Guess who has joined the global warming movement? ACORN. Yep, your friendly community organizers and voter fraud organization has decided to throw its efforts into the global warming movement. This is according to the World Watch Institute:

Brian Kettenring, ACORN's deputy director of national operations, said his group - the largest grassroots community organization of low- and moderate- income people in the United States - was inspired to join the Climate Equity Alliance and work with groups such as the Sierra Club after seeing the vulnerability of cities such as New Orleans to rising sea levels and more intense climatic events. The group, which lobbies for affordable housing and improved education in urban areas, is also encouraged by the hope of "green jobs," environmentally sustainable employment opportunities.

"ACORN families understand that building a green economy that's sustainable and builds jobs for working families is good for them, good for the environment, and good for communities," Kettenring said.

ACORN's contribution will include direct lobbying of Congress. In the long term, Kettenring expects more ACORN chapters to become involved in green jobs initiatives, such as efforts to collect federal funding for weatherizing urban buildings.

Now where in there do you see any concern for the environment? None. It's not about that. It is about gaining power for your segment of the population. More specifically, it's about gaining some control over the government's use of power. That's all that this global warming movement is about ... it is a fraud and a scheme created to empower people who would otherwise be selling Che Guevara t-shirts at a street fair.

What others are saying

  • ACORN = a check
These low income parasites because of global warming may get sent a check for their suffering. Thats what ACORN's sudden interest is about.
  • Horrible indeed, copyleft
Copyleft, "Why, it could even to those horrible low-income people "organizing" in some way that could realize greater political power for themselves! And that's a nightmare we must prevent, at all costs! (Chuckle)"

Actually you thought you were making a joke ... but you were dead-bang right. When the uninformed and imbeciles in this world gang together to flex political muscle, it IS a bad thing bordering on tragedy. When the uninformed get together and push a political agenda you get things like "I FEEL this isn't right", "The MYTH of manmade Global warming without and databased facts", and Barrack Obama in the white house. The uninformed and ignorant have caused those things to be ... there is a REASON why the founding fathers thought a democracy was a bad thing.

I honestly don't mind that someone has a different view/vote than mine provided the vote is based on logic and the rule of law ... and not the greed, racism, blatent theft, and illogic that defines the mentality of most liberal voters. To a liberal it's OK if something is unfair ... provided it's unfair in their favor.

And before that the earth was covered with volcanic action and 120 degree average. We've gone back and forth many times. The last I think was actually the barbeques the dinosaurs used to have in the back 40. Oh wait, was that THEM being barbequed? hmmmmm

"So it stands to reason that Native Americans actually caused global warming due their heavy industry and taste for SUVs." LOL!!!
  • Liberal Lockstepping and Global Warming
The reason conservatives don't lockstep is that we tend to be very individualistic and by nature avoid the throng. The planet is obviously warmer than it used to be some time in the past. Geologists are in agreement that there were once glaciers as far South as the Ohio River. So it stands to reason that Native Americans actually caused global warming due their heavy industry and taste for SUVs. I'm sure that there is some "Scientist" who through the processes that "scientistic" professionals today apply to the data they may or may not have gathered will agree. I'm willing to bet that Ivan has done more actual research than most of the "scientists" who preach man made climate change.
  • To: Hotsauce
That's not what Neal was asking. Neal asked, "Where's the CONCERN for the environment in this statement?" And it was right there in the words he quoted.

Whether that concern is real or feigned, whether it will truly "deliver"--separate question.
  • Mike S
The problem is, there are lots of respected scientists who disagree with all these assumptions made by our government. Instead of getting all the scientists and having them work on is it real or is it Parkay, they jumped right into "oh this is another way to grab power" mode.

We do not have good science on this.
  • C'mon Copy
"It's right there in the press release it must be true!"

