IS NATIONAL SECURITY BACK ON YOUR MIND?

Well ... it never should have left.

For a while, it seems as though this nation has lost a sense of urgency when it comes to matters of national security and terrorism. Maybe that is because the previous administration did a fine job of keeping this country safe after 9/11. Or maybe it is because you feel so safe now that Barack Obama and the liberal Left are in charge and playing nice-nice with those who hate us. But the latest details of these FBI al Qaeda probes warrant a little more than a glancing headline.

Before we continue though ... I want you to count how many times you see the words "Muslim" or "Islam" appear in any articles related to this story.

Moving right along ... Over the weekend the FBI arrested two Muslim men, Najibullah Zazi and his father, Mohammed for making false statements. The FBI had been investigating what they thought was a plot to detonate homemade bombs in the US. Turns out that the son, Zazi received al-Qaida explosives training in Pakistan. He was also found trying to entering New York City two weeks ago with bomb-making instructions on his computer. Backpacks and cell phones were seized in raids on apartments Zazi visited while in New York. The FBI believes that these cell phones could have been used to detonate hydrogen-peroxide bombs hidden in backpacks. Their targets may have included various locations or events in New York City like Subway stations or some fashion show. So these Muslims appeared in New York on Monday. Oops. Called them "Muslims." That's more than the newspapers did.

Now federal authorities are saying that as many as a dozen people may be tied to a suspected al Qaeda bomb plot in the US. So the government has expanded its terrorism warning not just to transit systems but to stadiums, hotels and entertainment complexes around the country.

Worried? Even a little? How far would you want our government to go in trying to get to the bottom of these threats ... and perhaps save lives? Would you care if we poured water on Zazi's head to make him THINK he was drowning, even though he would be in no danger? If not that, could we just deprive him of a little sleep to make him talk?

Nope ... can't do those things. That would be torture. Besides, remember that the White House is now in charge of interrogations ... so maybe now you feel even a little bit safer! Right?

What others are saying

  • libertarians
At least Big Africa and Red Leader are consistent.

I don't agree with them but, they are consistently libertarian in their point of view and idea of limited government.

Joyce, Matt, Jeff and others.... You are republican posers. no wonder you love neal...you guys are part of the problem.

I think real conservatives are truly left in the cold now.

libertarians are too socially liberal and republicans are too fiscally liberal.

conservatives (the Reagan kind) are just twisting in the wind.

too bad... they were the grown-ups of your crowd.
  • Big Africa, what you and so many others fail to understand
is that by removing our presence in the world, we leave huge opportunities for less than savory interests to grow; wonderful historical example is our tete-a-tete with the former Soviet Union during the “Cold War”. That apparition is returning under a new threat in a renewed Russian hegemony and extremist Islamic expansion. Without some measure of a dynamic presence, we will fail to maintain stabile interest areas and availability to resources. Many look to our capability to ensure constancy. Without it, no trade, no encouragement to free market economies and unsafe travel conditions will abound. The Middle East is a perfect example and a better one of why we need to remain engaged. Also, no other nation on earth has either the resource, inclination or the fortitude to take on global rogues – especially the Saudis, Egyptians and Chinese. That is the simple truth. And if we put all of our eggs in the UN basket we invite disaster and a reliance on incapable “allies”. And for what it is worth, our interventions and world actions were prompted by necessity (WW1, WW2, Iraq, Afghanistan) and more often than not by invitation (Korea, Gulf War 1, Somalia, Bosnia, Kuwait) .
  • rejeff
again, you have no clue what security means or how to execute on it.

go back to watching 24 and deepening that dent in your sofa.
  • retim
    LOL!

perfect - "If only enough people would open their eyes and see that truth!"

you and Ivan should start a knitting circle.
  • @ Tim the Libertarian
Yes I mean pull all troops out from just about everywhere. Primarily where congress has not officially and formally declaared war against a tangible enemy. It means Korea, Iraq, Germany...all of them. America can no longer afford to try to police the world anymore with being 11 trillion in debt. The foreign policy is adding billions to the debt every year. The economy is deperately trying to tell us that we are going down the same route as the Soviets and Romans with the police the world mentality. Still maintain trade ties though. Encourage free market trade/capitalism with countries and the encourage travel to other countries and encourage the exchange of ideas with other countries which will make America less isolated than it is right now(just ask the average American to locate Afghanistan on a map). America doesn't have to have troops in places that are not at war with America in order to avoid isolationism. Other countries need to start figuring out their problems on their own without expecting the American tax payer to babysit them. There are countries in the middle east and Asia that will keep rogue nations in check so as to protect their trade avenues and profits. EX: Saudi Arabia,Egypt,Japan and China.
  • New Interrogation Rules
The White House is on top of these terrorist threats. That's why they took charge of the interrogations.

