A group of lawmakers asked the IRS to stop imposing "excessive penalties" on small businesses that use questionable tax shelters.

Obama pitched his healthcare reform scam to the American Medical Association yesterday. He got booed.

Great Britain is pissed at the Obama administration after failing to consult Britain over the transfer of four Guantánamo detainees to Bermuda.

Meanwhile, take a look at how these are now living in Bermuda. Not bad. Remember, just weeks ago these saps were being tortured.

Republican Sen. John Thune is proposing a bill that would require the government to sell its ownership interests by July 2010 and prevent it from owning a piece of any American company in the future.

Have you been keeping up with the back-and-forth between Dick Cheney and CIA Director Leon Panetta?

On Wednesday Obama is going to release more details on how his administration plans to oversee banks and financial companies.

Barack Obama says that the upfront costs of healthcare reform will pay for itself in the long-term. But history says that will not be the case.

If you missed this one on the show yesterday ...serial killers have the same personality traits as what other group of people? I would add talk show hosts to that list as well.

The United States is going to give China "financial and technological assistance" in order to help it fight climate change.

Members of the Congressional Black Caucus say there is a lack of diversity on the Sunday political talk shows. What a bunch of race pimps.

North Dakota Senator Byron Dorgan has introduced a bill to create a nonprofit corporation to promote tourism to the United States, and it would run by implementing a tax on tourists.

Here's a headline I somewhat expected .. As the Senate's top Democrat pushes for expansion of federal hate crime laws, the Holocaust museum shooter has yet to be charged with a hate crime.

What better way for government-educated teenagers to spend the summer than to watch MTV's "16 and Pregnant."

Here it is .. the Congressional Budget Office released its estimate on the Dodd-Kennedy healthcare bill, and it is going to cost well over $1 trillion. But wait, that doesn't even include the cost of Obama's government-run insurance plan. Uh oh.

What others are saying

  • GB is pissed off
The UK is not annoyed with the US so much as the Bermudan government for whom the UK is responsible for their defence and foreign policy. It is less the US and more the Bermudans who should have been consulting with the UK.
  • "saps"
Nobody said that every Guantanamo Bay inmate was being tortured, just that it goes on in there. Get your facts straight Neil.
  • Obama has a dream?
To fund Obama's healthcare dream he sold Alaska back to Russia, and sold the Louisiana Terratory of 1803 back to France.

If he keeps spending with reckless abandon he might as well, huh?
  • re: Didn't I say you were a hypocrit?
So I'm a whatever that word is that seems sort of like hypocrite because of what Nancy Pelosi believes?

I'm not sure what's more comical: that you think I support her or that you think that would somehow make me a hypocrite. Nice try, though. Maybe one day....

To indulge you, I guess you were attempting to say being pro-choice somehow compels you to also be pro-torture? Is that what you were going for, dear? I'm not seeing the connection. Anyone else?
  • Do you really trust
These guys to decide which companies are hazardous to the financial health of our country? Ok, how about the next president? If you give one the power, they ALL get it.

  • Oh and I forgot
    (sorry webwench)

    ABC=GE=Immelt

Who else would be broadcasting from the Whitehouse!
  • Ben!
That is so confusing. MSNBC critizing their hero? Funny actually.
  • Gavin
    Go ask your buddy Nancy.

    abortion=yes waterboarding=no

    Didn't I say you were a hypocrit?
  • CBO - no More
Looks to me like oBozo will next move to have the CBO either disbanded or moved under a white house cZar... They need to stop giving out such hurtfull information.
  • Boo
What happened to the booing in the CNN article?
  • Bonds
    T-Shirt Doc:
I saw that on Glenn Beck last night in addition to an Inspector General getting fired for "asking too many questions" about an Obama associate/contributor.

Don't get me wrong, I've always been leery of our "guvment" but it's progressively getting scarier by the hour.
  • hank's brain < half
We were giving aid to Palau before they accepted the handful of Chinese Muslims who were determined to be no threat to the US. They aren't a threat. Do you understand that? At least they weren't before being detained in GITMO for years and subjected to who-knows-what kind of treatment. I haven't read anywhere that they fired on US troops in Afghanistan. Where did you hear this or are you shooting from the hip on that one, Hank?

btw, I'd like to know who floated this idea that we somehow know only 3 detainees were waterboarded. We don't know that -- we know 3 were -- we don't know the rest were not.
  • Last Iraqi in Guantánamo
    http://www.fff.org/comment/com0906f.asp
  • Has anybody noticed...
That since the teen pregnancy rate was dropping, movies and TV shows were created to make it look 'cool' again.

