ACORN JUST KEEPS ON GIVING

Clearly we know of the recent scandals involving ACORN ... unless you have been living under a rock. Or you are Charlie Gibson. But at any rate, it turns out that after all the fuss and calls for ACORN to sue FOX News ... ACORN can't legally operate in the state of Maryland. Here's the deal:

According to the following documents, ACORN, Inc. - the parent organization of all things ACORN - forfeited its corporate charter in Maryland in 2006. ACORN Housing forfeited its corporate charter in 2008. Any ACORN office in the state of Maryland is potentially operating illegally.

This leads me to the latest Republican endeavor ... defunding ACORN. House Republicans have introduced the Defund ACORN Act to make sure that ACORN does not receive one more penny from the taxpayers.

This, as we've already pointed out, is most certainly based on racism.

If the Democrats treat this the same way they have treated Republicans proposals, bills and amendments on healthcare ... it isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

What others are saying

  • @3mbw
of course it is a conservative site...liberal sites would never reveal obama's true road to the whitehouse.
  • Gibson and Acorn
So all of you liberals out there will not watch Charlie "Bush Doctrine" Gibson anymore right? After all, we want to be consistent. If Palin is not smart enough to be President, surely this demonstrates that Gibson is not a source we would want to watch news from right?

    Silly Liberals!

Ok. I forgot. No one is really getting their news from Gibson anyway.
  • 3mbw
Hey 3, why don't you address the issues in the article and tell us what is wrong about it? With your sources please.
  • Not racism, but still wrong...
...if they are only defunding ACORN. That, as I'm sure you're aware, would be a "bill of attainder."

I'm not familiar with the bill, but defunding *any and all* organizations under indictment similar to ACORN would be a legitimate law.
  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !!
    3MBW rode the bus !!
The short one for sure !!

If you can't see the problem with ACORN, then you haven't been paying attention.

And, like the rest of you..I'm curious as to who the 7 are who voted against it.
  • @Jeff on Obama and ACORN
Next time how about providing a link to a credible source instead of a conservative propaganda site
  • @3mbw
please educate yourself about Obama's realtionship with ACORN.

  • 3MBW
I believe candidate Obama asked us, during the campaign, to judge him by the company he kept. He was (and is) a community organizer (aCOrn). Even koolaid drinkers can connect the dots.
  • Acorn
The whole world is watching Barry, are you going tell the AG to implement a real investigation of your old bosses or not. What irks me, is the the Senate could order all of these head Acorn and SEIU race pimps to DC and grill them, but they won't because they are more worried about juicing up in Baseball.
  • One of two things
If Gibson, a news reporter and journalist, is telling the truth that he hasn't heard of this, then he is the most incompetent news reporter on the face of the planet. An absolute moron who is not doing his job. That's the equivalent of a prime-time NFL reporter not hearing that Tom Brady or Vick are back this season. On the other hand, if he has heard of this and is just making an excuse, then he is a shameless liar. Which is it, Charlie? Are you an absolute braindead dolt or a liar?

QUESTION: Does anyone know what Acorn's logo represents? It looks like peni$ or a passifier? Anyone know where that came from? My guess it has some communist or marxist symbology.
  • ACORN's sister group SEIU
They are both part of CCI by the way. SEIU interferred in California's already negotiated deal with health care works that would have saved the state billions of dollars. The workers had already agreed to the temporary reduction to help the state out in a time of trouble, but SEIU could just not let that happen. Of course liberals just say "good for them".
  • republicans
It is true that any proposed bill fromt he republicans is DOA. IT is also true that the Democrats have said that i they can't get some republicans to sign on to health care reform, they will (or all purposes) change the rules in the senate so they can pass it with 50 votes. All Republicans should, from this point on, vote "Present" on any and all bill votes in the senate or house.
  • Jon Stewart
Attention Charlie G and others from The Mainstream Media:
Watch Jon Stewart on Comedy Central for info on the Acorn-Prostitution thing.
Go to comedycentral.com and look for "The Audacity of Hos" It's on the opening page now.
  • Acorn
We did hear an ACORN employee explain the administration of inner-city schools. Speaking of under age sex slaves she said; "You don't want to educate them too much, or they may not be depending on you." Sounds like how Democrats run inner city schools?
  • 3MBW - What?
ACORN should lose gov't funding (in excess of $8 billion) solely for these actions. The fact that the White House is linked to this organization (notably, they wanted them to conduct the census) is a problem.

In your (weak) analogy, if you hire the murderer you deserve to be questioned.

34 seconds total. Obama starts speaking at about 10 seconds in, so 24 seconds total says it all.

    Are blind or just dumb?

No connection to ACORN? He was their lawyer for pete's sake!

Just go put your head back in the sand...
  • 3mbw
Now you're just being attacking yourself. That is ignorant to accuse conservatives of condemning your school bus ride.

And I wouldn't expect you to understand ACORN. You never will cause you are just too in love with Obama.

If Obama has nothing to do with ACORN then neither he nor you should be concerned with it!

    You need to move on.
  • Can they still sue?
Personally, I have no idea what acorn does nor do I care to learn. There is a difference on whether or not they can operate as an organization and whether they can sue as an organization? C'mon Neal, not all the people who write on this board went to WGU for a couple years before running a subway
  • 3mbw
The reason for the focus on ACORN is that they have been funded for years by federal taxpayer money and are eligible for billions under the stimulus plan. And the appropriate policing agencies haven't been doing their job. Attempts at withholding their funding have previously been ignored by the Democrats in Congress.

The vote in the Senate yesterday was 83-7 to halt their funding. It's about frigging time!

I didn't see Obama's name mentioned in the above story, so I'm not clear on how your logic arrived at the conclusion that this was an Obama smear. (Obama did work for Project Vote in the past, which is one of the organizations under the ACORN umbrella).

    You understand yet, 3mbw?
  • ACORN Hypocrisy
This quote is from the John Fund article in the Wall Street Journal in the reading assignments:

"In 1995, Acorn unsuccessfully sued California to be exempt from the minimum wage, claiming that "the more that Acorn must pay each individual outreach worker . . . the fewer outreach workers it will be able to hire.""

I thought minimum wage laws were "the right thing to do" and would never result in adverse business decisions for low-income workers? I guess only for community organizers, and not *my* business.
  • Not falling far from the tree
They had a vote to do "something" about ACORN, of the 100 possible votes, 7 voted against it.
Who were these 7 and what do they have to lose if ACORN was defunded?
What part of their political career relies on ACORN maintaining a positive presence in America?
How much did ACORN thinking people contribute to their election?
If ACORN went away, could they rely on the other parts of their politics to stay afloat or would they sink like a rock?
  • ACORN
I don't understand this conservative focus on ACORN. If there are issues or concerns, then by all means bring in the Justice Dept, the appropiate state enforcement departments, the IRS or whoever, do the investigation, take whatever action is waranted and move on.

This focus on ACORN by the conservatives, as part of their smear campaign against Obama, is crazy. Obama is not part of ACORN and he does not run ACORN.

When I was in Junior High School, I rode the bus with a kid that went on to be convicted of murder and went to jail. If I was the President, I can hear Limbaugh and Beck now claiming that I was going to free all the murderers just because I rode on the same school bus with one years before the incident happened.
