GLOBAL WARMING AND THE EVIL RICH

With international climate talks set to start this week, politicians around the world are looking for ways to get their hands on two things - power and money - all in the name of global warming. It just so happens that a new study has been released by the National Academy of Sciences which suggests that emissions targets should not be set for countries. They should be set for people!

Now here is how that would work. First you figure out how much carbon dioxide our atmosphere can handle. To do this, of course, you would use the same worthless phony computer models these hack scientists and the anti-capitalist crowd have been using for years to develop their fraudulent global warming narrative. You then take the total amount of CO2 our atmosphere can handle and divide it by the number of people in the world. You then have the carbon footprint that every person should be allowed to leave. You then find a way to either seize or extort money from the people who produce more than their fair share of greenhouse gasses.

You do see where this is going, don't you? Since the fall of the Soviet Union and world communism the anti-capitalist crowd has been looking for another platform from which they could carry on their attacks against economic liberty and the free enterprise system. They found that platform in the environmental movement. The platform was environmentalism; the tactic was the global warming hoax and the weapon was, and is attacks on the world's achievers. The thought process here is that evil rich people use more CO2 because all of their fancy yachts and private jets, big houses and fossil-fueled cars ... therefore they would probably emit more than their "fair share" of CO2 and be forced to buy carbon credits to offset their emissions. It doesn't matter what country you are from, only that you are richer than the average citizen of the world.

One of the study's authors, Shoibal Chakravarty of the Princeton Environment Institute, says that this isn't necessarily a limousine-and-yacht tax on the rich, but he did not rule it out: "We are not by any means proposing that. If some country finds a way of doing that, it's great."

This is a direct attack to the heart of America. It's a way for the left to bring America down to the level of the rest of the world. Don't laugh this off. Would you have thought one year ago that our government would now own General Motors and Citigroup, and that nationalization of our banks was imminent? Besides ... and I say this with the highest level of love for my fellow Americans ... we are now a country of government-educated idiots that can't see the dangers facing us. We're going to lose this great 200-year-plus experiment in economic liberty and freedom based on the rule of law rather than the rule of man because too many Americans got lazy and started looking for the easy way out. I suppose there will be someone around to write a final history of the great American experience when this grand adventure is over. I just hope they have the guts or the understanding to place the blame where it lies ... the idiotic idea of turning our most precious assets, our children, over to the government - the political class - to be educated. The government education establishment in this country has delivered to us exactly what it proposed ... generations of government educated myrmidons who are fit to be good employees and government subjects, and not much more.

Something else for you to think about: When you take the world's population as a whole, pretty much anyone living in the United States is considered to be "rich." Remember, the average American defined as living in poverty has a standard of living that exceeds the average European. This new "get the rich" global warming idea is aimed at accomplishing one thing ... bringing the hated United States down.

What others are saying

  • Obama quote....
"What kind of future is Russia going to have? What kind of future are Russia and America going to have together? What world order will replace the Cold War?"

    -Chairman Obama

Why would Obama be talking about ANY world order whatsoever...why is he asking "How is America as an individual nation going to get back to the rule of law which is the constitution?"
  • a new name for Gorebal Warmists...
I say we start calling them what they are....Sun Cycle Deniers. Since they deny the plain and simple fact that the sun goes through natural heating and cooling cycles.
  • celebutards
Funny how Hollywood (wealthy celebutards) helped engineer and perpetuate this myth... and now it looks like they may well be the ones who are targeted! hahaha! What dummies. That's the law of unintended consequences at work people. For every intended action there is a contrary action, and it might not be the one that was intended or hoped for...
  • They will tax your every breath
When you breath you exhale CO2 soon these whacko's will tax you based on that also and when you exceed your lifetime CO2 limit they will end your existence.
  • now that I've stopped laughing
Butt/JRC you two are not right. Not left! But not right either.
  • commands to jackasses (mules)
    GEE IS LEFT
    HAW IS RIGHT

NOTE TO PELOSI HAW HAW DAMMIT HAW
  • typo...........................
    chaff=chafe......ooops!
    sorry............
  • you are all right butt......................................
my idea is better than any of yours......

stop the politicians from outgassing co2............
  • does that harness chaff.................................
    Chris Bogardus........

if you will be so glad when PETROL runs out then I will be glad to harness you up and give ya a taste of the whip to keep you movin' dat plow.

    in a straight line pleeze........

    haw you sum bitch.....
  • Here's a thought
Why don't we get all the scientists together and tell them don't come outta that room till you all agree and can explain it and know what to do about it.

