A gun will never ever hurt anyone without human intervention. I'm not really sure that I think this guy was lucky to survive. Perhaps it would have been better for him to have departed from the human gene pool for being so stupid. Rifles are designed to be firmly seated in your shoulder before firing, if you follow the directions on any machine it is safe to use. There is some personal responsibility required in this country.

Gun Control should be about getting the gun under control and aim at the target, not about political power grabs.

I agree with Stan. At least this guy was lucky enough to survive his gun malfunction. Usually guns aren't quite so forgiving. The point is, guns are machines and things always go wrong with machines, that's why a machine should never be a right. We need the government to protect us from shoddy products and that will always mean the government must have the final say on whether or not something is safe to own. Like Whoopi said the other day on the View: "If guns weren't deadly then crooks would hold up banks with rubber bands" Profound stuff. Or maybe you guys would rather live in a world where guns run around randomly killing people?
