So yesterday I Tweeted the question: Think Bill Clinton will get any NK strange while he's there? Well .. he may not have gotten any strange, but he did manage to get Kim Jong Il to issue a "special pardon" for OwlGore's jailed journalists. At first, we were told that Clinton went on a personal trip. We all knew that was horsesqueeze. It turns out that the Obama administration did in fact ask Clinton to go and negotiate with the Gargoyle.

The ransom was paid. What was the ransom? The legitimization of Kim John Ill through a visit by a former U.S. President. Next up? Iran?

What others are saying

  • Sounds like fun
Al Gore butt-puppets? I bet there was a nice cloud of smug over the prison where the two morons were detained. Ha, I guess three-ways are still friendly to the environment.
  • BILL CLINTON
I wonder if the 2 women that Clinton rescued from North Korea made it across the Pacific without being molested by the former president. Hey, the guy does have a track record.
  • CLINTON IN NORTH KOREA.
I can just hear it now, when the girls got on the plane, the door shut, and they started to taxi away. "Hey baby. You know I didn't come all the way over here just to say high to my old friend KimJong. How about a little something for the effort? Two of you, one of me, sounds like I can strike one off my to-do list here. Care to fly over to Bangkok for the weekend?"

Of course, KimJong owed Slick Willy about a big thank you for setting him up with the needed $10 Billion to get into nukes, paid as extortion....for him to not get into nukes.

I guess that favor is now paid off.
  • Hope it didn't cost much
I never want to see anyone in the custody of an evil regime like NK. Also, I think it's good that we have people taking risks to let the outside world know what's going on behind the razor-wire fence. My problem lies in what was the actual cost to the US. I wonder how much money we had to give for the release and what kind of monetary negations have begun in order for them to "chill out" on the nuke program. I hope I'm not being overly conspiratorial here. It's just a thought that bounces around in that pea-sized brain of mine.

Nevertheless, I'm glad our citizens are no longer in that creep's custody. Well done, Bill - I hope...
  • This is pathetic
Why do democrat presidents always send former democrat presidents to do their job? Clinton sent Carter to NK and look where that got us (NK has nukes).
I wonder what state secrets or new toys Clinton negotiated this time (probably a vehicle to actually allow those nukes to reach the US now).
  • slick willie
it was payback.since he gave them the nuke tech. that will bite us in the a@@ later.
  • Why choose Clinton
I've read reports on Kim Jong Ills habits. Seems he likes to watch movies from America and he does like his "porn." Sew......who better to send than someone he can relate to?
  • Birds of a feather
What's the big deal? Commies stick together you know; Clinton and Kim, sittin' in a tree! Gotta say, I love to see the Dems get played like a fiddle by the little Toad. Gore, good grief, what a maroon...he's stupider than Biden, and that's hard to believe.

Oh yeah, I'm glad to see the ex-cons back in the States, I just wonder how much mileage Kim's gonna get offa this?
  • @disenchanted
Did you stop taking the meds you obviously were on while George Bush was negotiating with North Korea. Did the phrase "shadow government" sound vaguely familiar to you when you wrote it? That's because you heard it for years while Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld were in charge. Go back on your meds, if you made it through the Bush administration, they must be working.
  • What price was paid?
The joy of Bill's presence was a nice PR coup but I'll bet any amount of FRNs you wanna put up that there was a heck of a lot more paid to grease this deal.

And since the 'ok you horrible conservative, just what would YOU have done to free those jouranlists' meme is running strong today.....

Our policy should be simple, blunt and easy for any tyrant to understand. Pax America. If an American is legally in your country they can only be imprisoned if WE agree they did something wrong. If they aren't willing to admit our Citizens on those terms, don't admit them. If WE can be convinced they entered illegally then do with them as you will, otherwise Pax America applies.

If we are going to pay the freight in blood and treasure to police the world then dammit we should never worry about another nation state molesting our citizens unless WE consent.

Yes I understand what I'm saying. But I believe in billions for defense and not a single cent in tribute and am willing to accept the consequences that flow from that. And if the Norks, down to the lowliest officer, knew in their guts we as a people would be willing to wage terrible War over a single Citizen wrongly imprisoned it would never happen. Wars happen when one side misreads the other.
  • 800 pound gorilla
Republicans have no room to complain about Clinton when it comes to North Korea. George Bush -- remember him? -- first declared NK "evil" then inexplicably had them removed from the US Terror Watch List.

Removed. Bush told the world the US no longer considers North Korea a terrorist threat. The US has very specific guidelines we follow before we will add a country to the Terror Watch List and Bush went and had them removed after 30 or 40 years -- after they blew up a commercial airplane -- South Korean?

For the life of me, I cannot understand why he would do that and why any conversation about the threat North Korea poses doesn't begin and end right there with that single action taken by Bush. It's unconscionable to me unless we were all being suckered when he said they were evil.