The more mamas on welfare (which is how most teenage mothers get the ability to raise child after child) the more people look to government for their lifestyle.

    Hmmmm.

    (code unreadable again, take two)
  • CBC Diversity
Here's a crazy thought. How about some demands for diversity within the Congressional Black Caucasus. Not only of race, of which they have none, but also of thought.
  • Congressional Black Caucus
Hey CBC, quit whining and grow up.
  • Lack of Diversity on Sunday News Shows
Maybe the reason there is not more African Americans on Sunday news shows is that they have nothing interesting to say other than reciting their being a victim of everything.
  • Congressional Black Caucus
Those people will not be satisfied until everything from the presidency on down is run by black people. Including most businesses.

"Give a man a little power and he will use it like a Ceasar" I can't remember who said that, but it seems to be a truism.

  • On-Air 9-12 daily, Neal the white race pimp!
"What a bunch of race pimps" Aren't you a "race pimp" Neal?
  • Can you back up your statement?
"A few weeks ago these poor saps were being tortured" Would you care to back that statement up with some proof Neal?
  • Gavin Voltaire
"If you had half a brain you'd be asking who used your tax dollars to lock those idiots up for years down in GITMO, not who spent a whole lot less to fly them to Bermuda. But that doesn't interest sheeple like you because Sean Hannity didn't tell you to think it."

Immodestly, I have half a brain, and I happen to notice that the Administration quietly agreed to transfer 17 GITMO detainees to Palau in exchage for the tidy sum of $200 million. That's $11.6 million a copy, with no guarantee that a year from now they won't be back in Afghanistan shooting at our troops.

This is change you can believe in.
  • To That Other Phil and JT Cornpone
Other Phil, you must have missed when he got booed. He acknowledged that the threat of getting sued causes them to practice defensive medicine, which increases costs. Then he proceeded to say what he WOULDN'T do about it (cap malpractice awards). He offered nothing in the way of curbing their need to practice medicine defensively.

JT Cornpone, I agree that the medical profession has not policed itself well enough. However, one of the problems with malpractice premiums are the number of cases that are settled out of court. That decision is up to the insurer, not the physician. Many docs are innocent of what they are accused of, and the insurance company decides it's cheaper to settle than to take the case to court. Lawyers know this, and make a killing filing bogus claims that they would more than likely lose if those cases went to trial. But the bottom line always wins out, not who is right or wrong about an allegation.

  • China Aid? Morons in Washington!!!!
Ok this one has really got me pissed off! Financial aid to China? WHO ARE WE BORROWING THE MONEY FROM TO DO THIS? THE CHINESE YOU IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!! WHO IS BUILDING ALL OUR GREEN TECHIE ITEMS? THE CHINESE YOU IDIOTS!!!!!!!!! MORONS!!!!!!!!!
  • @By Raven @ 06/16/09 08:35:12 AM
If you had half a brain you'd be asking who used your tax dollars to lock those idiots up for years down in GITMO, not who spent a whole lot less to fly them to Bermuda. But that doesn't interest sheeple like you because Sean Hannity didn't tell you to think it.

BTW, what is the latest on Hannity's promise to raise money for the families of the troops by agreeing to being tortured? Anyone? Joyce? Still think there's a chance your boy Hannity will be a man of his word or do you accept the fact that he's not a patriot, he's not a good American and he's nothing more than a self-serving, deceitful snake oil salesman that cares nothing about Republicans beyond what they can do for him and he certainly doesn't give a rip about the troops? Come to terms with that yet?
  • China aid on climate
Let's see - we're going to give China financial aid. Where are we going to get the money - borrow it from China?
  • "costs of healthcare"
The last 45 years of government quotas in hiring should show us just how unskilled the "Obama doctors" will be through political correctness.
I'll be looking to a doctor rejected by the "correctness quota hiring policies" to take care of my medical needs.
Can you say "underground medical care" for those who want quality care?
BO and his gang want this setup so he can kill off those who he cannot brainwash.
  • More breaking news
MSNBC is criticizing the Obama administration.

