from
  • WTF?!?
No, seriously, WTF?!? I thought you had to be 18 to vote, and this insufferable crap--which is 4 minutes of my life I can never have back--could only possibly appeal to the 6 and under crowd.
  • Ox or Bull
Looks more like bull than Ox.
  • Are you kidding me?
I'd never vote for Barnes, but that was the worst political ad I've ever seen. If I did not know any better I'd say that was done by the SNL crew.
  • Ray McBerry makes them both look like idiots
The only candidate for Governor in Georgia right now that is worth voting for is Ray McBerry. He's the only candidate who has come out publicly and stated that if FEMA comes into Georgia and tries to take our guns away like they did in New Orleans, he will lock them up in a Georgia jail and let a Federal agent bail them out. He's the only one who is speaking about state's rights on the level that it should be and not some jibber jab talk like Johnny Iodine (have you seen how orange his skin is from all of the tanning he's been doing???) is making, but with no backup.
  • Unions...
Unions first and foremost ruined this ad for me. Why?? b/c the carpenter's union that protests everyone who doesn't use unionized labor and disturbs the "peace and quiet" of downtown always calls their target a rat.

A rat, has become someone I can admire now rather than despise.

    Thanks Unions!

    :P

Oh... and the whole ad just sucks. I mean... wow... bad flash animation. Bad follies. Bad writing. Bad voice overs... Wow... A golden turkey for sure.
  • chicken v. egg
Saw the video last week. I think he is counting his eggs before they've hatched. I dislike Ox more after this video.
  • pretty much tells us what they think about us
I am sick and tired of idiotic campaigning from all these childish fools, running popularity contests. Will we ever have another policitian who is willing to stand up, and talk to us as adults, and not this silly romper room crap? If this is the best that the republicans can come up with after Barnes gave them a great 4 year lesson on why he shouldn't governor, then they don't deserve to govern either. Sheesh, thanks a lot, it's not even 10:00 Monday morning, and I'm already mad this week!
  • our options
I wouldn't vote for either one. Run, Clark Howard, run!
  • Ox v. Rat
They're both politicians, therefore both are rats...
  • teachers
if the ox wants to keep teachers happy then he will institute a pay raise. how can you do that without raising taxes?

and i won't go into the values thing....
  • THE RAT
    this is really bad!
  • ROY 2010!!!
Sadly the hicks that cared about the confederate flag did not like him. Hopefully it will be too cold for them to get out of their trailers on election day. I am not surprised that conservatives want a big government guy like Oxendine who not only majored in christianity, but also was a part of a political controversy involving fraudulent contributions
  • Will somebody give that poor man some money!
We need to contribute some cash so he can pay for a real commercial! It looks like some elementary school kids did this on a power point slide show!

    Good grief!
  • Childish.
Seriously people see right through this repetition marketing bs that we learned in grade school. The message may be true but it comes across childish. Albeit entertaining, I wouldn't have to watch it twice.
  • Huh?
That was horrible, and I like John Oxendine.
