WHAT DO YOU SAY, MR. PRESIDENT?

Yesterday the protests in Iran turned deadly. Pro-government militia opened fire on protestors in Tehran killing one man and wounding others. That really makes you believe that this election was open and honest, doesn't it?

In the meantime ... what is our President saying? Has he really taken a side in this? You either support Ahmadinejad and tell the world that you believe his election was valid, or you express your doubts and thrown some moral support to the people of Iran who are protesting. So, PrezBO, which way is it? Then, on the other hand, you can just sit around and say nothing. That seems to be the tact. Obama's silence on the situation in Iran has been deafening. All we can get from the White House is the fact that the United States is "deeply troubled."

Deeply troubled. Oh .. you mean like Americans are deeply troubled about your spending? Like Americans are deeply troubled that you're not running Government Motors? Oh .... I see.

Well, Mr. President, when you feel like you can take a principled stand on this one just let us know.

What others are saying

  • Wait...
so we should be taking sides in this? Is this what Henry Clay meant when he said that America does not go abroad looking for monsters to slay? Does that mean we should invite the opinion of, say, Russia in our elections? I thought Neal was, y'know, not a big fan of this global family mentality where countries are expected to bow to pressure from other countries.
  • Lack of diversity
I wonder if the libs equate these people with the recent tea parties?
I don't see many black people for some reason. I think the congressional black caucus, acorn, wright, sharpton, and jackson better get on this right away!
Now I'll get back to readying my lawsuit when I apply for the volleyball scholership at the all chinese, jewish, left handed, deaf school next year.
  • IRAN
Let them all draw sides and fight it out. The less of them the better.
  • #IranElection
I don't want Obama to come out and support either side. But, he does need to come out and condemn the violence that is being perpertrated (sp?) on the protesters. Go to twitter and search #IranElection to see videos and pictures posted by Iran insiders.
  • Stanley Gable
Oh Stanley, get real. You know you're excited about Ahmadenijad being re-elected. You loved him and would kiss his feet if you had the chance.
  • RE: what I find strange...
    >Liberals could not believe that George
    >W. Bush actually won the presidential
    >election in 2000, and just knew it was
    >a product of fraud. But they say they
    >believe Ahmadinejad is the rightful
    >winner of the election in Iran.

These same people also believe Al Franken won the election in Minnesota, so no surprise there.
  • Now Red!
I would never call you anti-American. Even Hillary said it was American to disagree with government.

Plus I don't think we need to get involved in Iran's election, neither candidate is worth the effort. The religious goons that run Iran handpicked both and they will decide who wins and what the country's policy will be.

And with Obama's record of apology every where in the world, who is gonna listen to him anyway?

And there's nothing wrong with Fox. Certainly better than ABC/GE/Immelt.
  • Georgia..
Thanks for bringing up Georgia T-shirt doctor...another shining example of bizarre, failed non-workable American foreign policy. Now which one of the Fox sound byte patriots in here will call me anti-American.
  • What is Next
He is doing some-thing. Adding notes in his play-book. When 2012 comes around and you all have King Barry he will respond the same way. Barry will have an easier time quashing any unrest here. Since this is a nation of cowards. All followers will receive an extra portion of rice and a double size of grape kool-aid, then return to your huts and be glad that today is not your day to report at the work camp.
  • Deeply Troubled
I am still deeply troubled that Reagan gave arms to the Iranians.
  • what that smell.........................
do I smell an american revolution brewing????????
  • The Bright Side
Thank heaven Jimmy Carter wasn't there to sign off on the election.
  • georgia
    the republic, that is.
there were riots there from the opposition too. the republic of georgia has a record of rights abuses for its citizens.
why haven't we watched this on our news? because our government likes the republic of georgia. who cares that the leader of the country, Saakashvili, has been monopolizing power since the 2003 "Rose Revolution".
    iran: bad. georgia: good.

