- Princess Nancy has decided to change the name of the government insurance option again. This "public option" thing wasn't working out for the looters. Maybe they were comparing the possibility of "public insurance" with the reality of "public schools." We'll give you new, approved government language today ... language many in the ObamaMedia are sure to pick right up on.
- President "Sort of a God" and the looters have been demonizing the health insurance companies for their "obscene" and "immoral" profits. Fine. But do any of you know what the health insurance industry profit margins are? You will, after you listen to the show today.
- Is The Community Organizer delaying any decision to send additional troops to Afghanistan until after next week's elections? Politics always comes first with PrezBO. I wonder how many American soldiers will die while The Chosen One is waiting for the elections are over.
- Obama played golf more time in 9 months than Bush did in three years. So what? Maybe he likes golf more than Bush did. Can we get rid of the silly stories and concentrate on Obama's war against the private sector?
- Democrats are growing weary of Florida's moonbat Alan Grayson. Shouldn't go around calling women "whores," Mr. Grayson. But then .. he is a Haaaarvard educated lawyer.
- CNN is in last place among cable news networks. Hmmmm ... just how long ago was it that they banned radio talk show hosts from appearances on CNN? Fox is No. 1. Correct me if I'm mistaken .. but aren't there two radio talk show hosts with shows on Fox?
- I've been telling you for six months that there's a bank seizure coming up. Now Barney Frank is ready to introduce the legislation.
- The United Nations has decided to investigate the housing "crisis" in the United States. The UN wants to investigate public housing, homelessness and foreclosures. The premise here is that housing is a right ... and that right needs to be recognized in the US. Are some of you getting a little weary of this essentially anti-American institution?
- A winning Falcon's season with a trip to the Super Bowl could turn out to be very expensive for Georgia taxpayers. Be careful what you wish for.
I dare say that there is a consensus over one issue in this country: federal government spending is out of control. This is not exclusive to Barack Obama and the Democrats. We have been spending wildly for decades. President Bush doubled spending during his tenure. The difference is that now the people of this country are starting to understand the ramifications of this runaway spending. They get it. The other difference is that politicians (like Obama) were elected based on their campaign promises to rein in spending, and they haven't followed through. The people of this country are starting to realize that all political promises to reduce spending - or to slow down spending increases -- were nothing but a bunch of horsesqueeze. Politicians don't increase their power by cutting spending. They can get elected by promising .. but they won't stay in office by delivering. Once you're enthroned in Washington you quickly learn that you buy votes to stay there.
So here is what I want you to remember. You elected Barack Obama to the White House. You put the Democrats in charge of Congress with supermajorities. Under their watch .. under complete Democrat leadership ... domestic discretionary spending for the fiscal year 2010 will increase by 12.1%.
Got that? That is a 12.1% increase in domestic federal spending from years prior. THAT is apparently what Democrats call change you can believe in.
Maybe the Democrats are hoping that third time is a charm? What I mean by that is that the Democrats are trying anything and everything they can to make you people like their plans to take over our healthcare system. In the past, they have relied on simple tricks to sway public option ... like buzz words and focus groups. But something has gone awry lately. No matter what the Democrats call their government takeover of healthcare, people aren't liking it.
Oh, no! What is a Democrat to do?
So first we had "public healthcare reform." Then it was "insurance reform." There was also the "public option." Some say that the original name for the "public option" was the "government option." I can't verify that, and it seems unlikely our political class would be that honest. Well ... it's time to rename "the public option" and Princess Nancy has come up with a new moniker .... "the consumer option." If you don't like that one, she suggests another name: "the competitive option." This is how Nancy Pelosi would like to refer to the government takeover of healthcare. Now you good Democrat myrmidons remember -- if you are unfortunate enough to get into a conversation with a liberal today, remember to use the new phrase "competitive option" so as to not offend him or her.
You will love this explanation from Princess Nancy as to why the name needs to be changed. Listen to this: "You'll hear everyone say, 'There's got to be a better name for this ... When people think of the public option, public is being misrepresented, that this is being paid for with their public dollars." Oh right, Nancy. No taxpayer dollars involved, right? And by the way ... the proper phrase is "taxpayer dollars," not "public dollars." Do we see another change in terminology coming here?
Splashed all over the news lately have been reports of President Obama's golfing habits. The reports say that Obama has already played as much golf in his first nine months as President Bush did in over two years.
Who gives a flying fornication? It's a tough job. This particular president is doing an abysmal job at it .. but it's tough. I have no problem with PrezBO playing golf. It's a game that teaches honor ... maybe some if it will rub off.
