Here's a little cheat sheet for you .. a Boortz cheat sheet on the latest facts about this government healthcare scheme that you need to know! Don't think for a second that these Democrats actually care about your health or your access to clinics or your freedom to choose doctors. They don't. They care about one thing, and that is power. I know, we've covered that before. There is, though, only one real way these people stay in power: you vote for them and keep them there. So the only way these people are going to vote against this healthcare boondoggle is if you tell them that you don't support it. So here are just a few reasons to ponder ...

- Congressional Budget Office Director Douglas Elmendorf said "The health care overhauls released to date would increase, not reduce, the burgeoning long-term health costs facing the government,"

Don't believe me? Here's the link.

-"According to that assessment [from the CBO], enacting the proposal would result in a net increase in federal budget deficits of about $1.0 trillion over the 2010-2019 period."

Don't believe me? Here's the link.

-"A new report by the Lewin Group (commissioned by the Heritage Foundation) finds that the House Democrats' health care bill would shift more than 83.4 million Americans from private health care coverage to the government plan. To put that in perspective, that would mean that nearly half (48.4 percent) would lose their private health coverage."

Don't believe me? Here's the link.

-"Currently, the top rate is 35 percent. But in his budget President Obama proposed raising the top two income tax rates from 33 and 35 percent to 36 and 39.6 percent. Families in the top 20 percent of income earners already pay 94% percent more income taxes than middle-income families. The new surtaxes would extend progressivity at the top of the income spectrum and raise the disparity in taxes paid between middle- and low-income families and high-earning families."

Don't believe me? Here's the link.

-"In the six highest-taxed states, Oregon (11 percent top income tax rate), Hawaii (11 percent), New Jersey (10.75 percent), New York (8.97 percent), California (10.55 percent), and Rhode Island (9.9 percent), the top rates would be higher than all but Denmark among OECD countries if the Obama plan and surtax become law."

Don't believe me? Here's the link.

-"Under these higher taxes, families and small businesses making over $350,000 in every state would face higher top rates than 21 OECD countries--including France, Italy, and Spain. Even the nine states with no state income tax at all would have higher rates than these social democracies that are typically regarded as countries with punitively high taxes. Taxpayers in all 41 states that do levy an income tax would pay a top rate that is higher than all but seven of the 30 OECD countries."

Don't believe me? Here's the link.

-"The Senate version of President Obama's government health care overhaul contains a mandate that all businesses provide their employees with health insurance or pay a fine, unless the business employs fewer than 25 people. Critics say the 25-employee benchmark could stifle small business growth by prompting companies to limit themselves to 24 employees."

Don't believe me? Here's the link.

-"The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee's health care legislation will give the Health and Human Services secretary the authority to develop "standards of measuring gender" -- as opposed tousing the traditional "male" and "female" categories -- ina database of allwho apply or participate in government-run or government-supported health care plans."

Don't believe me? Here's the link.

-"More than a million small business owners and about two-thirds of the profits earned byU.S. small businesses would behitbythe income taxincrease onthe "rich"that House Democratic leaders want to enact to pay for the health-care reform plan President Obama wants passed this summer, a taxpayer watchdog says."

Don't believe me? Here's the link.

-"A survey by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) found that 20 percent of its respondents would simply shut down if they were faced with this choice of being forced to offer health insurance. They couldn't afford it. One out of four said they would replace full-time workers with part-time workers in order to avoid having to pay anything."

Don't believe me? Here's the link.

-"According to the National Tax Foundation, the top total tax rate on Americans -- that is, state, local and federal taxes -- will top 50% in 39 states" if the Democrats pass their healthcare legislation.

Don't believe me? Here's the link.

-"So we can all keep our coverage, just as promised -- with, of course, exceptions: Those who currently have private individual coverage won't be able to change it. Nor will those who leave a company to work for themselves be free to buy individual plans from private carriers."

Don't believe me? Here's the link.

