During his press conference yesterday, Barack Obama tried to articulate his position on government-run healthcare. Are you buying this?

Now we are getting stories of "brain drain" from companies like Citigroup and Bank of America. It was only a matter of time before the talented people realized the miracle of government.

Question: how many years did it take George Bush to run up the same budget deficit already reached by Barack Obama?

A $105.9 billion war-funding bill stuffed with all that pork Barack Obama said he was going to get rid of.

Obama wants to sign a UN treaty that says children have basic rights to education, health care and protection from abuse. Oh gawd.

Only government would spend $200,000 to promote ... tap water.

The ACLU is suing on behalf of two Muslim inmates in federal prison who say they aren't allowed to pray in groups as often as their peaceful, serene religion of Islam commands.

The Heritage Foundation believes that the CBO grossly underestimated the cost of this cap and trade bill. Here are the hairy details.

What others are saying

  • Lent Visor
Are you sure you aren't Copyleft?

Do you know the difference between child abuse and government interference in parental rights?

We already have laws on child abuse. How about enforcing those.
  • T-Shirt Doc
Should change your name to "Link-king"
    :)
  • UN Convention on the Rights of the Child
Because educating children and keeping them healthy and safe is something the government should never become involved in, because as we all know the free market will do it and if it doesn't the kids obviously deserve to suffer.

Oh, wait, that's a load of crap.

Or wait, we just need to preserve our sovereignty and our national right to permit child abuse! Showing international solidarity and adhering to universal moral standards is evil and communist.

    Oh, that's also stupid.

I hope he signs the treaty. Only the United States and Somolia (the small government traditional values paradise) have not.

However, many of the involved countries flagrantly violate the convention, so the Republicans don't really have to worry about the horrors of available education, healthcare, and safety being forced upon them by the evil UN.
  • Frank's bible quote
Sorry Frank but you take that out of context. Jesus was talking about the religious people who pray as a public spectacle just to pawn themselves off as servants of God.
    "16Rejoice evermore.

    17Pray without ceasing.

18In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."

    1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

God enjoys communicating with us at all times if the purpose behind it is correct.
  • Poor, pitiful Sprinkle!
Well excuse me Ms/Mr sparkle, I didn't know it was against the law to actually be able to think for myself, unlike most who blog here!
When you have nothing intelligent to add to the conversation folks like you always revert back to your playground days in grade/junior high school!
At least you have your own cartoon channel on 24/7,Fox News to fall back!
It must be tuff being a right wing hypocrite lately, with Ensign, now Sanford further kicking your Repub brothers and sisters down even harder than the past election did!
    Get a life!
  • MikeS
So two wrongs make a right?

They both suck. And actually, the sucking (gonna regret that) goes back further than either! So let's kick everybody out and start over.
  • UN child protection treaty
The latest on this treaty that Obama will sign supposedly has a provision in it that homes with children in them will not be allowed to have guns in them, as this will endanger the children.

    Anybody heard anything on this?
  • Sorry Frank
Just wondering if you were actually the congressqueen and noted sodomite Barney Frank. Your opinions seem to parrot the socialist/daily kook/demoncrap talking points. Mea culpa.
  • Obama's deficit
Look, I'm not going to excuse Obama's profligacy. But to blame the entire 2009 budget on him? Do you guys remember that TARP passed under *Bush*? Or the structural deficits in Medicare that Obama's been saddled with?
  • Google: Iraq War funding in Bush's budgets
    Gavin Volaire,
    Google the following:
"Iraq War funding in Bush's budgets"
There's plenty of info in those following articles. The one I quoted is in the 2nd article.
  • What's your point?
    sparkle plenty,
No it isn't,so what's your point?
  • Hey Frank!
Your first name wouldn't happen to be BARNEY would it?
  • globlal tax on poverty
this is from a year or two ago. and we don't to worry about it due to the depression. but i can assure you, once the USA gets back on its feet, watch out.

