If you read enough of somebody, you get a feel for their style and even their moods. Nicely done! It has been hard to tell people on either side how I feel about being conservative but being let down by Republican leadership. It's wholly unrealistic to expect the party to be held up soley by the Christian Coalition or to stand strong by appealing to everybody, ala the DNC. Collin Powell seems to think we have to water the party down.( and no, people don't want to pay more taxes, Mr. Powell!) It's watered down enough already. Pat Buchannan wants to see it take a hard right turn. There are a bunch of us, myself included, who feel the Libertarian Party offers a haven for disaffected conseravtives. It certainly doesn't help to have Mark Sanford meltdown and other former high profile types stumble. Hey, we're all human. When you are in public office, act like you're in public office, not at a frat house! But the state of the union where the Republicans is concerned is like a McCartney tune..."Band on the Run". The upside, the Democrats are bungling along and dragging the country into the abyss. At some point, everyone will get tired of their act. By then, the young man( the 14 year old )who shone so brightly at GOPAC may be old enough to run for office.
