President Obama finally decided to issue a statement over the weekend about the fake election and subsequent repression of protestors in Iran. Here's what the president had to say:

The Iranian government must understand that the world is watching. We mourn each and every innocent life that is lost. We call on the Iranian government to stop all violent and unjust actions against its own people. The universal rights to assembly and free speech must be respected, and the United States stands with all who seek to exercise those rights.

As I said in Cairo, suppressing ideas never succeeds in making them go away. The Iranian people will ultimately judge the actions of their own government. If the Iranian government seeks the respect of the international community, it must respect the dignity of its own people and govern through consent, not coercion.

Martin Luther King once said - "The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice." I believe that. The international community believes that. And right now, we are bearing witness to the Iranian peoples' belief in that truth, and we will continue to bear witness.

What do you think? Too little, too late? Iranian authorities have arrested 24 journalists, and at least 17 people have been killed in protest. This is really all that Obama can come up with? I never thought I'd say this, but I'm sticking with France on this one. French President Sarkozy came out with a statement a week ago about the situation. That's right .. Sarkozy didn't munch snails for a week trying to figure out what to do. He knew what was right, and voiced it immediately. He said that he "condemned the violence directed at demonstrators, the arrest of opposition members and political figures, restrictions on public liberties, freedom of expression and communication and the constraints imposed on Iranian and foreign nationals." Now we have France's Foreign Minister condemning "this brutal repression."

Not that Obama's words are going to make a difference ... but at least the world knows where the United States stands ...... sort of.

It’s not productive, given the history of U.S.-Iranian relations, to be seen as meddling, the U.S. president meddling in Iranian elections…

    PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA June 2009
  • What the hell is wrong with this?
Who in the hell can look at the photos of the young lady murdered in Iran, and see the people rising up against the corrupt government and just basically say, our hearts go out to you and take forever saying anything at all? If we had PETA looking out for the species of humans of the world the way they do whales, there would be all kinds of support for the free countries of the world doing what we have done thru out history. Containing evil and protection of human beings who are oppressed by their govts. I just dont get it! It angers me that this is the back bone of our country now. These people need help. Is it our business to "police the world"? Your damn right. Law enforcement isnt just needed within our borders. If this goes unchecked, we have no back bone and will be bullied and pushed around. We all better pray that our "Precious", PrezO, takes some sort of a stand and gets with HIS congress and formulates SOME kind of reaction or this nutcase of a dictator is gonna feel empowered and WILL become a bigger bully and exercise that behavior on the worlds countries and people after he's done with putting his own people back in their place.
  • I'm not going stay on topic