I'm sure one of you GOP apologists will tell me I've got the wrong range of years or wrong name of the list or my socks don't match or some such drivel. That's why I went off memory -- so idiots like ClubLibby can have some fun. Fetch boy! Go fetch!
  • when the tab cums due...............................
osamabama will pay the tab to ol'kim by sending his ol'lady to give 'em the lowinski treatment.......
  • Conservative Sour Grapes
Evil, bad foreign governments and other operatives have been taking U.S. citizens hostage for decades. Both Democrat and Republican administrations have pursued a number of different channels to get them released.

Americans do not let other Americans rot away in foreign prisons or terrorists' dungeons, even if in some cases the captured may have been partially at fault for their predicament. Nobody yet knows exactly what the circumstances were that brought the Euna Lee and Laura Ling into custody. It is speculated that NK border guards may have gone over the border to China to snatch them. We just do not know yet.

It is especially tricky in North Korea since we do not have diplomatic relations with them. Some right wing idiot on a local radio show this morning was saying that protocol dictates that this situation should have been up to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in North Korea. Well, guess what, when you don't have diplomatic relations, you don't have an embassy or consulate!

How could anyone but the most cold-hearted crotchety old grinch not be moved by the scenes of the two journalists walking down the stairs and into the arms of loved ones this morning, including Euna Lee's reunion with her 4-year old daughter.
  • Legitimize This
Maybe Bill could visit Obama and legitimize him.
  • Al Gore
I just learned about the Al Gore connection also.

That's great leadership Gore. Send reporters to North Korea for a story and then don't defend them or take responsibility.

But, you are willing to let the US compromise its negotiating position with this pariah nation because of YOUR SCREW UP.
  • hi honey..............................
the husband look a lil' happy to see the wimmin.................

first words were "hi honey glad to see you home safe.....is that bill on your breath?"
  • what?
these two women were not kidnapped. They entered the North Korea under their own volition and KNEW they what they were doing. Now obama has paid a ransom for their return? This country does not negotiate with terrorists. What has happened to our country since this marxist socialist/communist has taken control. He and his 50+ czars are creating a shadow government to take control. Soon the congress and senate will be OBE, and we will be run by the chicago thug system. Our freedoms will be taken away and we will be under islamic control. sound far fetched? no, you all know it isn't.
  • release
I think we are all glad Il released the reporters. However, letting a former president deal with foreign negotiations is not proper protocol. We elected a President (Obama) who staffed his cabinet with a Sec. of State (H. Clinton) to handle these matters.
If Mr. Obama had to send Bill Clinton to do his job, just reinforces with me that Mr. Obama is not up to the job of President.
  • Slick "Willy"
    Conversation on the flight home.

Slick "Willy": so ladys how are you enjoying your freedom?

Released Ladys: very well Mr. Clinton

Slick "Willy": I relly handled old Il, he was clay in my hands.

    Released ladys: (giggling)

Slick "Willy": you know, if I had not came over there and smoothed things out you would still be in prison.

Released Ladys: oh thank you Mr. Clinton.

Slick "Willy": so ladys, (lighting up a cigar) how about a little pay back..............ZZZZZIIIIIIPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!
  • Journalists
Because they broke the law and went into N Korea, these Gore reporters are going to write books and get rich 'cause dummies here will want to hear their stories. I'm tired of criminals getting $$. And the fools that pay for the stories.
  • Be Happy?
Why aren't we happy? Because the Norks have nukes and are building missiles capable of delivering those nukes to the shores of the US. Oh, and they come right out and say that their intention is to destroy us. But sure, let's send an ex-president over there to negotiate with them and legitimize them. God only knows what was promised, but even if it was nothing you can be sure that ol' Kim will use the trip to highlight the US' impotence and prove that his show of strength has worked. But you infantile lefties keep singing the praises of dictators and madmen, because if you praise them enough they'll eventually love us and not want to kill us all, right?
  • Dumb americans get caught
I think we should have left them there. Why do americans think that if they go to other countrys and break their laws somehow they are protected. All they did was make the US look dumb. I mean does the US really need to dumbasses back, last time I checked were overstrength in that demographic. I hope they get to write a book now and Title it Im a dumbass and so is my friend. Now lets talk about the dumb hickers in Iraq. Im in Iraq right now and you dont see me hiking oh BTW theres still a war going on here people wake the F up. I say let them stay as well.
  • The trip to Kim Jong-Il's massage parlor.
    Yeah, it was odious.

    Yeah, it is bad precedent.

Yeah, it was the ONLY way it was going to happen. Why do you think it has taken 5 months to get it done.

Only question, How much did Al pay Bill to do it.
  • @ Steve...
It wouldn't let me post with only the subject line! Did something change?

    Anyway, what is NK strange?
  • To Steve
Steve: It has been all over the news since these women were taken into custody that they worked for Current TV, an outfit co-founded by Al Gore. I'm not sure how any informed person could have missed that.

