THE BIG PUSH FOR LABOR UNIONS

Labor Day couldn't have come fast enough for labor unions in this country. They really have their thongs in a wad right now. Why? Because they haven't seen the payoff that they expected for getting all of these Democrats elected. What do they ultimately want? They want Democrats to pass their card check bill. Pass the card check bill and the labor unions can go on their merry way, bullying workers into a giant unionized work-force. And it seems as though the White House pandered right to them. Joe Biden himself promised yesterday that the card check bill would make it through Congress this year. Barack Obama says that "every American owes something to America's labor movement."

Well .. someone had better work on getting this message across to the American people. Polling this morning shows that labor unions are enjoying the lowest approval rating since you kicked the last slat out of your cradle. Only 48% of Americans harbor positive thoughts about labor unions. The purple-shirted thugs from the Service Employees International Union and their actions at the townhall meetings haven't helped labor's image.

What others are saying

  • The unions been doing a good job of keeping their members employed ...
There're a lot of gub'mint employees who're union members. Thanks to "pork stimulus" they've been keeping their jobs ... even though some have had to cut back to a 4-day workweek (sniff!) ... I haven't seen any increase in hiring on the part of the PRODUCERS (gub'mint is a consumer, not a producer). The unions be in hock so's to pay for the best politicians money can buy - hence the bailout for the UAW (give'm GM, give'm Chrysler - I'm not buying any new car anytime soon - when that day comes, I won't be buying Chrysler or GM)
  • unions
As a union member I have to say that I think for the most part, they have out lived their usefulness.I have opposed the views and positions of my union for the last 15-20 years. They are constantly on the wrong side of common sense. All they want to do is increase their membership, not improve the conditions of the present membership.I only stay in it for the insurance. And after they supported ole jug ears,I am seriously thinking about getting out.
  • Republicans turning something good into something bad
Only republicans would find something negative about Labor day. It was beautiful, warm, I played some golf, and here are republicans concerned about labor unions. WAH WAH WAH. Such crybabies
  • So look for the union label....
I saw where unions were given credit for such blockbusters as Social Security, health insurance, and minimum wage. Wow...now that's a legacy to be proud of. Uh...Social Security is basically a scam, robbing Peter to pay Paul, and John, and Mark, and Luke. Health insurance was offered by employers to get top notch workers after WW2, should the unions take credit for that?. Minimum wage is a way to get unskilled laborers into the job market, not a way to reward mediocrity. What a nice attempt at spinning things your way, Dems. I don't dislike the idea of unions to protect workers on the job. But at this point, the jobs being protected are the union leaders and the Democrats they supported. Lenin, and for that matter Lennon, would be proud.
  • Union payback
The enforcement of a proletariat labor union by a governing politbureau.
All this Obamagranda propaganda has over-powering similarities to the "Iron Curtain" countries attacks on capitalism.