  • psssst. ivan......hey,over here...
i've got pictures of g.w.bush sneeking out the parkin' garage of tower #1 carryin' a roll of detenator wire and leavin' a trail of thermite behind him if anyone wants to buy then(they are a little fuzzy and he does look kinda like bigfoot but i swear its GWB)
  • I Thought Farsi.......
was the language of Iran? But all of the protest signs are written in English not Farsi! I wonder why? Hyperbole aside, the election legit or not is the business of Iran and Iranians not the West. Of course I wonder if the West would actually be so damned interested in Iranian democracy if Iran was an oil poor country rather than the other way around?
  • impeach obama
I don't know if I am the only one that feels that this guy is unfit to lead. I haven't seen one once of a leader out of him thus far, and suspect that he will not get any better. I think that obama thought that he would ride into Camolot, and the world would become a wounderfull utopia. His inability to sow any kind of balls and give what the people of Iran are asking him to do (show some suport for their cause) in my mind is just one more incident.
  • To D.D.
Yes it does leave a trace. That is what the paper is saying. They found the traces, but it is a different type of thermite. It is a defense department contract that makes this type. It is not just your run of the mill stuff and that is why the chips were decided to be either paint or flame retardant coating that shook loose. It is my experience that neither paint nor flame retardant explodes when introduced to heat. You're the expert apparently. You tell me.
  • To LiberalHater
This report is new and they actually ignited some of the unused nano-thermite. It exploded and released more energy than Plastic exlosives. The evidence is real. And judging from how much dust there was there should be plenty more for people to examine.
  • To Anti-Conspirator
Well you are wrong about all points. This information will be mainstream very soon. A new investigation is being launched by over 700 architects, engineers, and forensic scientists. They are not troofers. They are just like me. They don't believe the official story and they have evidence. The paper I presented is real and about 14-15 million people have now viewed it. It is getting more coverage in Europe than in the States for OBVIOUS reasons.
  • To jimg
You see. You don't want to even acknowledge the possibility that something could be wrong with the official story in light of this new evidence? That is mighty closed minded of you. By the way I not your average "troofer". Your "normal troofer" is one that comes up with hairball theories with nothing really to back it up. I didn't even consider the possibility that 9/11 could be an inside job until this new evidence came out. It is VERY damning by the way. Prove the information to be false and you can call me a nutty troofer or whatever. Until then keep your yap shut. :)
  • Some of you guys think I am nuts...
Well to you guys I am nuts. It is all a matter of how you look at it. I will agree with you that we walk a fine line here. I mean I can see how bad it would be if we found out that it was an "inside job" as some people put it. The problem we face is that there is now substantial evidence that proves there was nano-thermite, a defense department labratory grade incendiary, in the rubble. It was first written off as paint chips or flame retardant coating. That is why we have the story we have and that is why it makes no sense.

Listen...I know why it is difficult to accept what I am proposing. I voted for Bush 2 times. I really did. I believed all the rhetoric and propaganda flowing out of the White House for 8 years. I argued Republican talking points to no end and despite what many of you may question I am a Conservative.

I am not crazy. I just like the truth no matter the consequence. I understand the consequences of what I am saying to you guys. I also understand that many of you are tired of me coming on here and talking about controversial subjects.

Earlier I was just making the point that this whole Iran election fraud thing is just a conspiracy. That is all. You guys seem to believe that Ahmedinejad lost the election. He may have lost who knows? One thing I do know is that since he poses a threat to the US with his nut job policies we will always side with his opposition. That makes perfect sense, but to say that the election was fixed is just a conspiracy with no proof.

I was making a point that even though I have a scientific paper that proves there were explosives in the WTC people refuse to believe me because someone on the mainstream media told them to demonize and shut down people with alternative ideas about what happened on 9/11. That is wrong and I cannot believe I live in a country that supports suppressing information that can lead to the truth about one of the most horrific acts of terrorism the world has ever seen. The good news is that soon the people behind the paper will be launching an official investigation and will bring this information to the mainstream media. I am 100% certain this paper is factual based on the evidence presented. I know what this information implies, but the truth must be known. If Bush administration officials have to be called in so be it. It doesn’t matter who goes down for this. Only the truth matters. If we don’t restore the rule of law in this country then we don’t have a country anymore and we might as well just let them steal every last cent from us…oh nevermind they already did…
  • Ivan's comments
I hate to break it to you Ivan, but there is no proof, whatsoever, that this report is even real. Also, there is no proof whatsoever that these "scientists" really got this stuff from ground zero. I wan't definitive proof, not an assumption.
  • Ivan
Dude, I'm with you on Bilderberg. However, you're really reaching now with these assumptions. I've done the research myself over Building #7 and the thermite claims. The reality is, it's still speculation and not proven. Let's stick with a subject we know to be truth, like the Federal Reserve being the biggest scam on America.
  • IVAN take off you foil hat!
First I am like others, stay on point!

Next, and before you ask I am in the field. That old tired myth is wrong and was made up by wackos from the left and right. Highrise building are built to take the impact. Thermite leaves a very detectable trace. I am in the firefighting field and we have study this inside and out. The so called group that came up with this horsesh*t make things fit they they wanted them to.

    Sorry, BS!

    AND IT KEEPS GETTING FUNNIER!
  • Puhlease
Our own politicians have not been listening or representing the people that elected them so decades. Are we out in the streets? No.

