INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY?

Let's talk for a bit about Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee. She decided that for some reason, she was going to play a prominent role in the memorial service of Michael Jackson. Well .. it was a spectacle, and what better place to make a spectacle out of yourself.

Back to the hyphenated Congresswoman in a moment. I made a few ... and just a few ... of my Twitter followers mad yesterday with some of my tweets about this memorial service thing out in La La land. I made clear my belief that Michael Jackson was a pedophile and that the world was now a better place. There was much agreement, but there were also some strong rebukes. I looked at the tweets of some of the people who took me to task. Really sad stuff. "Oh Michael, why did you leave me?" "The world will never be the same without this great man." "Michael was the most important person in my life." "I'm crying again, I just can't help it."

Yesterday we showed the world the worst face of the mindless culture of celebrity worship. We elevate these people to the position of Gods. Our bibles are People Magazine and US Weekly. Our services are held nightly on Entertainment Tonight.

Back to the esteemed Congresswoman from Houston. Sheila Jackson-Lee decided that she wanted to defend Michael Jackson against any charges of child molestation. Here's what she had to say: "We understand the Constitution, we understand laws, and we know that people are innocent until proven otherwise ... That is what the Constitution stands for." In case you missed it, here's the video:

OK ...here's a little civics lesson for you. This "innocent until proven guilty" thing ONLY applies to government. The idea that a person is innocent of a crime until he has been convicted is a complete absurdity. Once you've murdered someone, you are a murderer. You don't become a murderer when the jury says "guilty." You become a murderer when you pull the trigger. You've taken a life. Jury deliberations don't change that.

The purpose of the "innocent until proven guilty" concept is to hold a tight rein on government. Government, you see, is the only entity out there that can legally take your life, your property or your freedom. Our founding fathers saw fit to require that the government prove you're your guilt beyond a reasonable doubt before these actions are taken. So ... the ONLY place where this "innocent until proven guilty" standard applies is to government attempts to punish you for a crime. It doesn't apply to me or to you because we aren't empowered to carry out punishment.

So, Mrs. Jackson-Lee; only the government is forbidden from assigning guilt without due process, and there are plenty of exceptions to that rule, by the way. As for me .. as for the people ... we are perfectly free to assign guilt based on our beliefs, knowledge of the facts and understandings of the circumstances. We believe that O.J. Simpson butchered his wife. He's a murderer. And we believe that Michael Jackson was a child molester. Having millions of dollars you can use to pay off families and victims does NOT make you innocent.

Oh and while we are on the topic of Jacko's memorial service. Barack Obama apparently owes his presidency to Michael Jackson. That one is according to Al Sharpton.

What others are saying

  • That Sheila
That Sheila Jackson-Lee... down here we like to say "She never met a camera she didn't like" and "The most dangerous place to be is between SJ-L and a TV camera".
  • Actually Nunya
I was responding to your judgmental attitude. All your comments are yours. Your opinions. Stating them does not make them so, just like any of us.

As far as stating something we know to be untrue, just because a jury said innocent does not make our statements untrue. You know how juries are. Sometimes they make mistakes.

I guess I did take it personally because you did seem to be judging everyone that states an opinion and I took issue with that attitude. Hopefully, you got my point.
  • So the kids aren't even MJ's. He paid a white doctor for his little swimmers, married a white woman so he could have her artificially inseminated with the white doctor's squigglies.

    Two questions.

How much did he pay the doctor?

How much did he pay the "wife"?

So in essence, he bought two kids for his own so he could sleep with them any time he wanted.

    Now that's genius...
  • DISGUSTING
Maybe if John Wayne Gacy had a better stage act & sang crappy pop songs in a horrible castrato voice he'd still be alive today.

