Remember this awesome painting that was created for the Tea Party poster earlier this year?

The artist, Steve Penley, has given us the original painting to auction off for this year's Care-a-Thon! The painting auction will take place in the 10am ET hour of the show on Thursday, August 27th. So make sure you're listening then if you want to bid. Or you can just make a donation to the little bald headed kids online here

Is there a connection? Why yes! There is!

Just yesterday we learned that Obama's Attorney General, the ethically-challenged Eric Holder, is appointing a special prosecutor to go after the CIA agents who saved American lives by using somewhat harsh interrogation techniques against Muslim terrorist detainees. Never mind that both Obama and Holder had made earlier promises that they would not pursue a vendetta against these operatives. That was then, and this is now ... and now the uber-left is demanding some sort of legal action against the Bush Administration for what they view as the horrors of the Bush years. After all, "we won," so why can't we prosecute the losers? The political bloodlust of the left must be assuaged!

In the midst of all of this I want to remind you of something. During the election last November a group of Black Panther goons stood outside of a polling place in downtown Philly. They were wearing paramilitary costumes and were carrying nightsticks. As white voters would approach this polling place these thugs would yell "You are about to be ruled by the black man, cracker!"

Well .. this happened to be against the law. One former civil rights lawyer and publisher of the liberal Village Voice called the episode "one of the most blatant forms of voter intimidation I've ever seen." So here comes the Justice Department. The BUSH Justice Department. At the beginning of January a civil lawsuit was filed against the New Black Panther Party and three of its goons for violation of the 1965 Voting Rights Act. None of the defendants would even file a response to the lawsuit. Perhaps they knew that they had nothing to worry about.

And so it came to be!

Just what do you think happened to this action against the Black Panthers? Why, it was dismissed! Eric Holder allowed these goons to walk. Lawsuit dismissed. One defendant was told that he could never carry a weapon within 100 feet of a polling place again .. the other three walked away.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is Obama's Attorney General. He will permit Black Panther thugs to intimidate white U.S. Voters, but if you work for the CIA, and if you're charged with the responsibility of discovering information on future terrorist attacks against our people - if your job is to save American lives instead of intimidate white voters - you had better lawyer up. Eric Holder is coming after you with guns blazing.

Elections have consequences. Black Panthers walk. CIA operatives get put under investigation.

OUR SPENDING IS UNSUSTAINABLE

The Office of Management and Budget presents the sobering reality for the Obama administration. There is no way that the administration can deny these facts. It's time to wake up and smell the pork, fellow Americans: Our current level of government spending is unsustainable. This is the first year that America will run a trillion-dollar budget deficit. Over the next decade, Obama's budget plans to borrow another $9 trillion ... more than doubling our national debt. This year, Washington will spend $30,958 per household. The breakdown goes something like this: about $17,000 from taxes and $13,000 from borrowing. That is an increase of 22% in federal spending this year and a record 26% of the GDP. So you are saying, "Ah well this is just an extraordinary year and Obama inherited Bush's mess and blah blah blah." Well Obama's budget permanently keeps spending between $5,000 and $8,000 per household higher than it was under George Bush.

In other words ... there is absolutely no way that we can continue the current level of government spending and expect this nation to survive. If the Republicans can capture that sentiment and run with it, maybe they will have a chance of winning some seats in 2010. However, what have they done to earn the people's trust again? Plus .. even if the Republicans do manage to come up with a viable plan to turn this spending and debt splurge around, how in the world to you get the Obama-crazed media to report it?

Either way, what Barack Obama is currently doing in Washington will be paid for for generations. The Heritage Foundation has done some research into Obama's spending habits. Here are just a few of the highlights .. things that your children can thank Barack Obama for someday, and things that you can thank those drivers with the Obama bumper stickers for today:

- The 22 percent spending increase projected for 2009 represents the largest government expansion since the 1952 height of the Korean War (adjusted for inflation). Federal spending is up 57 percent since 2001.

- While the costs of the financial bailouts and economic stimulus bills are staggering, they are only a fraction of the coming costs from Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. Over the next decade, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) projects that each year Medicaid will expand by 7 percent, Medicare by 6 percent, and Social Security by 5 percent. These programs face a 75-year shortfall of $43 trillion--60 times greater than the gross cost of the $700 billion TARP financial bailout.

- President Obama claims that "we have already identified $2 trillion in savings over the next decade." This is not true. The President first creates a fantasy baseline that assumes the Iraq surge continues forever (which was never U.S. policy) and then "saves" $1.5 trillion against that baseline by ending the surge as scheduled. It is like a family "saving" $10,000 by first assuming an expensive vacation and then not taking it. Another $1 trillion in "savings" is actually tax increases (in other words, savings for government, not taxpayers).