Is there any difference between Ahmadinajad and Mousavi? Not really.

We should stay out of their issues and worry about our own. Get out in our streets and raise a little hell!

If Iran asks for our help to calm the violence that's one thing. Until then, it's not like the Iranians are fighting for a completely new form of government. It's more like Obama voters and McCain voters doing bitchslaps to eachother....
  • they were in charge of the election.................
wha the hell is ol' butt neckid talkin' 'bout???????

ACORN that's what!!! so it is obvious that the election in iran was on the up and up......right?
  • Obama started this mess
When he gave his supposed "speech" to the Iranian people. They obviously took Obozo's message too literally. Silly Iranians, to actually think that Prezbo would stand up for things like free and fair elections, etc. Things a U.S. president normally does.

And we wonder why the US is hated around the world? The current administration no longer stands up for the ideals and messages delivered in a speech only weeks ago?

So much for hopey and changey. Not only has the U.S. population been duped, now the Iranians have been equally duped by this farce of a president.
  • To Club-a-Liberal
I forgot to address the whole weakening of the steel argument. Yeah it is true heat can weaken steel however @ 1600 degrees F which is the temperature that airplane fuel burns at it would not weaken all of the other steel not effected by the fires. Steel framed skyscrapers are designed to withstand EXACTLY these conditions. That said however thermite/nano-thermite could easily weaken and ultimately melt steel and it did. That is what it is designed to do. The nano-thermite was literally eating the inside of the building until the building could no longer hold itself up. After my analysis and others out there I am certain 100% that the towers came down because of thermite in the building. Further than this I am certain it was nano-thermite because firefighters and policemen at the scene reported hearing explosions inside the building all the way up until they fell. Thermite does not explode, but nano-thermite does. Nano-thermite has organic compounds within it that when consumed very quickly by heat releases gas. The gas is released so quickly that it essentially explodes because it is a quick release of pressure. I am certain I am correct about this. I know other scientists will reach the same conclusions. The question now is how will this change things? Whose head will roll? I can't answer that. All I know is that while we were lead to believe the investigations were thorough infact they were not. If they were they would have discovered the nano-thermite and we would have a different official story. The 9/11 Commission did say that their investigation results was not bullet proof. They admit that much. I am telling all of you that there is MUCH more to investigate. I just don't get why so many want to block these investigations. It just does not make sense.
  • Intellectually dishonest partisanship
    Neal,

If Obama comes out in support of the opposition, the clerics will use this to discredit the opposition as American stooges. That's why France is taking the lead in condemning the election results, and I'm sure the Western leaders agreed to this strategy from the get go. But of course you already knew that already.

Anything to slam Obama, no matter how intellectually dishonest.

The President of Iran says their were some 500 extra ballots in some areas of voting but these irregularities didn't affect the vote...Really?

the Iranian government seems very pleased to blame everyone one else for it's current turmoil but itself maybe they should get a new mirror because that split image is clouding it's people perception.
  • Sorry I can't
worked up over this. This election was one islamic extremist kook vs. another. Kinda like alien vs. predator, there is no 'better" candidate. This internal unrest is good because it'll keep those terrorist sob's tied up and keep them from killing innocents elsewhere.
  • US and Freedom
I've read about these two arguments for days now. I still do not see what would be wrong with our president saying that the US stands up for freedom and those who seek it--whereever they might be.

No saber-rattling. No threats of war. No invasion. Simply supporting people.

As to the election being a sham. They have between 35-40 million *paper* ballots and the Supreme Leader called the election within 2 hours. You figure it out. It would take a week to count them all.
  • yeah sure...
People are dying, cities pillaged and burned, and the pretender tells them if they don't behave, he will have to ... oh I am sorry, he already nicely told them that he would change the United States into a socialistic/communistic country if only they would mend their ways.

Hasn't he gotten the clue they patronize him to his face and as soon as he walks away, shoot him the bird and laugh? How proud are those that voted for this guy?

