CAP-AND-TAX WON'T DO ANYTHING FOR GLOBAL WARMING

Now this is really incredible.

You do know, don't you, that this cap-and-trade monstrosity which passed through the house like ___ thru a goose two weeks ago, is the largest tax increase on the American people in the history of this Republic? Well, what are we going to get from this massive increase in the cost of living for Americans?

This comes from Republican Senator James Inhofe's office. Earlier this week there was a hearing in the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. Sounds dull. But don't count on the media to bring you any of the highlights. Here's something you probably haven't heard. EPA administrator Lisa Jackson - that's right, the official Obama-appointed environmental boss of us -- said that US cap-and-trade schemes would have zero effect on global emissions levels. Just great.

Yes, you read that correctly. EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson said, "I believe the central parts of the [EPA] chart are that U.S. action alone will not impact world CO2 levels." Well, someone had to toe the administration line, so when Obama's Energy Secretary, Steven Chu, was shown the EPA charts he simply said that he disagrees. Good. That settles it now, doesn't it? The EPA Administrator says that our wonderful cap-and-tax bill won't make any difference in global temperatures, and the Energy Secretary disagrees. So everything is just fine. Let the tax increase roll on.

    I thought this was interesting.

It's really just a matters of physics and then - what does that mean? I like that this guy says, it's science - of course it's not perfect. But, it shows us possibilities and we can determine how likely they are.

    Worth watching if you can...
  • BOHICA
Right, so the US only cap and tax won't impact global warming, this is actually GOOD news to the Obama administration, because now they have scientific evidence to support the need to impose this tax on imports as well, so we can fork out so much more
  • Tesla and bills
If you all didn't know, it's Telsa's birthday today...thanks google home page. If you want free energy that through out the world look at what tesla invented over 100 years ago with his Wardenclyffe Tower that emits electricy through the air, no need for powerlines and outlets.

That technology is just now starting to make a comeback with thin surfaces that you can place electronics on and they will recharge.

You see, Obama had so many industries to pay back for him getting elected that he couldn't do it all in one bill, but he has to do it fast. Seriously, why couldn't these things wait a year or two. What the hell is he going to do the next three years, travel the world? I wouldn't doubt he said things to the Pope to try to change the Pope's mind to get him on Obamas side. Then all is lost.

    Payout meter:

    Bailout (banks and Cars)

Stimulis bill (districts for congress and senate)

Health bill (drug companies, and others in that field)

cap and trade bill (energy co's that have unions...and bankrupt the coal industry as he promised to. And set up a way to get his hands on oil somehow so he truly can be a King Hussein)

So what bill are we going to get next??? Seriously, it's just a matter of time.

...just think what "bill" would come up (not clintion, lol) if the porn industry put him in office..or orifice...
  • american knowhow vs france???
If all this global warming, climate change, death by co2, alternative energy crises is so serious then why the hell isn't nuclear even on the table. Is some green enviromental midget gonna tell me that WE don't have money or the technology to solve the real or imagined "problems" with nuclear but countries like France does? If thats the case then our education system REALLY SUCKS BIGTIME. So lets import some french scientist to show us how they do it, hell they export their nuke-tech to ever 3rd world dictator for a price so Obama should get in line with his hand out(he'd fit right in).I'm serious WTF gives?
  • It's been going on much longer than that, Red.
This looks pretty whacked out at first, but as you read and compare.....
    http://www.hourofthetime.com/majestyt.htm
  • co2
co2 causing warming? if anything, ice studies and other info is showing that the inverse is true...warming causes increased co2 levels.
  • speled wrong???

  • Next time you are in your airplane?
Look down. Does the earth look dirty? Do you see trees and fields, or rooftops and asphalt?
  • Global Warming
I just spent an hour looking for nonpartisan information on climate change. It is very hard to find.

Oh sure, you can find tons of partisan stuff, and the govt. sites all have their little slide shows, but where does one find:
    1) Maps of the Artic and Antartic from ~1900 to present

    2) Global temperature data from non-govt sites

    3) Maps of animal migration patterns.

    ?
In addition, after one has this information, how does one make any conclusions? It's hard.

I, for one, wish that the talking heads would GET OUT OF THE SPOTLIGHT AND LET THE CLIMATOLOGISTS GIVE US RAW INFORMATION.
  • pish posh
If you ask me, they're both enviro-wackos. When it comes to the climate, I believe I'll have to wait for an expert like Al Gore to weigh in on this issue.

    Right, Belinda?
  • belief?
if you believe the government is the answer, you have no questions.
  • @ Commoner
Hey Commoner, I can understand your love for the planet and wanting to keep it "healthy". But this isn't about cutting down a tree in Zimbabwe, nor is it about trying to change from fossil fuel consumption to more natural sources of energy. It's about money. Let me say that again, because I have a feeling that the tree you're tied to is suffocating your little brain of oxygen...