-"A quick review of the legislation shows that it calls for two new government agencies, three trust funds, three advisory panels, two task forces, a research center, a medical device registry, an ombudsman and many pilot and demonstration programs."

Don't believe me? Here's the link.

All this sounds so wonderful, doesn't it? The same political party that brought us Social Security and Medicare is on the march again. Watch the carnage.

What others are saying

  • reliable?
Maybe I could believe something from this article if at least one link came from an unbiased source. Most are from editorials or CNS news.
  • rejoyce
oh right, sorry...you were talking about saving social security and preserving it. My bad.

again, you're right - the current plan will trash medicare. So, that would be why you're opposed to it, right? to stop those sneaky dems from destroying medicare. You're my new hero!

again, changes can be made to keep SS intact. http://bulletin.aarp.org/yourmoney/socialsecurity/articles/ss_ideas.html

What am I doing here? poking the freaks, what else? :-)
  • Wake up snarky
At what point did I say trash it? If we go with the proposed plan however, medicare/medicaid will basically be trashed so how do you justify that?

And we won't have to trash social security, it'll trash itself when we go completely broke.

If this site is what you call a "societal pressure release valve" what are you doing here?

No, don't need Neal to tell me how to think, I just look at what is being proposed and think for myself WTF!!! Certainly don't go by a party's talking point memo like you.
  • reresanity
and, regarding dictators. they need someone to blame sanity. that's how it works. you need to get the true believers worked up real good and they need to have a clear enemy to focus on.

what is it you think is happening here when you and others chomp on this bit of socialism, terrorism, non-citizen, liberals hate america pablum?

    wake up.

Neal and his ilk are societal pressure release valves. You have them so you all don't completely go off the deep end.

So, keep on posting and keep on listening and attending your little tea parties.

The rest of us have work to do.

    Graze on sheep.
  • resanity
    again, the retards speak.

I love this - AHHHH we can't have govt running healthcare! Keep the Dr patient relationship!

Um, who is it you think is fondeling your "jewels" now? a Dr? Um, No. that would be a for profit insurance company executive.

Profit = healthcare for all? Um, no. And all those "covered" people? yeah, they're covered...until they get sick. Then they get kicked off the rolls or denied coverage.

Seriously - has anyone been paying attention here or are you all just chewing Boortz's cud?
  • Turn your head and cough.
    snarkybird
The only ones that Hitler took advantage of where people like you who like having politicians fondling their family jewels.

I do not want any politicians hands on my family jewels asking me to cough. No National Health-Care.
  • rejoyce
typical. something that's done so many great things for people has a few problems and people like you cower.

where is your spirit to fix things for the betterment of our country.

seriously? do you know how many people you'd harm with this "it's broke, let's trash it" mentality?

oh, heck - let's just leave it to the market. it's so stable.

the rest of us figured this out in the 40's. what's your excuse?
  • bankrupt - duh and nuh-uh
Look, with minor changes, SS can be made to last another 75 years. hardly bankrupt.

Medicare/caid? Um, when the president is talking about health care costs being out of control and on an unsustainable path, what is it exactly you think he's talking about?? Hellooo?? How can you guys cite the CBO saying costs wont be reduced and then state that these programs will be bankrupt like you found a shiny penny?

    scary stuff.

But, this is the same group who actually understands sarah palin when she speaks so, perhaps the govt isn't being obtuse enough for you...
  • Snarky needs to put DOWN his drugs!
Just because something is used and abused does not make it popular or needed. People have become dependent on it you mean. All just because people couldn't be trusted to take care of their own retirement or planning for emergencies.

Yeah that is a great reason to come up with a leviathan that now threatens to swallow us all.
  • Popular
Anyone who thinks SS and medicare are unpopular and unneeded haven't been paying attention.

I thought this board had educated people (silly me). Anyone who has even a passing knowledge of history knows how much these programs have done to save lives and make our country a better place.

Those of you looking for references and data, go ask your local high school teacher (public or private).

