OBAMA'S NATIONAL ADDRESS TO STUDENTS

Today at noon Barack Obama addresses the nation's schoolchildren .. or a good number of them anyway. Many students won't hear the speech because of a rather severe miscalculation from the right. Republican screaming and wailing made it sound as if Hugo Chavez was flying in via Aeroflot to speak to our poor, innocent, unsuspecting angels. School districts reacted ... and millions of school kids will sit around picking their noses at noon instead of watching the speech.

So now the speech is out. As of yesterday afternoon you could read it on the Internet. I've read it, and if there is anything in there that I wouldn't want my child to have heard from a U.S. President, I certainly couldn't find it.

Egad! The speech is innocuous! What are we going to do now? I know! We'll all claim that Obama changed the speech after the uproar from the right! Well, duhhhhhh. Of course he did! Why wouldn't he! Well, actually he really didn't have to change it. It probably wasn't written by the time conservative boxers bunched up en masse. So Obama's speechwriters took their cue from the right and made the speech essentially bulletproof from the get-go. One sharp mind in a Republican strategy session could have seen this one coming from the next galaxy.

  • President says he will give speech to schoolchildren.
  • Republicans say the speech will be full of leftist propaganda
  • Parents run in circles flailing arms overhead while screaming and shouting.
  • Some school officials black out Obama's speech. (racist comment)
  • Grinning speechwriters prepare speech with no leftist propaganda.
  • Republicans look like fools.
  • People now more reluctant to listen to conservative complaints about Obama.

Now how easy was that? For about three days we have parents, the Republican Party and assorted odds spinning around on their eyebrows and spitting wooden nickels over Obama's speech. He's going to indoctrinate our children. He's going to fill them full of socialist ideology. They're all going to come away from school today singing Kumbaya and waving red flags. They'll probably stop on the way home from school to buy a Che Guevara t-shirt from vendors the Democrats will have waiting out in front of their schools. Then the hopelessly indoctrinated kids will come home and destroy all the incandescent light bulbs and turn the spare bathtub into a recycling bin. Before they do their homework (reading The Communist Manifesto) they'll hide the car keys so daddy has to take mass transportation to work on Wednesday.

TeamObama must have loved this one. Talk about a hanging curveball. Once the manic inanity started all they had to do is sit back, prepare an innocuous speech for The One, and let the people scratch their heads wondering what in the hell the Republicans were so upset about!

Now that the speech is out .. and now that most stable people realize that there is nothing in the speech worthy of such an uproar ... it's time to change tactics. "It's not the speech! It's the lesson plan!" Oh yeah ... if that makes you feel better, go for it. You can just tell everyone that you really weren't upset about Obama actually speaking to the students ... it was the lesson plan that had you so angry all along. Yup! Works for me! Sure .. some Department of Education hack messed up the lesson plan, but that was so easily corrected and it was on to the speech. Now the next time the right comes up with an objection to some Obama concept, people who last week might have been on board will stand back and look at the Republicans with a jaundiced eye.

The massively dysfunctional Congress is back today .. with one thought in mind: Rescue Obama's presidency. The danger that this man and his congressional sycophants presents to this country is far from over. Obama will be doubling his effort to destroy much of America's private economic sector, starting with the seizure of the 18 percent of our economy represented by health care. This nonsense over the speech to the school children has boosted Obama's image as he and the congress get back to the business of promoting government. He will make a speech to the congress tomorrow night outlining his vision of government-controlled health care. No doubt his vision will contain many threats to liberty ... but opposing views will be filtered through the school speech debacle. Two steps forward and four steps back. Unless PrezBO really messes up his address to Congress tonight watch for his popularity ratings to rise. Thanks, Republicans!

A version of the foregoing Nuze segment about Obama's school speech appeared as a column at Townhall.com today ... and it wasn't what you might call "welcomed." You can click here to read the comments.

STEP RIGHT UP AND TEST YOUR KNOWLEDGE!

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution tells us that there were four perfect 2400 scores in Georgia on the SAT test. Wunnerful wunnerful. Let's have our own little test right here: First, we'll do what the diversity mavens like to do so much, and that is divide Georgia school children into four different ethnic classifications.

[  ] White
[  ] Black
[  ] Hispanic
[  ] Asian

There you go. Remember, to the diversity cops it's all about ethnic heritage, not so much about personal character, ability, effort or traits.

OK ... Now you go ahead and put a number beside each ethnic classification showing how you think those four perfect SAT scores were distributed.