  • No fan of Prezbo
Everyone thinks the Amadinejad needs to get the hook. He's just a puppet of the Mullah's who run the regime. This is the beginning of their decline that has been in the works for decades. I'm no fan of Obama but I think he's handled his responses well. The US is not in a position to make threats. Any strong or volatile statements from the US will be used as propaganda. So far his measured responses have been pretty good IMO.
  • I hate to side with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad but...
Even from the biased western reporting it looks like the opposition was just a very large minority. They lost, they should get over it. Look at our election results for the 2008 election. Did Alabama riot when Obama won? NO. They lost they need to get over it and get ready for the next election. Not only that they REALLY REALLY need to lobby for term limits. Another thing you're not seeing reported is that there were other minority candidates that were taking votes away from the opposition, they also had the "Ross Perot" effect in full effect and the protesters aren't even acknowledging that.

Obama shouldn't do squat about this election, the real question is why does the US even care.
  • America is not the world's babysitter...
...so I can understand why a less involved tone from Chairman Teleprompter. America is not the world's police, as the economy is so desparately trying to tell us these days. Iran is half a world away. I could understand Iran's neighbors however being more concerned over the situation since it might affect their stability. It sounds as though Iranians(particularly the young ones) want some type of normalcy from their govt, rather than the oppression they have now. America can help water the seeds of liberty in that country by doing trade with them and setting examples of personal liberty and free market captilism and the exchange of ideas.
  • iran
hmmm...right to assemble, free speech...didnt here that about us who attended the TEA PARTIES
  • To Club-a-Liberal
I am saying that someone put nano-thermite into the buildings earlier in the year perhaps during scheduled maintenance of some kind. Interestingly enough the WTC towers went through an elevator modernization of some kind about 9 months prior. Securacom would have had to allowed the technicians access to the inner structure of the buildings. I can't say for sure this is when it happened, but it could have. And you ask for a motive? What if the United States government wanted to pass some radical new legislation (Patriot Act which was actually proposed BEFORE 9/11) and perhaps try to push toward a New World Order where the IMF controlled all money and international commerce as well as dictate international policy? That is motive enough to do something like this. Haven't you heard all the rumblings about the death of the dollar and all the countries everywhere talking about how weak the US economy is? What if this was by design and the only way they could get it done was by flying planes into a building and ruining the US economy by creating a completely unneeded stimulus/tarp program to help the Federal Government gobble up banks and companies and force other large companies out of the country by imposing new tyranical fascist taxes on them. Yeah sound nuts? Not to me. This would have been extremely easy to put together with the right resources. The only thing they haven't done yet is impose ICC law on the US. I am sure that Obama is the guy that will make it happen though.

  • Hey, Obama's the Reason for the Protest
Don't know if you caught it, but yesterday on Meet the Press, Chuck Todd said the Obama team was upset because no one gave Obama credit for the Iranian protests. According to Todd, Obama's team saw Obama's Cairo speech as the beacon that led Iranians to challenge the government's illegal election. Don't know what's worse, the arrogance of Obama's staff for thinking such a thing, or the ignorance of NBC News for accepting such a patently absurd interpretation of events.
  • Gibbs and French prez
I think the Iranian prez should get the boot; I agree with Gibbs that Iran wants us to get sucked in so they can play the West v Iran card; and I agree with the French prez, but also wonder if he would be doing this if the French had not had the Muz scum rioting in their streets
  • @Ivan
    >>>>Fires have never in the history of the world brought down a steel framed skyscrapper.<<<<

First off, many experts say that certainly fire can weaken steel. Let's say you are right and it can't, I'm not sure we have a large enough sample to make that a valid conclusion since it is very rare, just like saying that the Vatican has never been blown over by a tornado. Regardless, fire may not have brought a skyscraper down in history, but I don' t recall any skyscraper being hit with a giant airplane at full speed ever in history either.

I'm confused. Let me get this straight: you agree that terrorists flew the planes in the buildings. Are you saying that, once those planes were flown into the buildings, that the miracle working conspirators were able to booby-trap the WTC buildings in mere minutes, within all the rubble and chaos, and bring them down?