They decided that waterboarding would be used on the most dangerous terrorist suspects.

They will let us know the results as soon as they finish questioning Hannah Giles, James O'Keefe and Andrew Breitbart.

They want there to be no mistake about their attitudes against terrorists.
  • @snarkybird
Did I hit a nerve? I get a lot more than you think. I get that you sympathize with the terrorists. These scum can do whatever they please, to whoever they please as far as you are concerned. Daniel Pearl, Nicholas Berg (I was in the middle east at the time so Nick really hit home), hundreds of innocents in planes, or thousands in buildings, but when our people KNOW that a specific individual has information they need to save lives, an individual who has or has attempted or planned to take other peoples lives, YOU don’t want one hair ruffled on their heads. Those are the circumstances that Neal wrote about. Read it, I did. You make it sound like he wants to go to every Mosque and water board anyone that steps through the door. Like so many others in here I called you on it. Can’t take it?

Did I dismiss Red as naïve or give him a chance to come up with something better? Withdrawing from the world isn’t better, its capitulation and your enemies will come after you all that much harder. He asked good questions, I answered with a few facts that MSM hasn’t bothered with and you think I’m dismissing him.

Also, I vote in every election and in every election blind little followers like you keep voting for the same old Republican and Democrat hacks that make things worse year after year. If only enough people would open their eyes and see that truth!
  • @GAYvin
    >>>BTW GOP nut-jobs, what's the latest on your boy Sean Hannity's promise to undergo waterboarding <<<

So that is libtard talking point of the moment: If you are for waterboarding, then you have to undergo it yourself first!!

I, along with others are for incarceration of criminals, too. Using your demented libtarded mind, does that mean I have to go to jail first in order to be supportive of jailing criminals???

I commit a terrorist attack, Gayvin, then you can waterboard me, OK. Until then, get a clue.

BTW, I think that you should get aborted since you support abortions.
  • @snarkypuss
it works by using any means necessary to get information from one person to prevent someone else from being hurt or killed....it really is as simple as that...and if you wouldnt go that extra step to save your family or friends then you are nothing more than something to scrape off the bottom of our shoe... If I took the importance of your comments and shoved them up a gnat's butt they would roll around in there like a BB in a boxcar...very very sad and very very pitiful. are you the same snarky that told the pitiful story about the poor woman that had to actually work to pay for health insurance for her family...sob sob boo hoo? or was that another member of the snarky team?
  • reivan
you ready for that sandwich board now?

    I changed it a little.

On one side "The End is Near" other side is "World Order"

figured you could explain the quote thing yourself when the throngs of misguided masses swarm you for answers and guidance.
  • Our Founding Fathers
For those of you who question what the Founding Fathers would have thought, they would have been appalled by:

    -The Federal Government
-The People who have forgotten what this country was founded on
-A President and his followers that would not do everything they could to protect, support, and defend the Constitution.

I know everyone was also taught that President (then General) Washington used Biological Warfare (malaria) against his opponents. You knew that didn't you? Waging war means death to your opponents and forcing those who remain to do your will. There is no such thing as touchy-feely war. Either you fight, or go home and shut up. Obama doesn't understand this. Bush only understood to a point. Commit terrorism and you will die must be the loud and clear message. There is no compromise. Otherwise, sit in fear in your house.

BTW- Red Leader. We don't 100% agree, but I ditto your message on securing the boarder. The liars talk out of both sides of their mouth on this one.
  • rejeff
    speaking of holier than thou.

spare us your "we're all just as bad" crap.

that's not even close to how this works, why it matters, or justification for torture by any stretch.

you're "analysis" is a tiny joke rolling around inside a giant drum of anger and it's kind of sad but mostly just pitiful.
  • This torture thing is stupid
Its true that a person being tortured will say anything to stop the pain. This is why anyone accused of heresy by the Catholic Church during the inquisition always ended up pleading guilty so no one knew the truth.
Prison is also torture, physical and psychological torture. How long does anyone think that a young Muslim man will remain a virgin when he's put in the same prison with the AB and MS13?
Waterboarding would be a pleasure in comparison.
  • To snarky
You fail so miserably. Why even try? You are a walking talking Liberal talking point. You are literally exactly like every one of your liberal kin. Wake up before it is too late; while you may still have a single thought in your head that is your own.
  • @Big Africa – Having seen other posts you’ve made I respect your opinion. So I’m asking, how would pulling our troops back not be isolationism? No argument on closing the borders to illegal crossings, tossing the illegals out or that our current tactics our counterproductive. Maybe I’m just misinterpreting what you wrote to mean pulling all our troops in, when you really meant just out of Afghanistan and maybe Iraq (although that one pretty much won).

