Another must-read column from Charles Krauthammer on the evolution of Obama's healthcare reform.\

More healthcare news .. from the wonderful National Health Service of Great Britain. Now patients can't get painkilling meds. But that's OK .. things will certainly be better here, won't they?

How will you, the taxpayers, end up paying for the unanticipated cost of Cars for Clunkers boondoggle?

Nancy Pelosi says that the "glory days" are ending for the health insurance industry.

Tax cheat Tim Geithner says that unemployment may not peak until the second half of 2010.

What kind of healthcare benefits does Congress enjoy?

A bipartisan group of lawmakers plan to introduce legislation to revive the DC school voucher program.

Republican Senator Orrin Hatch says that the Democrat healthcare plan is "out of this world" .. and not in a good way.

The fact that the federal government thinks that it can tax its way out of an obese nation is humorous.

Thousands of decaying bridges must wait for repairs because states are spending stimulus money on easier projects like repaving roads.

Wow. Even the New York Times admits that Barack Obama's pledge to only increase taxes on the rich won't hold.

The future of government healthcare in this country ... aren't these story sinking in yet?

Hugo Chavez is continuing his takeover of the media shutting down 34 radio stations over the weekend.

What others are saying

  • Healthcare
Why not fix Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, etc, etc..... Instead of spending Trillons of dollars on a new unknown?
  • Girl Sues College
    Two things:

She does know, doesn't she, that she's applying in the midst of a global employment crisis? Right? Nobody is hiring right now, and we will just have to wait until things pick up again.

Second, she choose a career field that the federal government systematically destroyed over the past decade with immigration work visas and incentives to offshore work to foreign countries. Maybe not the best choice she ever made...

She should have aimed a bit better... say, McDonalds, or such...
  • The NEA stimulus
At least those art projects are shovel ready.
  • Al Franken vs T. Boone Pickens
I guarantee this jerk did this in front of people showing just how ignorant he is. Franken needs to give it up. He now has a back stage pass to the big show. Odds are the hook will go out after the first act (term).
  • Summer "Stimulus" Jobs - getting paid
The summer employment programs being paid for by stimulus funds have other big problems. The turnover rate in our programs is 2.5%. That doesn't sound too bad until you see that is per week! Kids are being fired for sleeping, dropping the "F-bomb" with customers, and all manner of stupidity. God help us if these kids are the future.
  • Excuse you frank!
"Get a grip Boortz before it's too late, people just don't like cranky, whiny, amnonia smelling old has-beens, such as yourself!"

Who are you speaking for? Yourself I hope, cause you sure as hell don't speak for me. I hate it when people try to act as if they are speaking for all of America.

Better idea Frank, if Neal is so bad, why don't you go find a liberal station you can pester?
  • the girl that is suing her school
On top of that, Trina will be seen as a troublemaker. Good luck getting hired now.
  • the girl that is suing her school
Sure the market is tough, but there are plenty of IT jobs. The article mentions she has an "information-technology" degree from Monroe College. I looked it up - Programming, Networking and Telecommunications are part of the major courses.

No mention of Trina's experience or GPA. This looks more like the blame game for failure. It looks like Trina is adding legal fees to her debt now.
  • Who can't afford their drugs?
Hey T-shirt, I can afford all the medical I need. I have a wife and 4 kids in a single income home(55K) and insurance from a PRIVATE carrier, my works pays mine, I pay my family's. I had a heart attack last year, cost me $285 out of pocket. My middle son has chronic asthma, no problem when I changed carriers, expensive inhalers still covered. My carrier is common(principal). I chose a high deductible to keep costs down. Works WELL for me and EVERYONE I know in my range. There are problems, but it's not bad at all. Tort reform is the place to start. That and convincing people to eat fresh fruits and vegetables, take a walk everyday and STOP WATCHING TV!!!!
  • fkaner@comcast.net
    Neal,
Have you ever had anything positive to say about anything in your life? The negativity that oozes from you is noxious! Face at 65, your entering the twilight of your life, it's a fast slide downhill now to the nursing home!
I can just vision you, in some Old Fa*ts home sitting all by yourself day in and day out, in wet and baggy Depends! The only human contact is when at lights out time you are wheeled back to your room to spend another long, lonely night talking to yourself in the dark!
You're not even funny anymore, you used to be when you came back on the air in the mid-90's, but I do get a great kick reading daily, your so-called Neals!
    Nuze!
Speaking of Nealz Nuze, nothing you print up or whine about daily is originally yours!
Get a grip Boortz before it's too late, people just don't like cranky, whiny, amnonia smelling old has-beens, such as yourself!
  • Cash for Clunkers Boondoggle
"I'm from the government and I'm here to help".

Everytime I hear someone talking about trading in their cars for cash, I have to grit my teeth. Government subsidized - doesn't that mean tax-payer subsidized??? So my tax dollars are being appropriated to finance someone else's car while I continue to drive the car I own. Isn't this kind of like the free cell phones for the poor. I anticipate driving my used car until it can't run anymore or until I can afford payments on a new or used one. As for a cell phone, haven't got one, same for my kids, because we cannot afford it. Mind you, I do not begrudge those who can afford such luxuries, only those who haven't worked for them.
  • Congressional Health Care
Kudos to Rep. Kagen! He has a great point - the 'public health care' being proposed should replace Congress' current benefits. If it's good enough for the people, it should be good enough for ther representatives (and all the other Fed workers). If they don't like that one, they would have the same option as everyone else: but it yourself.

I don't mean to sound simplistic here, but it's frustrating as a taxpayer to subsidize healthcare options under a system that I cannot access unless I too, become a Federal Employee. Options supported by taxpayer dollars should not be better than what's available to the private sector. Especially given the restrictions are mostly Federal regulations. If they deregulated the industry, we'd have many more choices in the marketplace.
  • re: the girl that is suing her school
She went and got an education in IT?

    70k?

What the heck is she thinking?

The only people that are getting IT jobs in America today live in India and work for $12 an hour.

She should be laughed out of court.
  • National Health Service of Great Britain
But that's OK .. things will certainly be better here, won't they?

i don't know what you mean by that. we've already got it that bad. over there the state doesn't have enough money to get those people their drugs. over here the citizens don't have enough money to get their drugs.

but you don't want to get into that. it's easier to demonize something, isn't that what you said earlier?

i've got something on my blog that scratches the surface on it. only scratches the surface.
