Oh how I would have liked to have been sitting on the Fox & Friends curvy couch this morning when they interviewed presidential mouthpiece Robert Gibbs. Here's a hint on how that interview would have gone.

When Gibbs made a reference to people who are " ... fortunate enough to have health insurance." I would have stepped right in:

Excuse me, Mr. Gibbs .. are you saying that some people have health insurance just because they're lucky? Is this really a matter of luck? Are you going to tell a head of household who has sacrificed to make sure that his family is properly insured that he was just lucky? That he was just fortunate? And are you also telling us that heads of household who don't provide their family with insurance aren't irresponsible, they were just not fortunate? Does the Obama Administration think that individual responsibility plays any role in the health care debate?

Hey .. you on the curvy couch. Stop wimping out.

What others are saying

  • Ferret Face
Has there ever been a more annoying White House spokesman than Mr. Gibbs. He reminds me of Frank Burns from the old M*A*S*H TV show...'Ferret Face'
  • The "less fortunate"
I do not throw this phrase around often, (because it makes you look like a tosser if you do so) so know that I do not make this statement lightly. While the aforementioned head of the household was more than fortunate (hard working) you cannot deny that there are those who do not have insurance because they truly are (!) less fortunate.

There are conditions that are so costly that no insurance company will insure an individual with them because it could not possibly increase their profit margin. The parents who support these kids will find it impossible to get individually insured, and thus will be stuck getting employer insurance and will not have alternate employment options. These people, who through no fault of their own have a terrible condition, cannot get individual coverage and are (!) less fortunate.
  • Run Forrest, run!
    Gump lives. What a douchebag...really.
  • I quit watching F&F when E.D. Hill left.
She’s an excellent interviewer (way better than babwa wawa), and once reduced a gore attempted election theft apologist to stammering. You don’t want to try to ‘splain that lipstick smear to her. I also like her ‘cause she caught her husband cheating and kicked him to the curb. That takes a lot guts and self respect (dare I say real self-esteem) even if you are set financially. Oh, and she's pleasant to look at and hear. Oink.
  • By Jove - I've got It!
I knew this guy reminded me of somebody - it's been bugging the $hi! outta me. Does this line ring a bell with anybody?
"Dr Strauss says I shoud rite down what I think and remembir and evrey thing that happins to me from now on..."

Been many many years since I read that book...
  • RE: Fortunate
Neal you are forgetting that most of these guys are Publicly Educated, DOE funded University tools. To them, Fortunate from the root word Fortune taken in the context of "Man that guy has a Fortune" you know Fortune 500, meaning filthy stinkin rich, not necessarily "lucky". It is entirely understandable how they could take their wealth envy and cast it as luck when using such ignorance in word structure.
  • Gibbs & Friends
The only thing that I find entertaining about "Beltway Bob" Gibbs, is the way his face contorts when he gets upset! It reminds me of his "separated at birth" brother Baghdad Bob!
  • I know!
I see the Dude is back under another name
    unreal...
    By Kevin

Creepy using my name. And whoever it is, obviously does not understand me!

Back to Gibbs, he had to find the most benign show on Fox to make an appearance??? LOL! Fox & Friends is nothing but fluff. Almost as bad as Katie.
  • @Kevin
The Dude is Klubber Lang is Brian Fantana is probably several other pseudonyms. He doesn't even try to vary his writing style between names.
I also suspect GavinVolaire is snarkybird.
And Stan's #1 Fan did his thing, so stop with the imitation!
  • This Gibbs guy ...
What a wimpy looking tool this guy is.
He reminds me of Mr. PC in those PC vs. Mac commercials. But more of a dork.
Ever see him try to stand up to criticism at his press conferences? He performs the same way he would in a real fight, poorly.
I seem to remember W. actually talking to the press far more often than his spokesman did, but Hussein is always hiding behind Mr. PC because Hussein is even worse at taking criticism in person than Gibbs is.
Can anybody remember a time when Barack had a retort ready and I'm not talking about his infamous "canned and planned reactions" that he delivers weeks after criticism is leveled.
  • I wish you had been there, too, Neal
They missed a lot of opportunity to accurately frame the debate and didn't do it. Like when Gibbs was talking about how his friend in Alabama only had 6 companies to choose from when he was shopping for health insurance for the employees of his small business. No one brought up the current regulations that have caused that to happen and let him get away with his statement that a public option would solve that. The laws could be changed to solve that situation without creating another entitlement program.
  • Amazes
It amazes me that when the right is given a great pitch to hit, then either do not swing or they swing and miss.
Sorry for the baseball analogy. Neal is right yet again.
  • I see the Dude is back under another name
    unreal...
  • Inferences ROCK
Yes, I agree with all republicans to make lots of inferences on all democrats based on one statement that one democrat made. Excuse me, after I go to my save Terry Schiavo Rally, I then need to go to a "Help Iraq w/ American Tax payer rally" and then I need to go to a klan rally. YAH REPUBLICANS
  • Fortunate??
I pay out of pocket for my own insurance because my employer does not offer it. As a result, I go without things I might have treated myself to in the past. Does this make me fortunate? It has nothing to do with that, it's called taking responsibility for yourself and being an adult. Gibbs is pandering to all of the Obama voters who refuse to grow up, and just want the government to take care of them. At the expense of people like me who are oh-so-fortunate of course.