    So much for transparency.

  • UK & Obama
The Kenyan’s son apparently cares very little about our friends in Great Britain. I sure that this relationship will survive his foolishness until it can be repaired by our new president’s visit in 2013.
  • Britain pissed while Detainees vacation in Bermuda
What do you expect from an administration that can't pass Goverment101?
  • china to get us aid
could the arguement be made that the US is no longer a "developed country" but is now an "undeveloping country" based on wealth creation, living standards, joblessness, school standards, test scores, world status, etc. etc.. Just yesterday a story appeared about rural paved roads being turned back into gravel. that would be undeveloping. There is more of that to come. Undeveloping countries should be getting aid, not giving.
  • Breaking news
    Neal,
You might want to add this link to your reading assignments. Hell, you might want to give it it's own little area.

ABC is turning over their broadcast news to the White House so they can pitch health care.

    http://www.drudgereport.com/flashaot.htm

I'm not a fan of boycotts, but it might be time to boycott ABC.
  • Look to the future
Congressional Black Caucus better watch out, with the continuing influx of illegal aliens, blacks are becoming a shrinking % of our population! That's who they need to be worried about. Might serve them better to work WITH the rest of Americans to fight illegal alien reform that allows them to become voting members.

Oh Aedyn, seems the standing ovations were more for the malpractice reforms "O" was referring to.
  • Panetta is accurate
Panetta did not say Cheney wants people to die. He said, based on Cheney's feckless concern about his own legacy, that "it’s almost as if he’s wishing that this country would be attacked again, in order to make his point."

    Almost.
  • He got booed by a bunch of doctors!
    Whoop-dee-doodle-dee-doo! So what?
The grand, almighty, omnipotent, all-knowing O earned that BOO!

On the issue of malpractice insurance, the AMA deserves to be fetched one upside the head. Mitigating malpractice insurance premiums does not require limiting the size of the malpractice award after the fact. It does, however, require the medical profession to stand up to its responsibilities - chief among them, to get rid of "bad" doctors. Without the bad doctors, the number of malpractice claims declines, the severity of the malpractice damages declines, thus the insurance premium declines. QED. The AMA does too good a job of protecting the doctor who should not be practicing medicine. Suck it up and don't tolerate bad medicine, AMA. You can fix your own problem.
  • AMA Applause
Obama not only got booed but he also got a couple of standing ovations. (unfortunately)
  • CNN
Nowhere in the CNN article about Obama and the AMA does it mention getting booed. It does refer to several ovations. Got to love CNN.
  • obama's healthcare speech
i saw three "ovations" during his speech. saw no "boos". what am i missing?
  • tortured saps take a swim
Boortz conveniently dropped the word "terrorist" in telling us about the 4 released detainees who took a swim in Bermuda. Could it be because "they were detained by the Americans, who eventually determined they were not a threat to the United States?"

Yeah, Boortz, those saps have it made. I'm sure you'd love to trade years in lockup so you can get a weekend in Bermuda.
  • John Thune/TARP
I really want to LMAO when I read about a Senator that's having regrets over voting for that AWFUL Wall Street welfare queen bill back in the fall of 2008. Now here comes John Thune an R from South Dakota that has a bill that would require the government to sell interests in companies by next year! WOW! Hey John, you had your chance last year to not give out welfare to failing companies, buy you chose to reward failure and hand out that good ole welfare to the bankers didn't ya!
  • Bermuda Vacation for Terrorists
Who decided to use MY tax dollars to pay for these idiots to live in Bermuda?!?!?
  • politicians are sociopaths
i didn't read the word sociopaths in that article. the politicians are sociopaths along with CEOs on Wall $treet. you can read up on it here:
    http://www.opednews.com/articles/Opportunities-to-deal-with-by-Gene-Messick-081211-414.html

if your from georgia we've own own sociopath story to tell:
    http://theeprovocateur.blogspot.com/2008/12/sociopathic-politician.html
  • Hate Crimes
The Holocaust Museum shooter cannot be charged with a hate crime because the District of Columbia, under jurisdiction of the US federal government, does not recognize hate crimes. Individual state legislatures have chosen to write laws making hate crimes a more punishable act, but until the federal government does so, crimes like the museum shooting cannot be prosecuted as such.