Get it straight, people. Michael Jackson was NOT an ARTIST. He was an ENTERTAINER, & only jaded fanatics with adolescent minds were impressed with anything he recorded beyond the Jackson 5.
  • The commenter KM summed things up pretty well.
But just a couple other things:
    (1) Uh, the second trial was a criminal trial of his peers, not a civil suit. The decision had to be unanimous, and jurors deliberated for 33 hours before finding him not guilty on all ten charges.
    (2) His kids have to be aware of the negative press swirling around. Imagine losing the only parent you've ever known, and millions of people are calling him a pedophile and a freak and a bad father. If you think you'd handle it just fine, good for you. Most 7-12 year olds won't.
    (3) Both accusers families, especially the one brought to criminal trial, proved themselves to be extremely unreliable and inconsistent in their descriptions of events.
    (4) There is no better way to permanently destroy a man's life than to accuse him of being a pedophile. None. Just look how his life/career imploded from 1993 onward.
  • Wacko Jacko and his Ravening Horde
You wanna talk about pathetic, Neal? I have one for you. Yesterday one of my friends showed me a Tweet from a woman who wanted to have an abortion because she didn't want to bring her child into a world without MJ, and hoped her husband would understand. Really, the level of celebrity-worship in this country is appalling, and none of the fan-twits seem to think there's anything wrong with that.
  • Guilty Until Declared Otherwise By Neal. . .
I dunno, Neal. While I you're obviously right about the presumption of innocence being a restriction applicable only to government as far as the LAW is concerned, I think it's a fairly good philosophy to follow for the rest of us as well. That way, we're less likely to strut around behind a kill-button and a phalanx of suck-ups making pronouncements about the lives and actions of people about whom we have no clue.

. . .And, as ever Neal, you truly have no clue. (This comes from one who couldn't give two shi'ites about Michael Jackson, FWIW.)
  • Everyone has an opinion on Michael Jackson--apparently many people are unable to appreciate talent or accept the fact that Michael Jackson had a bunch of loyal fans. Some people on this blog are upset because they think that we Americans don't pay enough attention to those serving in Iraq. How would you know? Do you go around asking everyone on a daily basis if they are honoring our soldiers? How can anyone think that Amercians don't appreciate our men and women who are putting their lives in danger (whom, by the way, I assume joined the military voluntarily)? Yes, I was extremely saddened by the passing of MJ, but I wasn't mourning the loss of an entertainer, but because a mother lost her son, brothers and sisters lost one of their own, and some children lost their daddy. If you believe he is guilty, fine, believe it, as Boortz says, you are free to believe what you want, and then shut up. No one else cares what you believe, and it won't make a differnce in anyone's life, so get over it. Turn your energy away from the keyboard and go earn some money so that one day you'll have enough so that someone can pay some real attention to you.
  • Re: Sheila Jackson-Lee
She's just another political whore pimping her arrogant agenda for personal gain on the stage of public stupidity while completely and blissfully ignorant of the concepts of decency, modesty and self control.

Wait a minute! I think I've just coined the new Democratic Party motto.
  • What ticks me off the most...
...is that MJ was apparently several hundred millions of dollars in debt, and somehow they were able to put together that big giant shindig?

Why do I get the feeling that myself and other taxpayers will be paying for this at somepoint?
  • dumb and dumber
This is about the law of supply and demand. The world demanded an entertainer like MJ and Joe Jackson supplied the world with one.

Michael Jackson was dumb as a brick for sure. Celebrity worship is even dumber.

But any old scarecrow with a brain of straw will recognize that MJ was an exceptional talent. Only a few will remember him as such. That is sad indeed.

If Michael molested a child he deserved to go to jail. But, I wonder if Boortz or anyone else would have been so harsh on MJ if he died on June 25th in a prison cell? Many people lecture about a loss in perspective. I think the loss in perspective goes both ways.

Are there more important things than MJ? Yes. That does not negate the fact that Michael Jackson was important.

Michael Jackson wowed other super talents like Fred Astaire. Anyone who knows entertainment knows that MJ was one of the most incredible entertainers who ever lived. It just so happened that he was also one of the stupidest. Therefore, I will choose to lament the fact that we have lost one of the greatest entertainers who ever lived, and mourn the fact that he did not die in prison.
  • one more thing
    why is she saluting?
  • You missed the point "Character"
    to Joyce M/Blythe

I guess you took something personal to you that wasn't addressed to you.
No where did I say that you are not free to say what you want on a forum. My comments were mostly directed to Neil.

First off if you write something you know to be untrue or you know you are doing it to defame then you may be libel. Writing it on a forum or blog does not dissolve you of this. In the case of my comment it was directed at someone that was doing more than having a conversation. Even So,I know Boortz is a big boy and knows what he can say though. It was just meant to be thought provoking.