You're accusing Boortz of being lazy but your only refutation to his statement is that since they said it's for the environment, it must be.
Ever consider that they are just saying that to make people feel fuzzy inside?
  • Liberal lockstepping
Why do all liberal/progressive orgs march in lockstep with one another? Maybe that's why the Dems don't have the infighting that the GOP does.
  • ACORN
All they are doing is setting themselves up for some more government grants.
  • community pride
Are you fricking kidding me? the low income uneducated masses that acorn promotes couldnt care less about the environment or their own communities...just take a drive through one (if you are brave or stupid enough) to see the amount of community pride they exhibit.
  • ACORN and Global Warming
ACORN continues to be on the lookout for any scam that will add to its coffers - just as Al Gore. No surprise there.
  • It's Not Easy Being Green
It requires a suspension of common sense, a denial of basic human nature, and a willingness to believe whatever claptrap weirdos like Al Gore are spouting. It takes effort to be that stupid.
  • All just completely brainless buzzwords never meant to be questioned
"The group, which lobbies for affordable housing and improved education in urban areas, is also encouraged by the hope of "green jobs," environmentally sustainable employment opportunities."

Well, we know that "affordable housing" means "free" and and "improved education" means unionized jobs doing absolutely anything but teaching. But exactly what is a "green job" or an "environmentally sustainable employment opportunity"?

I'd have to guess that they are the same as "affordable housing" and "improved education"; money for nothing and the chicks for free.
  • Global Warming...
Not one single politician is against cleaning up the environment, but it would be plain dumb to destroy entire industries because of Global Warming. If we were to do what the hippies want it would literally destroy what little economy we have left. Also the facts are no longer on Gore's side when it comes to Man-Made Global Warming. Now that the politics of Global Warming have gotten serious scientists with opposing views are literally destroying the Global Warming argument causing Global Warming researchers to try to come up with other possibilities.

I have done my own research into the matter and I have 4 notebooks filled with personal data as well as data from NASA and from weather stations from different parts of the world. I am starting to get a clear understanding of what may be going on and why all of the planets in our solar system have shown signs of warming. I am not done with my research yet, but it looks like it does actually all come back to the Sun being the source of the problem. The lack of sun spot activity over the last 6-9 years may be linked to something that is causing a distortion in the Sun's gravity. What that something is I could not tell you. It could just be a hiccup of some kind in the thermonuclear core of the Sun or it could be that the Sun is being acted upon by the gravity of another celestial body of some kind. If this were the case astronomers that study the Sun would be talking about it. There was something that showed up on SOHO in March 2009, but I don't quite understand what I am looking at to be honest. Since no astronomers made mention of it it is probably nothing. I would love to have access to some of the advanced IR satellites cause I am sure they would give some great incite into what is going on with the Sun. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that very soon our solar system will be passing through the galactic ecliptic. That could be it too. Maybe the Sun is not being acted upon by the gravity of a celestial object, but perhaps the lack of additional gravitational forces as we pass through the galactic ecliptic is causing the odd behavior of the Sun. I dunno...I am just throwing some ideas around.
  • I agree, partly
I agree that groups like Acorn and politicians like Algore mainly want to use the global warming issue to advance unrelated agendas. That doesn't change the science, however.
  • I agree, Joyce
Grassroots my a**. I don't consider an organization funded with our tax dollars to be grassroots.
  • Goofy Left
Our environment has been getting significantly cleaner for years. Check the EPA reports.
ACORN was a major player in getting their local banks to make thousands of sub-prime loans and we know how well that worked out. What is the cost to our economy from the big housing crash that they helped to create? It seems that ACORN and Barney Frank owe our millions of unemployed a HUGE amount of restitution. Next time you see a business closed you can thank ACORN for helping.
  • Reading comprehension
Where is the concern for the environment? Well, how about right there in that middle paragraph that reads, "GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT." This is just lazy, Neal.

But you have a point: clearly, communities should NOT be getting together to make their surroundings cleaner, healthier, and safer. That would be bad.

Why, it could even to those horrible low-income people "organizing" in some way that could realize greater political power for themselves! And that's a nightmare we must prevent, at all costs! (chuckle)
  • ACORN
Every time I hear or see anything regarding ACORN, why do I think about those people camping out under a tree waiting for the Leprechaun?
  • Grassroots my a**
This outfit is as corrupt as any in America right now. Only one of 270 associated groups starting with SEIU. They can't even tell their members where all the money is going. The lowest level members might think they are doing good but all that money (and votes) they collect will never be seen in their community again. They are being used.
