DMV-STYLE HEALTHCARE

Okay, you already know ... the Senate Finance Committee got their Baucus bill passed. Sadly even though much of the bill wasn't even written when these Senators decided to vote on it. Yup .. you head me right.

Now just how in the world do you pass a bill that isn't even written yet? Well, you have these little goodies called "place holders." These place holders figuratively say "When the bill is written, we will fill in this blank ." Wow! I feel so much better about the legislative process now.

Well .. it's hard to comment on the parts of this bill that haven't even been written yet; but we can sure say something about a line that showed up on the "Plain English" version of the bill which the Senators did have. Right there, in black and white, it said that we would be offered the "convenience" of getting their health insurance at the Department of Motor Vehicles.

What? Yep you read that correctly. You will be able to go to the DMV in order to get health insurance.

Remember just a last week, I played a video for you from BigGovernment.com. It was a parody of a video by some Hollywood actors about health insurance and their evil profits. Well this parody video used the phrase "DMV-style healthcare." Did they know something that we didn't when they produced that video? Seems so. That's exactly what we're going to have! You think renewing your driver's license is a pain now, just wait until you have to wait for some welfare brood mare to sign up her and her litter for health insurance! And it looks like that is closer to reality than we would hope.

According to CNS News, it will be the duty of the Health and Human Services Secretary or the state governments to make sure that you have access to health insurance at the DMV. You would also be able to get government health insurance at .... government schools!

Don't believe me? Page 19 of the committee's "plain English" text says: "The Secretary and/or states would do the following: ... Enable customers to enroll in health care plans in local hospitals, schools, Departments of Motor Vehicles, local Social Security offices, and other offices designated by the state."

I suspect that this is just the first of many wonderful surprises to come from the looters.

I CAN SEE THE CAMPAIGN ADS NOW

After the looters make their nationalized medicine a reality we are, of course, going to see the quality of care decline while the costs skyrocket. There is going to be a big push to reform the reform. Who knows? Maybe someone will come along and suggest some privatization. The looters, of course, will fight back ... hard. I can hear some of the lines in the radio and TV ads they'll run right now:

The Republicans want to take away your health care.

The Republicans believe that only the rich deserve health care.

Vote the Republicans, get the flu, die.

Republicans are dangerous to your health.

As your doctor if no health care is right for you

Hoping ... just hoping ... that with every day that passes just a few more Americans open their eyes to see what the real game is here. This is NOT about your healthcare. This is about CONTROLLING your health care. It is about controlling you. Nothing more.

Why would they be? After all, wealth envy is such an easy card to use on the American public. Most Americans will buy into the demonization of other's success, particularly if it is an evil corporation or business!

So Congressional Democrats are back to their same old tricks: breathing down the necks of the health insurance industry. Their tactic is to regulate the industry into oblivion. The way that you gain support for that regulation is to portray the health insurance industry as the bad guys who need of some serious government intervention.

Chuck Schumer is on a mission to amend the healthcare reform bill to remove antitrust exemptions for insurers. Schumer believes that this law, dating back to the 1960s I believe, is largely to blame for increased medical costs.

What exactly is he referring to? Politico explains: The exemption, known as McCarran-Ferguson, cedes regulatory control of the industry, on the business side, to individual states. But repealing the antitrust exemption would give the federal government more authority to oversee the business side of health insurance companies -- something states now have the sole authority to monitor.

Harry Reid also decided to weigh in on the subject. He says ... and you'll love this quote ... "There isn't anything we could do to satisfy them in this health care bill. Nothing ... They are so anti-competitive. Why? Because they make more money than any other business in America today. . . .What a sweet deal they have."

Oh, so now all of the sudden it is the private businesses that are anti-competitive and the government that is in favor of competition. Amazing how that turned around so quickly. Pardon me if I have this wrong, but isn't it the government that refuses to allow health insurance companies to engage in interstate competition? Isn't it government that tells insurance companies what they must cover? Isn't it the government that prevents a health insurance company from offering a bare-bones policy to those who cannot afford a more comprehensive plan? All this --- and it's the health insurance industry that wants to kill competition?

Even Politico points out that this latest push from the Democrats indicates "that Democrats are planning to intensify their efforts to paint insurance companies as the villains in the health reform fight, something that could prove useful as President Barack Obama and others try to rally a skeptical public around a sweeping health reform measure."

