You will remember that we've talked in recent days about these people who showed up at an ObamaCare rally in Arizona. About six protestors were legally wearing guns on their hips. One was carrying a semi-automatic rifle. I've said that I thought that this was a bit over the top ... not a good idea ... but let's focus on what MSNBC's Contessa Brewer had to say:
"A man at a pro-health care reform rally just outside wore a semiautomatic assault rifle on his shoulder and a pistol on his hip. The Associated Press about a dozen people in all at that event were visible carrying firearms.
The reason we're talking about this--a lot of talk here Dylan--because people feel like yes, there are Second Amendment rights, for sure, but also there are questions about whether this has racial overtones. You have a man of color in the Presidency and white people showing up with guns strapped to their waists."
OK .. let's ferret out the "facts" contained in Contessa's news story.

the term "racist" has gotten ridiculous the last decade or so. It has gotten to the point that when you criticize a black person, they can just label you a racist, and your inherently discredited.
Its an old tactic.
You want to demonize someone, so that the very mention of their name or group makes everyone "make a face". Easy... you just have a PR push where you say "These protesters are every bit as horrible as child molesters!" and make sure it gets a lot of air play...
the "linking" of the mention of your group, with the phrase "child molester" occurs without you realizing it, and you begin to get that "feeling" in your gut everytime you hear the name of the "target group" you want to demonize.
it WORKS because "child molester" is universally repugnant and disgusting to most sane people. Just mentioning it makes you slightly ill feeling.

Was edit twice. First the blackman with the gun. ( so that u couldnot tell he was black) Second the show a whiteman with a gun and it is blurred and they only focus on it for about .6 of sec. ( the gun was probably edited into the Video.) The gun was also pointed in the wrong direction.

I take it then that you never heard of the strategy of "Dont show your opponent your upper hand". By open carry of a weapon to a public event, you have just marked yourself as a potential threat; and if push comes to shove then you will be amoung the first to water the Tree of Liberty. I DEEPLY RESENT the comments that people are angry because a "black man" is president. No, we are angry because an effing Socialist dictator is president and is bringing this country down and destroying it right before our very eyes. And he is doing it quickly. This is old hat for NBC.
They used to almost always show background footage of fully automatic weapons firing while talking about the semi-auto ban they were pushing. They always spoke of the 19 models it was supposed to ban if passed, but failed to mention the ATF had already expanded the list to over a hundred models, until after it passed.
NBC was the one caught staging SUV accidents. I quit calling what they do news reporting a long time ago.

Arizona concealed-carry
For the record, Arizona has been an open carry state for a long time but they do have a concealed carry permit program. As a permit holder, I can carry either concealed or open.

I don't think it's a great idea to notibly carry at a Presidential event. I think it does send an unfortunate message to the libs and the media. It gives them ammo and something to rally around. Everything is a race issue now. I knew it would come up, but I did not think it would be this much or this main steam.
I heard that second video on Hugh Hewitt's show a couple of days ago and there was absolutely no mention of race. I live in AZ. I did not go to the event because I have a 6 month old child whom I did not believe would be safe at such an event. I am for this persons right to carry a weapon. I think he should have that right to carry a bazooka if he believes it is necessary, but he knew it was not necessary. This was purely for show and was not the time or place for such a demonstration.

I think you're spot on correct, Rex. Carrying weapons...especially openly...does undermine our arguments and gives the left something to rage about OTHER than healthcare. Exercising one's constitutional right to bear arms to a debate...even though perfectly legal...ESPECIALLY close to the President (no matter what race he might be) makes it easy for the giggle-sissy liberals to reframe the debate, and weakens our support among the undecided. Like the liberals, we can be our own worst enemy sometimes.

(1) They don't show the head of the guy with the "assault" rifle. My guess is that he was probably a black guy. Just like the big story last week over who made those Joker Obama posters. It must have been a racist, right? Well, it turns out it is some 20-year old with a Middle Eastern sounding name. Notice how that story is now dead.

Arizona gun toters
I lived in Arizona and saw people carrying weapons all the time (the law says you can carry as long as they aren't concealed). I guess with their reasoning I should have felt that these people didn't like people of Scandinavian decent, because I don't remember blacks being around when I saw it? What the HELL does it have to do with him being black? It has everything to do with his stance on the 2nd amendment in the past and government trampling on the constitution!!