@Lane – Dayton local news recently reported a 24 year old punk cut off a 72 year old man with his car. He jumped out with an “Assault Rifle” (actually a semi-auto AK-47) and attempted to rob/car jack the old man. The 72 year old Concealed Carry Weapons permit holder put two slugs in the punk, abdomen and arm. A big rifle means big nothing if the innocent person you plan to murder is armed and shoots your stupid butt first! Virginia Tech should have allowed concealed carry, fewer people would have died!

@Raymond – That law has been on the books and used for many years, just because you were ignorant of it, it scares you. Boo hoo.

@tshirt-doctor.com – Neal doesn’t make fun of people that talk bad about health insurance companies. He does make fun of people that push the same tired, untrue and/or outrageous crap that the Dems are saying to justify their “reforms”. He also makes fun of idiots that try to push the Government Takeover Option and the complete MORONS that think that government has any business telling us we have to take care of the lazy. But I’ve never heard him make fun of someone that calls up with a reasoned argument based on information that hasn’t already been proven false, and by the way, I have heard him make fun of people using untrue and/or outrageous claims to fight the “Government Takeover Option.”
  • re-Joyce
you know me. i don't like insurance companies. long ago, i thought that car insurance companies, if you didn't have a claim against them, ought to refund half the money you sent them.

i guess that why no one in the insurance companies has offered to made me CEO. :O)
  • the sin of ommission...........
BIG JOE.......I should have included you in my answer to RED.....sorry...
  • this may damage your reputation................

you offer points to the dumbasses that have no clue as to why they wanna keep on going down the crapola trail.....

I have no easy answers for you my brutha from anutha mutha....my memory is pretty well shot but aren't our young warriors going down the path that us older ones been down.....fightin' wit' boxin' gloves on?????

if it was up to me the border would be a shootin' range with no bag limits......
  • retim
tim, please spare me your "clarification" posts where you prance about sorting through posts and sprinkling your pearls of wisdom upon the other posters here.

    you don't get it.

you didnt even catch that I was responding to what neal wrote about this, not what the circumstances were of the case.

and red leader makes a valid point but, you dismiss it as naive?

ridiculous! Neal is a libertarian - make no bones about it (his words, not mine) and red is absolutely taking the libertarian stand on this issue.

and your response is - "Until we stand up to these professional politicians and elect real people to congress it won’t get any better either."

we who? "we" voted....where were you?

oh wait - is this the tired "uneducated masses" "the people dont know the truth" argument?

If only enough people knew the truth!

    ok Ivan...
  • rebigjoe
You said "How do we have "national security" when the Obama administration is sending U.S. taxpayer money to terrorist groups? That's right, they're FINANCING terrorist groups!"

and then this "We WILL be attacked again, and Americans KNOW we will be attacked again....it's only a matter of "when"? I just hope it's not muslims, cause Obama said he would stand with the muslims should the political winds shift."

And then said "Barack Hussein Obama is Un-American. He's anti-American. He, his wife, his preacher and his friends all HATE THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

A disaster in the making, we are. I think the guy in the White House WANTS us to be attacked again. What evidence shows otherwise?"

So, seriously - you've now accused the president of willingly doing things to create an attack on this country, think he will stand with those who attack it, and call him a traitor.

    pathetic whining coward.

Either way, you deserve what you get.
  • because
Doc said: "if you don't think they are talking heads for large corporate interests why does neil boortz make fun of whoever talks bad about health insurance companies?"

Because we're even less talking heads of government!

And really, it isn't up to others to decide who's a neocon or not cause frankly, there are too many definitions out there. And I'm not talking about the Webster variety. I know what I am, and don't care what others think about what I am.

So neocon away! I know I trust insurance companies a heck of a lot more than I do the government.
  • What I really mean to say...

I want Americans to be tortured...

I mean it would be bad if only the muslims had the pleasure of having their heads chopped off with a dull knife...

I want all of Americans to experience the pain

    I mean the pleasure.

    Afterall, Americans=Bad Everyone else=good

    Te He Snark!
  • non-neo-con answers to Red
    Before the answers –
@Snark – get a grip drip! They caught these jerks with the goods, no profiling, no brown skin crap. You are a COMPLETE loser! You can’t even stay on subject or on target! No one but YOU said anything like that!

@Commoner – Nice twist! Personally I find the idea of chemical interrogation more to my liking than the harsh methods, but I’m not a pro so maybe there are drawbacks I don’t know about. The pig’s blood would probably add a degree or two. I’d rather leave it to the Applied Psych Intel guys that make a living knowing how to get answers from these nutjobs, and I wish congress would too!