  • Bush War Budgets
Frank, can you post that link again? it didn't work, neither did adding the w's, a search for the actual page name or a search a few phrases.
  • We will not make you change healthcare plans
No, they won't. What they will do is remove all tax breaks for company sponsored health plans and make it impossible for your company to pony up an additional $10k per year as a benefit for your healthcare. Then, the insurance companies have no obligation to even accept you in a health plan. Your health insurer of last resort will be whatever the government offers. THAT is how the government moves everyone from private health insurance to government health insurance.
  • quotes
Easy confidence - guilty as charged.
Bashing - really? Was it calling their customs "things", or the mess/study group comments that did it for you?
I could have added "that bombing thing" to the list, so please give me some props on that if you don't mind. Just so you know, Mark Twain is right and I do have problems with many aspects of my own religion - I'm just saying that if I want to pray in public I can get away with it with a furtive "Hey God, how's it going?", and I'm done for the day. I don't have to stop in my tracks and do that whole mecca thing (oops, there I go again).
  • Islam
What would it take to have Islam officially recognized as a cult and stop recognizing the murderous bastards as belonging to a peaceful religion? Well, I suppose this would be very difficult since our honest and fair elections produced a professed Christian that declared the United States as the largest Muslim nation in the world.
  • $10,000,000 for Cambodia - our tax money?

  • Bashing one's religion!
    ShutinDown,
"The easy confidence with which I (You, Shutindown) know another man's religion is folly teaches me to suspect that my own is also."
    Mark Twain
  • What God says
That's true enough Frank. For most religions a brief and private communication is enough, and hardly if at all noticeable to bystanders. But it's pretty hard for muslims to sneak in a quickie to allah - they've got that whole rug thing going on and that 5 times a day thing and that foot washing thing and that on-and-on Hallmark card of a prayer - it's a mess. But we have seen where provisions have been made by some airports and schools to accommodate them, as hiding in a closet for a few minutes just won't cut it. So just make it the same for everybody - no religions of any type in the public place. The funny part is, only the muslims will be hamstrung by this since everyone else can pray in a very non-physical, non-noticeable way. It'll kind of be like doing the naughty in a public place with the thrill of possible discovery without actually being caught.
You wouldn't want muslims to get preferential treatment just because they have this "study group" mentality when it comes to prayer, would you?
  • budget
oh my god, obama imploding would be SWEET!!!

how is barbara boxer going to say "i don't want to see....blah blah blah" when it's a bill for the troops? if you don't want to see it, submit a bill that deals with it then, rather than trying to tack it onto something that has nothing to do with it. way to make a comeback to the news, beeotch.

i hope n korea launches a missile right at the capitol building while these idiots are in session. holy crap.
  • to Steve D
yeah, the global warming that isn't happening...Here in southern Idaho, we've have below normal temps for the past month, and 330% of the rain we usually get.

Normally right now, it's in the 90's to 100's. Instead, I'm sitting at the table, wearing 2 shirts in 55 degrees. Ain't no global warming here, Skippy.
  • yesterday iran
you had neal castigated obama for not doing enough about iran. i guess neal wanted Mir-Hossein Mousavi elected.

so neal wanted a leader of terrorism to gain power.

    http://blogs.cqpolitics.com/spytalk/2009/06/mousavi-celebrated-in-iranian.html

seems like neal ain't as intelligent as people seem to think
  • Maybe not Brain Drain
Are we sure it's really "Brain Drain" and not the those who created the financial mess running before someone calls them to the carpet for their previous actions?
  • Badly run financial companies and their "Brain Drain".
If a CEO who gets paid 10's of millions in total compensation per year to make bad decisions and drive his company into the ground is what we call a "brain" then we are in a pretty sad shape. Maybe the government should have let private companies like Bank of America, Citigroup, and AIG die instead of spending trillions in bailout to rescue them. And then we complain about a mere trillion spread over 10 years for health care reform. At least in the latter case the people actually get some benefit for their tax dollars. All we got for our TARP payouts to the banks were higher banking fees and closing HELOCs.
  • Muslims in Prison
The kid gloves we treat these neanderthals is sickening. If I were in charge, first thing to be taken away would be the Koran. Where is there a right to their Koran?

Think about the stupid logic here: What is the number 1 reason that drove them to commit terrorist acts which resulted in them being sent to Gitmo? The obvious answer is their reading of the Koran and their religion. So what do we do? In prison, we give them the very thing that drove them to terrorism, the fuel to the fire, the Koran!! Are we stupid? That is the equivalent of giving a child porn magazine to a imprisoned serial child molestor. Are we insane?

