It is our goal here at the Neal Boortz Show to keep you informed on the ongoing debate over universal healthcare. Basically, here is where we are. The people of this country are starting to get the picture. They are starting to figure out that their politicians are a little bit too in love with power. It took a while, but some of our brighter citizens are starting to rebel against this idea that America is great because of government. Considering the government takeovers and outrageous spending, Americans are realizing that maybe this idea of "big government" isn't all it's cracked up to be.

So the people are getting antsy, and this is happening before the looters can even really get going on their plan for ultimate power, government healthcare. The left knows they need to work quickly before the great unwashed mess things up. There's another problem: Congressional approval ratings are in the tank. Dick Cheney is more popular than Nancy Pelosi in the latest polls. What to do? How do you save the left's number one priority? You call on God, that's what you do. In the case of the Democrats, that means you get Barack Obama involved.

Yep, the president initially said that he was going to leave the healthcare debate up to Congress. That was then. This is now; and now the people are wary of a government takeover. Riding the coattails of Obama's popularity will be a government healthcare scheme they say will cost this country over $1.3 trillion over the next 10 years. They're wrong. Look for twice that amount. White House budget director Peter Orszag says, "Ultimately, as happened with the recovery act, it will become President Obama's plan." Even Rahm Emanuel says, "Obviously ... the president's adoption of something makes it easier to vote for, because he's -- let's be honest -- popular, and the public trusts him." No, Rham. He's sort of a God.

These people aren't stupid. They know how to dupe the government-educated into believing that this is what they want - more government.

  • Ivan
You're right about getting that help for free and soon.

Joyce, I'm not laughing, I'm crying 'cause I'm starting to think like that. Well, maybe not quite like that, but there is much truth in what Ivan says.

Jacob, I'm with Galt, but I'll take it a step further. The bureaucrats running the residency will be afraid to fail a minority.
  • Doc
ummmm did I say that out loud.....

It wasn't me Oh Great "O", it was, ummmm COPY! Yeah, that's it! Copy said it!
  • To Stan Gable
Neal is still playing the role he was hired for. I like Neal and I know that he is an intelligent person, but I still think he is not ready for the truth just like many of his listeners and other Americans that are sleepwalking their way through their lives. You know how Neal always makes references to all the "sheep" out there that watch American Idol and could give two craps about politics? Well Republicans and Democrats need to get off of the whole Right vs. Left thing because THAT is the equivalent to American Idol politics. Our politicians try to cause controversy on purpose. They have 100% access to the MSM to spit their nonsense. Most of the time it is all just a giant diversion. The REAL people in power use our two party system to confuse people and further solidify their power base. If people knew the extent of the corruption you would be completely shocked.
  • Jacob - Doesn't surprise me
Jacob, unfortunately, your post does not surprise me at all. The way things currently are, the weaker candidates still get weeded out, regardless of race. I'm not convinced that would still happen under ObamaCare.
  • Looters?
How3 come Neal calls the president a looter? What was it when Bush sent our money to Iraq rather than spending it on the American Economy or American people?
  • Universal Healthcare?
Les's stop calling this a Universal "Healthcare" plan and call it what it really is - Universal somebody else takes care of the bill plan! People aren't worried about access and level of treatment, they just want it all to be paid for by someone else.
  • Joyce M/Blythe
i wasn't laughing at Ivan. i was for real. i am a Conspiracy Theorist if that's what you call us.

Joyce M/Blythe you've been convicted of Thought Crime! repeat after me 2+2=5

    :O)
  • Doc and Ben
Don't laugh too hard at Ivan. You can find videos of news reports on this very subject. I'm not talking about home made videos, I'm talking clips from MSM and cable channels. Or course they talk about how wonderful it is....
  • My two cents
People, especially the poor and ignorant, put too much responsibility for their health into someone else's hands, and don't bother to do anything on their own. God forbid they take the time to exercise 4-5 times a week...it's more convenient to run to the doctor and get a pill for what ails you...so, when health care is free, they'll all be running to the doctor 2-4 times a week. Oh, we can't be bothered with a healthy diet, we must have out macaroni and cheese and our cookies and chips and moonpies...it's easier. Let's never mind that those food stamps would go a little further if they stuck with beans and rice, healthier alternative AND cheaper. My taxes should go to pay for the health care of stupid people, who haven't the sense to get off the couch and MAYBE take a little bit of responsibility for themselves and their health???

