just a little something for our fark-reading friends. the rest of you, move along. nothing to see here.Slobbering Barney Frank has been busy lately. Last week he proposed the idea of relaxing regulations on the sale of condos. This week he wants to use TARP money to put poor people into housing. See, banks participating in TARP have to pay dividends to the Treasury. So far those banks have paid $5 billion. So now Barney Frank comes along and says, "Hey, I know how we can spend all of this money!" Certainly not to stimulate the economy, Barney, and not to pay off some of the debt you're running up either.

So here's Barney's plan. He has introduced legislation that would use $1 billion of those dividends in order to give rental housing to the poor, poor pitiful poor and to urban outdoorsmen. Here's the plan ... the $1 billion would be put into something called a national housing trust fund. This fund has apparently already been created ... it was done when the government decided to takeover Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. So Barney has the fund .. but no funds. Now Barack Obama's 2010 budget calls for this fund to receive $1 billion, so Barney's plan is just a way to make that happen. That's just the beginning, folks. That's just "seed money." The goal would be to put $150 billion over the next decade into this housing trust for poor people. That's a "15" with a pant-load of zeroes behind it.

Stay tuned! That's not all ... another $1.5 billion of these TARP dividends will be allocated to state and local governments to help them redevelop abandoned and foreclosed properties.

It keeps going. Barney Frank also wants to use some of the TARP money itself, not just the dividends. He wants $2 billion in TARP dollars to go toward an emergency mortgage relief program. Then another $2 billion in TARP dollars would create a program to help people cope with foreclosures on multifamily properties. All of this would be run by the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

We're never going to pay any of this money back my friends, not while the Washington Barneys see ways to use it to buy votes.

What others are saying

  • Barney and Perez
Even Perez Hilton wouldn't be interested in Lovable Barney.
  • Theft.
I think a key point has been missed here. What about the certainty that half a billion bucks will disappear before the other half a billion bucks is misspent?
Lefitst are thieves. The rich ones are successful thieves.
  • Barney & Friends
Why aren't Barney and his lefty mortgage-broker flunkies in orange jumpsuits?
    After all, it's a win-win proposition:
    1) He would be out of America's hair.
    2) He gets to shower with some great GUYS.
  • just thinking
Does Barny Frank get enough fruits in his diet?
  • J.R.C.
    SIR,as a Vet., Thank You.

I'M shuttin down, you kinda caught me off guard.
  • I'm sure they was d..............
    Cornpone........good on you!

I have buried my parents also........it took 3 whacks with the shovel to git the ol' woman to let go of the edge......

    more wine dumbass..........not you corny.
  • who paid for college???????????????????
    Greg... that is the question.

I know who paid for 2 of my kids education......the tax payers did. my 2 sons went to the naval academy. one went on to become a naval aviator and flew during desert storm. he died on a training mission after returning to the U.S.
the other was a proud marine infantry officer he died in iraq.
now did you repay your folks for the college education?
this is none of my bisiness but.......
  • Do you even realize the story behind that image?
That image comes from 4chan, "it's a tarp" is internet slang for tranny porn. Don't believe me? Do a little research on the goog'.
  • Tarp
Oh Neal, if you only knew the true backstory behind that picture...
  • @Greg
Don't know how old you are,or should I say how young you are, more PC.But from were I stand in life, your never free of your parents until their 6 feet under.Maybe your already there, if so sorry. I kinda like them being there.

    Just a thought.
  • Yes, I am free of my parents ...
They're both dead. In their last years, I housed them, cooked for them, fed them, took them to doctors' visits (I don't think those last 3 are related - hope not, anyway), paid their bills, washed their car, shingled their roof, even changed their diapers. Life's circle complete.

Did they pay it forward or did I pay it back?
  • slobbering barney
    Get it while you can.
In 16 months these spend crazy dogs are out of office and 2 years after that,we put the communist in history's trashcan.
They know this, that is why the rush to get all these government run programs in place.
They know that once started, they will never stop.
  • been dere, done dat....
Of course, this won't be presented as a "handout" or a "welfare" program. It won't be "permanent". Just a way to help people get started. A helping hand to get them setup and established.

