REPLACE THEM ALL!

Here's some good news! Polling now shows that 57% of Americans would just as soon replace every single member of congress. If you just poll the independents our there that figure rises to 70%.

OK .. that's now. There isn't an election on the horizon. When we get closer to election time these people will start to modify their beliefs a bit. They'll think that every member of congress should be replaced except their own. And why not replace their particular representative? Simple! Because he or she brings home the bacon!

Will the American people figure out that we have a Republic to save here? Will they understand that restoring freedom and individual responsibility may well be more important than a new road or some new sidewalks in their community? We'll find out next year.

What others are saying

  • The problem with a third party
If we ever get a viable third party in the U.S., we're just asking for even more trouble. At least with the 2 parties, when someone wins an election it's (usually) because at least half the voters supporter him or her. With 3 parties, we're likely to never elect anyone who has the support of half the people. More likely it will be that more than half the people voted AGAINST that person. How is that going to help?
  • Incumbents have to go
It has been my policy to never vote for an incumbent for the last 3 years. Please note that this does not mean party vote, though I have strayed from my party affiliation on occasion. If more folks would do this, perhaps we could scare the idiots. But those yankees that live where ice falls from the sky need do their part too.
  • And after we get rid of all those assclowns
then we can go to work on agenda 21?
  • TERM LIMITS
Newt was the only politician who pushed 'term limits', and I'm fairly certain he'll be the last. These bastards have no intention of voting their corrupt asses out of office. It has to come from the constituents. Unfortunately, Democrats and moderate Republicans worship their representatives.
  • I'd agree but...
My people support the Fair Tax, so I like to keep them around in hopes they'll get our way soon. Hey, new battle cry! "Replace 'em all until they support Fair Tax!"
  • The few exceptions
Ron Paul makes everyone else look like retards
Ron Paul is the perfect example of why we don't need to COMPLETELY clean out Capital Hill. Period, I'm out.
    By LiberalHater

We could probably count on our fingers the ones worth keeping.
  • never never.......................
    DON'T RETURN INCUMBENT POLITICIANS..
  • NIBMY!!!
MJK: agreed on Isaakson and Chamblis, but Linder is my rep, too, and while I desperately support the FairTax, he won't support either a Boortz-like bill addendum where they pledge they think the money spent on the bill is better spent by government than given back to the people (too long to explain), nor will he support a "I've read and understand this bill" addendum to each bill.

If we're going to be realistic, the chance that politicians vote themselves less power is fractional; I'm willing to give that up for a "clean sweep" act, so I'd like to direct this next part to "One Small Voice."

Term limits are a good start, but it may be the case that sometimes people actually like their incumbent. I'd rather support something that says you can't run more than twice for a specific office CONSECUTIVELY. If you step away for a term, and the people want you back later, I think that's OK.

By the way, mercysnakes, my public school is one of the best rated in the state... I'd still rather send my kids to private... and no, Boortz, I simply don't have the means right now, so I try to "correct" their education when it comes time... after all, most of the stuff is fine (reading/writing/arithmetic). It's mostly the historical distortions that need addressing... oh, and the occasional teacher blabbing on about why Obama is so great.
  • Kick them out
I would sacrifice my 2 good senators if it meant getting rid of ALL of them.My congressman has a target on him and isn't coming back.Term limits???Hell yeah, that is the answer. The numbnuts that re-elect these clowns year after year won't even get the chance to blindly vote for their boys then.
  • replace them all
Like publikskool-"I know publikskool is bad, but my kid's publikskool is great. So I vote we close every publikskool but mine." Pretty much the same deal with Congress-the NIMBY principle in reverse. Get ready for the same old, same old. I try to vote my three twerps out every chance I get, but Baltimore rules the roost around here. I might as well let fly up a rope -next time around it will still be Cardin, Mikulsky, and Hoyer. No, my vote really doesn't count. either.
  • Term Limits
Let's just make it so that this happens automatically:

    TERM LIMITS!
  • Mr. Machina
    Rangers be overqualified!
  • Starting Over
"Starting Over" doesn't require a ballot. The Constitution allows for it....and I'm done voting. Voting hasn't made a lick of difference in some 20 years. BOTH parties have destroyed this nation (at the will of the majority btw) and the only thing we get out of Washington now is "TILT". We need to put in another quarter and REALLY start over.