Cmon people. Your becoming the tards you claim are the ones ruining things.

Who is it you think hitler took advantage of when he took over? You people are ripe for a dictator. I hope neal and sean and rush perk up and do their jobs of keeping you in line better.

    you need more pablum.
  • Big Joe has spoken
and man he said it all.
(Meanwhile, somewhere in pantytown, a liberal is crying softly into his/her hanky, and finding it in his/her bleeding heart to forgive Joe for his harsh words...)
  • Excited
I sure wish we had decent people in govt. People who could finally kill all this govt intervention in our lives. It will be a great day when SS, medicare and the like are dead. Along with all the people they keep alive. Small price to pay for a more constitutional govt I think.

Maybe we can make them into food or fuel.
  • Re: Bob I understand that, but people need to realize that business will whatever they can to avoid this issue.
The government can simply lower that number at some point in the future, and businesses will respond in kind.

Look at on the bright side – companies that make automation machinery will have a field day!
  • Sorry neal, your staff missed a number...
It's not : Top 20 percent of income earners already pay 94 percent more It's 943 !!!! percent more. Yeah, Nine HUNDRED and forty-three percent.

Poor Copyleft, he claims is opinion can actually stand on it's own as immutable fact. Poor kid, he must not get out much. Normal Americans finding "Social Security and Medicare are hugely POSITIVE"?? He says it and then cannot PROVE it. So that's why so many people get stocks, bonds, real estate and trillions in investment. It's because Social Security and Medicare are so wonderful.... and one will be insolvent in 2037 and 2017, respectively, according to the CBO.
  • Government
I've said it before and I'll say it again: We have a derranged, illegal immigrant, anti-American, socialist, radical muslim terrorist currently occupying our White House, illegally. This is nothing more than a terrorist attack on our country. A few years ago, we were warned by the FBI/CIA(?) director that Americans need to prepare for a new kind of terrorist attack. This is it. Did you prepare? It's mind-numbing to me that anyone could think Osama is not doing this intentionally. It is mind-numbing to me when I hear ANY American call us a "democracy"(see Article 4, Section 4 of the United States Constitution). It is mind-numbing when I see Americans and political leaders display their economic ignorance. It is mind-numbing that the general American populace has, obviously, been severely brainwashed by the government education system, Hollywood, and the government media.

Well, the people keep sending their kids back to the government schools and colleges to be dumbed-down, misinformed, and brainwashed by the bureaucrats(yes, especially at YOUR kids school!). The people keep supporting government theft and destruction of private businesses and industries. The people keep calling us a "democracy".

Now I know how a cockroach feels when he's being flushed down the toilet. Cause that's where our country is now...at the bottom of the toilet. Good luck and God bless all the freedom-loving, mom-and-apple-pie-loving, troop-supporting, red-white-and-blue Americans. The rest of you are traitors who deserve death.

I think Newt Gingrich is correct when he says that "we are gonna have to lose a few cities(from nuclear attack) before these people are gonna wake up"
  • Many didn't vote for it.
Many of the nations around the world that have socialized/universal health care did not get a chance to vote. It came with the "British Mandate" for the ones that used to be in the commonwealth.
  • Copyleft wins the drool cup award of the day
Medicare/Social Security "hugely successful"?? Newsflash: S.S. is bankrupt and medicare is a joke--just ask any medical practitioner.

The joke is actually on the lefties who voted for this a#@ clown of a president, who will see their taxes rise to over 56% in places like California.