Ok. Red’s answers – We can’t abandon these countries to their own devices, they have Oil and we need it. Sucks, but that’s life! Live with it or jump off a building! If you chose to jump, don’t even begin to think I’ll jump with you! We also can’t just depose the dictators and install democracies, please reference Iraq and Afghan clusterf@#ks. We can and do, encourage them to reform; it just hasn’t been getting too far in most places.
Have you been to ANY of these places? I’ve been to Kuwait. Not a bad place really. The Emir has been slowly steering his people into a democracy and away from fanaticism for years, women recently got the right to vote even. So you might want to consider that not all of the “dictators” are as bad as made out, some are even pushing their people in more peaceful directions. In point of fact, from some of the things I’ve heard the Saudi King might want to move away from shari’a law, but he cannot just do it by decree. He works against the religious establishment and some of his own family work against him. His working against shari’a law is one of the reasons bin Laden hates him!
Yes Red, our foreign policy has sucked and still sucks, but what the MSM tells you cannot prepare you to come up with one that is even a little bit better. The professionals muddle through the best they can and we the people get in their way and/or let our politicians get in their way. Should we just isolate ourselves?
As for the borders and illegal aliens here at home, have you bothered to watch congress? Any attempt to fix the borders or address the illegal population runs into the Democratic/Republican anti-cooperation brick wall. Until we stand up to these professional politicians and elect real people to congress it won’t get any better either.
  • oowwwww baby........................
NCchik..........oooowwwwwwww baby you be lookin' fine today.......new do?....and no those jeans don't make yo' butt look big.......

now you leave those lil' retard'd chirren 'lone.....they's cain't he'p it......
  • torture
If it meant saving the life of someone you know then every one of you would get out the carving knife so please spare us the holier than thou crap.
  • wire taps
One of the main suspects listed is an imam. Ahad Wais Afzali is an imam and an informant who tried to tip off the other suspects that they were being monitored. We have to rely on wire taps as one of the few means to capture these guys. We cannot send in undercovers to get the job done more effectively because they do most of their planning and meeting inside of a mosque. The FBI will not send any undercovers inside a mosque because it may offend the worshippers and violate their right to practice free speech. Okay, I'm all for 1st Amendment but I do have one scenario I would like to put forth.
Several abortion clinics around the US are bombed simultaneously killing hundreds. Four white men that belong to a Southern Baptist congregation take credit. Do you think the FBI would have a problem sending undercovers to that church?
  • Happened on "OBAMA'S WATCH"
Did George W. Bush leave his watch in the White House? Cause for eight years, every single thing that happened with this country happened....."ON BUSH'S WATCH!"

Sorry, liberals. All this stuff is now happening on "OBAMA'S WATCH!". Sucks when your same standards are applied to yourselves, now doesn't it.
  • To Red Leader & Ivan
Red Leader want ivan said about you being a true conservative. you're not alone here.

Ivan got it right when he said that the mass majority of Republicans call themselves Conservatives but literally have no clue they are infact neocons. that's goes for libertarians too.
if you don't think they are talking heads for large corporate interests why does neil boortz make fun of whoever talks bad about health insurance companies?
  • can I get........................
TO ALL MY BRUTHAS FROM ANUTHA MUTHA....can I get an AkkkkkkkkkkkMED???....got room fo' one mo' on the high divin' water board.......
  • I don't know Gavin
BTW GOP nut-jobs, what's the latest on your boy Sean Hannity's promise to undergo waterboarding in order to raise money for the families of the troops? He could do it right on stage during one of his Freedom Concert scams.
    By Gavin Volaire

Why don't YOU ask him, since you are the only one who cares? Let us know what you find out.

And it's really disgusting for any libs to be insinuating that ANYONE would be glad to see another attack. That's sick. I wouldn't even accuse Obama of that one.
  • Change that we'll regret
With President Obamuppet at the helm, this administration will long be remembered as Change we'd like to forget.
  • rencchick
    absolutely! whatever it takes!

which is why we torture criminals to save lives!

    oh wait...

Which is why we torture POW's to save lives!

    oh wait...

Which is why we gained valuable intelligence to save our troops in Iraq!

    oh wait...

Which is why we gained intelligence that stopped the LA tower bombing!

    oh wait...

I know it makes you feel good to get all buggered up and shout "kill! Kill! kill!" when it comes to getting "them" to talk. But, anyone who does this will tell you that torture does not work.

Of course, we'll then argue about waterboarding but - to your "whatever it takes" argument, you'd be wrong. In fact, you'd not only be wrong but asking our folks to waste precious time instead of doing what DOES work so they can enact your sick version of vengeance.
  • reivan
    LOL!!

linking your philosophy to how drudge cages a story..

    now that IS funny...

the quote ""No world order that elevates one nation or group of people over another will succeed."

    See...FUNNY!
  • reterry
what undermines the seriousness of this issue is guys like neal myopically pointing to a single religion as needing to be the highlight of any article describing terrorists.