Either that or we start building Galt's Gultch...
  • One exception?
Happy to be rid of Isaakson and Chambliss, but my Congressman is John Linder and I'm not willing to give him up! Go Fair Tax!!
  • Still don't like this idea
I really don't think the whole DRIP idea is a good one. If pulled off I think it would send the exact opposite message as intended. I know if I were elected in this manner I would think what the hell might as well do whatever will benefit me the most since I'm going to be voted out next go round anyway. Why on earth would you give a damn if you knew you were going to be replaced regardless of your performance?

Unfortunately I realize that it is just too much to ask morons to actually do some research and vote responsibly... I don't know, maybe it's not the best idea but the only idea that could actually be implemented.
  • if you would just.......................................
Hey here's an idee........let's invite a bunch of scumsuckin' stinkin' muslims who own "special" vests to visit the capitol when everybody is there and have a contest........who's vest makes the biggest bang......thats a two'fer.....

or here's another......DRIP....ya'll 'member what that is?????
  • Smacktalk
You spend too much time caring about a blog. take a chill pill(if you believe in the wonders of science)
  • I just cannot resist: HEY Jubilation!
"Where are we going to find 535 individuals with the intelligence to do the job properly, virtuous enough not to be corrupted, and humble enough not to succumb to the grandeur?"

The 75th Ranger Regiment...that is about the usual annual turnover rate from guys retiring or ETS.

    Oh, to dream........
  • Enough, already!
What I mean is...within the past seven months, this administration has called the American people(and our soldiers) "nazi's", "brownshirts", "extremists", "terrorists", "nation of cowards" and God knows what else.
It's one thing that this current administration steals everybody's money and attacks their businesses and industry. But, it's quite another thing when they call you names and insult you in the process. Who do they think they are? The American people need to give them a collective b!tchslap.
  • Doc
    fear of the ballot
they don't fear the ballot. or should i say they don't fear the counting of the ballots. all they got to do is hire a computer programmer to write a program which will make him a winner.

I imagine if the majority of voters reflected in every exit poll showed they were kicking them out and then the results came back otherwise, there would indeed be riots in the streets! Manipulation only works in close races. These ain't gonna be close!
  • Ron Paul makes everyone else look like retards
Ron Paul is the perfect example of why we don't need to COMPLETELY clean out Capital Hill. Period, I'm out.
  • Ron Paul and John Linder
They would probably understand and support the movement. They can always run in the next go around. It's just these consecutive for lifers that are hurting us.
  • Third party
    Can we only hope?

Maybe a fourth party as well?

I voted against the republican incumbent in my state yet the man who loves to compromise with the Dems still got elected.

Change won't happen until enough Americans have said, "ENOUGH!"

  • Replace Them All
Neal, don't forget that your friend, John Linder is in Congress. If I vote against him, who will lead the fight for the Fair Tax? Be carefull what you wish for.
  • Duh?
"...69 percent say the party's elected officials are out of touch with their conservative base."

    Ya think so!
The poll cites the "unpopular $700-billion bailout plan in the heat of a presidential campaign and a seeming financial industry meltdown." Both of our REPUBLICAN SOB Senators from Georgia voted for the $700 billion bailout of the banks, but Georgians voted in Saxby Chambliss in office for another six more years for reasons I'll always have a hard time understanding. Hopefully Isakson will get beat by Herman Cain in 2010...
    HERMAN CAIN FOR SENATE!!!!!
  • What's with these Drive-by Trolls?
The Dude is Brian Fantana is Klubber Lang... There seems to be a new troll each week bu then the old one disappears. And they all use characters from comedy movies.
The Dude, you're making my favorite movie look bad. STFU
  • Devil you don't know
Even the new ones will be hesitant, wondering "did they vote me in cause they really wanted me or just because I wasn't the incumbent", especially when they see the next cycle get rid of yet another round of incumbents. They can be taught fear.

What is the quote: when government fears it's people, you have democracy, when people fear it's government you have tyranny.