Second my point was, think what you want but show good character and refrain especially when you are so removed that you really don't know what is true or untrue. I know this is generally unheard of on forums an sadly in todays society.

    Third,as to this comment

""Do as you will but it show your character." - in your opinion. See how that works? OMG you slandered my character!!! "

How so? The quote just means that how you act reflects your character and you should act in a way that you want your character to be displayed.
You read in the content of the character displayed yourself.

Everyone gets out of hand sometimes but it is then that we need a check from others.

Unless you subscribe to the "Lord of the Flies" mentality ... then it is pile on and pile on anyone that dares to try to temper you. How dare I note that most dont know anything about what they are exposing.
  • Perspective
I heard Michael Medved put it in perspective pretty well yesterday. George Gershwin died at the age of 38, in 1937. Wrote some of the most widely recognized music of the last 100 years. Was he celebrated in this same fashion. Hardly. Different times, of course. Lesser accomplishments? Lesser talent? Lesser impact on the culture? The caller was totally clueless, stumped, and in over his head.
  • Know the constitution?
How can she say that congress knows the Constitution.I doubt that most of them have even read it. Look at their track record. They don't even read Bills before they they vote them into law!
  • Amazing Artist and Complete Perv
You know, you can think that he was both a remarkable recording artist and a complete sick puppy.

Many of you are missing Neal's point, which is that you are free to think of him as guilty, that "guilty until proven innocent" is a restriction placed on gov't, not individuals.

If a judge or jury verdict is always correct (as seems to be implied by some of you when you say he wasn't convicted), why is there an appeals process in place? Any system of justice is imperfect and I for one am glad that it is difficult for the state to put you away.
  • Brilliant, Genius?
Try not to mistake popularity or talent for intelligence. Michael Jackson was not particularly intelligent, and his talent is a matter of opinion. Talent and popularity may sometimes *correlate* with intelligence, but are not *caused* by intelligence.

If you determine “genius” by the number of records sold (say, over 100 million?), then we should conclude that “genius” also applies to the Beetles (yes, even Ringo), Elvis, Bing Crosby, Cher, Dolly Parton, and the Back Street Boys … just to name a few.

If you measure “genius” by the talent within performers, then we should include talented figures such as Brett Favre, David Copperfield, Michael Jordan, and Placido Domingo.

If you gauge “genius” by popularity, then we should include Pam Anderson, Tom Cruise, Charlie Chaplin, Steven King, John Wayne, and The Three Stooges.

If you assess “genius” by earnings, then you might actually find some degree of causation. Bill Gates, Warren Buffett and Donald Trump are considered pretty smart, and they became wealthy because of their intelligence (and hard work). However, earning your fortune through software development or business is quite different than earning money by grabbing your crotch on stage.

Just because McDonald’s serves billions and billions of burgers, that doesn’t mean Big Macs are the finest cuisine in the world. Quantity does not always equate with quality.

Don’t misunderstand … I think it is just fine to appreciate talented performers … your favorite sports team, movie start, musical group, etc. I feel the same way about Rachmaninoff that some people feel about Michael Jackson … except Rachmaninoff actually was a genius. :-)
  • double standard
Just wait until Oprah chokes to death on a turkey leg or Madonna dies from HIV. You'll see the same hero worship crap again and again.

rule of thumb: if you're a famous liberal idiot with severe mental problems, you're American royalty. If you're a conservative/normal American who has contributed loads of money to multiple charities, and who dies of old age, you're an evil Nazi.
  • Didn't Lee declare President Bush (for starters) guilty without due process?
She looks ready to go check out those flags the American astronauts planted on Mars in person, with that outfit she's wearing.

I can't wait for one of her fans to tell me how dumb I am.
  • Absurd
Can you imagine what the opinion would be regarding a man who was poor and wanted kids to sleep in his bed? If he was poor it would be frowned upon. If it wasn't a sexual "thing" according to Michael, then why did he prefer boys to accompany him? Would any of the "celebutards" allow their kids to sleep in his bed? Would Michael Jackson have allowed his kids to sleep in another man's bed?
  • Who cares?
I do not understand why people are so mad that he is getting all of this media attention in death. The man was a n extremely popular/well known entertainer. The entertainers of the world(actors, news orgs, politicians) are gathering to morn the loss... That is all.
  • If you pull the trigger....
You are probably protecting yourself or your family, or somebody you love.
  • It is a fact that...
you can be a brilliant architect or engineer and build a hundred bridges, or hospitals, or skyscrapers or whatever in your lifetime but get caught sucking c*ck one time and you will always be remembered as a c*cksucker.
  • Also...
It is not illegal, unless you get caught. The same way a tree falling in the forrest makes no sound if nobody is around to hear it.
  • That was a funny video
Michael did indeed LOVE going to orphanages in Africa.
  • To: Hater
"You're [sic] idiocy opens so many doors for me to expose your lame thought process. I love it!!!"