MORE CHANGE YOU CAN BELIEVE IN

This story From Bloomberg seems to be creating a bit of a stir today:

Some of Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner's closest aides, none of whom faced Senate confirmation, earned millions of dollars a year working for Goldman Sachs Group Inc., Citigroup Inc. and other Wall Street firms, according to financial disclosure forms.

The advisers include Gene Sperling, who last year took in $887,727 from Goldman Sachs and $158,000 for speeches mostly to financial companies, including the firm run by accused Ponzi scheme mastermind R. Allen Stanford. Another top aide, Lee Sachs, reported more than $3 million in salary and partnership income from Mariner Investment Group, a New York hedge fund.

As part of Geithner's kitchen cabinet, Sperling and Sachs wield influence behind the scenes at the Treasury Department, where they help oversee the $700 billion banking rescue and craft executive pay rules and the revamp of financial regulations. Yet they haven't faced the public scrutiny given to Senate-confirmed appointees, nor are they compelled to testify in Congress to defend or explain the Treasury's policies.

Boortz take? Is there any charge or any evidence that any of these dollars earned by these Geithner aides were earned illegally? Are we talking criminal activity here? Or are we just demonizing some people who made a lot of money. If there's fraud or other criminal activity then go get 'em. If not, quit the whining.

What makes all of this all the more absurd is that it is Geithner that we should be focusing on, not his workers. He's the tax cheat. He's the willful, intentional, pre-medicated, conscious tax cheat who is now in charge of the cabinet department that runs the IRS. Somehow I have a bit of a problem with that.

In case you're not aware: There's a media lynch mob running around with a noose. They're looking for Rush Limbaugh.

This from PriceWaterhouseCoopers should be all it takes to kill the Baucus healthcare bill. Probably won't though.

A Value Added Tax is to the Democrats what Viagra is to a man with ED. It gives you the chance to really screw someone. Click here for the dangers of the VAT ... and it doesn't include a 4-hour Clinton.

The Dow reached 10,000 yesterday. So does that mean that our economic crisis is fading? Hardly.

Daniel Henniger has a word for Obama's Ignobel Prize. Decadent.

The Democrats are plotting their revenge on the health insurance industry.

Yesterday, the dollar hit a 14-month low against the euro and the price of oil futures rose above 75 dollars for the first time in a year.

And while we are at it ... demonizing the health insurance industry ... let's not forget about those evil banks!

SEIU, the Service Employee's International Union served as ACORN's thug brigade for years. Now they're providing appointees for Obama's government thug brigade.

Despite what Washington may tell you, the greatest risk to our economy is not Wall Street .... It is Washington's massive debt. Tony Blankley will educate you.

From Politico: The Senate appears ready to drop about $20 billion for two pieces of economic stimulus that no one wants to label "stimulus."

The US dollar is almost on par with ... the Canadian Loonie?

You want a sure way to cut healthcare costs? More government isn't one of them.

We have another Republican who is ready for her 15 minutes of fame. Republican Senator Susan Collins (also of Maine) says that she may consider voting for healthcare legislation.

Tell me if these two headlines make you pause for a moment: Russia's Putin warns against intimidating Iran ...... Russia to allow pre-emptive nukes.

Is CAIR really on a mission to plant Muslim interns in the offices of congressmen who are on committees affecting US national security?

Here's an article about an insurance company in New York that was forced to cover people despite pre-existing conditions, and the company ended up canceling lines of coverage in that state rather than continuing to take the hit.

As the economy struggles, Cuba leans away from socialism as the United States inches toward it.

Democrats in the House now represent the richest regions of the United States.

I love it. A birther was fined $20,000 by a federal judge here in Georgia for using the courts "as a platform for a political agenda disconnected from any legitimate legal cause of action."

I like this. A Democratic congressional candidate in Florida returned a campaign check from John Murtha's PAC.

The Democrats are showing their cards. Their plot to pass climate change legislation includes linking global warming to national security. Are you buying this line of horsesqueeze?

All of this talk about economic stimulus and saving jobs ... you know that they meant saving GOVERNMENT jobs, right?

The FCC Commissioner says that Diversity Czar Mark Lloyd's ideas on regulating free speech are "troubling."

Does Barack Obama have another embarrassing appointee on his hands?

Hey wait .. isn't it still hurricane season? The 2009 Atlantic hurricane season has been the quietest in more than a decade.

Should census workers begin asking about immigration status?

FoxNews came up with a list: How to Win the Nobel Peace Prize In 12 Days.

Meghan McCain has figured out a way to appeal to both Republicans and Democrats. Well, at least the straight male versions.