Or are you saying that the WTCs were booby trapped before the terrorists flew into them? For what purpose? What's the difference whether you have eeither a) two buildings left standing with giant holes in them after two planes flew into them, or b) two buildings down on the ground after the planes flew into them. Either way, they are acts of war. What, do you think if the buildings didn't come down everyone would've said, "Well, I know the towers have been blasted by two planes, so I think it's not so bad that we need to respond."?

    I don't get the motive.
  • STEPPING UP ON IRAN
Has anyone else notice that Obama is ALWAYS slow to respond to EVERY situation? It is not that I want a hothead who jumps before he thinks but honestly, Obama's dawdling reactions are seriously making me question his ability to make decisions. Either he’s indecisive and unclear about the situation or he's just not that bright (or maybe ALL of the above).
  • To Rick
Thank you Rick. You are starting to get it. I believe all this uproar is just simply a ploy to force Iran to have a new election or to oust the Iranian President. That is how our government works. When we disagree with a foreign country we feel like we need to get involved. Screw that. Look what getting involved in Iraq has done to this country. We are now so divided that we all hate each other. I mean we HATE each other. This isn't America anymore. It is something else and it is scary. I know some of you out there feel the same way. This is our government doing this to us. Why do we allow it?
  • @Amy 8:52:34
    Very good point.
  • To Club-a-Liberal
Look I have a really good idea of what took place at the WTC towers based on this new scientific paper...

    http://www.bentham-open.org/pages/content.php?TOCPJ/2009/00000002/00000001/7TOCPJ.SGM

I am not going to try to claim that terrorists had nothing to do with the attacks. I believe they did...however I do believe that "someone" put military grade nano-thermite in the buildings to make sure they came down. There is literally NO WAY in hell that those buildings came down the way they said they did. The steel in the buildings was not weakened by burning jet fuel. That is absolutely nuts and if you believe that you should study up on how these buildings are built. Fires have never in the history of the world brought down a steel framed skyscrapper. I believe that terrorists flew planes into the WTC towers which ignited the nano-thermite which in turn literally liquified the steel framing. There are videos on Youtube that show MOLTEN IRON flowing out of one of the sides of the WTC. That is impossible based on what they told us. ONLY thermite does that. Furthermore first responders saw pools of molten iron and steel in the bases of the buildings. Like I said before ONLY thermite can do this. The best part? Nano-thermite can be turned into a liquid and sprayed on. That explains why these scientists found chips of UNIGNITED nano-thermite in the rubble. Other investigators thought they were just paint chips or fire-proofing material that was shaken loose when the planes hit...NOPE. BS. Yes some of the material was shaken loose, but it wasn't paint or fire-proofing material. It was actually weapons grade lab created nano-thermite in spray on form. Just an FYI on this material...you can ONLY get it for special military purposes. There is absolutely noway in hell that Arabs that live in caves in Afghanistan could get it. PERIOD. Therefore it is my assumption that they had help. I can't tell you for sure who I know was involved, but I can tell you that Marvin Bush, George W's little brother owned a little company called Securacom that ran security for United Airlines AND the WTC towers. Suspect? BIGTIME. Was there ever an investigation? NOPE. Of course not. This is why I DO NOT trust our government anymore. It is because of THIS kind of BS.
  • About right
As much as I think that Obama is a worse president than either Johnson or Carter, I think he is being given souns advice as to his response to the protests in Iran. If he comes out too weak he will be accused of being soft on radical Islam and non-supportive of the freedom movement in Iran. If he comes out too aggressively, he could trigger a violent repression not unlike the one in China 20 years ago.

    >>>>>If America put its imprint on the protests, then the protests would be (to the middle eastern street) linked to western interference and would potentially fizzle as a result, as there is still a lack of love for America even on behalf of reformists in places like Iran.<<<<

You actually think the thousands protesting on the streets will see CNN International and say, "Wait, guys, look, America just offered us protestors support. Damn! OK, Let's pack up now and head home. It's over, let's stop the revolution!"??????????????

