OBAMA'S PRESS CONFERENCE

So what did you think of Obama's press conference yesterday? Maybe you were more struck by what Obama DIDN'T say compared to what he read from the teleprompter. For example, the Politico points out that his 55-minute news conference failed to include the words "Iraq" or "Afghanistan." That's not all, try the words "Korea," "Pakistan," "soldiers," "surge" and "war." No mention of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine. None of 'em. A stark difference from our previous president ... but I guess this is what Obama meant by "change you can believe in."

Anyway, I'll have my own shot at the questions. Yep, another Boortz Press Conference tomorrow at 11:05AM EST. And no ... I won't be using a teleprompter.

  • healthcare
if you think health insurance is expensive now, wait until we have government run "free" insurance. I'm sure abortions will be covered, but there will be a 10 month wait for the procedure......
  • teleprompter
it didn't look like he used a teleprompter to me. it looked like he was reading it from the podium...i saw him turn the pages and he was much more disjointed than normal. just a thought.

    forrest.......yep u r rite....thanks...

it used to be politicians had to listen to us................if they didn't some gun totin' citizen would show them the light........today it's a crime to threaten a scum sucker however.........
  • Who cares!
What does it matter we should't be in a war anyway. If it weren't for BUSH and his illegal war we wouldn't be there in the first place. The CIA took down the towers. As for Iran I don't care!!! Democracy no Democracy let them fend for themselves because it's none of our business, and thats what Obama should say.
  • to the "converts"
I've said this before, and whenever I hear from someone who has changed their mind about obama, I get it going again. First of all, nothing personal, but I have mixed feelings of anger and redemption when this happens. I'm getting better about it, but most of us on "this side of the fence" are not surprised by anything thus far. We're not clairvoyants, we're not any more intuitive than the next person - we just payed attention when it was most important to do so. That would be as far back as winter '07. What the hell were you people hearing from this guy that caused you to throw in with him? All those silly promises and fairy tale outlooks? By early Spring of '08 I knew we were screwed - Paul and Huckabee were waning - and was actually hoping for Hillary to get the nomination. It was like one of those silly kids' games where you have to declare if you would rather cut off your big toe (obama) or french kiss your grandmother (Hillary). I would have all my toes, but might be considering cutting off my tongue :)
The point is, I detested Hillary, but obama scared me into the any-port-in-a-storm posture when it became evident that the GOP was in trouble.
I try not to think about whether there are enough 20/20 hindsight "converts" that it could have made a difference from what we now have to live with. For what it's worth, welcome to the team.
  • right wingers/left wingers

That is exactly the point I had very badly been trying to make! One issue is going to ruin us! We are not looking at the big picture.

  • @ butt neckid
The politicians don't care about the Constitution because they're elected by people who base their decision on representation based on what they want done about gays and abortion; neither of which are duties expressly granted to the Federal government. So, we have a group of politicians who don't know any other routine beside pandering to the heartstrings of voters with (sorry) meaningless, hollow, no-solution social issues instead of merely minding the watchtower as they were intended to do. Our politicians are a shameful display of the most vile and contradictory core American value; the desire to impress one's perspective/morals on another. We see this in our daily lives, in our electoral process, and in our foreign policy.

What a terrible departure from the wisdom preserved in our Constitution. We should all be ashamed.

*Also not an attack on you, just a general-purpose continuation of conversation

"I am the President of the United States"

"I am the President of the United States"

Then start acting like it Mr. President. You're destroying our country from within and giving confidence to our enemies at the same time.

I don't care what you don't say, I care about what you DO say. Everything you promised us is NOT coming to pass. It's as if you said it all JUST to get into office to throw your agenda at the American people.

The biggest mistake I have ever made in the 36 years of my life is voting for you. I cannot believe I got brainwashed into believing in your "change".

We got change alright. Change that is going to completely bankrupt this country and make us weaker against those that want to destroy us.

ANYONE that threatens us with missile launches should be dealt with IMMEDIATELY!!!!

Spending money on health care reform and "BAIL OUTS" isn't going to do a damn bit of good if we're hit with a nuclear or biological weapon.

I hang my head in shame every day. Even the guys at work don't pester me about it anymore because they see the hurt in my eyes.

I will never make this mistake again.
You can take THAT to the bank Mr. President.
  • Typical Republicans and big government
Of course the repubs like Neal want the GOVERNMENT to get involved in other people's GOVERNMENTS. My guess is the republs will be wondering about the President's(GOVERNMENT) use of military force(GOVERNMENT)
  • Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer...
..will run this country into the ground with their non-energy policy.

