Let's go International ... to Honduras. You know that the government of Honduras threw out their president. It seems that he wanted to conduct an illegal referendum that would have allowed him to avoid constitutional term limits. You probably don't know, but under the Honduran constitution, Zelaya's actions constituted treason. Oddly enough, or perhaps not so oddly, our own Barack Obama is solidly behind the deposed president. So are Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez. Rather good company, don't you think?

Anyway .. there are reports that the results of that illegal referendum are now known! How could the results be known when the referendum never took place? Well, that would be because the results of the non-existent referendum were found on Zelaya's computer! And guess what? It was a landslide for Zelaya's idea of eliminating term limits? That's right! On the deposed president's computer were the results of an election that never took place. Obama is real good at choosing friends, don't you think?

Who woulda thunk it?

What others are saying

  • The 1776 Constitution??
    @butt neckid

Just out of curiosity, which Constitution of 1776 in Philly are you talking about? Or is the Great Articles of Confederation Experiment of 1781 just a strange dream I had?
  • Treason ain't what it used to be
    Sensationalism trumps facts.

It is true that the Honduran Constitution prohibits any attempt to alter the presidential term limits. Zelaya proposed to conduct a public opinion poll which asked the following question:

Do you agree that in the general elections of November 2009 a fourth ballot box should be installed to decide whether to convene a National Constitutional Assembly that would approve a political Constitution?

In other words, this treasonous pig Zelaya was ousted for proposing a poll to authorize a referendum on the November ballot that (if successful) would authorize a Constitutional Assembly to alter the Constitution. This would appear on the November ballot, mind you. Zelaya's term ends in January.

It's also worth noting that the military bundled Zelaya on a jet and flew him off to Costa Rica. So what, you ask? Well, it just so happens that exiling a Honduran citizen from the country is also forbidden under the Honduran constitution.

Maybe Zelaya is Chavez's BFF. Fine. Oppose him to your heart's content. That doesn't justify the actions of the Honduras military in removing him from office.
  • Speaking of Jimmy Carter
He endorsed the same type "referendum" when Hugo pulled it a few years back.
  • git your head out of uranus
com'on folks.....you use the word constitution like it means sumpin'...... what it means today is that a buch of guys hangin' out in philly in 1776 wasted their time.....

    am I wrong????

    oh yeah???

    prove it!!!!
  • whoops
why he's he been vilified should be why HASN'T he's he been vilified...
  • Jimmy Carter
Where is Jimmy Carter, champion of the democratic process, in this?

Suppose Netanyahu did what Zelaya did. Jimmy would be hysterical in his outrage.
  • Axeman
Herman was trying to deflect attention from this issue by saying we should be worrying about the economy. It was a lame attempt.

    Herman,

Unlike liberals, conservatives can walk and chew gum at the same time.
  • neal is lying to you
neals states "referendum that would have allowed him to avoid constitutional term limits".
In reality Hondurans would simply have been asked whether they wanted to vote in the November general elections on a constituent assembly to rewrite the 1982 Constitution. If this actually came about, the new Constitution might well allow presidential reelection, but it's not easy to see how any constituent assembly could finish its work in time to keep Zelaya in office after his term expires on January 27, 2010.

and what about Columbia? you haven't heard about it? well, Columbia's president want to rewrite the nations constitution and throw out the term limits.

President Álvaro Uribe of Columbia is taking a page from chavez's book. why he's he been vilified by the press in the country or the leaders of this country? oh, that's right. he's part of the american empire. he can do the same things that leaders who aren't part of our empire, and get away with it.

    that's the US for ya
  • who'll it be????????
just wundering.....who is gonna run against osamabama in 2016?????
  • HONDURAS TREASON
It sounds to me like they have a branch of ACORN working down there. No wonder Obama is mad. His secrets are coming out.
  • Zelaya, Chavez, and Roosevelt
    this is doublethink here.

  • Future
Obama's support of this may be a sign of his feelings on removing the 22nd ammendment limiting presidential terms to two. They'll just call it a crisis and he'll have to run again. just like FDR. of course we won't see this if he gets re-elected. we'll see
  • *Sigh*
According to the Honduran constitution, he should indeed have been deposed. I agree with that. But to find this "smoking gun"? Come on, you gotta be kidding me. There's a very good chance this was planted just to gain international support to improve the legitimacy of Honduras's overthrow.

It's also possible it was truly on there and the ex-presidente didn't cover his tracks. Until you get some kind of independent audit you won't know.

Don't let logic get in the way of your parade though. Carry on Neil.
  • The report
    http://www.thenewamerican.com/index.php/world-mainmenu-26/north-america-mainmenu-36/1471

Plus fifteen million blogs have listed it, but I'll be listening to see if it makes it to the main stream news HA!
  • Herman
What does your post have to do with anything regarding the situation in Honduras?

Let's try to at least be in the same hemisphere as the topic shall we? If you'd like to discuss the budget, deficit, or something related to money - I'm sure that the KOSclowns would be willing to entertain you.
  • Herman
I'm guessing that not being able to see this Honduras thing for what it is and voting for Obama weren't the only two bone-headed things you've done in your life, were they?

Our president sides with Chavez and Castro against a CLEARLY legal and democratic change of power in a sovereign country, and your retort is "but but but republicans..."

    Bloody brilliant.
  • Dumbe question
What does the finding of referendum results on Zelaya's computer have to do with poll results showing "whatever the buyer of the poll results wants them to show" in this country?
  • honduras
now thats change that is unbelievable!!! obama our nations destroyer!!
  • It's Booshes fault
I saw Darth Cheney sneaking around the presidential palace in Tegucigalpa. He must have planted the computer.

But, what the hell does cancelling our debt have to do with the news in Honduras?
  • Republicans are not concerned?
Yep, you got it right Herman…take another sip of your Kool-Aid. Why do you think the Republicans are not worried about the American economy? Just because they disagree with the current course of massive Federal spending and related deficits does not indicate that they are not concerned with the economy.
  • do you think its true?
do you believe that the results of the non-existent referendum were found on Zelaya's computer? if you do, then i guess you believed that the magic bullet killed JFK.
  • Honduras News
Is this the next country that republicans would like to cancel their debt rather than worry about the American economy? Just wondering
  • ELSEWHERE IN THE NUZE
I bet Zelaya had a long discussion with AlGore and Al Franken at some point.
  • Honduran ACORN!
Sounds like birds of a feather... I guess Mr. Zelaya should apply for a position with ACORN. He certainly has all the traits of a good communist... oops, I mean community organizer.
  • Who woulda thunk it
Almost sounds like ACORN was down there, eh?