Whatever Kool-Aid you're drinking, it must be MIGHTY strong stuff.
  • "Normal Americans"
Hate to break it to you Copyleft, but there are many of us who do NOT wish to survive off the government teat for anything at all. We want to set our OWN standards of living and achieve more than what the government deems to be what we "deserve." Social Security and Medicare are just more forms of welfare that the government should not be able to stick it's grubby hands into our paychecks to subsidize.
  • @ Ace
I do not disagree with what you said, but THE CURRENT BILL states that it is 25 employees or $400K of payroll whichever is hit first. Just stating the fact. You can have 6 employees at 75K each, and get wacked hence why I brought up the 2nd half of the statement from the bill.
  • Listed States With The Highest Tax Rates
Notice that ALL of those states went for Obama in 2008? It will really be change those residents can believe in.
  • I've oftern wondered...
If the people who voted for socialized medicine ever think in their minds, "I've been hoodwinked!" when they are on their deathbed from a disease that would have been cured by a medicine deemed too expensive by their government?

I've also wondered if those who think Social Security is wonderful also understand how much more money they would have earned and could have passed on when they died just by investing a simple Certificate of Deposit or Bond Fund.

Judging by some of the comments I see on the board, my guess is no! The greedy rich are to blame for everything.
  • 25 Employees
I hope they don't include independent contracts as part of the 25 employees. That way everyone would be independent, get your own liability insurance, then the grand gov health insurance. Then they could probably get you for your own corporate taxes.
  • Re: Bob Its not just 25 employees: its 25 employees and/or > $400,000 of payroll
Sorry, Bob but either one of those numbers can be easily changed, the same question still holds true:
What happens when our 'rulers' decide to lower that number?

Hopefully they will lay off the Fauxbamabots first.
  • Okay, we should all thank Copyleft for the comic relief of her Self Be-Clowning.
Take the Line: “Social Security and Medicare are hugely POSITIVE terms. They're wildly popular and very, very successful”.

That is so laughably stupid, it virtually discredits itself with it's own absurdity.

    LOL!!
Keep up the good work CL!!!
  • Bob, you made my case
I didn't look up the numbers, but pulled them from memory (thus all the "abouts" in my post). Your numbers actually make the case more condemning. The demographics are just horrible for this program.
  • Healthcare reform
Fine - let's REFORM the system because it's broken. Of course, following the SCIENTIFIC METHOD (something Copy with his PhD in climatology knows all about) the first thing that we have to do is to clearly state the problem.

So, Copy, Stan, 3m, Herman, Hugo et al... Please define EXACTLY what is wrong with healthcare today in the USA. Shoddy doctors? High costs? Not enough choices? Too much litigation? Not enough doctors? Not enough hospitals? What EXACTLY is the problem with the system - but remember this is science - so you have to BE SPECIFIC!

Then, I'd like for you to peruse the 1,000+ pages of the legislation that is out there and (being specific) cite the page, paragraph, etc. of the new plan that will address the problems you cite with the current system and how the new plan will fix the existing problems.

Come on - here's your chance!!! Convince me.
  • All the screaming in the world
doesn't do a da*n bit of good. I vote Republican and I write my politicians. Neal suggests "the only way these people are going to vote against this healthcare boondoggle is if you tell them that you don't support it."

I keep telling them, and THEY'RE NOT LISTENING. I receive emails of "thanks for letting us know your position, but I disagree." Neal has this right (as usual). The politicians are only interested in POWER.
  • re:Owen
Sorry your figures are slightly off. Average life expectancy at start of SSI was 61, Date to collect 65, with a younger worker pool.
  • Copyleft..is the the best argument you can forward?
Look Copyleft...you claim that Social Security is "Very VERY" successful?!!! Are you out of your mind?!!
A past Heritage Foundation study (reported by Beach and Davis, 1998) reveals that the

"Social Security system's rate of return for most Americans will be vastly inferior to what they could expect from placing their payroll taxes in even the most conservative private investments. For the low-income African-American male age 38 or younger, the news is particularly grim: He is likely to pay more into the Social Security system than he can ever expect to receive in benefits after inflation and taxes. Staying in the current system will likely cost him up to $160,000 in lifetime income in 1997 dollars."