Wind, Solar and Geothermal will never be able to provide more than 10-20% of our current GROWING energy demand. That's an optimistic estimate based on full exploitation. Conservation can save another 10% at most, leaving a minimum gap of 70% of current demand.

There is no long-term energy solution without domestic oil/coal and nuclear (and ultimately nuclear fusion). That's not oil company propaganda, that's PHYSICS!

The so-called "green jobs" they promise will be paid for by ever-increasing debt, bigger/longer energy shortages, more dependence on foreign oil, and will create a financial bubble that will make the tech and housing bubbles look like a spot of foam by comparison.

We can't windmill our way to energy independence Nancy Quixote and Steny Panza!!

Pelosi and Hoyer are further proof that the uneducated in this country should not be allowed to vote!!!
  • the teleprompter
Analyzer of ridiculous analyses. If I am not mistaken, you can see those teleprompters if you look hard enough. If you don't believe his answers are scripted you have been drinking far too much kool aid.

He uses teleprompters whenever he speaks publically (and in addition to the two, also uses a large screen at times). Check out some of his speeches on u-tube when he didn't use one. - they are simply embarrassing.

Perhaps you didn't see the teleprompters because they are 'transparent'. That's the only thing in this administration that is.
  • @ Ivan
Maybe our government and military research is coming up with this scary stuff, maybe not. I wouldn't worry too much about foreign govts coming up with this technology though - even though a few now have La Bomba, most of them are just now learning not to crap in their own drinking water, so I think they're well behind the curve on new "spacey" technology. Does that mean we shouldn't worry about our own govt dabbling with Lex Luther inventions? No reply needed - I know your answer

  • Pres Ob press conference
Not a single word about deaths in Iraq/Afghan/Pakistan on a day when drones killed 50 Pakistanis and servicement died. When a Republican was in office, the News reports gave a DAILY tally of deaths, and had questions at each and every press conferenced for over 7 years. Now... nothing. What a double standard. They neither ask about the latest deaths, nor do they demand a date when we will be leaving. Give the President a pass.

  • To Concerned Citizen
Well I don't believe in Global Warming the way it has been presented. Something is going on, but it has nothing to do with the emissions coming out of our cars. I have been reading up on the possibility that there could be a new type of weapon in use by foreign nations. Some sort of Scalar weapon. It could be space based or land based. It has to do with very high intensity electromagnetic waves. The speculation is...and believe me I know how this sounds...that the weapon has the ability to mess with the weather and a host of other things that could be effected by electromagnetic wavelengths. Some have speculated that one of our enemies could be employing such a weapon and that our military sprays barium salt aerosols into the air to combat the effects of this weapon. Sounds far fetched I know, but honestly how much do we really know about advanced weapons systems? I mean it has been nearly a century since we discovered nuclear technology and roughly 70 years since we started making nukes. What if we are now tinkering with technology that is WAY more advanced? I mean lasers and conventional bombs are old hat. What if they have a new toy?
  • A couple of points
    1. The right wing persists with the "teleprompter" thing. He does not use a teleprompter when answering questions. For his opening remarks at a press conference or most any other speech, so what if he uses a teleprompter. Other presidents have done so. CEOs of Fortune 500 companies make speeches all the time by teleprompters, and while the overall themes of the speech are directed by the CEO, the actual words are put together by a team of PR people (I work in PR & Communications with a large company and know all about how this works). If he used 3*5 cards instead, would that make you happier? Or should he spend all his time memorizing his speeches instead of attending to more productive uses of his time?
    2. Reporters ask the questions, and the president answers the questions. If no reporter asks about Afghanistan or Pakistan or the Surge, then chances are Obama will not utter those words.
    3. In yesterday's show, I bet Boortz did not utter the words "mother", "hugs", "kisses", "baseball", "kitten", "Abraham Lincoln", or "hamburger". So, I guess that means Boortz is against all these things. What an evil tyrant.
  • To Joyce M/Blythe
Yeah well these unstable middle eastern countries are actually a thorn in the side of the NWO. They will handle them in due time. It would be much better if they could just get them to fight amongst each other rather than get involved directly.
  • I love to go a'wandering...
He's the governor of South Carolina, for Pete's sake, not the leader of the free world - not that there is a leader of the free world to speak of currently. He went to Argentina in the winter (8th grade geography, people) and not during Mardis Gras.

