GITMO DETAINEES GO TO THE COURTS

The Obama administration recently decided to release Mohammed Jawad from Guantanamo Bay. The Afghani man was 12 at the time he was detained back in 2002 hurling a grenade at a US vehicle in Kabul, injuring two American soldiers and their interpreter.

So now that Mohammed is a free man, he wants to sue Washington over his "illegal detention" ... holding him for seven years "without charges." Where's Ramsey Clark when you really need him?

Usually .. .you throw a grenade at U.S. troops, you're DRT. For those of you unfamiliar with the show, that means Dead Right There. So our troop recognize this Muslim thug is young and they spare his life. They can't leave him around to become an adult bomb-thrower though, so they detain him until they think the danger is passed. Now he wants to sue.

Is it too late to shoot the ungrateful little bastard?

What others are saying

  • Detainee
I say we let the little bugger live and shoot the attorney who takes his case.
  • re:tshirt and Redleader
Mehtinks he doth protest too loudly. The presence of foreign troops in their country was an excuse. The battle against the 'Crusaders' began before indoor plumbing and cable tv hit the Mid East. Don't throw that 'reap what you sow' and 'they hate us 'cause we invaded' crap out there. That's the garbage they feed the younger generation to stir passions and convince them to become dogfood after pressing the little button that detonates their belts. I don't buy it. The seeds were sewn long before we showed up. But, if blame us first works for you bigstuff, have at it. So..like...where do you score that stash? Oaxacan Gold? Jamaican Sunset? Loganville Lettuce? That's some strong sh#*, man....
  • Joe McCarthy is spinning in his grave
Joe McCarthy was proven correct after years of being slandered by the left for being paranoid about commie/anti-American scum infiltrating our political system. Of course those eventual findings never surfaced with the hard left MSM.

The pinkos are here now in a MAJOR way. These idiots are clueless, lawless, and dangerous....affording civilian rights to enemy combatants??!!! You have to be f#@king kidding me!! It's the Twilight Zone, I tell you! In the end, it really is a dream come true for conservatives though. This is a perfect example of an egomaniacal administration that is out of touch with America. It's not a reason for celebration though, because the next set of pinkos will learn from this over-reach. Obama should have governed center-right until after November.....greedy bastard.
  • the united states of amnesia
amnesia is running rampant on the boards. they started the war? there wouldn't be an al-Qaeda if we didn't play footsies with the soviets in afghanistan.

Blowback is the espionage term for the violent, unintended consequences of a covert operation that are suffered by the civil population of the aggressor government. To the civilians suffering it, the blowback typically manifests itself as “random” acts of political violence without a discernible, direct cause; because the public—in whose name the intelligence agency acted—are ignorant of the effected secret attacks that provoked revenge (counter-attack) against them.
  • Dan...
At no point have I entertained the idea of an isolationist foreign policy. Non-interventionism is not isolationism. You can trade, travel, exchange goods and services and ideas, without getting entangled in the internal affairs of other nations...as Thomas Jefferson recomended.

"Remember, the US was mostly out of that part of the world throughout the 90's."

    This is simply untrue.

"Some of these countries either directly or indirectly supported the training of violent extremists. For what purpose? To export their extreme beliefs to the rest of the world by force, which they have done repeatedly over the 80's, 90's, and up to today."

Why are we seeing extremists? They are being encouraged by foreign military presence, just as Americans would not like Arabs on the mainland telling them what to do and trying to influence the politics. The more radical elements of their Koran are being looked to as a result of military presence on their land. No matter how you slice it you can't deny this.

"Just looking at this case from the narrow window of only after the US invaded completely forgets the reason we are there in the first place, which was they brought the fight to us on 9/11."

In fact I think you may be looking at it narrowly....I am looking back to world war I and the manifestations of colonialism and imperialism. Always remember that 9/11 was a reaction. It is important to find out the question to what? The answer seems to be bad foreign policy that has been in that region for quite sometime. Look back to the west carving up the region after world war I and the actions that surround that.
  • We have a new protocol in Aghanistan thanks to Holder
Kill 'em all and let God sort it out.
  • Send em to Arizona...
Before anybody goes Bill Maher on me...let Sheriff Joe Arpaio have them. They'll be crying to Allah for Gitmo. Pink jumpsuits, tents, flip flops, sandwiches for breakfast, lunch and dinner, no tv...still better than they got at Osama's Country Day School for Wayward Jihadists, I'm pretty sure. All they had to do was sign the damn Geneva Convention and stay the Hell off the battlefield when our guys show up. But Old Sheriff Joe would get their minds right!
  • the short answer to
    your question Neal: No!
  • RE: Red Leader
An isolationist policy does not work either. Remember, the US was mostly out of that part of the world throughout the 90's. What happened? Some of these countries either directly or indirectly supported the training of violent extremists. For what purpose? To export their extreme beliefs to the rest of the world by force, which they have done repeatedly over the 80's, 90's, and up to today.