And the arrogance of this government...let's never mind that national health care doesn't work any where else..."Well, that's over THERE...they're stupid. We over here can do better, cause, well, we're THIS country." Let's never mind that anyone with half a brain can see that OUR government screws up anything it lays it's giant tentacles on.

So, my dear peeps...have an eye to your health...cause once they get this monstrosity into the works, there will be lines from hell...The doctors will be moving out of this country and to someplace that DOESN'T have Nationalized Health care. Lines from hell because of people too stupid, lazy, and/or irresponsible to maybe help themselves to better health. Heh...wait til cold and flu season...you won't have a chance in hell of seeing a doctor, because of all the stupid people who dragged in their stupid kids, because they had a stupid sniffle and half a degree of temperature.

    Change you can believe in.
  • How about "You Get What You Pay For"
Plan is this: If I use a medical service (doctor, surgeon, hospital, prescription med), I pay for it. Simple. I might have to ask the provider the dreaded question, "Can I afford it?" and might be shocked to find out I cannot. But the price charged for almost everything is a function of the ability/willingness of the customer to pay for it.

To wit: there is a doctor who charges $35 for an office visit. Cash. No insurances accepted. No billing. Cash - at the time of service. The doctor claims he makes more money this way - no administrative pygalgia attempting to get reimbursed from an insurance company whenever the insurance company decides to pay up.

Would generic simvastatin still cost $10 per pill ($300/month) if "the insurance company" weren't paying all but $20/month? Would the doctor's office have an entire room full of "sample" medications, provided for by the drug companies - if the drug companies weren't (over)charging what the market will bear?

Nope. Nor would the hospital be charging $3 for a 300mg aspirin tablet. Nor would the hospital get away with charging $110 for a "mucus recovery system" (small box of Kleenex). Requesting a "detailed bill" from the hospital can be very educational - you'll learn how many different ways they can charge you for the same service.

i'll save you a seat at the Conspiracy Theorist psychological get together. we can go over 2+2=5 together.

    :O)
  • To Ben Dover
I'll wait until it is free. Which is soon...
  • @ GALT
"Could I be laying on an operating table one day with a surgeon who got his job because of his race, instead of his skills?"

This may come as a shock to you (or not), but I can say definitively there is a different set of criteria for admission for blacks and whites at medical schools, at least state-sponsored schools. However, the sequence of medical eduaction is so long (after High school, it's a minimum 13 years to become a surgeon), that most of the incompetents get weeded out. The true weed out is internship/residency. Residency is where a future surgeon learns his/her trade. No residency director would let a dangerous surgeon graduate; it would reflect poorly on the residency. Still, there is no question that race plays a role in getting into medical school.
  • Mr. Dutch
The market does work, if you take out

    1. Government regulations and mandates in insurance cost. Should a 95 year old woman pay just encase she gets pregnant? Mandates make her pay. Let the people decide as to what they want to be covered, not government mandating bundling coverage.

    2. Have tort reform (basically, loser pays) this would let the doctors test for what they think is wrong, not multiple test to find unrelated problems, but they must do that so they don’t get sued for missing something.

    3. Limit the amount time of FDA testing on medication, there will never be a pill that works for everyone; there will be side effects to some. This will get meds on the shelf and in the doctor’s office quicker, just inform the public what the side effects are and they can decide if the benefits will outweigh the side effects

    4. Start charging people who abuse the emergency room, if it’s not life or limb, they should pay. Just examples: People who call for an ambulance because they ran out of meds, whose fault is that? People who can’t wait a day for an appointment for a nonemergency, and they go to the emergency room.

