THIS HEALTHCARE DEBATE IS ALL ABOUT MORE GOVERNMENT

How hard is this to understand? Barack Obama and the Democrats don't care about your health. They don't care about your access to health insurance. All they care about is expanding the size of government making sure that you are dependent on it.

Take this short, seemingly innocuous article from the Associate Press.

The White House is asking Congress to give the executive branch more power to limit Medicare's rising costs.

A White House letter to top lawmakers on Friday said the move would be "a critical step forward" in controlling health care costs and providing better care.

This type of language should scare you, folks ... "give the executive branch more power" or the government "controlling healthcare costs." I want to know where in the Constitution these powers and duties are written.

What others are saying

  • Health plan
I say that if the government insists on becoming a health provider, We the people should be offered the exact same choices that members of congress enjoy. Nothing less. If it is good for the employees of the people, it is good for the people. Free markets or equity!
  • @ricky
Screw you and your ape insults, F2ggot. Your "intellectuals" are really just a bunch of communists intent on total government control of every aspect of the lives of the people. There is nothing new or stimulating about that. Every socialist government in history is a shambles when it comes to elevating the standard of living for the people. ONLY free market capitalism works to lift people (people outside of government) from poverty. You stinking pinkos don't care about people, though. All you care about is power.
  • @Rick
Both Stan and I agree that government insurace is fine for you but we're smart enough to figure out our private plans. We stimulate with our intellectuals while you neocons drag your knuckles.

Cornpone............it's NECKID!!!!!! and you're not her favorite species.....
  • Keeping your insurance
While the item on page 16 does preclude insurers from taking on new members, an item later on does allow for replacement benefit packages. What that means is that if you have sucky insurance you can't change jobs to get better insurance. It will stay the same.

Also, If you lose your insurance and need to use the public "option", you can never again return to the private insurance.

Just a clarification. Even if it does leave the thing just as scary.
  • Launching Missiles
Anyone who has worked for the Defense Dpartment for more than a week knows that it has the same bureaucratic nightmares as any other government entity. (Remember the $2,500 toilet seats?)

What tends to make the DoD rise above it all is the philosophy of centralized control and decentralized execution that is taught to any military leader. By the way, the government model for this type of leadership is called: a Republic...
  • Te salut, Mr. Nekkid, sir!
If 7 of 9 were to try to assimilate me, I don't know how I'd resist - but I'd try to keep it up for as long as possible.
  • @Stans #1 Fan
"OK for the government to bomb terrorists who only want to reduce our healthcare costs"

This is hilarious stuff. Come on now, are you in stand up comedy or something?
  • Stan and Stan's #1 Fan...
You both talk about keeping your private insurance. I don't understand why if you think government is the answer to running medical care, you two should be the first in line to sign up for this government run health insurance. You say you will keep your private insurance, if this health care bill gets passed, and you change jobs, guess what you won't have the option of having private health insurance. Because on page 16, it will make having private insurance illegal. So then you will get to rely on the government you both LOVE so much.
  • Mr. Empathy
I wonder what type of insurance plan Barack's brother has.
  • my ex..............................
ok snagle tooth you may exit......my exgirl friend 7 of 9 said this to me often.....

RESISTANCE IS FUTILE....she was right then and she is right now......
  • Healthcare
I'm terrified at what is about to transpire with health care. I'm currently in a nursing program and 99.9% of those of us in the program as well as the instructors are against this bill. This bill will destroy the quality of care that we can provide. More people in the hospitals means more patients that a nurse has to care for, which can lead to lesser quality, don't believe me, try caring for 5 patients only to be told now you have to care for 7. This country was founded on the principle that you are in control of your own destiny, you are responsible for yourself and your family. Why is the government trying to take that away from us, where will it eventually lead us? When did we decide to shirk the responsibility we had to ourselves in favor of government? I personally believe that people want to be able to blame someone when their life goes into the drain. If the government controls everything then we can blame the government, rather than accepting the responsibility and then having to blame ourselves when our choices don't work out.
  • Stan and Stan's #1 fan...
You and people who think like you do, will now be taxed at 100%.

The rest of us will stop working since the government will provide the following for us: Housing, transportation, Cell phones, Food, Entertainment and now FREE medical insurance. So we have NO reason to be a productive member of society, we will just LEECH off of you and your kind. Have a NICE day.
  • Libertarian Voter
I have had many people ask the same thing, and then ask "why aren't we out in the streets, what is is going to take".

What is the answer? Is anyone planning a march on Washington? I have a bunch of people that would participate.
  • All hail King Barack the Foist!
Congress's constitutional mandate to "advise and consent"? What for?

Emperor Obama gonna tell us: how much we can earn, how many aspirin we can have, how much and what we can eat, drink and be merry. What a deal!

In the immortal words of a cartoon character whose name I can't remember:

    "Exit ... stage left!"
  • Wesley Mooch
He said the *exact* same thing: "I need more authority" in the run up to Directive 10-289.

And Stan: Comparing "launching missiles" to "running a private business"? I thought you had more integrity than to compare apples (civil defense) to oranges (running what is currently a private industry).
  • Government is better
I agree with Stan. I will keep my private health insurance since I got it before the cut off date, and I will add a few extra thousand to my federal taxes in order to pay my fair share of everyone else's medical care. I love it how you neocons think it's OK for the government to bomb terrorists who only want to reduce our healthcare costs, but then throw a fit at the idea of paying the medical care of those who have lived too long.
  • Where's the outrage
Where is the outrage from the American people regarding the blatant disregard for the US Constitution? For probably 99.9 percent of the legislation coming from the Congress, it is outside of the Constitution limits.

But my question is this.."Where is the outrage from the American People?"
  • Question is: What WON'T fall under the umbrella of Healthcare?
Do you want those people to have almost unlimited power?
  • Healthcare Costs
Your point about finding this "authority" in the Constitution is valid and one that should be asked about everything that has come out of the Congress for the last 100+ years of progressivism. Let's turn back the clock. Let's put the genie back in the bottle :<) I don't think so. As "Ah- nold" how easy that is in California.
  • Government is better for
I will keep my private health insurance. And this will make it much cheaper in order for them to compete. I love how republicans think that government is ok for launching missiles but not for running an insurance company.
