IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE IN GLOBAL WARMING ...

... your views are not welcome. That is the way that the global warming crowd likes to play the game: simply do not invite "deniers" to the ballpark.

That leads me to this story. Next December the UN is going to have a major climate change conference in Copenhagen. So leading up to the event, a host of smaller events are going to take place around the world. One of those events is a meeting of the Polar Bear Specialist Group. The purpose? To scare the tar out of the world into believing that the polar bears are dying off at alarming rates due to man-made global warming. We know this to be entirely untrue ... but that is beside the point for the purposes of this UN meeting.

So naturally, if you are a scientist who does not believe in man-made global warming, you are not going to be invited to this little polar bear conference ... even if you are a world-renown specialist on polar bears. That leads me to Dr. Mitchell Taylor. He has been researching polar bears in Canada and the Arctic Circle for 30 years. But there's one problem, Dr. Taylor insists that polar bear populations are actually higher than they were 30 years ago. He also does not buy into this man-made global warming scam.

So Dr. Taylor has obtained funding to attend the Polar Bear Specialist Group meeting. Then his funding was taken away by members of the group because his views on global warming don't fit into the rest grand global warming scheme.

The chairman, Dr. Andy Derocher, explained in an email that his rejection had nothing to do with his undoubted expertise on polar bears but "it was the position you've taken on global warming that brought opposition." Dr. Taylor was also told that his views running "counter to human-induced climate change are extremely unhelpful." Unhelpful? Yeah .. unhelpful to those who seek to destroy free markets with global warming scares. Are we going to wake up to this nonsense before its too late?

On a similar note, Alan Carlin - the EPA scientist whose study critical of global warming was silenced - has finally spoken up.

What others are saying

  • Dear Lynda,
You extract your information from some obscure blog site and question Booker's and/or the Telegraph's credibility? Now that's borderline hysterical.
  • Polar bear researcher NOT barred... just really bad journalist
The article in the Telegraph was completely one-sided... even borderline libel, since the information from Taylor and printed by the journalist is not accurate. The long and short is that Taylor was not 'barred' and there was never any email sent to Taylor telling him his views weren't welcome at the conference. Taylor didn't even qualify to be there, as space is limited to those researchers who are currently working in the field. Taylor is retired. The person who is now working in his old position for the Nunavut govt did attend the conference, so the views of that govt were aptly represented.
Derocher was never even asked by the Telegraph if the information was correct (he was never even 'Taylor's student' as the Telegraph reports)

when you taking off in a plane you see how vast this world can be.i think environment change can happen in a city with lots of manmade activity but as far as affecting the WHOLE PLAMN DANET! i dont think so.we are so concentrated as a population and i think thats where most of the so called science is gathered but there is NOTHING for miles and miles on this earth.well, not nothing.a whole lot of beauty.
.mostly water.how can we possibly control this place.the earth has a way of doing its own thing with weather.have you ever seen a tornadoe?nothing we can do about it and yet a tornadoe is tiny in comparison to the earth....its mind boggling..sure we can live responsibly by not being wasteful.if you kill an animal for food and you dont eat it,the rest will not go to waste if you leave it out,it returns to the earth.the earth knows what to do.its incredible what we think we can do.whats next?slowing down the expansion of the universe?its mans fault its expanding at such an ALARMING rate
  • One more of those pesky denialists...
Polar bear expert barred by global warmists, by Christopher Booker, UK Telegraph, 27 Jun 2009

"Dr Mitchell Taylor has been researching the status and management of polar bears in Canada and around the Arctic Circle for 30 years, as both an academic and a government employee. More than once since 2006 he has made headlines by insisting that polar bear numbers, far from decreasing, are much higher than they were 30 years ago. Of the 19 different bear populations, almost all are increasing or at optimum levels, only two have for local reasons modestly declined."