Excellent! When do you plan to get started? You haven't made any points yet... (chuckle)
  • Big A
Said "Acknowledging someone's musical talent and ability, and recognizing the effect and influence that he had on the planet has absolutely nothing to do with idol worship"

Your making a big deal about an ENTERTAINER! They come and they go! Yeah, he could sing and dance and love little boys and if those are important things to society as you say they are no wonder this country (world) is so F'ed up!!
  • ditto to nuynya
The same would apply to all your statements as well.

It's kinda like the OJ trial, he was found not guilty but yeah, a large percentage would say or feel however you want to phrase it, that he is guilty.

    Libelous? sue me

This is a discussion forum, we are free to say or feel anything we want. Since we all know this is NOT a court room, no one takes it seriously (if they have a brain) so there are no laws governing a conversation. It would not hold up as slander or libel.

"Do as you will but it show your character." - in your opinion. See how that works? OMG you slandered my character!!!
  • Overboard but ....
Yes , the media has gone overboard with it's coverage of Jackson. He's getting more coverage than Regan did when he died. Doesn't say much for our society. Jackson wasn't a king, Prince, leader etc. He was a very talented person who was very strange and bizarre. I Don't think he molested any children. His non-sexual attraction to children was bizarre, and hanging out with kids; having sleepovers was poor judgement on his part. It's very easy to accuse someone of molestation, and no corroboration is necessary. Jackson was a prime target. He was wealthy, lacked good judgment, and had a bullseye on him that read extortion. OJ on the other hand was clearly guilty with the mountain of evidence against him, and in that case justice wasn't served.
  • same applies to your comment
Just because you say someone is guilty does not make it so as well. Your statement are libelous. Whereas we dont know definitely if they are false we do know they are malicious in nature. Especially because of your stature.

Now if you said I feel instead of he is. That would be a different story entirely.

Do as you will but it show your character.
You or most all on either side that are commenting really dont know much about the real circumstances. You should treat your comments accordingly.
  • Sell Out?
First things first. To the other Phil, great point. Everyone is falling all over themselves trying to defend MJ and his history of "charming" little slumber parties with young children but when the Duke case came up, the black community had not already judged them, groups like the extremely racist and thuggish New Black Panther Party said that no less than a conviction would be satisfactory. When it came out that the alleged victim has lied her rear end off, not one of these groups apologized. Not one.

As for MJ, Big Africa, while I agree that musically he was a genius. Thriller isn't the all time best selling album for nothing. But before his death, I heard nary a black person...or any person talk about him or laud him for anything ever since the pedophile claims came out. In fact, one buzz topic I would hear is how MJ was a sell out to the black community. His music was straight pop. He not only changed his appearance to make himself look white, he actually lightened his skin to be white. Then he got a doner's sperm and impregnated a white woman so his children would be white. This man isn't close to being the father of those kids. And he went so far as to marry 2 white women, one of which was Elvis' daughter yet all I keep hearing now is how great he was to the black community. Funny considering that it was obvious that he was ashamed of being black. Revisionist history for you I guess.

And Stan, go away already. I'm not sure if there is a cure for BDS but please, for the love of Pete, go find one.
  • What has he done since the 80's?
MJ in the 80's showed great talent but after the 80's what did he really do? He became a freak that slept with children. The only reason he was not found guilty was because he had the money to pay off everyone to get away with it.

Now back to my original thought. In the 80's he had talent, for the last 20 years what has he done with that talent? Nothing! A man is not definded by one action and a sliver of time but by their whole life. So does he deserve all this attention - NO.

