Tax cheat Timothy Geithner faced a Senate panel yesterday, doing his best to try and sell Obama's financial regulation plans.

Politicians without a sense of humor.

Here's a little background on what's currently going on in Iran.

And on Iran Krauthammer says that Obama is clueless. Just on Iran?

Ohhh look! A health care bill! Let's dissect it!

Is the sticker shock starting to set in on ObamaCare? From The Wall Street journal.

Our wonderful teacher's unions are targeting our military. We could take great strides toward saving our country by eliminating teacher's unions. Today would not be too soon.

The Democrats are calling the Republicans hypocrites because they voted against the latest war funding bill that they had previously supported. Republicans supposedly voted against the bill because it contained money for the IMF.

Conservatives are taking a page out of the Democrat playbook to fight healthcare reform? Say it ain't so!

Barack Obama: "In some countries a single-payer health care system 'works pretty well.'" Media: "What countries?" White House: "We're not really sure." Gotta love it.

Rep. Charlie Rangel does not want to use Obama's international tax proposals to fund healthcare reform.

See if this logic from our president makes any sense to you: "If we are growing at a robust rate, then we can pay for the government that we need without having to raise taxes."

Uh oh Experts warn that a new wave of mortgage foreclosures may be coming soon and could rival the default rates for subprime mortgages.

Not only is Obama having to explain the firing of Gerald Walpin, apparently there is debate over the firing of another Inspector General.

Speaking of Gerald Walpin, the latest from the White House is that firing Walpin was an "act of political courage."

According to Investor's Business Daily, this global warming bill will be a jobs killer. Exactly opposite of what Obama and the Democrats are touting.

White House Press Secretary has a response from the latest criticism from George Bush: "We won." Yeah but you weren't running against Bush.

Just as a reminder, do NOT refer to Barbara Boxer as "ma'am." I have a few suggestions, but it seems as though she would like everyone to go with "senator." Gawd, what a b .. well, you know.

The White House recently issued a new federal report on climate change. Here's the analysis, and guess what? It misrepresents its own research.

Government officials in Maine have nothing better to do than to outlaw the word "squaw" because it is derived from a word that is offensive to American Indians.

You knew that articles like this were coming people are sad that their towns don't have enough money to celebrate the Fourth of July, canceling their fireworks shows.

Rhode Island is the third state in the nation and the first on the East coast to allow marijuana sales to chronically ill patients.

The Senate passed a resolution apologizing for slavery and racial segregation in America. So, which one of these Senators had slaves? Otherwise, why would they need to apologize?

What others are saying

  • Boxer and Apology Crap
It is military tradition to refer to inferiors by their rank, so calling her Senator would have been an insult but hey, I can see that. The military always say sir and ma'am. She is an idiot. "She worked hard", like he hasn't worked hard for his rank.

An apologize for slavery? I never owned any slaves, no one in my family ever owned any slaves so don't expect me to apologize for something so long ago that I had nothing to do with.
  • squaws
Part Creek & Cherokee from both parents; rather attenuated at this late date--I am green eyed & lily white--but the ancestry is direct & my most recent pure Cherokee forbear was a maternal great-great-grandmother. Having established that I want to go on record as being utterly EXASPERATED with whiny minority grievance mongers & their pseudo progressive enablers. GROW THE F UP, BOOBS, & DEAL WITH LIFE! IF THE NOTIONAL OFFENCIVENESS OF THE WORD SQUAW IS YOUR WORST FN PROBLEM YOU ARE EXTRAVAGANTLY LUCKY COMPARED TO THE VAST MASS OF MAN KIND, I WOULD TRADE PLACES WITH YOU RIGHT NOW.