    Education:
Ph.D., Economics, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA

  • Carlin
He took data and analyzed. That's what econimists are very good at doing!!!
  • Numbers! Efficiency of reflected roofing.
I asked a question on Yahoo Answers, How do I explain the value of reflective roofing to Radio Talk people, I got this back:

    .
It's pretty simple to explain. Where I live, (SW US -- we get a lot of sun here), the sun applies an average of somewhere near 5kWh of energy to every square meter of roof every day. So a black 100 square meter roof (not unreasonable for a house) will absorb something like 500kWh of energy from the sun every day. Thats the equivalent of running 20 1000w appliances all day every day. A new coat of bright white paint can reflect up to 80% of this incident energy. It's the first step of a good insulation layer but a highly effective one.
    .
So, get off your fat American Butts, and take a look at your shingles. You can either do the good thing, and replace a worn out roof with the good stuff, or you can use crap materials and spend your "savings" on beer. (Don't tell your wives the cheap roof will need replacing in seven years.)
  • Science
Neal, Can you tell me the difference between global warming science and evolution science?
  • I had my hands on the roof!
I wanted to scream at the radio today! Neal took several callers who TALKED about the economics and politics of roofing materials.
    .
I actually did something about it. I painted the Tin roofing over half my house white, using basement leakstop paint, (cheap). As a result, I can place my bare hands on the roof on the sunniest of days. This is not possible on the asphalt shingle section of the roof.THE LOW ABSORBAND ROOF TRICK WORKS!
    .
Some caller got through and suggested that reflected heat from a light color roof might not make it back into outer space. That is irrelevant. Cheap asphalt shingles absorb all the heat from the Sun, heat that often needs to be air conditioned away. What a WASTE.
    .
White roofs are popular in other countries, Bermuda, I believe is loaded with them. They make sense; so why not do them here?
    .
Belinda, did you replace your damaged roof with reflective shingles? Well, if you didn't, you made a terrible mistake. Don't do it again!
  • Polor Bears and EPA Scientist
I'm sorry Commoner I have to ask how you came to the conclusion that "Your polar bear expert suggests that bear populations have gone up in one remote area but admitted that polar bear populations have dropped in the three other areas that he studied" If you would go back to read it with an open mind you will find it said "Of the 19 different bear populations, almost all are increasing or at optimum levels, only two have for local reasons modestly declined.Just a pinch different than your perspective I guess.

"On a similar note, Alan Carlin - the EPA scientist whose study critical of global warming was silenced"

He is not a scientist unless you consider the study of economics a science.

Your polar bear expert suggests that bear populations have gone up in one remote area but admitted that polar bear populations have dropped in the three other areas that he studied.

Not exactly ringing endorsements for the denialism crowd.

  • No point in even discussing with liberals.
They just sing "la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la" with both fingers planted firmly in their ears while you try to explain that this "global warming" is nothing more than a hoax.

What's funny is if their dear leader Obama announced tomorrow he no longer believed in it, they'd follow suit like the sheep they are. They only know how to follow orders and march lockstep like the dimocrap tools they are.
  • New Global Warming Currancy
Chris said: "The Fed can't just keep printing money, eventually our paper money will look like Zimbabwe's." Well on the bright side of things our trade deficit will finally improve since we will not be able to afford anything made anywhere. Maybe Neil’s next book should be CAP & TRADE FOR DUMMIES (AND OTHERS IN CONGRESS). I personally am looking for a book on how to bater better. To quote Wiki: “Barter usually replaces money as the method of exchange in times of monetary crisis, when the currency is unstable and devalued by hyperinflation.” Right on the mark with that statement.

  • To stepcousin
Beat me to it. The man made Global Warming conspiracy will fade away. Think about it this way...if we give them all this power that they covet will they give it up once it is clear that Global Warming is not a threat and never was. The answer...HELL NO. They will just keep it and claim that they succeeded in saving the planet. I remember a while back these same guys were claiming that we were already too late and Global Warming was out of control and that we have no chance to save the fate of the world. Yeah that is just complete BULL SH*T! This is a power grab pure and simple. I don't know about you, but I don't want these wackos having that kind of power over the rest of the world. These kooks should ALWAYS lose elections. They are so wrong on issues it is not even funny anymore.
  • Umm...copyleft
So, are you suggesting that a Dr. who has studied polar bears in the arctic region for over 30 years is on par with "flat earthers"; "Moon hoaxers", et.al.? Even though the meeting is ABOUT polar bears, and the chairman of the meeting acknowledges his expertise in the field.