Lastly I find this very hard to say -- I finally AGREE with copyleft- MJ was a freak and that IS how he should be remebered.
  • 2003 Mugshot
    He looked dead already...
  • hollyweird vs reality
Who really projects the face of America to the world today? Is it our military? nope. How about our foreign policy and state dept.? naaa..not even close. The face of america is the face of Hollywood. Most of the world knows about America only what they see from entertainment( movies,tv,and God help us ,the internet.) If you put yourself outside this country and have only those wacked out views of America then you too would be afraid and offended at this apparently sick, morally bankrupt, prevert idolizing country. No wonder much of the world hates us, we are an offense to most decent people if you believe americans are as hollywood portrays. This is easily used to recruit warriors to battle the "great satan" from the uneducated but rightious masses of people.(yes there are people who are willing to die for their reglious beliefs, the left cannot understand that cause they have no god but themselves}The world in general does not know the"common man american" and thinks he has nothing in common with "america the vile".Micheal Jackson was a great entertainer but is he and Hollyweird the american model to the world? unfortunatly yep.america needs make over that shows the world the joe the plumber, fred the farmer, and a media that presents and praises good people not just"good" entertainment.
  • It was disgusting
He was a musical giant in his day. That was a long time ago. And he was a freak. I think the spectacle for a funeral service/memorial was disgraceful. Lottery for tickets? People were there for the show, not to pay their respects.

Ms. Jackson talked about his "giving back" to the community. And we know how stupid that expression is. He gave and gave during his life because everyone around him had their hand out. He was exploited by all those around him for his entire life.

And he was supposed to give back? How about all those looters giving back his privacy, keep his loser dad away from him and give him back his childhood.

Innocent till proven guilty does NOT apply in the court of public opinion. Nothing any of you say will change that. It's called freedom of speech.

And why is it that blacks in public can act like they are suffering or care more than anyone else?

I'm glad this crap is over. Much more important things going on in the world.
  • MJ
Shaprton's point was that before Michael Jackson, MTV would not play any music by any black artist.

The powers that be at CBS Records were willing to pull all of their songs off of MTV to get MJ's song played, which created the environment that other black artists could use to increase their audience.

If true, then MJ did for music what Jackie Robinson did for baseball and MLK did for politics.

Given that he is in the Guiness book of World Records as the music artist donating to the most charities indicates that MJ wanted to help others.

In the later years, it is possible that MJ was literally living a childhood that he never had, and there was nothing else going on.

    Did the media overplay this?

The rating books will tell that tale.

If people watched, then they didn't.

If people tuned out and read books (or played video games) then they'll suffer a loss of revenue.
  • sad people
Neal and you puppets are a sad lot, to ridicule MJ for his appearance. He had a skin condition (vitiligo) that caused his skin to lighten. He also had the resources to even out the usually spotty patches the disorder causes.

MJ stated he changed his face because he could not bear growing to resemble the figure that abused him for so many years, his father.

He was hugely successful in your precious free market, and yet you think you have the right to judge what he did with the proceeds from it?

as far as being a pedophile, i suppose the phrase
not guilty of all charges means nothing to you, Neal? being a lawyer, you'd think youd have some respect for a courts decision.

but hey, it's not like your job affords you the right to just have some dignity and not say anything. I understand you have to keep talking, regardless of whether or not what you say has any merit.
  • the Michael Jackson nonsense
The only thing I have to say is that MJ meant alot to society because he was a persistant artist when condoning interracial acceptance for all as well as doing what's right. That doesn't mean what he did was right with little boys and being hooked on drugs; rather it was the message he sent similar to The Temptations who encouraged acceptance as far as racial acceptance.
  • That is so stupid it's embarrassing,,,
"The idea that a person is innocent of a crime until he has been convicted is a complete absurdity."

OKAY, let's break out the crayons...

"No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury...nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law"
  • food for thought
Know what would be cool? If a ghoul steals Jacko's brain, and then his master transplants it into some big Frankenstein monster. That would be one scary pedophile. And then the world might go back to remembering what a sick freak he was, rather than pretending the guy didn't screw little boys.
  • Musical genius?
MJ just sang songs other people wrote for him
  • Sharpton
MJ did a lot for the black culture.

He wanted to be white, marry white women, hire white women to have babies, hang out with white women (and white young males), and raise his children as white children.

He was fascinated by the whole white race to the point of trying to be as white as possible!