Or, proposing that torture of these people is productive and allows us to be more safe.

neither are true and both are ignorant readings of history as it relates to gathering intelligence or combating terrorism.
  • @By Red Leader @ 09/23/09 08:46:18 AM
    Great questions.

To those claiming Obama wants a terrorist attack on American soil, he doesn't want it nearly as badly as GOP die-hards like you and Hannity. You people just can't wait -- as if it will somehow justify the Bush years.

How on earth did we uncover this plot without Chain Dickey torturing people?

BTW GOP nut-jobs, what's the latest on your boy Sean Hannity's promise to undergo waterboarding in order to raise money for the families of the troops? He could do it right on stage during one of his Freedom Concert scams.
  • To Red Leader
Excellent points from a true conservative. What is so funny is that the mass majority of Republicans call themselves Conservatives but literally have no clue they are infact neocons. I am so glad that alternative media is waking people up in this country. By the way to all those reading this...Boortz, Beck, Hannity, and Limbaugh ARE NOT alternative media. They are talking heads for large corporate interests and are part of the problem and not the solution. If these personalities keep pushing the party line and refuse to talk about what is REALLY going on they will be viewed as being complicit in what our government is doing.
  • Whew...
You guys are gonna be so pissed when you start learning the truth about all this terrorist mumbo jumbo. Oh did you guys catch the news headline on Drudge today about Obama's UN address? Rofl.
  • oh I hate doin' this............
well I'm goin' to regret this cuz then the chirpin' starts.........

the bird brain gets it right with his reply to commoner.....just left out the salt water along with the alcohol.....
  • Lane Meyer:
Bush did not "let that assault ban expire". Bush, in fact, supported the ban and publicly declared that he would renew it if it crossed his desk. His Attorney General Ashcroft PUSHED FOR a new AWB. Sorry, but that is one you can't pin on Bush. In fact, the Dems ruled Congress for the last two years AND had a President willing to sign the ban. EVEN NOW, those same conditions exist. So... for the last THREE YEARS, you could say that DEMOCRATS have been unwilling to pass a new AWB.
  • National Security....
Let's see, Clinton lets us down on National security and we end up with 9/11. Obama let's us down... an the plans have already begun.

Folks, this latest bomb plot is highly reminiscent of the FIRST World Trade Center bombing... in 1993. Clinton did not take it.. or the USS Cole, or Riyadh bombing, or Somolia, or any of half dozen "little" incidents seriously... and we had 3000 people die. Sandy Berger had to sneak documents out of the library of congress in the crotch of his pants to cover their tracks!

So yeah, I'm worried about national security when terrorist groups are actively seeking to bomb targets in this country, when we have a Prez who has given Iran the greenlight to develop nukes, when we have a Prez who is ready to throw in the towel in Afghanistan and Pakistan, when we have a Prez who has caved to the Russians, when we have a Prez who refuses to stick up for Democratic ideals in Iran and Honduras in favor of the corrupted leadership. The list goes on and on. This president has purposefully shown weakness in every way. Anywhere in the world where people once had hope... their hopes are dashed.
  • real scumbag..............................
the presidunce is a scum bag...........he can't even look a blind guy in the eye......drudge page....osamabama and gov patterson......
  • More scared of the FBI
I'm more scared of the fact that they were picked up for lying to the FBI rather than terrorist charges.
  • Everyone knows there's no such thing as an islamic terrorist. Janet Napolitano said so. These people are merely "disenfranchised persons sympathetic to the oversees contingency and their struggle". Why everyone knows the only terrorists are those evil right wing teaparty mobs, right Brian, Snarky and Lane. Those libtards. Ha! Bet you've get all your information re/Bush and Iraq from Huff Po. You would never, like, really, really confuse yourself w/the facts.
  • Wire Taps
BTW, you libtards screamed bloody murder over the appalling use of phone taps on terrorists to get valuable info all last year. That was your "crisis du jour'.

I am sure that much of the info received on these "peace-loving" Muslims was obtained through phone conversations.