  • Iran...
hasn't the U.S intervened in the internal affiars of middle eastern countries enough in the past? Besides would Iran trust what America says considering America previously tried to overthrow their government? And is now trying to police their weapon making despite America having the same type of weapons. And I mean really, is Obama going to preach democracy while America gives billions in "foreign aid" to middle eastern oppressive dictators and leaders enforcing shari'a law on people? Don't you think the average person would see the obvious irony in that Neal? Lets wake it up this morning fellow conservatives. Neal seems to maybe be easing down that Roman empire Republican road and straying from conservatism again.
  • muslims in iran.................
well I am thinking that b'cuz there are so many muslims there in iran that our muslim prezidunce has been told to re read his koran and pray an xtra 2 times. you know b'cuz it' the religion of pieces and luv to bomb.

I would rather osamabama the dumbass sit this out. the guy in charge has gotten an investigation started and we should wait until the heads quit rolling and the body parts have drained of blood.

years ago I would have agreed with sarge, now I think we should wait and deal with the survivors.
  • Just maybe
It is best, I believe at this time, that Obumbler should keep his yap shut. He's already pissed off the Brits.... again, we're losing face world wide at a breakneck pace and we're on the brink of collapse thanks to Mr. Hopeychange. Actually, I think he should just shut the hell up altogether until he's gone.
  • what I find strange...
is the liberal thought process. Liberals could not believe that George W. Bush actually won the presidential election in 2000, and just knew it was a product of fraud. But they say they believe Ahmadinejad is the rightful winner of the election in Iran. Add this to those e-mailed lists of "you know you're a liberal when..."
  • Iran's Election
While I dislike (and FEAR) our President, for once, I agree with him. It is more prudent to wait, then to say something now, that WILL be used as propaganda by one side or the other
  • Iran Election
While I dislike and FEAR the President, for once, I agree with him. We need to wait and see, anything we do now will be used as proaganda by one side or the other.
  • My Thoughts
We should have nuked them back in 1980 and all this would never have happened.
  • "protests in Iran turned deadly"
ACORN was in charge of counting votes?
    Figures.
  • Iran
Well,Obozo soiled his drawers yet again yesterday trying to address the fraud that took place in Iran and had to put on a fresh pair...now that's "change we can believe in".
  • hmm...I thought you knew
He's not saying anything because he doesn't want those people protesting to be used as pawns. Showing explicit support would align the US with protests and allow the mullahs to make easy hay of them.

Better to stand back, support the overall idea of elections, and let them set the message themselves.

Obama's handling of this has, so far, been praised because of this.

I thought you all paid attention.
  • Hypocrital Liberals
Liberals, like Copyleft, are quick do whatever it takes to force anyone that makes a buck help them out in every way possible whether deserved or not.....but when it comes to anyone in trouble in another country...it's "just stay out of it and look the other way." Selfish, immoral, and disgusting. Also known as typical liberal.
  • Damn Right
Damn Right, Neal. President Obama is yet again proving he is incapable of being presidential. He wants to be a "citizen of the world" ... and thinks the USA should be as well ... but at a time when it REALLY matters ... he remains neutral. Some "leader" we have "ruling" us. North Koreans test nukes and long range missiles ... nothing. A country that has been led by terrorists and dictators finally shows a budding of freedom ... and BO is "disturbed". We all know BO is incapable of being a leader ... but is it too much to ask that he at least act like one instead of "phoning it in" while simultaneously leading us down the socialism road. Obama and Carter ... Twins separated at birth. Where is Reagan when you need him?
  • No surprise here, Neal
As Obama has shown he despises democracy and relishes power, hates Israel and our few remaining allies, has stated Iran has "the right" to own nukes, has spent the US Treasury into banana-republic status, has released jihadists from GITMO, what do you expect? Get real, Neal.