Sounds like he did't like the whole black thing very much at all...
  • Black speakers
Why is it that when black "leaders" give speeches they like to repeat certain words/phrases at least three times?

P.S. I am from Houston and can tell you that this woman is a huge sack of excrement.
  • Another Govt Employee
yeah psychologists have said he had regressed to having the mind of a child. Sad. The guy needed help.
  • That Stupid Female
I record Judge Judy twice a day to watch when I get home, and it seems one was empted or pre-empted by this woman and her presentation.
I am sure I have been violated.
  • Sharp,Al
I did manage to avoid the media circus yesterday until about 7pm.when i switch over to fox news ,al shapton was on spewing more race hate.this man needs to get a life and stop making up stuff that no one believes but him.michael was agreat singer and an ok dancer.really what was so great about spinning, moonwalking and grabbing your self. i listen to his music and its good dance music.and why are his three kids white al sharpton?
  • Ben Dover....
Well like I said man. The man indeed had some serious mental problems that he needed to be take care of. Looking at the picture he may have even had that body dismorphism condition. And no I would not let him babysit my kids. I am simply acknowledging the guy's talent, his musical genious and the effect and influence he had on the world through his music, that will probably never go away. When we see a music video, or see people dancing to pop music, chances are they were influenced by Micheal Jackson. His personal life is a different story. And he needed some people around him that were not just 'yes' men.
  • Memorial
    Is it over yet?

You would have thought God had died.

Folks, this poor soul was a man. A talented, troubled man. But a man, nonetheless. Was he a pedo? Possibly. Or it could be that he was so immature he could only related to children. No matter. He is dead now. Let's move on.
  • Celebrity Worship
I agree with Big Africa. Michael was a huge musical talent. No sense arguing that. He had a positive impact on music and pop culture...for a while. Heck, I think I even have Thriller. He did, however, have some freaky lifestyle habits, some of which were less than role-model quality. Look back and remember him for his music or not. None the less, that public display out in California was ridiculous! Give me a break! If I was tying to get home during that display and they blocked off an already packed freeway, I'd have been pi$$ed !! And California has the nerve to ask for donations to pay the cops overtime for that??? As for all those crying about Michael changing thier lives..ok. Get a grip. I would set your life standards a bit higher if I were you...it's just music. It's not like he paid your mortgage or bills....that's Obama's job.
  • @ anonymous
Or that MJ himself was desperate to become white...

I wonder if Jamie Fox realizes that...
  • Copy, Big A
I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who thinks he's a freak. Look at his picture and tell me you don't agree.

No being a freak is not a crime. I never said it was, but that is what I will always remember first and foremost when I hear his name, not the music he created. Did he molest children? I don't know, but the stigma will always be there too. He did admit to sleeping with children not his own, and he saw nothing wrong with this.

Yes, he had some really good songs and sold an a$$ load of records. Big deal. We'll see how history treats him. It's being kind now, because he just died. Over the next year or two there will be a lot of his songs being re-done by other artists. After that I think he'll just be back to Wacko Jacko.
  • Best and simplest Quote on this subject
"Having millions of dollars you can use to pay off families and victims does NOT make you innocent."

    Fits perfectly, Mr. Boortz.
  • Stanley
and then we have Stanley GayBull....I can't help but to laugh every time he posts something, because it reminds me of those kids that drooled on the window of the short yellow bus when I was growing up...God I love your comments Stanley!!!! HAHAHAHA
  • Copytwit
Oh you are the gift that keeps on giving. You're idiocy opens so many doors for me to expose your lame thought process. I love it!!! (snicker)
  • proven guilty?
the duke lacrosse players where guilty and should have been executed before trial according to the black community as i recall.
  • Thank God
I'm glad we've finally moved past the news coverage of a "Half-Black Celebrity with Zombie Followers". Oh wait, no we haven't. He's arriving to the Summit in Italy today....

I would like to disagree with the Neal on his discussion on murder. This is an example of using the correct wording. If you pull the trigger you are always and forever a KILLER. What kind of killer you are is for courts to decide. You can be convicted of "man slaughter" in varing degrees, "murder" also in varying degrees, it may have been in self defense. Now as individuals we may not agree with the ruling but we have to live with it. I may believe one committed murder but those tags are given to people who are CONVICTED of a crime. Killer vs. murderer depends on the courts not your viewpoint.