Just looking at this case from the narrow window of only after the US invaded completely forgets the reason we are there in the first place, which was they brought the fight to us on 9/11.
  • turn him loose
in a target rich environment and call him colateral damage.
  • Re: Dan...
Ah yes, name calling without any ability to address the subject matter. A true sign of someone on the left. You took the easy way out because you are not ready to deal the substance I have put forth. No sir you have yet to learn from history and ignore the bright shining evidence sitting right in front you and lack the capability to put 2 and 2 together.Read what I wrote again, see if facts and logic can make their way through to you. I stand by every word I said unchanged. It is you who wants to set America up to be hit again, and you want these islamic fascists to destroy the American economy and bring America down just the way they did the Soviets. You don't fight wars with 11 trillion dollar debt. When you have no money to pay soldiers what happens? Look to the Romans for that answer. Let's get the brain turned on Dan and smell the currency erosion. The islamic fascists seem smart enough to get it, but you don't. The same people saying there's a threat REFUSE to secure the border. You yourself were incapable of refuting ANY of the points I brought up, hence you go to name calling, like a liberal. Either you are to stupid to see what's in front of your face or you're just in denial....which is it?
  • re. Big Africa
The CIA's political position on any issue reflects the political position of the current president. Obama is just a more liberal version of Bush so what are you gonna get?
Secure the border, open the country to oil, gas, and coal exploration, and stop restricting the building of new nuclear power plants. We don't need to be sending our young men and women to die in these God forsaken places and these places sure as hell don't want us there. Let them drown in their oil because ultimately this is what it's all about.
  • If I was a soldier right now, my policy would be NO PRISONERS, NO QUARTER.

    Dead men can't sue you.
  • Re: Red Leader
You're a fool. The mentality you propose is the kind that gets more Americans killed.

So you're either too dumb to have learned from history, or you actually would like to see the U.S. dealt another blow.

    So which is it?
  • this whole war on terror....
...is complete nonsense, until the border is secure and every last illegal alien in this country is encouraged to head home by means of taking away entitlements. If you leave your back door open, obviously you yourself do not believe there is a threat.

Curiously.....if we took the CIA's definition of terrorism and applied it to the founding fathers vs the British in 1776....would the British have considered the founders to be terrorists?
  • These terrorists at club gitmo have an awful high recidivism rate for innocent people.
War is hell, maybe they shouldn’t have started it. No Quarter.
  • muslim thug?
So if Arabs had been in America since world war I, trying to force shari'a law onto Americans and trying to tell Americans how to live, redrawing the geographic boundaries of America...and the people of America decided to fight back against this sort of thing, however they knew how, you would be consistent about calling Americans thugs also? Should Americans put up with that sort of treatment? I think not. Im not sure why Americans would expect other countries to put up with what they wouldn't want to put up with. Its time for some traditional conservatism and exiting Iraq and Afghanistan asap. American Military presence in the region is helping to solidify the jihadist cause and is giving islamic fascists an efficient recruitment tool and is making the world less safe. Why put soldiers over there while the border remains wide open. People let's turn our brains on and away from this neo-con mysticism foreign policy adventurism Neal dabbles in and turn to traditional conservatism. America is not the wolrd's police and our economy is begging us to admit this unarguable fact to ourselves.
  • the envelope pleeeze............................
    to answer neals kwestion.........nope...

the reason I use kwestion instead of question...........the q on my key board doesn't work......
  • So he wants to sue?
Take away the laptop that some misguided fool gave them in Gitmo, and throw his a$$ back in there.
  • GITMO DETAINEES GO TO THE COURTS.
I think its time for a late-term abortion.
  • Trial Lawyers running Healthcare
Have they not realized that government employees are generally immune to lawsuits? If Dems had their way, a truly nationalized healthcare system would bring in thousands of doctors into the government workforce. They would then become immune from malpractice lawsuits. I guess this could be the upside of the argument.
  • Hes not going to Sue
He is just saying this. Whenever these muslims say they are going to sue they at most file the suit, then the case is dismissed and they have to pay attorney's fees to the adverse party. Just wait and see it be dismissed rather than blowing a brain vessel quicker than glenn beck turns on the tears to get higher ratings.
  • ungrateful?
i wouldn't be grateful to any foreign army that had spared my life. there still a foreign army on my soil. and i would have done the same things, i hope my grenade attack would kill them. and they let me out, i would sue somebody. you know why? because their army is still on my country's soil.

you don't do much of that "walk a mile in his shoes" understanding kind of things?

matt, he's NOT a libertarian. but he plays one on the radio.
  • You should read up on the case, Neal
Oh, you mean the Muslim Military Prosecutor who is now retiring early and going to work for the private law firm who is going to sue the government on behalf of this Kid?$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
  • That's what happens
when you try to be mr. nice guy.
If they saw him throw the grenade they shoulda blown his head off right then and there. Game over.
  • Mohammed
I think they should give him a job in the Obama administration.Maybe a job working inside the White House as the token Muslim religious leader for Obama's family.
  • Right between the eyes
I'm with you. Shoot the bastard. President Obamuppet's administration is running out of control on all fronts. They've got it totally ass backwards on protecting the American people against terrorists.
  • Is it too late to shoot the ungrateful little bastard?
A resounding NO! It would eliminate some of the overcrowding at Gitmo, too.
  • Muhammed
This B/S along with Holder's recent announcement of CIA investigations should put to rest any soldier or marine's anguish over shooting people in combat areas. Shoot to kill!
  • You should read up on the case, Neal
You automatically assume that this kid is guilty. You should read up on the case - even the military prosecutor thinks that there's no case and that this kid was innocent.

We're sending this kid home because there is no evidence, zero, that he ever did what he was "charged" with. Many of the Gitmo detainees are like this. You call yourself a libertarian, yet you support the indefinite detention and abuse of people who have never been charged with any crime, who have no recourse of due process, and who now can be held indefinitely even if they are acquitted by a court!
  • Math doesn't add up
He was 12 in 2002 yet his father died in the 80s fighting the Soviets. Unless his father died as the Soviets were leaving in February of 89, this man is lying.
  • 12 yr. old
Well the government says that he was 17 or 18. He says that his father was killed by the Russians in the 80's. If he was 12 in 2002 he would almost certainly be older than 18.