Until then, let's hold off making rash changes to the way we do things. Obvious pollution sure, no problem. This whole carbon offset crap! No way.
  • Global Warming
It’s all tied to the Ozone levels. Solar winds are creating geomagnetic storms which are increasing the winds over the Southern Ocean, which are stirring up the deep waters, thereby dredging up and releasing the CO2 trapped in these waters. Any questions people? (No I did not qualify for a Federal grant since I did not mention it is man creating global warming.) Oh, by the way this happens every few millenniums or so.
  • Global Warming & Evil Rich
Neal understands Global Warming and Tax Credits! Now if we could get him to substitute the words "Looters from the Military-Industrial Complex for: Successful People, then we could make a liberal out of him.
    .
Now why, during the 90s, didn't we invest in wind power, solar, insulation, and hybrid cars; instead of McMansions? We wouldn't be in the mess we find ourselves in if we hadn't been such gluttons. I, for one, will be glad when the petrol runs out and we have to get behind a mule and plow!
  • Not a Scientist
You're right. There is a consensus that the climate is changing. There is also a consensus that is in a constant state of change and always has been and probably always will be.

It's the "due to human influences" part that there is no consensus on. I don't have to be a scientist to know that politicians trying to bamboozle us in the name of science.
  • Not a scientist...
    try www.petitionproject.org.
believe you want about man's contribution to global warming...it may possibly be true...but if it is it is because there are way too many of us. I tend to believe that the sun effects the temperature of the planet. the CO2 released by man just helps the plants grow. I guess if we clean up the the CO2 then all of us will starve.
  • Global warming "fixed" by government.
    Random things:

Toxic cleanups: You will find the majority of sites on the Superfund list are or were government owned.

The idea that companies with private land would just dump their chemicals anywhere they can is rather rare (at least in the Northwest). Some of the chemicals used are so expensive, they prefer to keep them and recycle them. It’s hard to get investors and workers to be involved in a company that would do something unethical like knowingly dump toxic substances into the environment.

Bruce Chase (former co-worker of mine): “When I ran a nursery, we used green houses. We pumped CO2 into the green houses. You could actually look at the CO2 monitor and watch the level drop when the sun was shining.”
He ran a nursery for more than a decade, but the imported flowers from South America (subsidized by their respective government) were impossible to compete against.

Troposphere: no change in temperature over 30 years.
Hydrosphere/Ocean: has not been rising in temperature since 2003 according to the Argo buoys. Why does it matter? The ocean has far less volume, but it’s mass (1.4 × 1021kg) is much larger than the atmosphere (5.148×1018 kg). Yeah it’s 270 times the mass, but who needs physics (stupid thermodynamics).
If Al Gore were right about global warming, then you can heat the water of an indoor pool by heating the air and window manufacturers should use CO2/methane, etc in between window panels instead of noble gases like argon.

Self sufficiency is for suckers, trust in government, not yourself. So trust a human with the title called ‘government’. Any other human should be ignored. Guess I am a sucker.

    Good day all.
  • There goes the bean industry
where is this vast majority of scientists? I saw some 31,000 scientist say they deny global warming is caused by man
  • Oh, and regarding Junk Science..
of man-made global warming, more and more climate scientists are starting to question the validity of the entire debate. You think we could at least get accurate HURRICANE forecasting down before taking on something WAY more complex like man's effect vs. nature's effect on global temperatures - of which averages have fallen for the last 10 years, mind you.
  • Not A Scientist
Um, I couldn't quickly find one. But I did find 650. Now to save time, they are all in one report. And these are scientists in many different fields all of which do have valuable input.

    enjoy

  • Yeah, sure Stan Gable...
"Like I said yesterday, if republicans didnt sit mad all day coming close to breaking blood vessels and see the real purpose it would be easier. It isnt political and it isnt about whether global warming exists. It is about cleaning up the environment. Anyone who has seen litigation involving what toxic dumps can do to humans should be for helping the environment."

