Interesting playback of MSNBC bashing a 14 year old girl at a Sarah Palin book signing. This girl handled herself well, especially for her age. If she had all day to think up trick questions for this reporter as the reporter did for her, it would have been no contest. I would have one question for that reporter: Is the reason you hate Sarah Palin because of the extreme liberal left wing bias of yourself and your entire network?

Neither are liberal, they're just not as extreme right wing as Fox. MSNBC isn't nearly as stupid, either, and CNN is a little better on that front.

Neal's refrain, that Fox News isn't biased except explicit opinion shows, is only true if you consider ever Fox News show an opinion show. Which isn't far from reality. Or is it not an opinion show when the anchor repeats the Republican talking points in a neutral tone?

Fox News is essentially a reality show, which about as much relation to reality. Note that both are popular. Fox News screams about alarmist nonsense and vapid celebrity "news" to try to appeal to the stupidest people and avoids even a hint of actual journalism or fact checking. It's half "what should you be afraid of today", and half made up nonsense. There is no serious coverage of what is going in the world.

Worst of all the whole thing is organized around ignorant people voicing their opinions without any factual support. This is rebranded as common sense populism.

Look at the top story on Fox News as of this moment. It's "Michael's ex declares... 'I want my children'". Glad I know that. Not that the other stations are much better about the celebrity crap, but they don't report it quite as stupidly. Michael Jackson should have gotten maybe 10 minutes of coverage, and only because he was especially influential, and only his music is really noteworthy.

The whole "liberal media" nonsense has crushed our media. Everything has to be oriented towards the lowest common denominator to not be "elitist", focused on things that people are supposed to care about by the right wing rather than what really matters, and following the Republican rules of political correctness. International, environmental, civil rights, and general welfare and safety issues are for the birds since all we really need to know about is the LATEST TERRORIST THREAT FROM GAY MARRIAGE THAT HATES AMERICA AND CHILDREN AND BURNS FLAGS.

Maybe Shep Smith and the Special Report guys will continue to actually make a good product. Maybe Beck will continue to be a great source of information that you get nowhere else, and will take over old man O'Reilly's time slot (one could hope).

Media Analyst, puhlease! There was a study the other day, I'll see if I can find a link, but it said that conservatives were more likely to view multiple sources for their information than liberals. If it weren't for conservatives checking out the opposition, they wouldn't have ANY viewers.

Moderates and liberals divide their viewing among a number of different options: CNN, MSNBC, BBC, and the broadcast networks. Also, moderates and liberals enjoy rather than condemn American pop culture, so they might tune in to a movie, American Idol or one of the similar talent shows, or a sitcom or drama, or perhaps a science or nature documentary.