  • What God says about public school prayer Cornporn!
    Jubilation T. Cornporn @8:51
"When thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the "HYPOCRITES" are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you,They have their reward.
But thou, when thou prayest, enter thy closet, and when they hast shut thy door, pray to the Father in secret: and thy father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly." (" my emphasis)
Gospel of Matthew, Chapter 6,verses 5-6
Looks like God prefers the government and the ACLU way of prayer, doesn't it?
  • @By Frank @ 06/24/09 08:44:29 AM
Is that true? Obama's budgets includes war-funding where Bush's budgets did not? Anyone have a link to a credible story on this?
  • Brain Drain?
OK - TARP is fundamentally wrong. So is government influence on pay. Together, that's simply what you get, though.

Here's what is wrong with Boortz's postion on this, with many others.

Brain drain? Boortz will call employees that do not successfully perform "losers." Unless of course they have the "CEO" badge pinned to their foreheads.

Is it really a brain drain if a CEO of a failed company needing government assistance leaves?

Looks like we have different standards of success applied to the private sector dependent on titles if you ask Mr. Boortz.
  • Prisons and UN Treaty
I think I had mentioned this treaty about a month ago, it can also be used to determine that forcing your child to attend your church is considered abuse. So if they don't wanna go, you as a parent, cannot force them! Watch and see, it's already been tested in court once.

As far as the Muslims in prison, how about we take all religion out of prisons and stop those recruiters from visiting and signing convicts up to their cause.
  • Google
BTW, did any of you notice yesterday that Google had a link under the search box titles something like "Click here to find ways to volunteer". The link took me to a glowing video of Michelle Obama telling us all how important is to give back and volunteer. This was right on Google home page, one of the most visited sites! d
  • Climate Update
It's 9 AM in Green Bay, WI, 88 degrees and steamy. This is why I don't live in Atlanta. Oh, wait, I don't have to. I get home delivery now. Must be all that not global warming that's not happening?

ACLU better take a back seat for the hanging. ahead of them you'll have the Justice Department. its saving the royal family in saudi arabia by having classified American intelligence documents destroyed. this is our own government.

  • OBozo getting a little unraveled
Just a few tougher questions yesterday and OBozo started stuttering and yammering. Man, it is clear that this guy doesn't like to get in a tough debate! If only the media were not part of his administration and pressured him like they did Bush, this man would literally implode in front of his teleprompter. After being asked a tough question, he has this look on his face of "How dare you aske me that?"

If I were FoxNews, I would blast him at every news conference with tough and relentless questioning. He blasts FoxNews anyways, so why shouldn't they go after him?

After OBozo said some tougher words on Iran yesterday, Major from Fox News asked him "What took him so long?"!!!! Bozo nearly swallowed his teleprompter.
  • Liar at it again....
Did you guys see when some reporter actually asked him a good question yesterday: "Won't the public option in effect run the private HC companies out of business?" OBozo got a little testy and said something like, "That doesn't make sense. You guys say that govt can't do anything right, then why do you think govt will run the private sector out."

Either this jerk is a complete economic ignoramus or a sociopath so hell bent on getting his socialistic programs passed that he can lie with such ease.

When OBozo said the other day, ""If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor, period. If you like your health care plan, you'll be able to keep your health care plan, period. No one will take it away, no matter what." He is again using the language to manipulate and make everyone seem like he is fair. But that pathetic statement is like telling a Dutchman living below sea level that once we remove the dikes, "if you like your home, you'll be able to keep your home, period." The private health care industry will drown if forced to compete with what is termed "a public option."
  • can you find Waldo?
"MILLIONS of homeowners hoping to take advantage of government-guaranteed mortgage refinancing..."
Anyone else see the problematic word in this excerpt from the NYP article?
Hmmm, I've got my 4.875 re-fi in the bag, and I did it all by my little own self. In April. Now, keep in mind that you have to take the initiative to shut off the TV, make the phone calls, fill out the paperwork, transmit the faxes and emails, lots of followup, back and forth, back and forth - it's a royal pain in the a$$ when you get right down to it. And, yes, you do need a good credit score to do this. Let's see now, how does one achieve and maintain a good credit score.........
Could that be personal responsibility and living within your means to begin with? Naw, couldn't be that.
  • Global Warming
I found an annual (black eyed) cicada yesterday and this is a little early in the year for that.
Other people have seen them in this country (NY state) and now they are saying it is global warming.
    So it is true.
  • Muslim terrorist prisoners
I am getting sick of all these 'rights' bestowed upon the wonderful, serence relgion of Peace & Decapitation. What is so special about their religion that they can have their way whenever they cry hard enough? I assume if a group of Jewish prisoners (as an entire group probably doesn't exist, use your imagination here...) would be denied if they were to request a larger meeting place in which to study. Triple-ditto that fr prisoners who wanted to read the Bible or pray to Jesus.