    M O N E Y !!!

This isn't about saving anything, it's about a taxation on the people using a myth as its' proof to implement said taxation.

I'm all for going to solar or wind power. Nothing wrong with it. But I'll be damned if I'm going to be on the receiving end of the largest taxation this country has EVER seen on the basis of something that IS NOT REAL!!!!!!!
  • @Commoner
If you believe this cap & trade bill will end polluting, you need to read up. It isn't even it's stated goal. In fact, it allows businesses with offsets to keep polluting. Run that by your planet and see if it thinks this is a good bill.
  • @By Rockhound @ 07/10/09 11:05:18 AM
And I'm tired of you begging, so how about you stop doing that? Or better yet, if you think what you have to say is so important and what others have to say is not, call out folks on both sides and maybe you won't be such an annoying little punk. There are plenty of idiots who agree with you who post retarded things. Guess that's ok though, eh Rockhead?
  • in denial
Commoner is still denying that the scientific community is NOT in agreement on climate change, global warming, whatever you want to call it.

Middle East and their oil? Isn't it your environmentalists that are keeping us from using our own resources? Yep.

We already have the EPA that can go after those few that are indeed pumping crap into the air or spilling into water. We don't need a whole new bureaucracy to practice unproven science.
  • CAP-AND-TAX WON'T DO ANYTHING FOR GLOBAL WARMING
Save the environment. Save the environment.
    Nuclear Power!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want a "noocleer paarreed" truck!
    Problem??????
  • jist lookin' fo' a job.........
po' lisa!! she be lookin' fo' work next week.......

Commoner....tell us how you really feel.....let go of that tree!!!!!!!!
  • whine
But why, Mommy? I want to keep polluting the environment. I want you to keep me safe from foreign invaders, build me roads and infastructure but please let me keep polluting. I promise all the _____ I pump into the atmosphere is really good for it. The plants like it...well they will until I get that last tree chopped down for profit...the crazies in the Middle East have promised that they will keep pumping cheap oil forever...and if they don't we have millions of acres that we can destroy right here in the USA. I promise that you won't regret it. This way of life can still be saved, but only if my smoke stack is allowed to operate at peak _____ levels.
  • No Surprise
Forget the fact that global warming is a leftist fantasy and for laughs we'll throw in the fact that neither China or India is going to do diddly squat on their end, this cap and trade is nothing more than a money grab. Obama and his cast of useless idiots want us to become Cuba where you have 2 classes of people: The Party Elites and the proletariat. Oh, they're not going to touch your current salary so the brain dead idiots won't think anything is happening but they're going to tax us all into the poorhouse. As The Beatles said in their song Taxman, "It's 1 for you, 19 for me."

And Stan. I'm tired of begging you. Please, just once, add something intelligent to the conversation. Just once. But f you insist on that idiocy let me answer you by saying that in a way you're right. The Tea Parties are as successful as all of those war protests your side wasted time over.
  • lets not forget...
...that Bush increased the inflation tax by printing money out of thin air. Chairman Obama has already increased the inflation tax and now he wants to pass junk science legislation for the sun cycle denier Gorebal Warming cult out there.Don't forget folks....AMNESTY IS COMING...overnight America will see 12 million new 'citizens' added to its entitlement programs and the programs are already broke. How long before it sinks in for most Americans that there IS no 'war on terror' or 'drugs' or 'poverty' or any of that other sound byte nonsense. Iraq seems to be mainly a distraction. There seems to be only an undeclared war on the American taxpayer and his/her individual liberties, and really that's about it. I have no choice but think that the Federal Govt is TRYING to destroy America, and has been since around 2001/2002. The first red flag was the Bush's Patriot Act.
  • cap and tax
How many times do we have to say it? This is just a means for the gov't to raise money to pay for their stupid entitlement programs and put money in their pockets.
  • Attack on Coal/electricity
The power companies that burn coal for production of electricty are in the process of upgrading their plants to emit mostly steam (and a strange by product... drywall).

This is no suprise to the industry and it is a good thing unless you actually like acid rain.

Ga power won't be buying too many carbon credits as they are side stepping the issue. I know because I helped build the upgrades.
  • J Hansen on Cap and Trade

  • Scary
This whole cap & tax scheme is just scary. I was born in the prosperous 80's, grew up in the rolling 90's, and in the ealry 2000's did pretty well making good money while in college from only tips from wealthy, capitalist business people (Enough to buy a new corvette at 19 and pay for college). Now under Obama (and yes Bush's 2nd act)it appears that the good times are going to be taxed and spent out of existence forever. Good-bye first-world status and hello "second" world.