- Federal spending per household (adjusted for inflation) remained constant at $21,000 throughout the 1980s and 1990s, before President Bush hiked it to $25,000. In 2009, Washington will spend $30,958 per household--the highest level in American history--and under President Obama's budget, the figure will rise above $33,000 by 2019.

- While President Obama claims to have inherited the 2009 budget deficit, it is important to note that the estimated 2009 budget deficit has increased by $400 billion since his inauguration, and the whole point of the "stimulus" was to increase deficit spending to nearly $2 trillion based on the unproven notion that would it alleviate the recession. This suggests that even if the President had not inherited a big deficit, he would have created one as a matter of anti-recessionary policy.

- The public national debt--$5.8 trillion as of 2008--is projected to double by 2012 and nearly triple by 2019. Thus, America would accumulate more government debt under President Obama than under every President in American history from George Washington to George W. Bush combined.

- The White House brags that it will cut the deficit in half by 2013. The President does not mention that the deficit has nearly quadrupled this year. Merely cutting it half from that bloated level would still leave budget deficits twice as high as under President Bush...

Not that the constitution really means anything in Argentina any more ... after all, President Cristina Fernandez Kirchner recently seized all private pension plans ... but I've read that Constitution of Argentina contains this little gem:

The private actions of men which in no way offend public order or morality, nor injure a third party, are only reserved to God and are exempted from the authority of judges. No inhabitant of the Nation shall be obliged to perform what the law does not demand nor deprived of what it does not prohibit."

So ... under this constitutional clause, the Supreme Court of Argentina has unanimously ruled to decriminalize the possession of drugs for purely personal consumption.

Do you have any idea how much we spend in this country every year enforcing our asinine drug prohibitions?

UNIONS VS. CEO OF WHOLE FOODS

The liberals have had their thongs in a wad for weeks over this column by Whole Foods CEO John Mackey. For those of you who missed it, Mackey wrote a column for the Wall Street Journal on August 11th that explained his free market plan for healthcare reform. Ever since then, liberals have been in a war against Mackey for daring to go against Barack Obama or stand against the political leanings of so many of his customers!

Well now the unions have gotten involved. The CtW Investment Group, a part of the Change to Win federation of unions that advocates on behalf of workers' investments in pension funds, is calling for Mackey's resignation. The union says that Mackey is undermining President Obama's healthcare reform.

CtW Investment Group's Executive Director Bill Patterson says, "Mr. Mackey attempted to capitalize on the brand reputation of Whole Foods to champion his personal political views, but has instead deeply offended a key segment of Whole Foods consumer base." Oh my God! NO! Tell me it's not true! Someone has been OFFENDED!

In the meantime, the United Food and Commercial Workers Union is going to be handing out information to Whole Foods shoppers about healthcare reform. Maybe they will hire some homeless people to handout the flyers ... that's always a good way to promote your cause.

(Note for Atlanta listeners: You will see around town groups of about five people holding a frame with a "Shame on" banner in it? Those people are homeless winos and bums. They're hired by local building trades unions to hold those "shame on" signs naming companies that dare to finish out an office with a non-union sheetrock contractor.)

UNION HEALTHCARE

Included in one of the House versions of the healthcare reform bill is a little gift to the unions. One provision includes $10 billion to pay off medical costs of union members and retirees. Section 164, a reinsurance program for retirees, sets aside $10 billion in order to set up a temporary reinsurance program "to provide reimbursement to participating employment-based plans for part of the cost of providing health benefits to retirees age 55-64 and their families ... Employment-based plans must apply to participate and be approved, and the health care plan would reimburse participating employment-based plans for 80 percent of the cost of benefits in excess of $15,000 and under $90,000." Pure pork for the Democrat's union pals.

Then we get this explanation from UAW President Ron Gettelfinger. He says, "We need meaningful health care reform if we are going to get our economy going again ... Decent, affordable health care should be a right of every American, not a privilege."

Now here's what Gettelfinger is saying. In order to receive health care someone has to provide you with a service. This means that someone has to expend time, property or both to provide you with your health care. Usually this health care provider is compensated for their time or property. But ... if, as this footstool Gettelfinger says ... healthcare is a "right," then that would mean that you are legally entitled to the healthcare provider's time and property .. and that you don't have to pay anything at all for the service? After all, we shouldn't have to buy what is rightfully ours, should we?

The claim that healthcare is a right is tantamount to a claim that you have a right to a portion of the life and property of another. Defend that one.