And, in actuality, their reporting in North Korea was, I suspect, going to be quite sympathetic to the plight of the North Korean people . . . I suspect it was one of those "hidden camera" stories on North Korea that you see from time to time, usually by outfits like the BBC. Any decent person, regardless of political persuasion, would welcome any journalism from the hermit kingdom that exposes the brutality of that regime and the suffering of its people. I don't know enough about Current TV to characterize its political leanings, if any, but any investigation into North Korea is unlikely to be politically slanted other than to be against the evil party of Kim Jong Il.
  • Hee hee!
Can't STAND it when a Democrat accomplishes something that Bush never would've even thought of, let alone tried, can you?

Another great day for all REAL Americans (i.e., liberals)... and more sour-grapes whining from the sidelines of the failed far-right losers. Go ahead--keep pretending this wasn't a victory for America. Hilarious!
  • @webwench
Did someone fix the broken CAPCHA / Security Code system? I've noticed that everything I've entered today had gone in fine, and that the success message is different. Oh, please tell me I will no longer receive those incorrect "Mismatch" messages!
  • Al Gore's "journalists"?
It wasn't until yesterday that I heard that these two so-called journalists were employed by Al Gore. I wonder why that nugget of info was hidden? This also exposes the power-hungry nature of communism because to freedom-loving Americans we wonder why one communist regime (Korea) would put reporters of a communist (Gore) in prison. It's amusing how hard left leaders tend to hate each other.

I didn't have any sympathy for these 2 women and how I know why! And I'm sure they'll remain leftwing extremists too even though they were treated so harshly by the North Koreans.
  • Willy in NK
When Willy kissed Kimmy, did he have to use tongue?

    Will Willy beat Ben Franklin?
  • @catseye and Matt
I thought it was US policy not to negotiate with terrorists. This will only encourage NK, Iran and any other terrorist group to hold the US for hostage. What do you think we gave NK in return? Legitimacy and untold American dollars. The bar has been lowered to Carter standards. come-and-get-us and we'll-make-a-deal
  • Grouchity Grouch Grouch
Daddy, daddy: Look, I got an A on this test.
Grouch: Yeah, but you still got question 32 wrong. What kind of an idiot doesn't know that?

Daddy, daddy, what a beautiful day it is today!
Grouch: The sun is too bright so you'll get a sunburn

Daddy, daddy: The Navy Seals shot and killed the bad pirates holding the caotain hostage.
Grouch: Yeah, but it took 4 days; they should have done it in two.

Daddy, daddy, Bill Clinton brought back the imprisoned jornalists from North Korea.
Grouch: Hmmm, grrr, I smell a rat, there must be something to bi**h about.
  • Clinton's visit
It was reported that Bill Clinton was seen in the North Korean village of Puhn Tang.
  • Clinton's next trip
Golly, the adulterer in chief went hat in hand to NK and ha the journalists released.

Great. Now let's send him over for a visit with the Taliban to get our soldier released too.

Hey, let's also make it a sweet vacation and let himn take his wife on our dine while we're at it....
  • Hyperpartisanship?
Let's not forget, these two moronic "journalists" poked their noses into a fire and got burned. Whose fault is that? A: Their own.
  • Next trip to Iran
The next trip has been scheduled already. The "hikers" that have been arrested in Iran. Expect to see Clinton there legitimizing that government. And just about the time that happens, we'll see someone arested in Honduras that only the deposed dictator can secure the release. Wag the dog is alive and well.
  • Kim Jong an alien
Look at the picture of Bill and Kim standing together for a photo. Does Kim look like an alien or what?
  • Clinton's trip
I think the main reason for Clinton going to Korea was to personally pick some new girls for the Asian massage Parlors near where he is living. The same ones are getting old for him.
  • Hyperpartisanship
Why do some people have to view absolutely everything that happens in the world through a partisan lens? Two Americans held prisoner by one of the most diabolical regimes on Earth are now free, and no shots were fired and no bombs were dropped. Rejoice and be happy, and maybe give a little credit to President Clinton, much as it might drive you nuts to do so. Just for once, be Americans first and hyperpartisan conservatives firebrandssecond.
  • Why can't we just be happy they are home?
Haven't we been engaged in talks w/ North Korea for a while now? I'm pretty sure Bush was involved w/ talks w/ N. Korea, S. Korea, China and Japan. I could be wrong.

I don't understand the insistance on the Republican Party as a whole in trying to tarnish this accomplishment. If anything, it proves that Ill is nothing but a bully that when push comes to shove he has no real power. He didn't have the balls to hold these two innocent girls. We called his bluff, and he let them go.

Two Americans are home now, due in a small, medium or large part to Obama and Bill Clinton. Thanks to those guys and God that these women are home.
  • plausible deniability
Based on the conflicting reports yesterday, it looks like a clear case of plausible deniability. If Clinton had NOT been successful, he would have been acting on his own. Of course since he was successful, Obama gets credit for sending him.
  • Clinton in North Korea
If his trip was personal, did HE charter the jet to go there? Who paid for it?
  • WTH is NK strange?
No, I didn't forget to type my comment! This "nanny software" !!!!