So, now, I want you libtards, and Obozo himself, to stand up, do a prime time speech and say "I understand that Law enforcement used phone taps to track down these terrorists. Yes, the evidence led to thwarting a massive scale terrorist attack that could have claimed thousands of lives. HOWEVER, what LE did was wrong and against the law. That is why we will not only let these terrorists go free, because evidence was obtained illegally, but we will make sure we punish all LE officials responsible for this horrid act of listening to terrorisits' phone calls."
  • re: commoner, snarkybird
Could you lay off the disgusting imagery.
LOL, It's almost time for breakfast out here.
  • @snarky
Snark, now your talkin,I knew you would come around!
  • @Commoner
    >>>>Drown em'
They should be waterboarded with pig's blood instead of water.<<<<

Commoner, that may be the only smart thought you have had since you started trolling this board.
  • Wait a minute, I don't understand, wasn't Barack the magnificent supposed to get the world to love us again?
Hasn't he been apologizing right and left for the US at every opportunity?
  • @snarky and his followers
to answer Neal's question - "How far would you want our government to go in trying to get to the bottom of these threats ... and perhaps save lives? Your response to recommoner, though meant as sarcasm, would not bother me in the least if it meant saving American lifes. Enhanced interrogation - sleep deprivation, waterboarding - is no more than our Marines go through. Is this where you tell me that our American forefathers would be ashamed because somehow I think not. Whatever it takes to save American lives. At least we don't include rape, which seems to be the choice of islamic interrogators.
  • Forget the terrorists...
The greatest threat to the country and our way of life is our current government.
  • A kinder, gentler FBI
Of course, any good lib knows that all you have to do to make the terrorists see the error of their ways is to sit down with them over milk and cookies.

Modern FBI Agent: You see, Achmed, when you blow up a busload of people, you don't just kill them. You hurt their feelings, too. You wouldn't like it if someone blew YOU up with a homemade bomb, would you?

Achmed: (wide-eyed, speaking a la Jerry Mathers) Gee, Mr. Agent. I never thought of it that way. Golly, I feel bad, now.

Modern FBI Agent: (patting him on the back) So now, won't you tell me what your little friends are up to? We understand that some of them are planning some sort of explosion somewhere, but darned if we can figure out where it will be.

Achmed: Promise you won't be mad?

Modern FBI Agent: Scout's honor. Here. Have another cookie.

Achmed: Well...(proceeds to tell Agent all he knows about the next terrorist act his fellows have planned)

Modern FBI Agent listens gravely, looking concerned, like Mr. Brady when one of the kids confesses to doing something naughty. At one point, he hands Achmed his handkerchief, so he can wipe his eyes.

Modern FBI Agent: Thank you, Achmed. Don't you feel better now?

Achmed: I sure do, Mr. Agent! And I'll never blow anyone up with a bomb again! And that's a promise!

Modern FBI Agent: Attaboy! Come on, let's go play ball!

    Achmed: Swell!

Laugh track and applause swells as the theme song to "Leave It To Beaver" plays in the background.

And that, ladies and gents, is how today's liberals would handle the terrorist threat to our country. And we all know that's exactly how it would turn out, right?
  • What is it about New York?
We Southerners are starting to get an inferiority complex here. How come the Muslim terrorists always want to blow up something in New York? New York offends me as well but I don't want to blow it up.
Could it be that Atlanta or Birmingham aren't offensive enough to terrorist Muslim sensitivities?
This could be a question best answered by a New York liberal.

Bush so geniusly let that assault weapons ban slide. What a better way to keep terrorists from attacking than to let them buy automatic weapons.

Last time I checked you still can not purchase an automatic weapon. Either you know this and are disingenuous and hoping people are ignorant that they do not know that purchasing an assault weapon is not the same as purchasing a automatic weapon.

Also you do you think Thomas Jefferson thought that only the Federal Government is the only ones to have superior weaponry?
  • @ Lane
Most of the casualties at virginia tech were caused by a crazy man who was allowed to by a gun due to a technicallity in VA gun laws and a mistake by a judge. Oh, and the gun he used was a .22 caliber handgun. His gun was legal in the U.S. before, during, and after the 1994 AWB.

Also, the 1994 AWB had nothing to do with automatic weapons. It only delt with cosmetic attachments to semi-automatic platforms. Those darn bayonet lugs are oh so dangerous when attached to a gun with a pistol grip and collapsable stock.

Of course guns that used the exact same action, round, and barrel could be legal or illegal based upon the combination of the affomentioned cosmetic attachments.

Also, muskets could easily be fired 3 times per minute by an experienced user.

Just so you know automatic weapons have always been legally owned by average citizens in this country. The 1994 AWB did nothing to affect automatic weapons. But thanks for playing and showing your ignorance of this important issue.
  • weak kneed lefties
I just love to read post by posters like lane meyers, A semi-auto is not a full-auto aka leftist names assault rifle. Ask Jamie Gorelick all about the lengths she went to to allow the 9-11 attacks to happen under Wild bill's admin. No communication between law agencies, etc, As far as the second amendment is concerned it is in place for Americans to defend themselves from a government out of control. I didnt agree with everything GW Bush did but I damn sure think he did one hell of a job taking radical Islam to task for its world wide murder campaign that was left unchecked for thirty some years.
Recently we have had the apprehension of more muslim radicals in this country trying to murder innocents, you can thank the policies of GWB for this, If the left had had its way the man would have never been stopped reentering the country as it would have been profiling or some other assinine rights violation.
What a pathetic weak whining society we have these days, everything is expected to be handed to them nothing is to be earned. Just read these whining posts and see what I mean lol.