If Governor Sanford had been involved in an accident while incognito, it might have resulted in tragedy, but, folks, he's the Governor of South Carolina - not the second coming of Christ! If he was sand blasting some Argentine babe on the beach, I'm sure we'll see the pictures in the Enquirer. Leave the guy alone.

He is just a man, although Jake Knotts - perhaps Don's younger and goofier brother - apparently has a real hard on for the governor. There is your real story.
  • sometimes what's not said matters
Copy, the implications of the unspoken word can sometimes carry more weight. Not mentioning many of the worrisome things that are on people's minds, even in brief, seems evasive, or elusive, or something like that. It's squirmy, and it's condescending. This guy is a highly paid public servant, and until we can get a qualified man or woman in that office, we'll have to get by - that's not to say we shouldn't expect comprehensive reports from him while he's pretending to be POTUS.
  • Obama turning conservative....
Maybe he didn't mention those words because he is considering a traditional conservative approach of no nation building or not policing the world to the tune of bankruptcy? A stretch I know, but its possible. Maybe someone in his admin. is coming to their senses and admitting that America with 11 trillion dollar debt cannot afford the fiscal liberalism and adventurism in trying to police the planet. Maybe someone in there(its probably not Chairman Teleprompter) is thinking maybe they should start putting America first rather than spending the country into bankruptcy with neo-colonialism and telling us America is threatened while the border remains wide open. Maybe someone does NOT want to go down the same path as the Roman and Soviet empires. Who knows? Bush was a failure as president...so far Obama has the same agenda of govt enlargement, world policing, amnesty and ignoring the constitution...where the hell is the change? Why can't we get anyone in D.C besides Ron Paul to stand up for some old school conservatism? Boortz why do you take the side of the left on foreign policy...? Where does the constitution grant America authority to police the world?

I didn't see it, but is Dummy really still using a teleprompter during press conferences??? Does he have no shame? Doesn't he realize that that fact alone telegraphs his idiocy? Maybe he's so stupid that he has no choice in the matter. If that is the case, I wish he'd just admit it. The guy would have my sympathy.
  • CO2 - water pollution
    Horse Doctor & shuttin down,

Please don't give the AGW people any more scare tactic ideas. I can just see the future newscasts:

Scientist have performed a study showing how increased CO2 can turn the rivers, lakes, and oceans into carbonated water like what you see in soda.
  • Can you imagine
How the press would have reacted if Bush did not address even one of those missing subjects? He would be considered out of touch or in denial. obama gets a pass and will probably be praised for his leadership skills or some other garbage like that. The press has outed itself, makes me want to buy a bird again so I can line the cage with their pornographic adulation of this wanna be administration.
  • You're right, Neal!
Obama should do exactly what our last President did, and both show our cards so the enemy knows what we're doing, and to also use fightin' werds, since those always effectively subdue the enemy.

I apologize for the misleading subject and sarcastic intro, all to have it lead to this... what the hell is the problem with Obama not going all Geraldo during a press session and telling the whole world exactly what we're doing?! If he HAD done that, he'd be crucified by talk radio and Fox for a supposed act of treason.

I can't stand the domestic economic policies he's putting in place, but I do agree with his approach to Iran and N. Korea... We can't afford another war, it is best to avoid one. We, as a nation, are not in a first-strike mode. We're not wealthy enough, nor desperate enough to make any threats about going into full-on war. We also can't make fabulous promises about supporting a small, yet impressive, civil uprising in Iran.

In addition to all of that, I don't see any articles in the Constitution stating that it is the responsibility of the federal government to "Secure the common defense of other Nations" so why are libertarians (what I consider myself to be, and what Neal claims to be) wanting to be all up in Iran's electoral business? It isn't our job, and it isn't the job of our government. When Iran attacks us, which they won't/can't unless we're pretty damn close to their border (giving them at least some justification) then we can retaliate to an act carried out against our military, but until then, what business is it of ours, CONSTITUTIONALLY, to be meddling in their affairs?
  • CO2 - water pollutant
Sure. You might ask "what about soda and beer carbonation?" Well, that fizzy stuff in your Coke is "magic bubble dust". Didn't you know that?
  • That politico article was hilarious.
Did anybody else get the impression Mike Allen made a mess writing that? Reading it was like intruding on something personal, some kind of perverse religious swoon.