Done? If you put the number 4 beside Asian, you have just made a perfect score on our own little test! Aren't you proud! Their names are Cong "Tom" Hui, Michelle Liu, Marissa Pan and Tanya Nguyen. You can read their stories here.

So - do you think that all four of the Georgia students who scored a perfect 2400 on their SAT did so because of some genetic inherent superiority of the Asian people? It's not genetics, folks. It's culture. Read the stories. In every case these kids came from a family - a culture - that honored and prized education. You can bet that when these students worked hard in class or actually brought in their homework their Asian classmates didn't accuse them of trying to "act white." You can also bet they weren't denigrated by friends for learning to speak English in an understandable and proper manner.

This "culture" message doesn't sit well with a lot of people. Why not? Because culture is something you can change. You cannot change your race. If you fail to rise above the negative aspects of the culture in which you were raised, your bad. For many it is so much easier to blame failures on skin color - something you can't change.

BACK TO WASHINGTON

Congress is back. President Obama is back. Washington is teeming with life once again. In the balance currently hangs the fate of 18% of our economy - the healthcare industry. Obama is back doing what he does best: campaigning. This time it is for healthcare reform. His promise? Security and stability. His strategy? Keep it simple and demonize health insurance profits. Meanwhile, Congress is pounding out the details of healthcare reform, the details of which we are slowly coming to know.

A compromise plan offered by Democrat Senator Max Baucus has taken center stage. It does not include a government option. But it does "require" most Americans to have health insurance and it provides "tax credits" for poor people to buy health insurance ... even though it is impossible to give "tax credits" to people who don't pay income taxes. So let's just call these payments what they are ... welfare; subsidies. The plan also calls for the creation of nonprofit health-insurance cooperatives along with a new fee on insurance companies to help pay for coverage of the uninsured.

Obama makes his speech to a joint session of Congress tomorrow night. He says that he will "draw lines in the sand" as to what he wants to see in a healthcare bill.

THE GOVERNMENT OPTION

At the center of the health care debate this week will be something the media is allowing the looters to get away with calling the "public option." This "public option" is a government owned, government run and government controlled health insurance plan that is to compete with privately run health insurance companies. Since it is to be government owned, government run, staffed by government employees and controlled by politicians, why not call this the "government option?"

The SOLE purpose of the government option is to run private health insurance companies out of business. The looters absolutely HATE the private insurance companies. They hate them because they're privately owned, they're privately controlled and they make money. Plus ... they discriminate. If you get sick and then get out there and try to buy insurance .. you can't.

The statists know that these government-run insurance companies will run private insurance out of business. How could they not? How would you like to own a private business that has to compete with a government-run business that can operate forever at a loss? Just what chance of survival do you think you would have? Once the government option runs the private insurance companies out of business what will we have? Simple! The government option! That puts the government in charge ... and there's your single payer plan! Now you have the government - and that means marginally qualified and under-educated government hacks - making every single decision on who gets paid what for delivering any health care service.

COVERING PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS?

So .. you expect to be allowed to wait to buy health insurance until after you become sick and need medical care? Do you also think that it's OK to go without car insurance until after you have a wreck and need your car fixed? And on just what level does this make sense?

THE BIG PUSH FOR LABOR UNIONS

Labor Day couldn't have come fast enough for labor unions in this country. They really have their thongs in a wad right now. Why? Because they haven't seen the payoff that they expected for getting all of these Democrats elected. What do they ultimately want? They want Democrats to pass their card check bill. Pass the card check bill and the labor unions can go on their merry way, bullying workers into a giant unionized work-force. And it seems as though the White House pandered right to them. Joe Biden himself promised yesterday that the card check bill would make it through Congress this year. Barack Obama says that "every American owes something to America's labor movement."

Well .. someone had better work on getting this message across to the American people. Polling this morning shows that labor unions are enjoying the lowest approval rating since you kicked the last slat out of your cradle. Only 48% of Americans harbor positive thoughts about labor unions. The purple-shirted thugs from the Service Employees International Union and their actions at the townhall meetings haven't helped labor's image.

THE WAR AGAINST CAPITALISM

When in doubt ... blame capitalism. That seems to be the latest line from the moonbats. At the helm is none other than Michael Moore. He made a documentary, which premiered over the weekend, declaring capitalism to be evil. You see, now that George Bush is gone, we are out of Iraq and people aren't buying into their global warming scheme anymore ...the left is grasping at concepts to leach onto. So right now we are just going to stick with good 'ole capitalism. Michael Moore says, "Capitalism is an evil, and you cannot regulate evil ... You have to eliminate it and replace it with something that is good for all people and that something is democracy."