Oh, like you mindless hysteric libtards don't constantly stay mad? Please, you mental midget. Now maybe you haven't read much on this bill, but it has about as much to do with cleaning up the environment as Al Gore flying around the globe preaching his junk science of man-made global warming. Exactly what part of raising costs of needles for hospitals, raising costs of just about every product with petroleum in it (clue: MOST of what is sold in this nation) do you not understand, you mindless ignoranus libtard?
  • Everybody here has a Ph.D. in Meteorology and Climatology
Every time Neal gets all of you all up in arms about what he claims is the false crisis of climate change, dozens of people start posting comments in which they are way out of their league.

If you have a Ph.D. in meteorology or climatology, I'll be happy to listen to your rants about the "false science" of global warming, so long as they are well-articulated and backed by analysis. If, on the other hand, you are some conservative partisan hack with a poli sci degree from Liberty University, I really don't care what you have to say about climate change.

You may just as well be debating the merits of alternative methods in heart bypass surgery.

The fact is the vast majority of scientists who study climate change have arrived at a consensus that the earth's climate is changing (warming in most places, but resulting changes in ocean currents may in fact cause localized areas of cooling), and a lot of it is due to human influences.

I dearly wish climate change were not happening. But wishing something to be or not to be does not make it so. Luckily I'll be dead in 50 years so quite frankly the selfish part of me does not care.
  • Funny thing is
when we start taxing the rich and they all move..... will the emission cuts follow them?

Even China is all up in arms over this one!
  • Finally...
... they have just come out and told the truth. This is all about taking from the rich and giving .... well to anyone other than those deemed "rich".
  • I''m waiting for the coming exodus of the evil rich
Where will all the american "evil" rich flee to? My guess is....Europe. How ironic that we've come full-circle and become more socialist than the Europeans.

Time to renew my european passport...
  • if we can stop........................
    just a question....

if we stop the politicians from outgassing co2 will that help????????????

    just ax'in..........

    oh! smack here ya go...ouch!
  • Ivan sorry your wrong
Ever wonder where did Gorbachov (sp?) go? When he left communist Russian he become the major advocate of environmental causes. Go read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Cross_International. Neal is right...
  • Stan
Global warming has nothing to do with "toxic trash dumps". It has to do on weather CO2. CO2 is NOT a pollutant.
  • Deranged leftists (a redundancy)
These people want us all to live like Medieval peasants. They want us to live in yurts and scrape a living from the dirt while they, the enlightened ones, live in their castles and call themselves good for putting their fantasy eco-topia ahead of the human race.
  • Toxic Dumps
Stan, try and stay relevant! This is not about toxic dumps, and it's not about the environment. Carbon offsets have nothing to due with toxic watersheds. It is political and you are a kool-aid drinker.
  • Read Bills Before Voting
Other than the fact the science and politics have been woven into the same tapestry, I cannot say what hasn't already been said. So I'll leave you with this link, http://www.redplanetcartoons.com/
  • 1 gallon
Lets say a person is only allowed to use a gallon of gas a day.i live 6 miles from work.If i drove a hummer to and from work, that would be about 1 gallon. If my bed wetting liberal lives 15 miles from work,he uses 1 gallon back and forth. If the bed wetter loves the planet so much, move closer to work
  • Regression and Progression
Poverty and dirt or pollution, if you will, intersect. Wealth and dir, or pollution, if you will, do not. Why ? Rich people live how and where they choose. Since poor people do not have their own money to effect their living choice they live where no one else wishes to. It is a misconception that with enough political power we can all live in "belle aire". But that is what this is al about using political power in lieu of wealth.

  • Not fear mongoring
If you want to talk about fear mongoring, that is what the left is doing with all this doom and gloom about the environment when even the scientists can't agree on whether it's warming, cooling, cause and if there is anything mankind can do about it.

THAT is fear mongoring at it's worst, and in the process, tearing down what little bit of economy we have left. Oops I guess that is the only part of this conversation the left ever remembers, our saying the economy will be destroyed.

