IS NATIONAL SECURITY BACK ON YOUR MIND?

Well ... it never should have left.

For a while, it seems as though this nation has lost a sense of urgency when it comes to matters of national security and terrorism. Maybe that is because the previous administration did a fine job of keeping this country safe after 9/11. Or maybe it is because you feel so safe now that Barack Obama and the liberal Left are in charge and playing nice-nice with those who hate us. But the latest details of these FBI al Qaeda probes warrant a little more than a glancing headline.

Before we continue though ... I want you to count how many times you see the words "Muslim" or "Islam" appear in any articles related to this story.

Moving right along ... Over the weekend the FBI arrested two Muslim men, Najibullah Zazi and his father, Mohammed for making false statements. The FBI had been investigating what they thought was a plot to detonate homemade bombs in the US. Turns out that the son, Zazi received al-Qaida explosives training in Pakistan. He was also found trying to entering New York City two weeks ago with bomb-making instructions on his computer. Backpacks and cell phones were seized in raids on apartments Zazi visited while in New York. The FBI believes that these cell phones could have been used to detonate hydrogen-peroxide bombs hidden in backpacks. Their targets may have included various locations or events in New York City like Subway stations or some fashion show. So these Muslims appeared in New York on Monday. Oops. Called them "Muslims." That's more than the newspapers did.

Now federal authorities are saying that as many as a dozen people may be tied to a suspected al Qaeda bomb plot in the US. So the government has expanded its terrorism warning not just to transit systems but to stadiums, hotels and entertainment complexes around the country.

Worried? Even a little? How far would you want our government to go in trying to get to the bottom of these threats ... and perhaps save lives? Would you care if we poured water on Zazi's head to make him THINK he was drowning, even though he would be in no danger? If not that, could we just deprive him of a little sleep to make him talk?

Nope ... can't do those things. That would be torture. Besides, remember that the White House is now in charge of interrogations ... so maybe now you feel even a little bit safer! Right?

NOW HOV LANES ARE RACIST!

Yesterday we learned that heat in Phoenix, Arizona is racist. Yup. The headline read something like "Heat affects Poor and Minorities the Most." Like somehow we are to believe that heat discriminates based on how much light reflects off your skin or how many wheels you have on your house.

Today's asinine headline comes to us from Arlington, Virginia: "Race a Factor in HOT Lanes." What is an HOT lane? It is a High Occupancy Vehicle lane that you have to pay a toll in order to ride. I guess that means "High Occupancy Toll." Now since you have to pay to drive in these lanes, they are said to benefit wealthy white people and therefore are a symbol of discrimination.

A lawsuit has been filed claiming that these HOT lanes discriminate. Court attorneys argue that HOT lanes, "encourage and enable a financially-able, privileged class of suburban and rural, primarily Caucasian residents from Stafford and Spotsylvania counties operating single occupancy vehicles ("SOV") unimpeded access on toll lanes."

The suit also claims that the actions of the Federal Highway Administration and the Virginia Department of Transportation "constituted civil rights violations as they discriminated against minority and low income communities."

Wait a minute! A civil rights violation? Well, then ... wouldn't that mean that minorities are having their civil rights violated every single time some hideous white person can afford to buy something or use a service that some poor minority can't? Maybe those homes out there in those suburbs are civil rights violations themselves?

This lawsuit should be thrown out and the attorneys who brought it sanctioned. It won't and they won't. More to say on this on the show.

MoveOn.org has produced a new commercial in support of a government takeover of healthcare. A bunch of Hollywood celebrities got together and thought, "wouldn't it be funny to pretend like we are really concerned about CEOs of insurance companies?" So that's what they did. They put together this video where they pretend like they are worried about health insurance executives. Here are a few lines from the ad, so you can get an idea of the wealth envy involved in demonizing health insurance companies.

"These great businessmen are American heroes. So why is Obama trying to reform healthcare when insurance companies are okay making billions of dollars in profit? ... Insurance companies need our support, because they keep our selfish priorities in check when we can't ... Health insurance companies are huge. They need to make big profits so they can afford to give their employees health insurance ... Insurance company executives have a RIGHT to THEIR American Dream: five houses, a private plane, $500 million in your pocket, and a mini zoo in your backyard ... So now is your chance to look after insurance company profits. They've looked after our best interests for so long, now you can look after theirs."

All part of the war on the private sector, my friends. They have their champion in the White House .. and they're off to the races. The people who read these lines are Hollywood actors. They pretend to be things they're not for a living. In this case they're pretending to be intelligent.

Amazing video: girl okay after close call with flood car. (sorry, flood on the brain)

Barney Frank wants an ACORN investigation --- an investigation of the people who investigated ACORN. Can you believe this man makes laws that you have to live by?

The feds are issuing security bulletins on hotels and sports stadiums. Enjoy your trip out of town for that football game this weekend. Remember ... if something happens, whatever you do, don't mention that all contemporary terrorists are Muslims.

This British newspaper calls him "Obama the Impotent." Would that it were so.

Darwin Award.

Zelaya is back in Honduras. Now with the help of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, maybe he can replicate the Hugo Chavez miracle there!

Barack Obama told leaders at the UN that we need to act swiftly on climate change. Too bad legislation in this country isn't getting anywhere anytime soon. Hopefully.

A climate change expert says that cutting carbon emissions won't do anything to stop climate change. Don't slow us down with the facts.

Now the FDIC could be seeking a bailout from the banks. Man are we in a heap of trouble.

For you eater outers. Ten dirty little restaurant secrets.

Harry Reid has officially threatened the Republicans, telling them that he would be willing to use the procedure of reconciliation in order to pass healthcare reform.

What's this? Congress may reject Obama's proposed mandate that banks offer 'plain vanilla' products because it "would give the government an unprecedented role in the marketplace." Since when did our Congress care about too much government?

A Bank of America in South Carolina is in hot water after an employee reportedly ordered the removal of American flags placed to honor a fallen Marine over fears that people would be offended.

Speaking of South Carolina, check out this mayor who is trying to defend her decision to institute a no police chase policy, because officers could get hurt while in pursuit.

Byron York explains why the Democrats are well on their way to repeating the housing disaster.

Jamie Dupree has done an excellent job highlighting the changes that have been made to the Baucus healthcare bill.

Barney Frank and John Conyers want the Congressional Research Service to investigate ACORN.

Our economic stimulus is really working wonders for our economy, right? Looks like we have Congress to thank ... oh wait, what? Congress didn't write the economic stimulus bill ... some left wing radical organization did? Ya don't say.

Charlie Rangel continues to try and noodle through the issue of illegal aliens and healthcare reform.

Bill Clinton has decided to weigh in on the issue of Barack Obama's race. Luckily he has a few more marbles than Jimmy Carter.

Joe Biden is trying to do his best to ease the minds of health insurance companies, assuring them that their government takeover of healthcare will not be harmful for their businesses.

Looks like all of the evil, right-wing hate mongers made such a stink about this "inappropriate" NEA call that the White House set up new guidelines to make sure it doesn't happen again.

I've been waiting for this headline to emerge: U.N. Climate Summit Leaves Large Carbon Footprint.

Here we go again ... parents accused of child pornography for taking pictures of their small children in the bathtub.

According to Rasmussen, 75% of adults say Americans are becoming ruder and less civilized.
