FOCUS GROUPS ARE FAILING OBAMA

President Obama and the Democrats truly seem dumbfounded by America's response to their healthcare reform plans. Maybe this has something to do with it. Polling, studies and focus groups have been working for years to come up with precise language that would win over voters on the issue of healthcare. We are talking as far back as 2005, the Herndon Alliance met with the AARP, Service Employees International Union, the American Cancer Society and the liberal health-policy group Families USA in order to figure out how liberals could change the language of the healthcare debate.

This is why Barack Obama changed his rhetoric to "health insurance reform" rather than "healthcare reform." This is why he says phrases like " the mandatory purchase of health insurance would 'be affordable, based on a sliding scale.'" This phrasing "precisely mirrored language that had been poll-tested and put before batteries of focus groups by Democratic consultants over the past few years," according to the Wall Street Journal. "The words had been carefully chosen in an effort to take away the rhetorical targets of health-overhaul foes and replace them with terminology that would bring ordinary Americans on board."

So what happened? You happened. You, the American people, decided to wake up see right through the focus group rhetoric and transparent phrases. The Democrats have been working on this moment for years ... and they are losing the battle. I love it.

What others are saying

  • you can rest eazy now..................................
ok I'll take the czar job.........butt neckid fok-us czar....or should there be a u instead of that o?.......

here's how I can git ol' osamabama mo' votes...........wait for it..........

FREE STUFF!!!!!! look out fo' the stampede........
  • So now they are going to try this....
I told my husband last night..."You just watch, the libs are going to say, 'Let's do it for Teddy'".

Damn, am I good, or what? LOL...I couldn't stand Teddy Kennedy. But I suppose that now we'll be even more "Un-American", because we won't do it for him, either.

But, none of the other word changes have worked, so I guess they'll be grasping at this straw for a while. 10 bucks says they change the name of the bill to the "Ted Kennedy Memorial Health Care" bill. Don't be trying to tug on my heart strings. Not buying into it. A sucky bill is a sucky bill. For me, sticking that bozo's name on it just makes it even worse.
  • Just a slaes pitch
Propaganda, sales job, snow job, whatever..
Changing its name, using symantics to dress it up, doesn't change what it is..
When the government has to work this hard at passing a bill, be worried.
Anything that cannot stand up and walk on it's own shouldn't be passed into law..

I wrote my Representative an told him laws should have their own merit, and should not pass based on slaes jobs, pork additions..so forth...
and that I hoped he voted accordingly ( I know...I know...but we can at least hope. At least I made my point with him ).

Can you say Line Item Veto..

And Joyce brings up a point...
wasn't there a propaganda minister back when .......hmmmmmm
  • It's great!
I've been many meetings and rallies, and it's been great. So many people, including myself, have been shaken out of their complacency and are ready to fight the good fight.
  • Focus Groups
Truth and information is the Democrats bane. As more and more Americans study and listen to what the Dems are trying to force on us, the more they reject the Liberal agenda. Focus groups do not study fact, only feelings.
The liberal agenda requires that the public be kept in the dark, led around by an agent with a flash light who only shows the public what they want them to see (a path strewn with debris and danger). An informed public is not in the dark and does not need the agent. When this happens, the true path is observed, a clear path around the debris and danger. The agents are ridiculed and marginalized. This is what is happening to the Dems in congress, and those pushing the liberal agenda in general.
  • I think
They just need a Propaganda Czar!

hmmmmm didn't Hitler have one of those?

Oh well, change of subject there. A rose is a rose by any other name, just some have more thorns than others.
  • Dem bill = serfdom
If the democrats ram their bill through, (even though a majority of voters don't want it) it means that all health care professionals will be serfs, who belong to the government. The feds will tell you where you can work, what work (procedures) you can perform, on whom, when you can do the work, and how much money you can receive for doing said work. They will own these people from the minute they set foot in their workplace until the minute they leave. In their working lives they will be government property. No, that's not the language of the bill. Yes, it would be the end result.
The only escape will be to quit the business entirely.
  • Nothing new
Um, this shouldnt be a surprise to anybody. Every big business, including the government uses focus groups. You can actually make good money if you participate in them regardless of the answers you give. I know republicans care more about money going to Iraq than taxpayers keeping money, but I like making money.