'Course, this all sounds suspiciously familiar. Oh, we've done that already. And we're still trying to get those "temporary aid" people off the "temporary aid"... FIVE YEARS later.

    Katrina Trailers come to mind...
  • The picture
That is the best picture I have seen all day!
  • How free are you?
"if the answer is yes that means you have repaid them for all the bills you ran up while in college.......right."

In that case, no one is ever free from their parents. But contrast that with people in their 30s, with kids, who STILL get handouts from their parents. Not my situation. If you prefer, how about "less entangled than most", ehh?
  • Come on guys, I agree with you most of the time but...
This whole public housing sham failed in E. Europe and it will fail here.
Let the dimocraps take ownership of this mess. We can use it to hammer these people into the ground in 2010/2012.

Patience, men. Patience. Give 'em enough rope and....
  • free......................................
    Greg......

I am not trying to be disrepectful but are you free from your parents really?

if the answer is yes that means you have repaid them for all the bills you ran up while in college.......right.

    tuition,books etc.....

    jist ax'in.................
  • Repeating history's mistakes
Maybe I'm wrong, but isn't this one of the stupid ideas that started the current economic mess in the first place? Giving mortgages to people who couldn't afford them?
  • Government by the people
I find that people get the government they deserve. If Barney Frank was not providing services the people of Massachusetts want, he would not be in office. The same goes for our president (or any two-bit dictator for that matter). One either fights or simply acquiesce to tyranny. There is no middle ground that does collapse into a pit of self-immolation.
  • Ol' Massa Barney
    Ivan's got it!
Tens of thousands of American young men gave their lives to free America's slaves in the War Between The States. A slave was provided their housing, clothing, food, medical care, and treated very well if they remained compliant to the master's wishes. Slaves were a huge financial investment for their owners. Slaves didn't have to think for themselves or even worry about the future because the master had that all taken care of.
How pathetic that those Union soldiers died in vain. Freedom was not what the slaves wanted. They just didn't want to work. Ol' Massa Barney's got it figured out.
  • What were you expecting?
You are never truly free until you pay for it yourself. As long as someone gives you something, you owe them. My parents were very keen to get me off their dole as soon as I finished college and could work on my own.

Being free and clear of my parents, we could talk about many issues, with no fear of having something taken away. They weren't paying for me car, my apartment, or anything else. I felt no sense of entitlement, and they felt no lack of respect for things given.

Every time the government hands someone a check, it increases the sense of entitlement in the receiver, the sense of expected loyalty gratitude in the government, and the sense of resentment amongst the rest of us tax payers. That is not good, and why I think the founding fathers were very much against welfare. And please don't mistake welfare as being the same as charity.
  • did you fall off...........................................
    Randy..............

did you fall off your trampoline and hit your head???

the peeple of MA are nothing but DUMBASSES!!!! just look who else they keep sending back to d.c.

non swimming champion WATERHEAD(die you bastard)Teddy(hope you die soon) Kennedy.

    John (I'm a lying son of a bitch)(I married a bitch but she's rich)Kerry.

if you are not careful we will have to take away your computer time. now go think about what you said.
  • General Strike
As long as the archivers in this country keep on sacrificing themselves to the collective and produce revenue to be SEIZED and used to buy votes, we will never be free from this tyranny.
  • Give'm a house to live in ...
    Only trouble is ...

The smell of urine in the upstairs hall isn't because the landlord pissed there.
  • Slobbering Barney
Wouldn't you think that, at SOME point, enough Massachusetts folk would become embarassed enough to just vote for ANYONE ELSE? Barney Frank is a leftist career politician with absolutely zero interest in anything other than controlling the people; it boggles the mind that they actually return him to office, again and again.
  • Its all about...
creating loyal slaves. You give people a house to live in and you can literally control every aspect of their life. That person will now do whatever you tell them to because you have leverage over their home. This is how Obama will create his army.