Yes, copyleft, in one way your right. Galileo was thought of as a kook too.
  • Curiously copy left....
...what do you think of black people who believe that Obama is outright destroying everything about this country?
  • flat earth...
Yep...its true, the current day Gorebal Warmists are pretty much like the flat earthists of the past. In accordance with those who believed the earth was flat, it is heresy to suggest that things may be different from what they thought. I just hate that Chairman
Teleprompter is going to base legislation on and force us at gunpoint to pay for junk science.
  • Legitimate science
Where do you think the funding for these so called scientists that promote this global warming hoax is coming from, Copy? And why would they cut off their noses to spite their face? You can't convince me that they're just playing along, waving their so called credentials around just so they can make a name for themselves. There's garbage in all fields including science.

    What's my point?

    Follow the money.

After all, it's only your freedom that's at stake.
  • copyleft
It's a coincidence that you mention the Flat-Earth Society, considering their legacy will be similar to yours (global warming panic monkeys).
  • No Neal, we're not waking up
"Are we going to wake up to this nonsense before its too late?" No. Unfortunately, it seems rather clear at this point that we're not going to wake up. It's a sad thing to say, but at this point, I'm beginning to think we'd be better served forming a contingency plan. I don't want to give up, but it's beginning to look hopeless. I fear if the Cap-n-Tax and "Healthcare" reform bills are passed, it will be. Seriously, with that kind of additional spending coming out of Washington added to the national debt, is there enough money to sustain a country and leave her citizens with any of theirs? The Fed can't just keep printing money, eventually our paper money will look like Zimbabwe's.
  • Anyone know the story behind this?
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Weq8ys-YCY

I just watched that video last night and wanted to get thoughts on it. I used to live in North Carolina where this was filmed and I never knew there was such a thing as a Mass Evacuation Bus. Does anyone know for instance how many of these there actually are out there?
  • Shocking
I understand that the Flat-Earth Society wasn't invited to the latest meeting of the Planetary Society, either. And no alien-abduction nuts were included in SETI's last meeting. And creationists have been turned away from the UK's molecular biology conference!

What IS the world of science coming to, when only legitimate science is discussed? Next thing you know, they'll be teaching it in our schools.... (snicker)
  • This guy sums it up well
An article from a guest columnist U.S. Rep. Bill Posey (R-RockledgeFl)in the June 25th edition of the TC Palm newspaper.

Congress is considering legislation that has the potential to raise your energy bills significantly, along with the price of just about everything you buy.

Estimates on how much the 900-page Waxman-Markey Cap and Trade National Energy Tax legislation could cost vary, but estimates range between $750 and $3,100 per family per year. Washington typically low balls the cost of things, thinking they can get them into law before Americans know the true cost. This bill includes budget gimmicks hiding the full cost.

The plan is for the federal government to limit carbon emissions. The government will auction carbon emission permits to energy producers, refineries and factories (usually through speculators) so they can emit more carbon. Many credits are also given away to special-interest groups. The cost will then be passed onto consumers. The president’s budget included $646 billion in “cap and trade” revenue.

The idea is to purposely increase the cost of energy from fossil fuels like natural gas, coal or petroleum, about 85 percent of electricity produced. The price of everything you buy will go up, even food, because there will be a hidden national energy tax built into the price of everything.

One leading Democrat senator told the Washington Post: “This is the greatest revenue generating (tax) proposal of our time.” In other words, it’s all about taking more money away from everyday Americans so politicians can spend your money on politician’s favorite programs.

Estimates are this bill will have a negligible effect on the global environment. Carbon emissions from U.S. competitors in China, India and the rest of the developing world are exempt from these caps and they will continue to increase. China is already the world’s largest carbon emitter.