By the way ... as long as the media is pointing out the difference between Bush's visits to the links and Obama's ... maybe it would be nice to remind the people that Bush said that he didn't particularly want the Commander in Chief to be on the golf course while troops were fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.
As early as this week, the Democrats could introduce legislation giving the federal government even more authority over private businesses. Where the federal government is deriving this authority is questionable ... apparently people in Washington are reading a different Constitution than I am ... but who am I kidding? The Constitution is more like a "guideline" that gets in the way of the federal government doing what it needs to do! Right?
Moving right along ... Barney Frank will be introducing legislation that would make it easier for the federal government to seize control of institutions that have been deemed "too big to fail." The legislation would make it easier to take over the institutions, throw out management, wipe out the shareholders and change the terms of any existing loans held by the institution.
This is wonderful, right? First of all ... who gets to make the "too big to fail" decision? Why the government, of course! And what happens then? Well the same government that brought us Social Security, Medicare, The Postal Service, AMTRAK, and so many other sterling examples of government efficiency and business acumen will be running more and more of American business. Just what we need.
The mad mullahs of Iran are well on their way to building nuclear arms and the best that we can do right now is writing nasty notes and threatening sanctions. Did you know that Iran is the fourth-largest exporter of crude oil but the country cannot meet its own domestic oil needs? So it has to import refined oil products. And as of right now, much of that gasoline comes from the United States. But if these sanctions go into place, Iran already has a backup plan - Venezuela. Yep. Hugo the Horrible has already pledged to export gas to Iran in order to help Iran survive American sanctions.
So now that we know these sanctions aren't going to affect Iran ...... your move President Obama. How about a blockade?
Public enemy number one of the moment is Cadillac insurance plans. The Democrats are trying to focus on these ritzy plans in order to gain support of their plans to limit competition and make you dependent on the government for healthcare. Obama's chief economic advisor Christina Romer says that the tax on Cadillac insurance plans is "probably the number one item that health economists across the ideological spectrum believe is likely to stem the explosion of health-care costs."
Did you hear that? According to Obama's chief economist, the biggest savior to our healthcare system comes in the form of a tax.
Romer says, "It will discourage insurance companies from offering high-priced plans that would otherwise eat up larger and larger shares of workers' wages." So now the government is in the business of dictating how employers set up their wages and benefits for workers. If the government doesn't like the way your company has set up its benefits, tax them to death! Eventually these plans will be eliminated and you will be forced to take on the government option, which will supposedly be cheaper (which it won't be). Then you will magically increase the wages of your employees! See how easy that was in liberal fairy land?
No better way to lead off the reading assignments than something from Mark Steyn. Here's "A Tale of Two Soundbites."
"Where's the Outrage?" Republicans want to know why The Community Organizer gets a pass on some of the very actions that would have brought the media down on Bush like a hammer. Duhhhhhh. The media?
Central Florida's moonbat Congressman Alan Grayson is wearing out his welcome with .... Democrats! His own party! A New York Democrats calls him "One fry short of a Happy Meal."
Harry Reid has officially decided that the Senate will go ahead with a government health insurance option that includes an opt-out provision for states.
Want to know more about the Senate healthcare bill that will be unveiled this week? The Wall Street Journal has the details of what we can expect.
Meanwhile, Harry Reid and the Democrats are making sure that the labor unions are happy with their healthcare bill ... concessions abound.
Yesterday I told you about the 60 minutes special I saw over the weekend about Medicare fraud. Here are more of the details .....
Warning: Democrats don't care about your health. Otherwise they wouldn't pull stunts like this.
Charles Krauthammer says it best ... Obama's foreign policy strategy is to essentially make America one nation among the many.
This columnist says that President Barack Obama is a master at pulling the wool over our eyes - a real professional huckster.
The Democrats want their health reforms to kick in ASAP, so they have something to show the taxpayers when elections roll around next November.
Obama's healthcare reform plans rely on the idea that they will achieve both accessibility and lowering costs. One cannot work without the other. Here's why.
This attempt to institute Obamacare is an assault on our values of individual choice, personal accountability, and rewards for ambition.

The dollar, again, has hit a 14-month low against the Euro and the Yen.
Senate Republican Lamar Alexander says that Obama is promoting a climate change bill that will deliberately kill American jobs. Barbara Boxer got her thong in a wad over that comment. (Sorry for the image)
Despite what the government may tell you, it is still possible for federal employees to make charitable contributions to ACORN through the government's annual workplace charity campaign.

Uh oh ... gay rights activists are now mingling with immigration reformers. This could get ugly.
When it comes to cable news networks, CNN has hit rock bottom.
I guess this is what they learn in journalism school nowadays. No wonder the profession is in decline.
