About 20 years ago I recall seeing something like this and being intrigued. Boy was I disappointed when I learned it was a common fraud that uses chicken guts and slight of hand.
Just like UFOs and the Bermuda Triangle, sometimes we need to be cautious about what amazes us.

If you would like a common pop cultural reference, see the film Man On The Moon about Andy Kaufman. When modern medicine was not able to beat his cancer, he turned increasingly to anything that was reputed to help people. The film showed what it is, and how it is done. It's truly sad.

I saw James Randi speak about 10 years ago and he showed the videos where he performed this illusion on the tonight show. ON a sdder note, he did mention that the great comedian Peter Sellers believed in this silliness and traveled to South America to have has heart condition treated. Not that it caused any harm, but it almost certainly kept Mr. Sellers from seeking legitimate medical help sooner.

This is an example of what I modestly call "Jim's Law of the Internet" : No topic is so obscure that it doesn't have at least one web site (or Youtube vid) dedicated to it.
One topic, as I kid I remember being grossed out seeing The Amazing Randy debunking this on the Carson show. He was pulling all sorts of disgusting stuff out of Johnny Carson....

Penn & Teller and also the Amazing Randy have debunked this stuff so many times its not funny.
Its essentially a magic trick. There is a magician's device called a thumb tip that is used to hiding chicken guts. Because of the fluid/gel like nature of skin the "surgeon" can just press his knuckles into the skin and make it look like its entering the body.
Combine that with a rag that's already soaked with bloody water and it creates a very convincing effect.