Besides, OBozo is doing what he is doing not because of what he thinks is right, it's solely for whatever the political wind dictate at the moment. If the polls showed that he needs to go on TV with a turbon on his pencil-neck big-eared head with a Iranian flag and a big foam Mahmoud I'madickforjihad #1 finger, he would do it. If it told him to be tougher, then he would do that.

BTW, we are not asking him to call for the assassination of everyone. Is it hard for him to state a few supportive lines for freedom? Can he at least be as tough on these nutjubs as the Dems and him have been tough on Musharraf?? He had no problems blasting him, did he?
  • Iranian situation
I usually do not approve of anything this president has done because he seems incompetent and indecisive.But...in this case I think stepping back and looking at the situation for a short time is probably better.Although I also believe that he does this out of indecisiveness and incompetence, not because it is a thought out plan.Words of encouragement now are alright, but we should not get involved.
  • Fixed Election...hmmmmmmmmm
I have to agree with Ivan on "How do we know that the Iranian Election was fixed?". Who is the source of this information and where are the facts to support it. All I have seen/heard is what this person thinks or that person thinks, no facts to support it.

Besides do we really have the right to complain about another country's fixed (maybe) election? Remember ACORN and the hanging CHAD - to name a couple?
  • @By Ivan @ 06/22/09 09:34:57 AM
    >>>>>We refuse to get upset when there is now physical evidence to proove that the official story of 9/11 is false.<<<

I haven't heard your beliefs on the 9/11 story. Can you elaborate on what you think happened?
  • More of the Same
Neal, what you actually are giving him credit for the latest response? Give me a break. After one week of polling conducted by Axelrod, President Barack "I voted present 150 times" Obama now realizes that people want more of an aggressive stance.

If you haven't figured out the pattern by now, you are not paying attention. This man is a joke and embarrassment. During the campaign, he did the same thing with Georgia and Russia. He initially equated both countries and didn't say who was right or wrong. Only after McCain immediately hammered Russia, several days later OBozo came on the side of Georgia.
  • Prezbo on Iran
Given the tepid and limp response of Prezbo, it seems almost that Prezbo is pissed at the civil disobedients for disrupting the relative status quo of the middle east.
  • America staying quiet lends more credibility to the uprising
Friends, these issues are complicated. I am no big Obama fan, but I'll stand up for him this time.

If President Obama started pounding his chest on this one, it would play right into the hands of the ruling bullies in Iran and various other Islamic hardliners throughout the Middle East.

Because America has stayed quiet on this one, this "revolution" sends a much stronger message to the theocratic thugs . . . that is, it is a true populist grassroots uprising, not some western-orchestrated insurgency.

If America put its imprint on the protests, then the protests would be (to the middle eastern street) linked to western interference and would potentially fizzle as a result, as there is still a lack of love for America even on behalf of reformists in places like Iran.
  • Obama has to be careful....
...not to be TOO supportive of the protesters. He is worried... the same thing could happen to HIS regime.
  • We are not the world's police
President Obama, please stay out of this mess. It doesn't matter who wins.
  • Wait...but isn't this a conspiracy?
How do we know for sure that the Iranian election was fixed? The answer is that we don't. We are just relying upon our government to give us credible information. Why am I bringing this up? Well recently I have had people tell me they don't believe some of the "conspiracies" I bring up on here. Mine actually have WAYYYY more evidence than this "fixed" Iranian election does. I love how we get behind a conspiracy propagated by our government that has almost no evidence, but we are not willing to get upset over an obvious scam that the government is pulling on the American people with the TARP/Stimulus. BTW it IS a scam. Our money is being stolen and given to banks and corporations. The American people will never see a dime of that money. We refuse to get upset when there is now physical evidence to proove that the official story of 9/11 is false. You know people amaze me sometimes. They claim to be logical thinking people, but they aren't. Think for yourselves. Don't wait on your government to feed you what they want you to hear. That is just stupid.
  • Applicability
Change the focus of Obama's comments to the April 15th Tea Parties--very applicable. HOWEVER, no such comments exited his mouth (or the teleprompter's) at that time!!
  • Dooh!Bama
"The universal rights to assembly and free speech"?