Capitalism is freedom and economic liberty.

Democracy is mob rule.

Huh. Now there's an interesting thought. At least Michael Moore realizes that our current system is not a democracy. Moonbats like Michael Moore like the idea of democracy because it is rule by man compared to rule by law. I'm more of a law kinda guy myself. Maybe that's because of what our founding fathers believed about the notion of democracy. Remember this one?

"... the term "democrat" originated as an epithet and referred to 'one who panders to the crude and mindless whims of the masses.'"

Yeah, that seems to fit for a moonbat like Michael Moore.

OBAMA'S DEPRESSION MISTAKES

This new study endorsed by Nobel laureate James Buchanan is making some waves. It says that Barack Obama is committing the same mistakes made by policymakers during the Great Depression. Here's a taste:

His policies even have the potential to consign the US to a similar fate as Argentina, which suffered a painful and humiliating slide from first to Third World status last century, the paper says.

There are "troubling similarities" between the US President's actions since taking office and those which in the 1930s sent the US and much of the world spiraling into the worst economic collapse in recorded history, says the new pamphlet, published by the Institute of Economic Affairs ... the White House's plans to pour hundreds of billions of dollars of cash into the economy will undermine it in the long run. They say that by employing deficit spending and increased state intervention President Obama will ultimately hamper the long-term growth potential of the US economy and may risk delaying full economic recovery by several years.

If the American people knew beans about economics .. and hadn't been filled with myths about FDR ... we might have a better chance of surviving this.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

The Wall Street Journal weighs in on the matter of Van Jones' resignation. I wonder how many more self-avowed communists Obama has serving in the red mold-infested bowels of the White House.

Wow, here's a first ... I managed to impress the myrmidons at Media Matters.

Looking ahead to Wednesday ... it will be interesting to see which approach Barack Obama takes to this push for healthcare reform.

Senator Tom Coburn schools a constituent about the painful truth of government-run healthcare.

Beware of the "trigger:" The newest idea from the plunderers to make sure private insurance is run outta town.

Never let a good crisis go to waste ... the media recognizes that Obama needs to create a "sense of crisis" in order to pass his healthcare reform.

How do you feel about 'life settlements' bonds? They are apparently already causing a lot of controversy for Wall Street.

Newsweek Article: "See Baby Discriminate." The article actually makes some significant points ... right up to the place where the authors say "It's horrifying to imagine kids being 'proud to be white.'" And that "..a pride message (to white children) would be abhorrent." Say what?

Barack Obama's plans to encourage saving: allow people to have their federal tax refunds sent as savings bonds.

Jim DeMint tells us about Congress' next giveaway. Can't wait!

Republican Sen. Lamar Alexander says that any Democrat attempt to pass healthcare legislation would be the same as "going to war without asking for permission."

The Senate must move legislation to raise the federal debt limit beyond $12.1 trillion by mid-October.

Our recent economic troubles could affect the maximum limit contribution for your 401(k).

One simple question: who pays for this government healthcare system?

Obama's green jobs czar Van Jones -- the one who was a "truther" and believed white communities were poisoning black communities - resigned over the weekend.

According to Black Star News, Van Jones was the victim of "hate-broadcast terrorism." Oh goodie! Now talk show hosts are terrorists!

Is Obama's FCC Diversity Czar Mark Lloyd headed in the same direction as Van Jones?

Speaking of czars, here's a list of all of President Obama's Czars.

Glenn Beck has officially been declared a "right-wing political terrorist." Should I be jealous?

Barack Obama says that some Americans have "selective amnesia" when it comes to our economy.

At least this Democrat realizes that there is no "right to healthcare" in our Constitution .. although he doesn't seem too happy about that.

Mary Katharine Ham reflects on the townhalls of August. Looks like the conservative outrage is here to stay, and the left should just get used to it.

Why won't Nancy Pelosi do anything about Charlie Rangel? Gee, that's a toughie.

Coming off of this Labor Day holiday, looks like more Americans than ever are not too fond of labor unions.

The global warming crowd is asking for religious leaders to get involved in mobilizing people to take action against climate change.

Yet another czar to add to Obama's entourage: the manufacturing czar.

Hugo Chavez gets the Hollywood star treatment. No surprise there.

A listener from North Carolina pointed out this DRT story. Gotta love it.

Someone has done the work for you ... translating Linda Douglass and Barack Obama.

Wait, so now sugary cereals are health food?