This costly national energy tax will put U.S. products at a competitive disadvantage and further erode our ability to compete with the rest the world. The result will be the loss of millions of jobs as we will see more jobs move to countries that will not impose these caps. It’s no wonder China has essentially endorsed this legislation. With a U.S. unemployment rate of 9.4 percent, it’s estimated that this tax will cost Americans 2.5 million more jobs.

I’m opposed to this plan and am working to bring a little common sense to the discussion. I will vote against this tax because it is not good for the U.S. worker, small businesses, seniors living on fixed incomes, and parents struggling to raise a family. Washington doesn’t need any more of your money; it needs to control spending. Europe adopted a similar plan several years ago and it forced jobs to leave Europe and caused electricity prices to skyrocket. It’s all pain and no gain.

Posey, R-Rockledge, represents the northern Treasure Coast and elsewhere in the U.S. House.
  • liberals are liars
This is nothing new. Liberals are patently dishonest and have no convictions whatsoever. They do whatever it takes to gain more power/control, regardless of consequence.

Ahmadinejad threatens to wipe Israel off the map and calls America "the great satan". He then has the gall to say he wants nuclear technology for peaceful purposes. EVERYBODY knows he's a liar, yet Obama says Iran has a right to peaceful nuclear energy. By the way, if they can have peaceful nuclear energy, why can't we?
  • Government punishment
I was employed by a federal agency at a fairly senior level, (GS-15). There was an office in DC referred to as the "Turkey Farm". Incompetent GS-13s through SES employees as well as competent ones who made "unhelpful reports" were sent to the "Turkey Farm". They were assigned meaningless tasks. The supervisor of that establishment would shuffle the whistleblowers and "turkeys" around and assign exactly the same jobs to a new person and wait very patiently for results. The average salary of these "Turkey Farm" people was well over $100,000 a year and at my last count, there were some 30 people assigned there.

It is nearly impossible for a government employee to be fired. Perhaps it is better that real incompetents are put where they can do little damage but it is disheartening to the competent people who have been assigned there by way of reprisal. Our tax dollars at work!

As an aisde, readers might wish to discover how many discrimination complaints have been filed by federal employees. If sheer numbers are an indication, federal employment is a more discriminatory work environment than Mississippi in 1960. Many of these people have filed ten or more grievances and had them overruled by administrative law judges. They continue to use this blackmail to assure their continued employment and promotions because they get free representation whether they win or lose. I don't approve of discriminatory practices in employment because they are stupid. What I dislike is people playing the ethnicity card repeatedly with no consequences.

  • The Global Warming Geniuses
Global Warming is an act of political genius...it allows the left in this country to blame the weather on the right. It allows the socialists to demand action from the government to help them opppose capitalism and it has a built in cheerleading section in the public schools and the University where year after year they have churned out the completely clueless at all levels of society. We are approaching the end game. We now have a President who hates the United States and intends to destroy it economically and socially and the people have now allowed him a super majority in the Congress so that he cannot be opposed by the minority. We are now aligned with Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez and Daniel Ortega. We have taken the side of those who want to destroy the west starting with Israel and have stood by while the protest in Iran was shut down. North Korea is now free to put nukes on missiles, and the most powerful country in the world is China. I don't think there is a writer talented enough to have written a doomsday scenario this diabolical. Next steps....new gas taxes, tax on your healthcare benefit, cap and trade raising the cost of everything, and a new stimulus bill of around a trillion dollars because the first one didn't work...and what will we do about it? Nothing.
  • This is TREASON

I have yet had time to respond to Nelson and Martinez in hopes that I can change their outlook on this scam before it goes to the next cycle. All were threatened with my assurances that I would do everything possible to make sure they didn't get elected for another term if they voted in favor of it.

As with each and every previous global meeting on "climate change" or "global warming" or whatever the phrase of the day is, this one coming up will end in only one way:

It happens at every one of these get-togethers, so I'm betting it'll happen at this one ... again.