And it's not FAR right, it's just the right. Pretty much all conservatives would rather let the scientists straighten out their stories before crying "the sky is falling, the sky is falling".
  • Global warming and the evil rich
This approach is wrong for many reasons. One is the products and services the evil rich create, are delivered, inexpensively, to the poor, the middle class and everyone else. The demand is from them, not the other way around. The users should be taxed, not the providers.
  • One thing I know for sure...
Boortz is wrong about his idea that environmentalism is the new face of Russian Communinism. The truth is that environmentalism is a very very good thing only it is being used by some VERY corrupt individuals to push their agendas forward. It is a money making scheme to them pure and simple. Eventually these corrupt elites will use environmental and health care legislation to enslave the US population. We will be slaves to our tax code. If you think it is bad now just imagine how bad it will be under this new plan. There is a war on for your mind. They are winning.
  • The "Science" of global warming...
is not science. How can any thinking person consider this claptrap to be science. Hey Commoner, define Science for me. If you have to look it up, that's OK, I'll wait. Then apply that definition to global warming. The 2 are mutually exclusive terms. This has nothing to do with the global planetary environment. Indeed even the poorest Americans are wealthy by world standards. Neal is right, this is nothing more than an attempt to hamstring capitalism and freedom. Government &$@%ing education!
  • Please
    Commoner Writes:
"You would have to be a far right nut job to believe that failed commie hippies are responsible for launching a worldwide global and scientific conspiracy to bring about the fall of capitalism"

You mental midget, first of all, peopel like you have never answered the basic questions, is this not just another cycle the earth is going through and what is the normal temp of the earth? AL BORE still refuses to debate the issue and every answer to solving this so called problem has the same theme, tax people more!

I'm just one guy, could give a damn about parties. I see so much BS out the on bothside and the fact that people are buying is so funny.
  • Carbon footprint
So is that the amount you can use each year or is it a one time print? Poor people drive older cars that leave a bigger footprint than us riches;ie cash chuckers, that buy the new cars that have a technology in them to leave a smaller one. I will assume this is a yearly bill that will be paid to someone who can remove my footprint? what if I am sick one year and dont leave a footprint? can I be reemburst for what will surely be called the assumtion of your yearly footprint as per last years record? this is such crap so at what point do we leave too big a print and the world explodes? that would take care of the national debt. Oopps I just gave the democrates a new idea darn.
  • Yesterday
Like I said yesterday, if republicans didnt sit mad all day coming close to breaking blood vessels and see the real purpose it would be easier. It isnt political and it isnt about whether global warming exists. It is about cleaning up the environment. Anyone who has seen litigation involving what toxic dumps can do to humans should be for helping the environment.
  • they're not recyclin'..............................
    J.T. Cornpone...........

hey bubba some of that carbon iz missin'......they fired sum rockets off and sent it to mars....

ain't amerikins good peeple? we help them lil' green fella's even if we can't spare the carbon. owlgore had a hand in that...........he gave 'em some offsets................
  • Also...
Just thought I would remind you that it is a guarantee that at some point in the near future Obama WILL push Congress to vote on ICC (Internation Criminal Court)legislation. They will vote in favor of it. This will allow the ICC to override our Constitution. This is how Eric Holder will force people to give up their guns. Once this goes through Obama and company will be able to forward gun owner information to the ICC. They will then have jurisdiction to come and arrest you if you do not hand over your firearms. It will be completely legal.
  • If addressing climate change is an "anti-rich" conspiracy
. . . then why are so many environmental activists from the upper and upper middle class? It's not usually the trailer trash or the "inner city residents" (the groups you might expect to "envy the rich") who are making noise about global warming.

If this were really about some kind of backdoor way of sticking it to the "evil rich", then the demographics of the movement would look a lot different.