"A benefit once bestowed cannot easily be wothdrawn" - James Q WILSON
  • Cap and Tax
The only people supporting Cap and Tax are those who truly hate Capatalism and free markets. Basically, the Statists.

You really think these people give a rip about the environment? Even the statist environmentalists say this bill will not do anything appreciable to help the environment.

It is the biggest across-the-board tax hike ever leavied on the people of the US. That's it.
  • Brain is gonna explode
I hope the rest of the world reads about this disagreement. Maybe they'll stop and think. No reason to destroy the economy of the entire world, just cause we are stupid enough to allow this to go through.

    Stan: tea parties? What?
  • Cap & Trade
    Another example of UNILATERAL CAPITULATION!
  • WTF?!?!
All I can say is call The Congress and make them fear for their jobs and pray that 2010/2012 comes quickly so that we can wake up from this nightmare!
  • like ___ thru a goose
The difference between this cap/trade bill going through the House and ___ going through a goose is that the goose at least started with something useful then turned it into ____ but the House had ____ from the start and passed it anyway.
  • Cap & tax
This bill is about money, power, and control. Global warming, cooling, whatever is only the feel good excuse to achieve their goals while the American idol generation continues their worship of our Hugo Chavez wannabe president. Same thing goes for healthcare, TARP, bailouts, etc.
  • Thats it...
I'm now convinced the Dems really have lose their minds.
  • TO: Copy “PhD climatologist” left
Warning: the information you’re about to read is considered taboo in the liberal world and you may be burned at the stake for even reading such material, it is considered Blasphemy by even considering reading the mutable of articles. The wrath of the Owl Gore zombies may strike you down.

The link is from John Coleman, the man that started the weather channel, but in your eyes, he may not be qualified to make statements you disagree with. http://www.kusi.com/weather/colemanscorner
so copyleft, PhD, go ahead and take a gander at the articles, we all anticipate you rebuttal with repeated talking points and bumper sticker statements

Suggested reading: “The Amazing Story Behind the Global Warming Scam”, and articles from the link “Global Warming Links”
You’ll find this nice little statement: “The percentage of the atmosphere that is CO2 remains tiny, about 3.8 hundredths of one percent by volume and 41 hundredths of one percent by weight. And, by the way, only a fraction of that fraction is from mankind’s use of fossil fuels. The best estimate is that atmospheric CO2 is 75 percent natural and 25 percent the result of civilization.”

Using the liberal logic (oxymoron) about C02 amounts, if you weigh 180 pounds and gain 8 ounces, you will be in dire straits and may need emergency medical care, but the manmade weight gain would be 2 ounces.

    happy reading
  • Tea Party???
Seems like these tea parties are really effective.
  • Actually...
It will make a huge difference, Neal. The Democrats will break their arms patting themselves on the back over how they stood strong just before and election year and passed 'important legislation' that will save the Polar Bears! Ackkk!!! Plehhh!!! Sorry, I was coughing up a hairball. Got anything that doesn't taste like blubber or raw fish in the fridge?
  • sham
    we're being shammed.

As part of the deal to reduce greenhouse gases that cause dangerous climate change, major polluters can now buy carbon credits that allow them to pay someone else to reduce emissions instead of cutting their own pollution.

  • tax and cap bull*$*$
Steven Chu has his head somewhere the sun doesn't shine, Lisa Jackson is right, the US impact won't affect the global warming unless India, China, and the rest of the world cleans up its act.
  • Of course...
Cap and Trade will have no effect on Global Warming. Global Warming is a 100% scam and Cap and Trade is how they plan to collect on that scam. This is the only way our elites will be able to pay for this New World Order they are creating. Why are we not talking about this?

The Pope is talking about it. He issued an encyclical talking about the New World Order. This is SERIOUS! I do not understand why you are not talking about this Boortz. It makes no sense.

  • Cap and Trade
This is nothing more than a tax/cash generating scheme. I do wonder though, how much will be sent to 3rd world countries out of this collection.
  • Cap-and Tax
So...atmospherically speaking, if Obama would shut his mouth for a while, CO2 levels would decrease more than if he enacts Cap N Tax.

  • If an American's 'carbon footprint' is around 20 times anybody else's in the world...
...and crippling our economy won't make any difference, it won't make any difference if the rest of the world is as stupid as we are and follow suit. Most aren't that stupid.

Not only will cap and tax be the biggest tax increase in history, it will be the biggest racket.

People forget that the USA's higher resource consumption is matched by our higher productivity, and the benefits from it are global.
  • The Inmates Are Running The Asylum
This admission that cap and tax won't change anything presupposes that reducing the CO2 output of the human race would affect the weather in any meaningful, measurable way. IT WOULDN'T. Obama and the rest of the G8 decreed that the world's temperature won't increase by more than 2 degrees centigrade. What arrogance and conceit!