Thanks for the opportunity to employ this forum.
  • Slavery Apology...Preposterous
Gee, 600,000 white people died to eliminate slavery within one lifetime after the nation formed. This effectively killed open slavery for the rest of the world. I should thing the nation would receive gratitude. Moreover, white America has opened the door for equal treatment of all races. Some continue to segregate themselves with their own dialect, dress, mannerisms, and political ideals, all in an effort to maintain a seperate identity while demanding that they not be treated seperately.
  • The government we NEED
Should be of minimum cost as is should be minimally interfering with the citizenry's lives.
  • Mark Levin Appearance
Good interview with Levin. Good questions and answers. We need to keep pushing FairTax.
  • The teachers unions have long looked at the military as competition for revenue dollars. That’s a big part of it.

I remember in the 80’s the dp put about a $25 billion defense budget cut in a “civil rights” bill, then blamed the GOP for not supporting civil rights when they opposed it. This IMF stunt is old sleaze for them.

The reason they aren’t sure which country’s nationalized health care works pretty well is because if they did, it would give opponents a target to pick apart.

Nothing wrong with what hussein said about growth and revenue, except it’s what the GOP said for years (and actually did in the ‘90s), and the dp ridiculed. His idea of what constitutes, “…the government that we need,” is radically different from mine, and he obviously has no clue what causes us to grow at a “Robust rate.”

Claiming attorney client privilege between Treasury and a financial institution it’s bailing out to justify withholding documents the TARP IG needs to do his job shows hussein’s talk of “transparency” and “accountability” was just that, talk. Part of the reason the administration couldn’t provide info on where the TARP money has gone so far when asked recently, is because they are stonewalling the IG responsible for doing so. Be careful not to get whiplash trying to watch the msm flip standards from the Bush years.

Speaking of which, imagine the msm reaction if the Bush administration had answered a question like that with, “We won.”

Good thing I’m not ever likely to testify before boxer. How does “Pompous *ss,” work for ya barb? That's the latest title you earned. I’m sure becoming such an elitist snob was very hard work, but keeping the hypersensitive insecurity at the same time must have been even more challenging. I never could resist tweaking people like her, even when it's expensive. Life's too short not to.

An American Indian word is offensive to American Indians? Their ancestors must be rolling in their burial grounds over what wusses some of their descendants have become.

Politicians love to apologize for things they didn’t do, but just try to get a straightforward apology from one for something they did do. Good job playing dead GOP, know any other tricks?

Betty, think Frank Drebin when you watch biden and you can laugh at him instead of getting creeped out.
  • "Squaw"
While reading the WSJ story about renaming the street to my Native American (otherwise known as Indian) husband, he paused when I got to the statement from Mr. Bisulca, relating his distress at being called a "Squaw-Boy" as a child. My husband suggested that perhaps if Bisulca stopped acting like a Squaw boy, people would stop calling him one.
  • johnw
No one has the "right" to be called senator!
  • July 2,1967
    Talkmaster,
It must have been really tough on you coming back to Atlanta on July 2, 1967 to face a future without much hope! After all, flunking out of college,no job,a pregnant wife and riding Greyhound all the way from College Station,Texas(how long did that take?)!
  • slavery, again
Which Senators had slaves? I'd check Robert Byrd. He's old enough.
  • Apology
I wonder if this apology takes into account the fact that blacks were the only ones willing to sell their own people on a wholesale basis, a substantial number of freed slaves owned slaves themselves some in the triple digits, reconstruction was responsible for segregation more than anything when blacks who were uneducated and clueless were running the south and running wild across the countryside. Well they say history repeats itself and we are seeing that now. Bet quite of few of the ones complaining about slavery would have owned them themselves if they had been free in the old South.
  • @By Club-a-Liberal @ 06/19/09 08:56:41 AM
Gotta hand it to you, well said on your apology demands. LOL.

The sad part about this official apology is that it passed unanimously. Where were Hannity’s Republicans on this one?