Virtually all alleged conspiracies amount to nothing. Alleged conspiracies say the most about the screwballs who promote their existence to the gullible on the scantiest of evidence.
  • Enviromentalism does not = communism
Once again a prominent conservative equates enviromentalism to communism. Is it any wonder that conservatives have no power and dwindling influence.
Believing that we have a moral responsibility to protect the environment is quite a bit different than being a communist.
This comment is an example of how the far right is driving away moderate conservatives and independents. You would have to be a far right nut job to believe that failed commie hippies are responsible for launching a worldwide global and scientific conspiracy to bring about the fall of capitalism and Western Civilization. Talk about fear mongering and rhetoric.
  • The Problem
This will never pass, of course, because it would mean taxing people like Algore and Leonardo Dicaprio. Can't have that.

While I accept the science of global warming, this is a terrible way to deal with it. Reducing global carbon emissions means technological breakthroughs, which requires -- wait for it -- rich people and big corporations to put up the capital. Trying to get everyone down to some global standard is just going to make us all poor.

"Remember, the average American defined as living in poverty has a standard of living that exceeds the average European."

I see the point you are making Neal, but try not to engage in hyperbole. For 1 person, the US poverty line is around $10k. For a family of three, it's $18k (6 per person). With the exception of some Balkan states and former Soviet clients, the Europeans are way above that.
  • Is not this planet's ecology a closed system?
Isn't carbon a base element. If so, all the carbon that's ever been here is here - no new carbon is being made, none is destroyed. It's just changing location and "shape".

From the Paul Simon song "The Boxer":
'til a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest ...

    lie, lie, lie
lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie
    lie, lie, lie!
  • What people don't realize...
is that there actually is a group out there that is evil and rich that is trying to get this Crap and Tax bill through. All it is is a way to force not only the US, but eventually force the entire planet to pay Cap and Trade taxes. Once Cap and Trade goes through there will be a huge shift in Global Warming/Climate Change legislation. Cap and Trade is just the beginning. Just wait until the Kyoto Accord II comes down the pipe. When that happens everything I have said about the NWO will be complete. Once they have this they have won. The New World Order cannot survive without this new legislation. That is why we are seeing Congress handle this bill the way they are. Bilderberg is being very cautious how they proceed with Cap and Trade. EVERYTHING hinges on this. That is why I am positive it will pass. The NWO has not come this far for Cap and Trade to not pass. They will MAKE it pass by any means neccessary. Those of you that somehow think it won't pass are fooling yourselves. Sure the Senators that pass it may not be voted in next time around, but they are willing to take that chance because they have been assured that this legislation will change everything. Believe it or not this is the game changer right here. This basically takes all the wind out of the sails of all the Republican politicians that get donations from energy companies. They will be paying Democrats for more favorable treatment once this goes through. The Republican party will literally be dead in the water once this bill goes through. Think I am joking? Think again.
  • And I thought national government's job...
...was to protect us from entities outside the country trying to attack us! Instead, our government is colluding with them, because the UN has shown them the money. That is an "offer you can't refuse". Thus the reason to not grant the government regulatory power over every facet of our being. I guess it's too late.
  • Start with Al Gore!
Between Al Gore and our own President, the flying around these guys do must leave a carbon footprint that makes Sasquatch green with envy( no pun intended, but I'll take it...). Teleconferencing isn't a viable alternative to galavanting about? We have Ambassadors and Madame Hillary to do our bidding. So why do these guys get a free pass when it comes to carbon emissions? Is it the old 'We'll look the other way for you but we're gonna nail those other folks'...wink and a nod? Maybe Mr. Oblivious will weigh in for us. Take it away Gavin...
  • Community breakdown
Let's carry this plan a little further. Break down the distribution of the tax on CO2 to the community's ability to handle CO2 emmissions. If a local area has the trees and grass and other environmental resources to balance their local CO2 emissions, their tax is negated. If they have more trees and such, they get a tax refund. If they do not have the trees and grass such as New York City, Boston, Siberia, etc. they have to pay more tax.

That's sure to get the bedwetters environmentally-friendly thongs in a bunch.
  • They aren't accounting for cow farts
Well after all, every living thing on this planet either emits or consumes Carbon Dioxide. Should farmers have to count their livestock? Should park and game officials go out and count all the wild animals? What about pets in people's households. What about aquatic wildlife?

These global warming nuts need to stop worrying about everyone else's life and just get one of their own.
