This is an excellent column about how wealth creation in this country is under attack thanks to Barack Obama and the Democrats.

Karl Rove on how to stop socialized medicine.

A new Rasmussen poll found that 45% of Americans want the government to cancel the rest of the spending under the guise of "economic stimulus."  Now you see why the looters were trying to rush this stuff through.

Another Rasmussen polls found that 44% believe the Constitution doesn't place enough restrictions on the government. The restrictions are there.  They're just ignored.

Any guesses as to why the unions are in major debt?  You've gotta pay the big bucks to get your man in the White House.  Now they need their payoff.

According to this Wall Street Journal article, what GM needs is a political strategy, and former AT&T chief Ed Whitacre is going to try and achieve that.  Good luck.  How about making cars we want to buy?

Charles Krauthammer explains how Fox News opened up America by crushing the liberal monopoly over broadcast media.

Personal responsibility is a thing of the past.  The only thing that matters now is how the government can solve all your problems.  I didn't have to tell you that, did I?

Have you heard about the wild power plays taking place in the New York state Senate?

The United Nations is busy drafting a new resolution to expand sanctions against North Korea.  Yeah, this is really going to show 'em.

You know things are bad when the head of the TARP oversight committee cannot tell you whether or not it is working.  They're spending all this money, and they can't tell us if its working?

Democrat Rep. Tim Ryan wants the healthcare reform bill to include meditation as a cost effective solution for chronic pain, stress, and other illnesses.

News Corp. is going to form a "diversity council" after the New York Post printed a cartoon comparing Barack Obama to a chimpanzee.

How can American chestnuts solve the climate change crisis?  Perdue University has the answer.

The question of the day: should terrorist be read Miranda Rights?  That's right, my friends.  Obama has ordered our military to read any captured Islamic goon in Afghanistan and elsewhere in the Middle East their rights.  "You have the right to remain silent ....... "  How about "You have the right to die."

Now for the real news of the day .. Miss California Carrie Prejean has lost her crown.

What others are saying

  • Miranda rights for muslims?
Hell no. These douche bags should be shot. They are not American citizens and they have no rights except to a .44 slug in their skull.
  • Tarp bailout
If they did not read the bill before the vote then how are they to know what it is supposed to do. And if they don't know that then how do you know if it is working?
  • Spelling
There are some of us in Alabama-stan that have spent time in other states & know that there are TWO ways to spell PURDUE (the University) & PERDUE (the foul, er, fowl killer)!
  • Reading Assignments
For most of the reads here, I say same stuff, new day. Most of it is sad, stupid, and even more than a little scary, but it is the world we live in today. Freedom is lost and the people, for the most part, don't give a damn. Personally I don't believe there is a way to regain what we've lost as a country other than a complete overthrow of the government. Of course that's not going to happen with so many people in this country hanging on the government's every whim and word. Harsh words maybe, but the fact remains that there is no two party system in this country anymore and voting just about any politician in right now is pointless, cause they're all the same in the end in that their only goal is gaining and/or keeping power for themselves.

The one story I will comment on directly is Carrie Prejean. The gay mafia has stuck again...:) Seriously though, the cover story of not fullfilling her contract doesn't wash. Give some details about how exactly she wasn't fullfilling her contract and I might change my mind, but from I see so far this is more than likely due to opposition of her expressed beliefs on gay marriage. Personally I say this is a debate that has no place in the political or even the public arenas and it is very shameful that she has lost the title that she earned over this nonsense, but she stood her ground and stuck to her beliefs. So I say good for her; that's the type of character that is badly lacking in the world today.
  • Karl Rove's article won't be much help.
While Karl Rove's arguments are shoud, the sheeple wil not be persuaded by them. The liberals will reject all such arguments out of hand, and the half of the country that gets more from the government than it pays will think that "free" or "cheap" medical care will benefit them.

My plan would be to "uncouple" insurance from the employer. Offer the same tax benefits to the insured as are recieved by the employer and the insured. This would create a more free market for insurance. Perhaps there could be about 5 mandated "group" plans for medical insurance: young males, fertile females, children, older men and infertile women, and senior citizens. Devide each of these groups into subgroups: obese, smokers, drug users, and othes.

This provision would be to allow those with chronic illness, like genetic diseases, to qualify for group plans.