They continue to cite one example:

"Social Security pays a very low rate of return for two-income households with children. Social Security's inflation-adjusted rate of return is only 1.23 percent for an average household of two 30-year-old earners with children in which each parent made just under $26,000 in 1996.1 Such couples will pay a total of about $320,000 in Social Security taxes over their lifetime (including employer payments) and can expect to receive benefits of about $450,000 (in 1997 dollars, before applicable taxes) after retiring at age 67, the retirement age when they are eligible for full Social Security Old-Age benefits. Had they placed that same amount of lifetime employee and employer tax contributions into conservative tax-deferred IRA-type investments-such as a mutual fund composed of 50 percent U.S. government Treasury bills and 50 percent equities-they could expect a real rate of return of over 5 percent per year prior to the payment of taxes after retirement. In this latter case, the total amount of income accumulated by retirement would equal approximately $975,000 (in 1997 dollars, before applicable taxes).

So, how successful is Social security? Notwithstanding the recent down-turn in stocks, history has shown us that it will continue to improve at a better than SS rate over time...as long as DEMS just GET OUT OF OR WAY!

Oh, BTW, how "VERY VERY" successful is Medicare? All I know is that you can't see me in my clinic with Medicare or Medicaid. It's not too popular around here.
    Phil Mc
  • 25 employees
Its not just 25 employees: its 25 employess and/or > $400,000 of payroll
  • Social Security IS a Dirty Word
    Copyleft:

Social security is a sham that put out trillions of dollars of promises with no ability to repay. It was passed at a time when the life expectancy was about 67 years, and the average age of the workforce was about 30. It was a pretty good deal for those last couple of years before your fatal heart attack, and there weren't very many people drawing it. (This was the same demographics conditions that led GM to grant the unions their overly generous pensions much to their demise). Roll forward about 70 years and the average worker age is about 15-20 years higher and life expectancy is in the high 70's. Bankruptcy is the only path left for this vote buying program, unfortunately, we are the ones who will pay for this bankruptcy.

    Owen
  • New Troll
Nah, Herman is more intelligent than Stanley. Course that ain't saying much...

As to Copygirl, how you figure "nobody listens to them"? You just throwing crap out there and hoping it sticks?

Social Security is great for those already drawing it. It's those of us still paying into the system that see it won't be around much longer. Not to mention all the experts that say it'll go broke in about 17 years I think was the last estimate.

So that means when you get out of school, live off daddy's money for awhile, there won't be any SS$ for you!
  • Social Security
Social Security/Medicare..the biggest Ponzi scheme in history
  • Slip-up by Neal
He was going great right up until the end, when he said

"The same political party that brought us Social Security and Medicare is on the march again."

You see, to normal Americans, Social Security and Medicare are hugely POSITIVE terms. They're wildly popular and very, very successful.

Only the fringe nuts and Randroids have spent their lives trying to turn Social Security into a curse word... and they've failed. This is why nobody listens to them.
  • Herman took Stans place...
Did anyone else notice that Herman Blume is commenting about the same time that Stan always did. He also manages to stay on topic as much, and ends with an ad hominum attack.

    Hey Stan, you have competition!
  • Re: Critics say the 25-employee benchmark could stifle small business growth by prompting companies to limit themselves to 24 employees."
What happens when our 'rulers' decide to lower that number?
  • re:Definitely verifiable information
"I need some more help seeing if this is authentic." You think wikipedia is authentic? Anybody can write whatever they want there and you will take it as authentic? No wonder you can't think or authenticate for yourself.
  • Dang Neal!
Too much caffeine this morning? Who put this together for you?

It's kewl though.... will take me awhile to get through it, but the 25 employee thing caught my eye, you can bet my boss will be watching our levels.
  • Definitely verifiable information
You have quotes w/ links to blogs and biased media!!! Can you cite to wikipedia also, I need some more help seeing if this is authentic. Did some republican gun-nut who is living in his bomb shelter underneath a church send you this information?
  • Excellent, but
Excellent! Thanks! Let's not forget that legislators, even Obama, are exempt from this plan, while the rest of us will be forced to be a part of it.