Why is it the Murdering-Muslims always ALWAYS get a pass from the left? This is a religion whose followers shoot fleeing children in the back and kill their daughters for desiring a boyfriend.
Islam will doom this planet if we continue to let it run amok.
  • Brain drain
Look folks. This brain drain has been going on for some time. It is due to government taxation to pay for social programs and for regulation to limit freedom.

Roger Gallo wrote about this in his book, "Escape from America", and he wrote about this in the 1990's.

I too am making my plans to Escape from America since the American people have elected a hard core socialist for president.
  • Health Care
Obama wants to run the health care system like our great government school system. Everyone will be expected to use at taxpayers expense. But if you want to work, you will have to find a private source at your expense.
  • Brain drain
It shouldn't come as a surprise...
the gov has been draining the brains of school children for decades.

The number of those who have the ability to think on their own are dwindling. America is slowly but surely becoming a nation of gov created zombies.
  • Praying in schools,always could!
    Retired Major,
Hate to inform you but you can pray 24/7 in any school in this country. No one, even the ACLU has stopped anyone from praying privately anywhere.
Did you leave the word "Drum" off your username?
  • Re: Obama wants to sign a UN treaty that says children have basic rights to education, health care.
t's NOT a right if SOMEONE ELSE has to pay for it.
  • ACLU suing on behalf of two inmates in federal prison denied freedom to pray in groups
Are public school children ("day prisoners" of the government) entitled to the same freedom?
  • Obama wants to sign WHAT w/the UN???
This is some sort of twisted Boortz joke, right? "Obama wants to sign a UN treaty that says children have basic rights to education, health care and protection from abuse."

You gotta be effing kidding me. Isn't that just so mindlessly liberal Dumocrat? What the h-e double L is the UN going to do to enforce anything (besides stealing from hard working and "rich" Americans via taxes) on these so-called abuses? This worthless group that the mindless libtard left loves so much can't even stop genocides in Africa, yet we are to continue to give them our money like there's no tomorrow? And believe you me, there WILL be no "tomorrow" if these collectivist liberal Dumocrat asshats running Washington continue down the path of fiscal and corporate destruction they started over two years ago with the Pelosicrats taking over Congress. And you pinheads on the libtard left won't be able to blame BUSH for it!
  • And the President said ...
As a politician, our Fearless Leader spake the literal truth, thus cannot be called a liar.

There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics (attributed to a dead politician named Disraeli).

He didn't do it (Congress did it), it didn't happen on his watch (as President - even though he may have voted for it as a Senator).
He's going to cut the deficit in half (from 4 times bigger than he inherited to only 2 times bigger).

Wink, wink, nudge, nudge - politician at work.
  • "Brain drain" & "government-run healthcare"
Now that BO and his administration has destroyed the financial institution just wait until BO destroys health care in this Nation. "Brain drain" of the medical professionals who refuse to be jerked around by these idiot Marxists. Government doctors appointed to treat us slaves by the liberals will be the best witch doctors available.
  • Re: Now we are getting stories of "brain drain" from companies like Citigroup and Bank of America.
    Who is John Galt?

[Get used to hearing that a lot With The Obamatolla as our 'ruler']
  • Did Bush include the war funding in his budgets?
At least Pres. Obama is upfront with his budget including the war-funding in it, unlike Gunga-Din Bush who didn't include one thin dime of war-funding in any of his budgets! Take away the almost 1 trillion dollars used to fund Iraq/Afagah quagmires and the budget deficit would be cut in half!
  • ACLU's jihad against America
And when can we prosecute the ACLU to be aiding and abetting terrorist organizations and hang these vermin, traitors that they are?
  • Muslim terrorists in prison
Screw those 2 terrorists that want to harm our country. Both are guilty and I don't give a rat's behind about the ACLU wanted them to have their little prayers 5 times a day. Where was the ACLU when my prayers were taken out of high school??