Yeah, Neal, with names like that, coupled with their pictures, I would have thought they were Southern Baptists from Alpharetta. Thanks for clarifying it for me. Can't wait for the next bit of revealing news from you that the "mainstream media" won't tell you.
  • Re: Red Leader
    Good points...
The answer of course is oil. We are in the Middle East because that is where the resource of oil is located.

If we as a country decided after 9-11 that instead of invading countries we would put US resources towards developing non-carbon based energy, we would likely have true energy independence.

  • There is no war on terror...
The very second I see a secured border and droves of illegal aliens heading back to their respective countries, then and ONLY then will I believe that America is actually serious about fighting islamic fascism. The same people saying there's a threat are the same ones leaving the border wide open. It defies logic. The understood the threat centuries ago from the Mongols and built the great wall of China. Until the U.S/Mexico border is closed and illegals are heading home, America is wasting the valuable lives and time of our brave men and women in uniform. Those 3rd world people over there have no military with which to strike America, yet the Feds send troops over there instead of simply securing America itself. If you believe in this 'war on terror' garbage, you're simply drinking the cool-aid. For those of you about to call me names, save it for someone who might change their mind, someone you can affect. I am immovable on this position, and there's just no 2 ways about it. WE NEED REAL CONSERVATISM, the conservatism of the people who founded this country that were pro non-interventionism and anti-isolationism.
  • Hey Lane
Paper Boy is looking for you...
  • Interested
This administration is more interested in hassling those who are protecting this country ( CIA, Military)than protecting it from further harm. Elections DO have consequences.
  • Security
I saw a story just this morning on the MSM regarding the potential of "soft targets", soft targets being malls, hotels, etc. (some of us wondered why the hell "terrorists" didn't hit something like that already to be honest). The story concluded with the reporter and anchors ALL saying that having airport-style security at these locations may be in the near future and "we'll just get used to it". F-THAT!

I could quote Franklin, but there is no need. Those who would understand the quote already know and those who never heard of it are the precise people he was referring to.

Anyway, ANY business who participates in such federally mandated security will no longer attain my business. If we would simply CONTROL THE BORDERS, TRACK NON-AMERICANS and KICK FOREIGN NATIONALS HERE ILLEGALLY OUT, then we wouldn't have these issues. This is AMERICA....

    or rather it was....
  • Right wing caricatures here
Big Joe, when you say the president is "un-American and hates America", you are serving as a caricature of the nutcase right wing extreme and hurting the conservative cause more than helping it. Besides that, it's juvenile . . . no make that second grade . . simpleminded name-calling.

You know what, I get the feeling you're one of these people fantasizing about another 9-11 kind of attack so you can have a field day blaming Obama for it. And that, my friend, is the ultimate in un-American sentiment.
  • Liberals only
I want a liberal to answer one question for me, please:

What is Barack Hussein Obama doing to make the United States safer?
  • Stating the obvious
Yeah, Neal, if it weren't for you spreading the truth that these folks are Muslims, everyone would have guessed they were Mormons. Thank goodness for people like you to state what nobody else ever would have figured out.
  • rebigjoe
If you believe what you believe - that obama is anti american, supporting terorrism, not protecting the country with ill intent and would stand with those that seek to harm the US...

where does that get you? if you're not taking up arms now, then what are you?

    other than a coward.

sorry - other than a coward with a big mouth.
  • Reason for the season
I mean really, would these people have any other reason to attack us than their religion? Isn't it written in their own books that if you can't convert then you are blessed to destroy them?

If it is written in their own books then we HAVE to address this as a Muslim terrorist problem. Not just a terrorist problem. I don't see Hindus attacking us in large numbers or writing that we have to die. Arab people who are NOT Muslim are not attacking us.

Of course again, how can we take anything seriously as long as our borders are not secure.
  • Cheer baby Cheer!
Remember, here in the United States after the brutal September 11, 2001 attack on our country...how the muslims went down to the streets and danced and cheered and passed out candy? Yep, they did this here on our own soil. You don't think their husbands and sons are planning to attack at some point in the future? I do.
  • recommoner
and then given a thousand slices with a razor blade and dipped in alcohol!

and then made to freeze and not sleep for weeks.

and then waterboarded with pigs blood and jack daniels!

    then they'll talk...those lying scheming muslims...dirty people.

they deserve the worst. all of them!
  • Commoner and Snarky
You guys are idiots. How do you expect anyone on "the other side" of this issue to take a person on the conservative side of this issue seriously when you are spouting forth idiotic comments like you made? It might make you feel good for a moment when you make the post, but it undermines the seriousness of the issue. Sometimes it's better to just shut your pie-hole than to say something stupid.
  • ?
Does our Homeland Security actually believe they are gonna stop a million+ dangerous, armed, anti-American, foreigners who are running loose and free in our country? They're here for one reason only.......and it's only a matter of time.
  • National "Security"
Neil and his Republitard followers answer, as always, is "let's just torture someone". Yeah, our founding fathers would be so proud of you. And gee, torture always results in such "high quality" intel. I mean, look at Iraq and the WMD's...lol.