Obama is waging his special brand of jihad upon the USA. The only deafening silence I hear is from the dumbmasses in this country. Wake up, people.
  • Tehran riots
    What will HE do?
He'll vote "Present" - worked in the past...
  • WHAT DO YOU SAY, MR. PRESIDENT?
    Present.
  • Mr. Telepromter votes: 'Present'
We and the world are in deep..... guano
  • silence
If Obama supports Mousavi publicly, that could be a bad thing. We don't want the moderate reformer being seen as America's puppet.
  • The Øbamateur can't say much about the Iranian election because he knows that he engineered the ACORN fraud and it would be hypocritical of him to protest. Of course, that hypocrisy hasn't stopped him in the past...
  • Reality of Iran
And what do you want him to say? Our government has no influence in Iran (and yes I have Iranian friends who will quickly point this out); this was burned out by our political arrogance before their last king fell. Reality sucks, but Boortz I know you remember the days leading to the Shah’s fall, the embassy hostages, and the valiant but disastrous military rescue mission. It is safer for the Iranian moderates if we stay far away from this election issue.
  • The President
President Obama is going to do what he did in the Senate. When the issue gets complicated and too hard to make a decision - he'd vote "present."

He'll abstain in this issue also - a gutless coward, our president. The NAACP and ACORN can't help him in this one.
  • Prudent silence is wise...
In this scenario, it is wise for Obama to remain quiet. He's going to have to deal with whoever the leadership in Iran is, and if he comes out on one side or the other, it could potentially harm efforts to improve the situation with Iran. If he comes out and congratulates Ahmadinejad, then he is found to have rigged the election, America will look like a fool. If he comes out in support of the protesters, and they're silenced, then Obama will be accused of inciting dischord among the Iranian people. I think he's making a prudent decision in withholding comment for the time being.

Remember, we have a history with them that involves the CIA overthrow of their government, and it hasn't been forgotten.
  • Iran
We can't really condemn Iran for their riots since we experience the same events here at home. Look at the riots in Los Angeles, and these rioters were celebrating a basketball victory!
  • Sitting on the Fence
This is nothing new. This is the same way Obama operated as a community organizer and later State Senator. Just sit on the fence until you see which way it goes. We knew this before he was elected, why would we expect him to change now?
  • Maybe
Maybe we should just stay out of it! It's not up to us and really, what is the difference? Mousavi is just as responsible for Iran's nuclear aspirations as Ahmadinejad, ya know, kinda like picking between McCain and Obama....
  • PrezBo
    Obama: "Present"
  • WHAT DO YOU SAY, MR. PRESIDENT?
i noticed that there were no overturned cars, or retail businesses being broken into and looted. it could be that it went on but not showned, but i doubt that if was going on the msm would make sure it got showned
  • Iran Stance From King Hussein
Hey, it's not President God's fault the UN hasn't told Him what to say yet. Give Him a break!
  • Iran
Prezbo is doing the right thing by staying on the sidelines.ANYTHING he says would be used by the mad mullahs to show that reform party is somehow controled by the GREAT SATAN
  • Stay out of this Mr. President
It is amazing how Conservative radio wants to anoit the successor to Ahmadinejad. In truth we know nothing of these other candidates. My guess is that none of the other candidates ran on a pro-Israel, pro-US occupation of Iraq, or an anti-Aytollah platform. Please Mr. President stay out of the Iran issue as we have no business getting involved in that mess anyway.
  • WHAT DO YOU SAY, MR. PRESIDENT?
  • Disgusting
This ranks right up there with Cuba, Tiananmen Square, and the Kurdish Rebellion after the Gulf War. I don't understand spending billions on foreign war, but not even having the cojones to verbally get behind a freedom seeking people. Perhaps if politicians had some experience doing the right thing they might know how to.
  • Freedom
"Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to assure the survival and the success of liberty."
What right wing nut job said that?
    Oh, JFK
  • :(
    Sadface :(
  • True...
A principled stand in favor of progressive reform would be nice... if America could make such a stand with a straight face.

But understandably, Obama's taking the pragmatic approach: he'll have to deal with whoever's running Iran when all this mess is over. And, of course, we have no right to dictate what sort of government the Iranians should choose for themselves (an alien concept to the last few neocons and their ashen dreams of empire).

But by all means, let's see some swagger and threats! Good old-fashioned Bush-style "diplomacy" that'll get the blood boiling and the missiles flying! THAT'S what we need....

    In Libertardian Fantasyland, that is.
  • WHAT DO YOU SAY, MR. PRESIDENT?
Why is Obama so obsequious to Moslems?
