Just watched a few episode of Cops over the weekend. Some conclusions are obvious. I'm sure cops already know these truths .. but if not, I'm only too glad to help.

  • The term "trailer trash" didn't just appear out of thin air.
  • Perp's pants never fit
  • There are plenty of minorities in prime time television.
  • Bad teeth apparently cause criminal behavior
  • So, apparently, do neck tattoos.
  • A cop in full uniform with street shoes, a Kevlar vest and 20 pounds of stuff on his belt will always outrun a shirtless perp in running shoes.
  • Nobody ever has a clue as to how those drugs got into their pocket
  • If you see a man driving with no shirt on, pull him over. He's a perp
  • That goes double for shirtless with a mullet
  • Perps never clean their homes or wash dishes
  • Street hookers are just flat-out ugly

At the end of one episode a special treat. Part of the show was filmed in Atlanta and the credits said "Special Thanks to Atlanta Mayor Bill Campbell." Ole Bill just got out of jail. He was worse than the crooks they showed in the program.

What others are saying

  • Stan Fan needs to get . . .
    a life, a clue, a grasp on reality . . .
    Take your pick.
  • Yes, it is racist, kind of
In response to criticism, the producer of "COPS" pointedly stated that yes, they do engage in a racism with the show. Well...what he said was that they take every opportunity to show white criminals rather than black criminals.

Now yes, this is overt racism. But of course, it is of the "correct" polarity so Neal and the other brain-dead see it as great.
  • Cops
Neal: If you watch enough episodes of Cops, you will see that there are plenty of people who get arrested for disorderly conduct in the same vein as Obama's good buddy, Skippy Gates.
  • What to do
Just wanted to make a correction and add some thoughts.

Suspects are able to outrun cops much of the time. Cops only shows the ones who are caught. Why would they show all the ones who get away? They wouldn't.

What are the rules? Shut up. Once you start lying, police will probe more and catch you in more lies until finally you have the cuffs on and are sitting in the back of the car. Just identify yourself and say no more.

Got pulled over? Offer your drivers license and whatever else your state requires. If the cop asks to search your vehicle, the answer is always know, even if you have nothing to hide.

(BTW, are you sure the last mechanic or car wash operator to work on your car didn't have a joint or bag accidentally fall out of his pocket. You are, because you personally clean your car every day? The answer is still no.)

If a cop asks to search your car, it's because he has no authority to order it or to do it without legal authority. Once you say "yes," he doesn't need anything more and anything he finds will be used to arrest you.

Sometimes, if you decline permission to search, police will persist and even tell you they don't need permission. They might say that if you say "no" that gives them probably cause to search anyway. Either way, say the answer is still no, you can't search it. If they go and do it anyway, don't interfere or the police will have a reason to arrest you for sure.

If asked, never give police permission to search your home or vehicle. If need be, follow up with a firm, polite answer like "the answer is still no, officer." At that point 99 out of 100 will move on to something else or leave you alone, period.
  • Guilty
On a day off, I decided to hang out at the courthouse and watch the wife "at work" (she's a paralegal working at a DA's office). At one point I see her have a pleasant, smiling conversation with two female defendants (in prisoner garb & handcuffs) sitting behind her. Later that evening on the way home I asked her about that exchange. She said....

"Well the two ladies starting talking to me about how they appreciated me being respectful & nice to them and that folks automatically just look at them and think they're bad people. That they have had a tough life and that they really are nice and blah, blah, blah. So I said thanks and that it was just my job to prepare cases for the DA's and that I treat everybody with the respect that any human deserves. But I also told them that they can save the sob story 'cause their ass wouldn't be here if they weren't guilty."

I damn near ran off the road LMAO
  • Hell yeah they're ugly
I passed 2 hookers on my way to work a few weeks back and felt the urge the slam on my gas to get away as fast as possible. Ugly and dirty. They couldn't have even paid me to hit that.
  • Cops
I am a former prosecutor and pro tem judge (including hearing all of the DUI cases for the City of Wichita, Kansas for 2 years).

Neal is right about street hookers. Every one I prosecuted or heard the trial of was literally as ugly as sin. I cannot imagine being so desperate as to use their services.

I would differ on the "few beers." I swore if anyone ever appeared before me who admitted to drinking more than 2 beers, I would find them not guilty just because they told me the truth. The defendant can have a .4 blood alcohol level, but every one will insist that he or she only had 2 beers.
  • RebelYell
Actually, there is such a thing as "A few beers left in the fridge. I'd better (hic) go get more."
  • In other wods...
I agree with Stan. In other words, if someone looks like your typical tea party - townhall astroturf lunatic than they probably broke the law! You should probably add "Has a fairtax bumper sticker on car" or "Has a concealed weapons permit" to that list.
  • gang members in blue
the cops are the biggest gang on the streets. they lie, steal, torture, and kill, all without no fear of the justice system.

  • COPS Quiz
The majority of perps on Cops are people who:
    A. Have a high school diploma
    B. Had a child they could afford
    C. Will deny any government handout
    D. Couldn’t tell you who has a top 10 hit (rock and/or Rap) or won American idol
    E. Could tell you who represents them in congress
    F. Speaks proper English or limited slang
    G. Honestly earns their possessions
    H. Have job skills businesses are in need of
    I. Parents are proud of their achievements
    J. Will help anyone in need
    K. Volunteer in the community
    L. Pay over 20% of income in taxes
    M. None of the above

Remember, it’s not their fault… only a fool believes that.
  • COS
    Ah, TruTV reruns.

It amazes me how fast people dig their holes.
  • the criminal under class
I know it is a hell of a thing for a nominal libertarian, even an exponent of old rightism, to admit but my reflexive attitude most of my life has been if they are accused they must be guilty. Suspects are all guilty too. Cops know who the criminals are, let them do their job. Quit whining about police brutality, all the ass clowns needed to do to avoid it is be respectable & respectful. I may be the very last perfectly law abiding American but der vaterland security ministry has assigned me the role of violently radicalized right populist dissident incipient ideational domestic terrorist so there you go, I am guilty too.

I admired this sort of thing from afar back in the 1970s & 80s when done in the name of anti-communism by Franco, Chiang, Marcos, Pinochet, the shah of Iran, the Samozas, the rulers of south Viet Nam & the junto of south Korean army general officers that ousted Rhee but being personally subject to it here & now for progressivism's sake is a solid brass bitch.

All those under class types ARE guilty though. Were they innocent that would make the police WRONG & I doubt any one will be amazed to learn I authoritarianly & vicariously identify strongly with police when they behave sternly & ruthlessly--so they can not afford EVER to be wrong. That is just the sort of reactionary cat I am, yo.
  • Truths from "Cops"
    1. white sleeveless undershirts, "wife beaters." nuff said
    2. polite goes farther than surly.
    3. there is no such thing as "a few beers."
