Jamie Dupree is actually reading the Cap & Trade bill. You won't believe what he has found hiding in there.

Would you like to know why Wal-Mart got in bed with the unions on the government health care issue? No mystery. Read this.

The United States - and that means you - will suffer so Democrats can claim to have saved the planet.

The SEC is debating proposed rules that would require firms that have received government bailouts to let shareholders vote on executive pay.

What else is in the fine print of this 300 page amendment to the cap-and-trade bill? How about an entire section of the bill that is missing .. only referred to as "reserved."

Will PrezBO try to bury his government take-over of health care in a budget reconciliation bill? Won't work, says Kondracke.

One good side to the recession? The fall of the workplace jerk. Well, I dunno. I still have a job.

You'll appreciate this ... take a look at the different ways that the lamestream media covers Barack Obama's golf trips compared to George Bush's.

Speaking of lamestream media, here's the latest headline from Detail's magazine: "Can Obama Make You Better In Bed?"

Here's an excellent column from the vice president of the Cato Institute about Barack Obama's love of government.

Why do Democrats continue to insist that a government option for healthcare will "keep the private sector honest"?

A failing Hawaiian bank gets $135 million in bailout funds, only after Senator Inouye's office makes a call to the bank regulator. Oh by the way, Senator Inouye helped establish the bank and has most of his life savings invested in it.

The Obama administration is doing anything it can to shave off money from this healthcare proposal so that it will fall below the $1 trillion mark.

Obama choose Arne Duncan as his Secretary of Education, who used to be Chief of Chicago government schools. Take a look at how those schools are thriving. Or not.

The unions are upset that Citigroup has decided to increase rates on its credit cards "during a time when record unemployment and home foreclosures are forcing families to rely more and more on their credit cards just to get by."

This idea continues to resurface ... the idea of a fuel tax being replaced by-the-mile road tax.

The government taxpayers will not continue to fund GM operations if the company doesn't get approval to sell its assets to a new company within the next 10 days.

Our favorite moonbat, Cynthia McKinney, was on a boat headed to Gaza when it was taken control by the Israeli navy. Needless to say, she wasn't too happy about it.

Make of this what you will, but more Americans now see the Democrat party as "too liberal."

If California has to close state parks because of budget cuts, the federal government is likely to seize some of them.

Which state has the most blubberbutts? I'll give you a hint ... it has won this title five years in a row.

What others are saying

  • Collective Salvation?
"There is no individual salvation without collective salvation," Obama proclaimed, making clear that government would stand in for God as our savior.

Obama has talked about "collective salvation" on more than one occasion. He talked about it at Knox College in 2005. He also talked about it in a public radio interview done in Chicago in the late 1990s. I don't know about anyone else, that phrase makes my blood run cold. How much does he value his personal salvation? How much do you value yours? What would you do to protect your salvation? What would he do to protect his?

So, if his salvation is tied to the salvation of everyone, how far will he go to ensure they conform with what he thinks should be done to accomplish salvation?

I'd like for someone to ask him this question and for him to give and explain his answer.

It has been observed that the greatest threat to the health and well-being of
Americans is membership in Southern Baptist church congregations. Nowadays,
deep fried triple chocolate dipped twinkiness is next to godliness in places like Alabama and Mississippi.
When did gluttony fall off the list of
the seven deadly sins? For that matter,
when did the concept of sin become irrelevant even in the Baptist Church?

  • @ JCooper
No mileage tax please. Just saying the odometer reading at inspections could suffice instead of a chip IF they passed another tax. I'm in Texas. Yearly vehicle inspections required.
  • Hussein doesn’t just make you potent, he makes you omni potent!
Just mention his name and dumb girls lose it.

Yea, national health care will keep the health care industry honest like fannie and Freddie kept the mortgage industry honest.

Inouye has a (D) after his name, so it’s okay if he has conflicts of interest and peddles influence. If you go to the WaPo story where the linked propublica story was originally published, you’ll notice Inouye’s party affiliation wasn’t mentioned until the 5th paragraph, on his 4th reference by name. If you have to play guess the party affiliation for more than two sentences into a wayward politician ‘news’ story, there’s better than a 90% probability the affiliation is democrat. If it’s a GOP politician, it’s usually in the lead.

Why is hussein bothering to try to shave the claimed cost of nationalizing health care down to $1,000,000,000,000? Even if that is the magic focus group number, he’s just going to pile it all back on once it passes, and then some.

Hussein’s taking Chicago national. We’ll have ‘fix a pothole’ day soon, and other days like it, so we can fulfill our yearly compulsory volunteerism requirements.

If you’re depending on credit cards for anything other than convenience, you’re in trouble. Watch for the unions get some exclusive break or exemption.

The by-the-mile idea will keep resurfacing until it passes. Then they will bring back the old fuel tax, because there is already the precedent for it, and we’ll have both taxes.

GM fire sale. They’ll get a great return on the taxpayer’s investment on that one. I have to wonder if they have a dp contributor ready to snatch the super-bargain they are forcing.

I just wish they would make mckinney stay in gaza, entertaining as she is.

I’d think biguns would be concentrated in cold states with lots of beer and cheese, what’s the South got to beat that? Apparently something.
  • Missed the 1st one, will check it out, thanks Mr. Dupree.
Just like I suspected, Walmart puts off the gator for a while by feeding others to it. The clintonistas and union goons didn’t set up those fronts and campaigns just to get wallyworld to go along with nationalizing health care, wallyworld is further down the menu, but it’s still on it. They are selling the clintonistas the rope to hang them with.