Still no date set on his waterboarding fundraiser for "the families of the troops," btw.
  • That Woman in Kansas
Thank you, Kansas. I just never heard anyone complaining enough to warrant federal government intervention. working for everything i have has kept me in the "cave" overtime.
  • BG Mike Walsh
I got to know Mike when he was at Ft. Mac, serving as Commander for the SE Region of the Army Corps of Engineers. He is, and always will be, an officer and a gentleman. I just hated (yes, hated) the way she treated him. He earned his rank.
  • Political Courage
In related news, up is now down, black is white, and Obama is well qualified to be president.
  • Call Me Senator
I had a yankee boss once who hated being called "sir." He saw it as a term reserved for elderly people. He actually said "...cut out that 'sir' crap. It's disrespectful." What was my conditioned response to being reprimanded? I said,"Yes, sir."
  • We won
This we won comment sounds like something a grade schooler would say. As far as it being a repudiation of Bush it is more a repudiation of things caused by the Democrats that they managed to blame on Bush. Also the Sept. surprise run on the banks which I think was rigged. Strange so many rich people would suddenly start a run on the banks independently. A setup by Soros to assure a Democrat victory. Also the assault on Sara Palin. They were more worried about who would be second in command than who would be in command. Having Biden as President gives me the creeps. He acts as if he is borderline senile and Obama, well his actions speak for what happens when the press doesn't even try to do its job.
  • Barbara Boxer....
... the General should have said, "No Ma'am, I prefer to exercise military protocol and will continue to refer to you as ma'am" ... God help us, another female on a power trip. I bet she got all squishy at the chance to talk down to a military man.
  • Boxer
The General should have pulled a line from "A Few Good Men" and retorted, "and the Senator will call me General or Sir, I know that I've certainly earned it."

Senators seem to forget that they represent the people. They didn't earn anything, it was conferred to them on terms to uphold the values of Americans. She makes it seem as if it is a title of nobility when in fact, it is a title of servitude. Typical politician.
  • Federal Reserve bank's Inspector General
this isn't plastered on every news channel is because the big banks who make up the federal reserve are also running the news services.
  • "If we are growing at a robust rate, then we can pay for the government that we need without having to raise taxes."
That would be a true statement if 1) someone were actually controlling spending, and 2) we had any hope of robust growth. In the article President Obama seems to be fearmongering again, implying that a failure to pass his agenda will result in higher taxes.
  • Fearmongering and the Apology
The White House is using fearmongering in the global warming issue. No surprise there.

On a different subject, if the Senate could find a living former slave, then they could apologize to that person. This is the first step towards reparations. How do you pay reparations to dead people? If you have already received unearned money from the taxpayers (none of whom has ever kept a slave) via the government, will that amount be deducted from your reparation payment?
  • slavery
The Senate isn't apologizing for the distant past, their apologizing for the near future.
  • To Kevin
    Kevin,
The problem is that people think they have a right to any and all healthcare available, whether they can afford it or not. Does that help?
  • health care
without using words like socialist, et al, could someone tell me the true core problem with health care and why it needs to be fixed. sorry to be so ignorant, but the word on the street is calculus and i've barely mastered my times tables. help me understand, please. thank you.
  • Have You Seen This??
You may have talked about this recently, but just in case you haven't seen this video, you will be stunned!

I know Ivan will love it!! Here is Alan Grayson (Democrat-FL) actually doing a great job questioning the federal Reserve bank's Inspector General!! This lady is a complete incompetent, unprepared, clueless dolt. This is stunning! Why isn't this plastered on every news channel?????

    Here is the link:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJqM2tFOxLQ&feature=channel