Politico also has a page called "Politico 44 The Obama Presidency Minute By Minute," in case you're in need.

It takes real talent and skill to pile the cheese on that high, and I'm not being sarcastic. You have to admire it, but don't mistake it for news.
  • Obama needs to tell us why...
the Federal Government is pumping Barium Salt aerosols into the air. Is this some kind of defense against "global warming" or is it perhaps protection from some sort of space based weapon of some kind from China or Russia? The only thing I know is know is that Barium doesn't really agree with the human body. Over time it can have negative effects on our bodies.

  • To Turner Brown
I do not know where you post was written or by who, but I have copied it and sending it to all I know. This is the absolute best description of our problems I have seen!
  • Typical tactic
Since you don't dare address what the President actually SAID, you instead complain about and analyze what he DIDN'T say. Typical.

Gee, he didn't mention Iraq or Afghanistan in a press conference devoted to energy and healthcare? I'm shocked. Did you also notice how he didn't bring up what the family had for dinner last night?

Bryan: No, he did not imply that CO2 is a water pollutant. He said "carbon emissions that pollute our water." You know, like hyrdocarbons (i.e., petroleum byproducts) and volatile organics, and combustion byproducts that come down in rainwater and feed into our rivers and lakes. THOSE pollutants.
  • Head in the Sand
Of course he's not going to mention any issue of any importance. It is in these areas that he is in over his head.

However, he will act lightning-fast to torque it down on those naughty tobacco industry folks.

He'll deal with us naughty gun-owners next since we are clearly part of the problem.
  • Ivan!
For a second I had to wonder which "regime" you were talking about !!!

just kidding don't put me on any watch list please it was a joke really....
  • Geothermal power?
Anyone else notice his mention of geothermal power? So in addition to two equally useless (for so much power requirements) ideas like solar and wind power, we get a suggestion that requires volcanoes to run. And if not volcanoes, then at least more drilling and tearing up of the earth than we currently perform with oil consumption.

Just build nuclear plants already. How many people have died in America from nuclear power accidents? I believe "none" is the answer.
    Geothermal power...
  • Obama thin-skinned
Obama is thin-skinned and arrogant. Anyone notice his patronizing chuckle when he is annoyed?
    "Only I am president."
That statement forced any last drop of respect I may have given him away. It sounds like a petulant child demanding all the attention because his parents are paying more attention to each other.

For all his faults and terrible decisions in office, George W Bush never had to remind the world (and himself, aloud anyway) that he was president. He let his actions and whatever skills he possessed (which will be argued if he even possessed any) do his talking for him.

Copyleft is always using the word "swagger" to describe GWB's presence, but if he/she could remove the Obamagoggles then he'd be able to see what true arrogance looks like.

I bought a bird feeder. I hung It on my back porch and filled It with seed. What a beauty of A bird feeder it was, as I filled it lovingly with seed. Within a week we had hundreds of birds taking advantage of the continuous flow of free and easily accessible food.

But then the birds started building nests in the boards of the patio, above the table and next to the barbecue.

Then came the “poop”. It was everywhere: on the patio tile, the chairs, the table.... Everywhere!

Then some of the birds turned mean. They would dive bomb me and try to peck me even though I had fed them out of my own pocket.

And other birds were boisterous and loud. They sat on the feeder and squawked and screamed at all hours of the day and night and demanded that I fill it when it got low on food.

After a while, I couldn't even sit on my own back porch anymore.  So I took down the bird feeder and in three days the birds were gone. I cleaned up their mess and took down the many nests they had built all over the patio.

Soon, the back yard was like it used to be .... Quiet, serene.... And no one demanding their rights to a free meal.

Now let's see…. Our government gives out free food, subsidized housing, free medical care, free education, and allows anyone born here to be an “automatic citizen”.

Then the illegals came by the tens of thousands.  Suddenly our taxes went up to pay for free services; small apartments are housing 5 families; you have to wait 6 hours to be seen by an emergency room doctor; your child's second grade class is behind other schools because over half the class doesn't speak English.

Corn Flakes now come in a bilingual box; I have to 'press one' to hear my bank talk to me in English, and people waving flags other than 'Old Glory' are squawking and screaming in the streets, demanding more rights and free liberties.

Just my opinion, but maybe it's time for the government to take down the bird feeder.

If you agree, pass it on; if not, continue cleaning up the poop!!!