And the Republitards wonder why they're in a death spiral. Sadly, most of them don't realize how much everyone is laughing at them because they're too busy watching Faux News aka the GOP PR dept.
  • Last Administration did a great job
HAHAHA, Neal that is a good one, you are on fire. I am sure all the students at Virginia Tech agree with you there. And when Bush so geniusly let that assault weapons ban slide. What a better way to keep terrorists from attacking than to let them buy automatic weapons. I am sure that is what Thomas Jefferson wanted when he was taking 10 minutes to load 1 bullett in his musket. Bush was the biggest weenie w/ National Security and it started w/ him not listening to a report about terrorists using airplanes to attack America. Another way was him building a wall that wasnt nearly long enough across the mexican border.
Thank Goodness, Obama the pirate-sniper cares about the security of Americans
  • When we are attacked again
it will be just another crisis they can't let go to waste.

They might even let it happen...

Oh wait, that's what Bush did, right? Just ask Van Jones.
  • We're safe, of course
    Because it's not a 9/10/2001 mentality, it's a 12/6/1941 one.
  • National Security?!
There is no such thing as "national security" for the United States. First of all, our borders are wide open, and any border-patrol agent who tries to stop foreigners from crossing our border gets arrested. Yes, the border agent gets arrested for defending our country! How do we have "national secrurity" when the Obama administration leaked sensitive nuclear information on the internet, for all enemies of the U.S. to see and use? Do we have "national security" when anti-American communists take-over our country? How do we have "national security" when the Obama administration is sending U.S. taxpayer money to terrorist groups? That's right, they're FINANCING terrorist groups! That should keep us safe. How do we have "national security" when Barack Obama is slashing our national nuclear defenses? How does a broke, bankrupt country have "national security"? Do we defend ourselves by borrowing money from the people who are attacking us?

We WILL be attacked again, and Americans KNOW we will be attacked again....it's only a matter of "when"? I just hope it's not muslims, cause Obama said he would stand with the muslims should the political winds shift.

Barack Hussein Obama is Un-American. He's anti-American. He, his wife, his preacher and his friends all HATE THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

A disaster in the making, we are. I think the guy in the White House WANTS us to be attacked again. What evidence shows otherwise?
  • Naive Administration
The current Administration will be remembered for an unprecedented level of naivete. Over the next few years, they will make Jimmy Carter look like the most pragmatic guy in the world. Sadly, I believe that Americans are going to die because of these ill-founded beliefs. The idea that Terrorists will stop trying to kill us and that tin-hat Dictators will suddenly have a change of heart just because we think the best of their intentions is a bad and dangerous policy.

While the Republicans did a piss-poor job of running the country before Obama was swept into office, I am absolutely convinced that they are about to get a second chance to show their stuff. Let's hope THEY don't screw it up, too.
  • The questions that must be asked when addressing terrorism, that Neal often forgets to ask...
If Arabs were on American soil, building military bases, redrawing America's geo-political boundaries and trying to get Americans to conform to shari'a law would Americans be angry? Angry enough to use violence?

Why does the federal govt continue to give 'federal aid' to known dictators that enforce shari'a law, then tell us terrorists are threatening America?

Which developing nations does the U.S arms trade make deals with and how does that affect terrorism?

If there is any threat, why hasn't the border been secured and all illegal aliens encouraged to head home?

The CIA has said Al Queda is using troop presence on the arabian Peninsula as an efficient recruitment and radicalization tool...why isn't the U.S addressing this ?

Why is it the same people saying America is threatened by terrorism still allow the border to remian unsecured with illegals streaming in?

With America now 11 trillion in debt should it fight wars abroad where countries have no airforce or navy to reach America, or should America concentrate on border/passport security at home to fight islamic fascism?

If you look on the FBI's most wanted list, why isn't Osama bin Laden accused of the 9/11 attacks?

Would America have liked middle easterners meddling in their internal affairs since world war I?

Do people understand that 9/11 was a REACTION to bad foreign policy in the middle east?

Just some questions that address unavoidable truths. I guess now its time for the neo-con scum on here to call me names because they cannot logically argue against a TRADITIONAL conservative perspective.
  • Drown em'
They should be waterboarded with pig's blood instead of water.