I can think of more, but you get the point, government interference means higher cost
  • Ivan
Have you sought professional help yet?
  • Yes to universal healthcare*
(Note the asterisk*) let’s have universal healthcare with a co-pay, follow me on this one, take your height and divide by two, this would be your waist starting point, your waist should be this size or less, for every half inch over, 2.5 percent would be added to the co-pay cost. Odds are, if your waist is equal to or less than half your height, you’re most likely healthy, with the exception of disease and injuries, which would probability, is less then 2% of these people.

OR, to be fair to the liberals, just like in taxes, there should be progressive co-pay, the larger the waist, the higher the percentage rate. First 3 inches=no co-pay, 4”=3%, 5”=7%, 6”=10%, 7”=18%, 8”=25%, 9”=40%, 10”=55%, 11”=70%, 12”=90%, and 13” and over and illegal aliens 100%

Visitors from another country with universal health care, they'll pay 100% and be reimbursed by their country when they return, (I’m sure there won’t be much red tape doing that). People on visas, 50% plus the waist percentage, they can cry to their country for reimbursement.

This would be an incentive to get people of the lard ass class to either thin down or pay the price for their laziness. Okay... there will be the people crying about “I have a thyroid problem” or “its genetics”, these would be such a small percent of the population and can be tested to prove if it is actually a thyroid issue, if it proven false, they pay for the cost of the test. Go ahead and cry wolf (thyroid), odds are, they don’t eat healthy or exercise enough.

keep in mind, this is for basic health, not care to save life or limb.

The same co-pay cost would also apply to medication, have you seen the number of meds the lard asses are taking?
  • Tick, Tick...
There is, as yet, no national health care legislation. That means all the folks who believe the market can do better still have time to COME UP WITH A PLAN. But don't sit on your butts and then whine when someone else solves your problems for you.
  • Doc
Is that why there is a growing French population here in the US? The number of people paying into the system has finally slipped below the number receiving from the system in France and quite a few of the younger professionals have moved here to avoid their high tax rates. Course if we keep going the way we are, they'll leave us....
  • i don't like health care
i want people to die early. the earlier the better. i don't like nations whose life expectancy is more than america's. nations like japan, sweden, israel, canada, switzerland, greece, australia, norway, netherlands, italy, england, france, spain, austria, singapore, germany, new zealand, ireland, belgium, CUBA, costa rica, finland, denmark.
i'm like neal. who cares about people? we both want them dead if a adds a penny to our taxes.
have you seen the taxpayers in them countries? why in france, the taxpayers had a hard time affording their month long vacations to the beach. poor taxpayers.
  • Jeffrey
Too late! Some government moron on Fox yesterday was asked if the healthcare program would cover illegal aliens three times, she kept avoiding it until she finally admitted it would.
  • Universal Healthcare
    Neal,

Please stop referring to this mess as "Universal Healthcare". If this ideal catches on with the left, they'll demand free health care for illegal aliens, no matter what planet they are from.
  • So...
Who is going to be the first person to let God put a RFID chip in your arm? That is all this government healthcare has ever been about. Getting the chip in you and getting you on the grid. That way when you act up they turn off your chip and you are instantly in deep crap. You will have no access to money, food, or health care. I am sure they will build in a kill switch too if they haven't already. The RFID chip is slavery. The RFID chip will solidify their control over you. If you think people are predictable now just wait til you have a chip in you. It will never be the same. If you think I am a kook talking about this then perhaps you should start watching the news. Over the past 6 months I have seen probably 30-35 news stories on TV alone talking about the "benefits" of having your children implanted.
  • Frightening thought this morning
I was discussing politics with an engineering friend this morning and he mentioned the racial quotas his company must meet in order to get government contracts. Then I had a disturbing thought. When the government gives us our "free" healthcare, will they have similar quotas? Could I be laying on an operating table one day with a surgeon who got his job because of his race, instead of his skills?

Singapore's looking better and better. Or Galt's Gulch.