Now MJ had the money to play the game and I believe he was guilty of at least being a perv. Now the parents of those affected are just as guilty for taking the money and walking away instead of prosecuting him. The weakest case against him is the only one that made it to court.

Great talent in his younger to middle ages but not fond of his later works. "Off the Wall" and "Thriller" albums were awesome.
  • Orphanages in Namibia?
When she mentioned Michael visiting Orphanages in Namibia, did anyone else feel a slight shudder?
  • Alfred Sharpton - reverend of hate.
Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson have become insignificant ever since Obama has gotten elected. Now they are desperately trying to get back in the spotlight. Alfred Sharpton will not rest until he can somehow blame Michael Jackson's death on some Caucasian person.

Funny how he forgets to mention that Michael Jackson's music was mainly bought by white folks.
  • You can move
If you dont like the government standard of innocent til proven guilty then republicans can move to a different country. I am sure the Bush-funded Iraq allows fair trials. hahahaha
  • Ben Dover....
A large part of the planet seems to disagree with you. Sorry. Like I said huff and puff and type your fingers down to the 2nd bloody knuckle, it won't make ANY difference that the world will remember his musical talent. Just the way it is. End of story.
  • Lets Not Forget
I agree with sentiment that exists out there that says this has been overdone. Many people in the media, conservative mostly, are constantly bringing up this fact up. I would like to point out that these same people where beside themselves when Princess Diana passed. Either way I do not care because this has no affect on my life. I would just like to see some consistency.
  • guys...
Acknowledging someone's musical talent and ability, and recognizing the effect and influence that he had on the planet has absolutely nothing to do with idol worship. Sorry.
  • Odd coincidence
Neal keeps repeating his contempt and disgust for "all the attention paid to Michael Jackson"...

...and yet, Neal keeps WRITING about Michael Jackson. Over and over and over.

    Huh!

Oh, and Ben? Show me where being a "freak" is a crime. Heck, America is a land of freaks, and proud of it!
  • Donna
I appreciate your family's service in Iraq, however I have to analyze this comment; "my family members who are in Iraq fighting so idiots like this can continue their idol worship"

If there was really a threat of terrorists coming into America, the border would be shut down. It has not been shut down and people are streaming into America unchecked, so we can deduce then that the Federal Government does not have America's protection as first priority no?
  • Big Africa
He's a FREAK and ALWAYS will be a FREAK!

    End of story.
  • Celebutard Worship
Yep folks, while it is a tragedy for his family that Michael Jackson died, there is way too much celebutard worship in this country.

Think about it though. That leftist Stalin said that if you want to take control of America, do it through the Media, Entertainment, and Education.

Last night with the fascination of Michael Jackson's memorial, those Statists in Government are ever so happy that Americans are paying more attention to Michael Jackson instead of the power grabs that the Statists in government are doing to take away our freedom.

It's all about Bread and Circuses. Bread and Circuses.
  • Three alleged criminals…

    OJ innocent of murder
    MJ innocent of [pick one]

    Clarence Thomas GUILTY of joking
  • Innocent Until Proven Guilty
"I got butt-f####d at Neverland Ranch and all I got was this lousy T-shirt"
  • Pandering
The only genuine sentiment seen in clips were those of his daughter and Brooke Shields. Sharpton and Jackson-Lee were there to further their "careers" along the lines of "never let a crisis go to waste."
  • You're simply incorrect on this one Boortz...
Jackson will always be remembered for being a musical genius. Period. Type your fingers down to the 2nd knuckle and you will not change that unarguable fact. Did the man have some serious mental problems that he needed to take care of? You bet. Would I let him babysit my kids? Probably not. But it is simply impossible to deny the man's musical gift, his obvious talent and what he did for American music. And its not just American culture that celebrated him, as we all saw yesterday, it was the entire planet. Nothing you can say Boortz is EVER,EVER,EVER going to counter that. Sorry, just the way it is.Just the reality of it.
  • Innocent Until Proven Guilty
I believe this is one of the most pathetic displays I have witnessed in quite some time. I am one of those that believes he was a pedophile and child molester. I stopped and had my own moment of silence for my family members who are in Iraq fighting so idiots like this can continue their idol worship. I am certain that the House was not unanimous on this. If this makes me a racist, then so be it. The people of this country need to get a grip and get back to business!