Most people have no idea how much and widespread that suffering will be, including in those countries that love to hate us, but depend on us. With the dp ‘energy policy’ we are basically jumping off a cliff with the hope we will learn to fly before we splatter on the rocks below. Adding cap and trade is like trying the same thing with an anvil strapped to us. The climate will continue changing as it always has, and the continental plates will keep moving as they always do.

I’m pretty sure if I got bored enough, drank enough coffee, and read the bailout law passed last fall, few if any of these government control strings would be in it. This is something like chavez or zelaya would pull. If nobody stops them, they will just assume the power.

A blank section marked “Reserved,” inserted in the c&t bill is worse than a signed blank check. I’m sure whatever they fill it with will be interesting. It’s hard for the dp to amaze me anymore, but if they vote on that bill with the ‘reserved’ section still in the amendment, I really will be. It sounds like something out of the old soviet congress. Why not, what’s to stop them?

Mr. Kondrake might want to watch his bets at this time. The fed is getting away with a lot they can’t do these days.

The msm never had a discouraging word about wild bill’s golfing either, but hey, there’s no bias or double standard between the dp and GOP, it’s just a figment of your hallucination.
  • What? @ 07/02/09 10:01:11 AM
Mileage Tax?? Where do you live?? I haven't had a car inspection sense the 70s I'm in FLA.

  • Tax by the mile
We don't need another agency to have to track all the miles driven. Decouple all roads and bridges from the state and federal general funds and then raise gas taxes to support the maintenance. Cars that get poor gas mileage (i.e.heavy vehicles) will pay more, small cars will pay less which is fair because of the difference in wear and tear to the roads. This way the user pays, the government doesn't build another agency to worry about where people are going, and there would be no more PORK for roads and bridges. It is quite simple really.
  • replace gas tax with per-mile tax based on miles driven?
When has a politician ever replaced one tax with another? There'll be both taxes.

IIRC, the gas tax revenue used to go into the highway trust fund to be used for road construction and repair. Then some politicians decided the gas tax money should go into the general fund. Time passes. Roads deteriorate. Must need to raise taxes to pay for road repair. Hmmmm.

Get the price of gas waaaay up with cap-and-trade. Get the per-mile tax on driving the automobile waaay up. Then they'll have to figure out how to tax my bicycle and/or my shoe leather. If I manage somehow not to starve or freeze to death. Ooops, they're gonna have to reinstate the inheritance tax.
  • Obvious:
Wal-Mart acting in a manner completely consistent with maintaining/increasing Wal-Mart's competitive advantage ... and finding a way to stuff one of their biggest critics at the same time

Politicians emulating Caligula - (sarcasm on) wow, there's a first (sarcasm off). Caligula is alleged to have raised a large army and gone off to conquer new lands, marched about halfway there, turned around, marched home and celebrated a great victory.

Filibuster would only prolong the inevitable - politicians will continue to do whatever serves their personal interests best.

The Constitution needs to be printed on nice soft paper with non-irritating ink so our gubmint will be able to use it for something.
  • Inouye should be investigated
Funny, how a Dimpcrap (or corruptocrat) senator from Hawaii can pick up the phone and arrange a bailout with no questions asked. Not to mention all the conflict-of-interest issues.

Where's the MSM on this one? Imagine the feigned "outrage" if this was a republican senator...

  • Mileage Tax
If it came about, why would you need a tracking chip in your car? The tax could be calculated yearly based on the mileage reading when you get an inspection. Could a tracking chip have some other purpose? Hmmmm....
  • Walmart
Walmart knows how the game is played. Mandated health insurance will raise the barriers to entry, cost more for the competition because Walmart has more employees to amortize the cost over and because they are the nation's largest private employer, they will probably get to be at the table in future discussions about the regulations.
  • Regulations + A Moonbat
Hey, I just found out that our efforts to stem global warming will created a new ice age beginning in 2050, so we need trillions of dollars now to regulate ourselves out of this crisis too.

Can Israel deport the “Moonbat” to Mongolia instead of sending her back to the USA? Let’s see how well the Chinese treat her and her friends.
  • RE: Democrat party as "too liberal." - The Democrats labeling themselves as 'Liberal' is their #1 Lie.
Look at their agenda – where the H*ll does 'Liberty' – as implied by the term 'Liberal' factor into it?
  • Frank frank frank
that 60 includes two independents. They do tend to vote with Dems, but not always. Don't count your chickens before the oil boils....
  • Dems claim to save the planet AND workplace jerk
    Follow me here,
    Man made climate change is fiction therefore;
    No matter what we do or don't do, we aren't going to fry so;
When the Dems loose power in congress they can tell us "We can't scrap cap and trade, it has saved the planet."

As for the workplace jerk. If you suspect that the economy in your area is improving, go have dinner at Appleby's. If you get good service, the economy is not recovering. If a semi-literate, borderline mentally challenged recent high school graduate screws up your order and neglects to refill you soft drinks, then it means that all the smart people have regained decent jobs and the local economy is doing well.

True, we no longer uphold the constitution. Isn't that in the oath they all take in Washington? Wonder if that could be used against them in court....

WHEN is someone going to challenge these people? July 4th celebration! Just like the constitution, it no longer has any meaning.
  • California Parks
I'd love to know where in the Constitution it gives the federal government the power to take over a state park. I seem to recall the 9th and 10th amendment preventing that sort of thing. But then again, when has our federal government bothered to pay attention to those 4 little papers stuffed into a pretty, glass case? the Govenator ought to just flip the feds off and say, "Try it".