  • Randy...
I totally understand where you are coming from...yes islamic fascists want to kill westerners, but the west has been interfering in these people's internal affairs since world war I and they have not liked it since back then. Just as Americans would not like them to come over here and try to enforce shari'a law on people. It would cause Americans to react...possibly violently. Al Queda is using military presence in the middle east as a recruitment tool.No wonder they are killing people over there. At the same time, what I am saying is, ANY nation that were under threat should secure their border. China did it with the Great Wall when they were under threat from the invading Mongols...America is yet to secure the border, obviously then the threat to the mainland must not be that bad or Bush and Obama just didn't/don't really care. Open border = no threat to the mainland. It can't be both ways.
  • Listen folks, you can fight this thing!
I stopped this hoax dead in its tracks with my kids. I have two kids. They both go to public (government) schools. I'm not a dead beat parent; I listen to my kids and am involved in their lives. When they came home from school talking about the hoax of man made global warming I sat down with them and we did some research.
To make a long story short, my kids do not believe in man made global warming. So, the bottom line here is folks, if you have children be sure to listen to them and show them the truth. If every responsible parent did this, then these global warming loons will be irrelevant.
  • Technically, he's an economis, not a scientist
I still agree with him. Global Warming is a scam, but I want to make sure our side sticks with the truth.
  • The state of science
Science is dying the same death that journalism has already suffered. Ben Stein's documentary "Expelled" shows just how unscientific the science establishment is now. Curiosity has been replaced by orthodoxy.
  • Redleader is correct...
Neal needs to get on board cause the train is leaving here. We need to call this what it is. Tyranny. We haved allowed some pretty despicable people run our lives for far too long. Soon we will no longer we able to simply count on someone to do something about thing. We will have to all come together and with one voice say no to what they are doing. This is all building toward something. I see it every day. It is not business as usual. Things are truly falling apart now. I fear we will not be able to save this country. The unfortunate truth is that this country may have to fail for us to be able to get back on the right path. It seems like now things are moving at a rate that noone could have predicted and there are alot of very confused people out there. This truly is turning into the Summer of Hell.
  • There's a new pope in town
Sorry Neal. Sorry Pope Benedict. There's a new church and a new pope in town. We are witnessing what the Spanish witnessed during The Inquisition. Every new church needs its faithful and how do you win converts? By persecuting the heretics. Pope Owl Gore is sending his Cardinals out to spread the word and burn those that deny his most holy word, An Undeniable Truth. Out Dark Ages are just starting. We are witnessing the fall of a nation at the hands of rampant religious fanaticism. So, genuflect to Tennessee, grab your ankles, and kiss your methane producing hole good bye.
  • Unhelpful?
Wasn't Rearden told he was being "unhelpful" when he refused to help the government cover up their threatened confiscation of metal he had refused to sell to the Science Institute?

I hate that expression "unhelpful". Haven't finished reading Atlas shrugged, but I did get that out of it.

The EPA guy that had his report suppressed is making the rounds, look for him and his version of what is happening. Doubt you'll see him on MSM, but it's getting COLDER!! Polar bears will LOVE that.

  • An event of our own
Perhaps those of us that are sick of this global warming nonsense should have a little event of out own leading up to the UN meeting...
  • Keep the threat and anxiety high....
Global warming is absolute crap. Its simply a forged crisis that is overblown and is being used to make people feel threatened and insecure so that they give up their freedoms to the Government. You could sort of say the same for the whole 'war on terror' thing...sure there are indeed islamic fascists that want the world under shari'a law, however if the threat to the mainland were bad then the Mexican/American border would be closed with the illegals being encouraged to head home. The same with the this 'economic crisis'....the government knows it is printing too much money and manufacturing a crisis so they can encourage people to enlarge the government....its truly amazing. Always remember one Rahm Emanuel's words 'Never let a good crisis go to waste'...unfortunately Neal himself is still buying into this whole war on terror/police the planet stuff.