The universe has a constitution and a bill of rights?

What's with liberals trying to tell people that other countries respect the same "rights" America does. Also, America states that our inalienable rights originate from God so that no man can take them away. Iran and many others do not view things this way. "Rights" as Americans know them do not exist in many countries.

For Obama to sit around licking his soft serve saying that America isn't going to interfere in Irans issues but yet trying to cast our "rights" on their country is pretty hypocritical. But that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. What ever moves everyone toward his fascist utopia.
  • I still think POTUS was right on this one..
If he had spoken much earlier, it would have been used as propoganda by the Iranian leadership. Now that it is apparent that the people are willing to stand up to their supreme leader, not just the president (who wields little real power) this is when you find Obama stepping up and making a statement. We can't follow anything up with force now, we're about to go to war with Korea while we're broke, and we can't also go to war in Iran, helping the protesters cause, because we're broke. I don't really understand why everyone insisted that Obama had to say something... since when was it important to us what another country's leader said when, for example, Bush was granted the win in 2000 and there were protesters? Did the leader of, I dunno, Austria stand up and say 'we stand with the protesters!' ....no. What Obama has to say is of no real importance to the Iranians because he doesn't have the money or the resources to back them up with any real action. Best to stay out of it for now.
  • France 2 - USA 0
This is at least the second time this year that France has gotten the drop on us. The first time was when their ship got captured by Somali pirates at about the same time ours did. France staged a rescue and took back their ship while Obama was still sitting on the sidelines. This is getting embarrassing.
  • Iran
President God didn't say a thing until His People stuck their toes into the water.
That should tell you all you need to know about the weakness of His character.
  • Suppressing Ideas...
"As I said in Cairo, suppressing ideas never succeeds in making them go away."

    Tell that to ABC news.
  • france
i guess can call them "french fries" again?
  • One has to wonder....
if what is going on in Iran has anything to do with the Obama's willingness to reach out to Middle Eastern countries.

The protesters are mainly middle and upper-class citizens. They want control back from the hardliners who are hell-bent on producing WMDs.

I wonder if Bush were still president whether the protesters would be protesting or would they allow the hardliners to carry on enriching plutonium to fight the Zionist and prideful American Imperialist (<- that's how they view us).

I didn't vote for Obama and I think his economic policies are disastrous. I know many have criticized him for reaching out to our enemies, but many of our enemies have large numbers of people that disagree with their leadership like we have in the US.

I have to wonder. I also know that if something positive comes out of Obama trying to reach out, he'll never get credit for it from the right.
  • Some 'Change' is good...
Here is an example of a well educated, fairly sophisticated population who isn't buying into the garbage the Mullahs spew. It should embarrass the Iranian clerics as well as most of the bordering nations to have these people dare to speak out against tyranny. I hope they are strong enough to overcome the brutality of the 'Revoultionary Guard' and the moronic followers of the current leadership. Not surprisingly, the women have more courage and stamina than the men do! Bully for them. If they see the rest of the world is clearly supporting their cause, it may strengthen their resolve and force the second revolution to put Iran in the 21st century with most of the world. Waiting for the chance to sing 'Kumbayah' with the little twerp, who we can bet stole the election, isn't effective foreign policy. Maybe a friendly 'nudge' from the West or a well timed strike by Israel would push the whack jobs out for good. Then the best of Iran can stand up and show waht they can do.
  • Obama isn't blind
to the images in Iran. What is happening is an "Iranian Tea Party.' A prelude of things to see in this country, soon?
  • Yeah, right.
Like the Iranian people are going to calm down now that the almighty Obama has spoken.
  • Iranian Election
It's pretty sad when the French show more guts than the US President.