Plans could provide medical savings options with very high deductables, and a variety of plans with various coverages and deductables.
  • NY Republicans
Ok now AP is calling the Republicans in New York "The insurgents" like they were some kind of terrorist? The Demos are just acting like the US Congress, remember when they turned off the lights on the Republicans in the House of Representatives last year?
  • Neal, it's Purdue University, not Perdue, like the chicken guy.
  • TARP and the Bailout
My daughter and her husband have saved $30K to buy a house. They made an offer on a short sale property that was listed at $149K. The bank has not responded and it has now been four weeks of waiting. No wonder the economy is still stagnant. Folks are trying to spend money, but the banks are sitting on their thumbs.
  • Is Tarp Working?
If he can't tell us whether it's working, he has no proof that it is. What happens when the TARP money is gone? Will the banks fail if the "government" stops propping them up? Is that really, in the long run, a bad thing. The process of giving birth is no picnic for the mother or the child, but it's the basically the only way to get from there to here.
  • Re: Fox News is great, but they can become even if they had some Conservative competition.
Face it, competition is the best way for people and organizations to improve.
Maybe Neal should take some of his wealth[sorry to start throwing around those terms, but I'm trying to make an important point here]
And, buy or start another network like Fox news as a competitor so they both can become dominate over the Statist Run Media.

No one else is using MSNBC or the other embarrassments known as the SRM, maybe a little competition will be fun to watch.
  • Rep Take NY Senate
Funny how for the past 10 years when Democrats took Jim Jeffords or Arlen Spector from the Republicans they never had a problem with switching the balance of power. Now the republicans take a page out of there book in New York and they want to go to court over it.
  • Socialized Medicine – It's not a right if SOMEONE else has to pay for it.
And forget about the 'trial by jury' or court appointed attorney nonsense. That's a case of the individual being protected from the government. Not an open ended need that knows no bounds.
  • Terrorists Miranda Rights
You have the right to scream in pain.

You have the right to beg for mercy as soon as you tell us how many innocent Americans your friends plan to kill and how.

If you wish to have an attorney present, I'll lock him up in Gitmo and throw away the key for him, too.
  • It's Purdue - Not Perdue
It's Purdue University - home of the Boilermakers and one of the best Engineering and Agriculture schools in the nation - named after John Purdue who donated the land. Perdue is the Chicken Guy and governor of Georgia. Please make the appropriate corrections. Thanks
  • socialize medicine
i'm amazed that the only people who have free medicine in this country are immates in jail and "terrorists" at guatamoro.

    that's kinda odd, isn't it?
  • Email sent to my Senators
I didn't find a good category so picked Business. But I write to you. A lot. And I gotta tell you "the natives are getting restless". I hope every one in Congress is aware that there is going to be a HUGE turnover come midterm elections 2010. The American people don't feel like anyone in Washington is listening to us. Too much spending, too much trampling of the Constitution. We are appalled that the Supreme Court did not find it worthy to hear the Chrysler bankruptcy case. That just opened the door for President Obama to push his facist agenda.

You have been open in our communications and for the most part I have agreed with your voting. But please communicate to your colleagues that campaigning in the spirit of "we now see the light" is just not going to get it. If they have not previously had a record of small government, they will be kicked out, regardless of party. That is the push out here in the grassroots of America. We don't believe either party anymore. We can no longer tell the difference between Democrats and Republicans. So we believe we need to start over.

    Good luck

if you aren't doing something similar to the above, don't be surprised
  • Cartoon depictions
When Mr Bush was in office we had daily depictions of this man with oversized ears etc [chimp looking] and now we have a leftist temporarily in the white house, He is suddenly off limits to satire? I personally cant wait until this whole obama mess is over. I can still remember all of the left wing attacks against the entire Bush family. Look what happens to anyone who goes against the [mistake] obama. The howlers come out of the cracks. LOL. I am on vacation this week so I will think about you all when I am relaxing.
    SEMPER FI
  • Rasmussen
Yes, we are being ignored. It will cost them in the end.
  • Miranda rights
You have the right to be executed on the spot - do you wish to NOT talk?
  • liberal monopoly over broadcast media
don't believe what neal's saying. the problem is the monopoly over broadcast media. not the liberal monopoly.
the monopoly created when the republicans deregulated the rules governing who could buy that, that, and the other TV stations.
    watch this movie:
    http://video.aol.com/video-detail/orwell-rolls-in-his-grave/4084859666
  • Miranda "rights"
Non-uniformed combatants have usually been treated to the right to be executed on the spot, or later, if found to be a spy. Rights are for people that follow the rules. If we had killed them all in Afghanistan and/or Iraq, we wouldn't have had any problem at Gitmo or Abu Ghrab(spelling?).
  • Perdue University
As a Purdue University graduate, I am DEEPLY offended that you did not spell Purdue correctly. What are you, government educated?