Boortz - Why don't you talk about this??? How do we get this to Boortz, Hannity, and Rush to play it over and over?
  • "we won" may bite'em in the butt
I sure as hell hope the politicans on the other side are paying attention and remember about this "we won" attitude that this load of liberal leaders is using to slap down opposition and justify anything they do.Obama is setting a precedent for future administrations to do the same. If democrates ever lose office(only if obama doesnt accend to godhood)I think the"WE WON so just shut the #@%*-UP!" style of governing could be very common.Obamas set the standard for all time. So much for anymore of that useless reaching across the aisle or bi-partisan governing.I hope to see the tables turned in a few years(if we're still here)
  • Senator Boxer
Military folks are taught to use the terms Maam and Sir throughout their careers. Even the E1 address' a Four Star General in such a manner, not to mention the President. Ms. Boxer has worked hard to get to where she is, but apparently likes to wear her title. By the way, if she was thinking so much about the title, was she even paying attention to the content?
  • National Healthcare Is a World Wide Failure in Large Countries
There is a great article in the January 2005 issue of The Journal of Law, Medicine & Ethics about healthcare rationing in New Zealand, a nation which was once the poster child for government health care. The problem is that the cost of healthcare has outstrip the funds available, so government healthcare “specialist” are deciding who receives what kind of care instead of doctors. It is also interesting that New Zealand’s poor are being mostly impacted by this process since it was the goal of ensuring that healthcare was available to that nation’s poor which propelled the whole nationalization of healthcare.
  • Barbara Boxer
Neal points out that no male senator would have done that. Well, neither would most women. This isn't a male/female issue, it's a question of whether you are there to do a job or to impress everyone with how important you are.
  • Government Education
The current political climate is a big part of why we are taking our kids out of public education. A year ago some did not fully understand taxes. Here is an example I gave my kids:

Rachel works hard all week and earns $10 doing extra chores. Calvin and Becky sit around and do nothing all week. Rachel and her two siblings go to the store. Since Becky and Calvin don't have money, I take $6 from Rachel and give $3 each to her siblings. Rachel still has the most money ($4). Is this "fair"? (a word usually used mostly by young children and liberals, in my experience)

NOTE: This point was more interesting since Rachel is so caring that she would have happily donated a couple dollars to each sibling if they needed the $. However, Rachel did not find the money taken from her to be "fair".
  • Mix of Comments
I hope that the people in Iran are able to be safe and secure. If they can gain more freedom, too, that would be great.

Sadly, I do expect more foreclosures as a result of significant unemployment and underemployment. The economy needs a secure, business-friendly environment to grow. What does the US actually produce to sell to other countries? (other than food and military)
  • Wow...
"The Democrats are calling the Republicans hypocrites because they voted against the latest war funding bill that they had previously supported. Republicans supposedly voted against the bill because it contained money for the IMF."

The IMF is going to get their money one way or another. The NWO agenda must move forward. The NWO is not going to let a few Republican's destroy something they worked so hard for. It is scary how the agenda stays the same no matter which party is in power.
  • Apology
OK, now that the Senate passed a resolution apologizing for slavery, I guess we won't hear blacks whine and moan about everything. I also assume that immediately upon passsage of this bill, the disproportionate amount of crime by blacks will decrease, the 70%+ illegitimate rate will decrease, they will become better educated, will begin to speak in coherent proper English, etc.

BTW, if we are all into apologizing, I am waiting for their apology on all the disproportionate amount of crime they have fostered onto the people of this nation, and all the taxpayer money they have squandered and govt has seized for them through lifetime welfare programs. Finally, I am waiting for their apology in putting this Kenyan socialist dolt into the White House.
  • Sen. Boxer & Gen. Walsh
This is a non-issue. As much as I disagree with Sen. Boxer, she has the right to be called "Senator" if she so desires ... just as much right as Gen. Walsh has to be called "General."
  • Those pathetic liberal RATs..........
Is it really any surprise that the RAT party has slipped in some IMF funds in a war spending bill and then when the Republicans scream foul by not supporting it, said RATs say the Republicans aren't supporting what they once did? God how much more pathetic can these jackals representing the left in Washington GET?

Finally, let's give it to the neo-communist State run media in the Obamanation White House and not having ONE SINGLE presenting media side that will question this collectivist disaster that the liberal RATs want, known as "Free" universal health care. Is this the way these fascist goons are going to run America? If so, we'd better wake the h-e-l-l up and vote them the h-e-l-l out. SOON. Dirty RATs.