Something like that. We need to put the fear of the ballot in them.
  • Replace Them
    Big Joe Williams,
    I love ya' man!
  • By and large
Americans by and large have short term memories when it comes to politics, and most vote by their wallet.
I only hope we all remember these past months events, what with the new TV season, reality shows, and football starting in a week or two.
  • Big Joe Williams & Health Care
Yes we need "Healthcare Reform". We need to be able to take insurance payments as well as costs off of our income taxes as long as we still have income taxes. We need to be able to shape our own coverage without the government requiring things like non-reconstructive cosmetic surgery, pre-natal care, pediactric care, and such. We need to be able to buy catastrophic only care (i.e. high deductible). We need to be able to shop across statelines. Now that would be reform.
  • Come on November 2010!!
Any time you have members of congress saying that even though they KNOW what the people want done, they are going to ignore that and do what THEY think best, it's well past the time to clean house!! Congress is there to act on the will of the people, NOT their own agenda! And if congress cannot get their minds right on that point, then WE THE PEOPLE must replace them with those who will represent us! Personaly, November 2010 can't get here fast enough to suit me. I'm going to DC on September 12, to take part in the march/rally and I encourage everyone here to make the trip as well. We need to stand up and be counted. It's inportant.
  • Replace Congress
The problem with polls like this is, while 60% of people claim to hate congress, almost 80% of Americans are pleased with their own member of congress. That is why a sweeping change will never come to the national legislature.
  • Just wait!
2010 is going to be interesting!
  • This is...
Exactly what should happen. Literally ANYONE that holds higher office in Washington should be removed at all costs. The American people are starting to get it. They are starting to realize the lies. This is the only way to secure a future for our loved ones to force out those who are destroying our country. The only way to stop what our elites are proposing is to literally get rid of all of them.
  • We can start with the dimocraps
and eliminate the stench of democrat corruption from the senate and congress. Wouldn't hurt to get rid of RINO's like Snowe/Collins, either. 2010 can't come soon enough.
  • Is the devil you don't know any better than the devil you do know?
Have we all reached that point yet?

If we chuck out all the incumbents - we'll have to do it in each of the next 3 elections - by the time the "new kids" learn how it all works, it'll be time to vote them back out again.

Where are we going to find 535 individuals with the intelligence to do the job properly, virtuous enough not to be corrupted, and humble enough not to succumb to the "grandeur"?
  • Just keep...
Just keep Thaddeus McCotter and Dr. Ron Paul.
  • Fall 2010
Heard there is a bumper sticker that says:

    This Fall Dump Them All!
  • Too bad
..."start over" isn't on the ballot.
  • Replace Them.
From the same government that managed Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac into the ground, wasted $787 BILLION in stimulus(and, yet, wants another "stimulus" bill), brought you Social Security(fraud), and couldn't even manage the "Cash For Clunkers", is supposed to manage YOUR health care?! Folks, within the past seven months, this administration has called the American people(and our soldiers), "extremists", "terrorists", "nazi's", "brownshirts", "nation of cowards" and makes statements like "no white men need apply!". Yep, I agree. We need to replace them ALL and install a representative government.
The government we currently have is a collection of rude, arrogant, childish, socialist, name-calling, thuggish, thieving, manipulative, lying pieces of crap. ALL OF THEM, AND THEIR MEDIA.
And, I'm also getting damn sick and tired of Republicans talking about "well, we need SOME kind of government healthcare reform". NO WE DON'T, DAMNIT! The Republicans are just trying to help Democrats get their foot through the door. Once they do that, they take over everything...like rats! The only "reform" the American people need is "government reform". Let's take out the trash in 2010!
  • ya duh!
weird that we get the opportunity to do this at least every two years in some part but never do.

    but that'll change...

yeah right. the day it does is the day libertarians start fielding decent candidates.
  • Modifying beliefs
You mean politicians modify their beliefs just to get votes??? Thank you captain obvious. I am still waiting for Bush's social security plan from his second victory.
  • Vote out every incumbent
Now that's a "reset button" I would love to push.
  • Not me
Well, I would agree if I lived anywhere else. I have James Inhofe and Dr. Tom Coburn. They are examples for the rest of you. Let's see if you can finally find people half as good as the ones I have been sending.