Or maybe you think somehow the Gov. of GA is linked to Purdue University. I guess I am not surprised you preach nothing but hate speech.

I am never listening to your show again. ;)
  • Miranda?
I am sick to death from hearing our "elected elite" talking about "bringing terrorists to justice". I don't want to bring them to justice, I WANT THEM DEAD.

And with regards to Purdue's plans for the hybrid chestnut plant, isn't the natural solution usually the best? Hmmm
  • Purdue
You spelled it wrong. Perdue is chicken.
  • Constitutional Restrictions
"Another Rasmussen polls found that 44% believe the Constitution doesn't place enough restrictions on the government. The restrictions are there. They're just ignored."

It's worse than that Neal. This shows that people really don't understand the constitution at all. The framers of this country started out with the idea that the individual naturally has ALL rights and that government has NONE. The constitution then grants certain powers to the government, while reasserting some of the most important individual rights (the bill of rights).

The framers saw the states and local government as the entities that would enact laws that would effect our daily lives; the idea being, if a State’s laws became too onerous on the people, under the constitution, they could leave one State for another, thus providing one of the greatest checks and balances to runaway government ever devised in the history of mankind. And what are we doing with this brilliant concept; we are chunking it in the garbage bin in favor of a centralized government from which there is not escape.
  • Copyleft got his wish, Miranda rights for terrorist
It looks like Copyleft got his wish.. a pre 9/11 mentality where Al-Qaida in Afghanistan and Iraq attacks are prosecuted as criminal justice acts instead of acts of war.

Well because of this, intelligence will not be gleaned from these terrorists. (It has to do with, "You have the right to remain silent bit.")
As a veteran of several campaigns on the War on Terror and knowing my enemy,(Yes I have read Sun Tzu several times), and because of this policy change, my family and I as well as many Americans will be endangered.

Sorry but Obama made the Miranda rights decision. You leftist and Moderate Republicans, can not lay this one of on Bush.

Thanks to all of you Obama voters who are making my life less safe in the US.
  • GM CARS
GM AND OTHER CAR MAKERS WILL NOT HAVE TO MAKE CARS THAT YOU "WANT TO BUY". IN ADDITION TO THE GAS TAX, A TAX ON MILEAGE TRAVELED CAN BE INSTITUTED, AND TIED TO THAT COULD BE A VEHICLE EFFICIENCY TAX PENALTY. THE LESS EFFICIENT YOUR CAR IS, THE HIGHER AND MORE EXORBITANT THE TAX PENALTY. THIS WAY, YOU COULD BE ECONOMICALLY FORCED INTO BUYING THE LITTLE BEER CAN ON WHEELS.
  • More on health care
The solution to socialized medicine is health savings accounts used with catastrosphic insurance coverage.

Last year I paid $6K in heath insurance premiums (that's my portion not including my employer), plus another $2K because of my deductible. In otherwords I spent $8K on health care last year. How much was my total healthcare bill--about $3K.

So I spent $8K for $3K of services. This is what is making mainstream america mad.

To defeat socialized medicine we have to address this issue. Medicial savings accounts would go a long way in doing that. Imagine if my expenditures was the reverse: I saved $6K in savings account, spent $2K for catestrophic insurance. Out of that $6K I paid for $3K of services, I would still have $3K saved for a bad day.

I think if this plan could be presented to mainstream American they would run from socialized medicine so fast it wouldn't make it outta senate committee.
  • Karl Rove doesn't work
Karl Roves comments about health care are right on. However, they will not resonate with most Americans ( That's the whole problem with the republican party. They cannot find ways to articulate to mainstream America).

Mainstream America is worried about access and out of pocket costs. They hate that insurance coverage is filled with all kinds of "loopholes" that end up costing out of pocket money, and sometimes a lot. Have cancer, be prepared for out of pocket expenses in the 10s of thousands of dollars.

Mainstream Americans for the most part cannot rationalize that socialized medicine will reduce access and increase cost, a lot of that is head in the sand "it wont happen here" attitudes.

I think the best way to fight socialized medicine is to start addressing the issues at the level mainstream American understands them...

Stating it as Karl has done is a lost cause.
