Did you hear what the CEO of Microsoft had to say about Barack Obama's tax plans? Remember that last month, Barack Obama outlined a plan to outlaw or restrict about $190 billion in tax breaks for offshore companies. This includes companies like Microsoft. So Microsoft CEO Steven Ballmer says that his company would move some employees offshore if Congress enacted Obama's plans. He says, "It makes U.S. jobs more expensive ... We're better off taking lots of people and moving them out of the U.S. as opposed to keeping them inside the U.S."

Is anyone listening?

Now, this is nothing that both you and I don't already know. Barack Obama claims that his proposals will create jobs in the United States. Most of you who aren't government educated will understand that that is a flat out lie. Now, we have the CEO of the world's largest software company saying that he would take employees and move them overseas if Obama enacts his plan. That is exactly the OPPOSITE of what Obama claims would happen. But what does Steven Ballmer know? I'm sure the government will have its say in companies like his soon enough.

Watch .. the Democrats have plans for an economic Berlin Wall. Any jobs caught trying to climb over the wall will be shot.

What others are saying

  • Corporations
A corporation is not a patriotic entity. The corporation is dedicated to making money FOR THE STOCKHOLDERS.

If the costs of being based in America are too high, they can always shut down their plants in America (which is a tax write-off), hire new employees at a fraction of our salaries, in a tax haven, and move their entire operations off shore.
They don't HAVE to pay taxes if their headquarters is based in a foreign country. They will have, as Neal says, jumped the economic Berlin Wall and taken their prosperity elsewhere.
A smart leader would make it attractive for companies to be based in the United States. If the cost of being based here are too high, then, of course, they will go elsewhere.
What about the jobs? Plenty of jobs...in other countries.
If you tax something, it becomes scarcer. If you encourage something, it grows.
    Which is Obama doing?
  • Paganposts post
Brilliantly stated....but the united STATES died under Lincoln and was buried by FDR.....
  • @Wayne
Sure. Tax the heck out of 'em.

Who PAYS those taxes, Wayne? WE DO! Microsoft and all other corporations just increase the price of their goods to cover the extra expense caused by the taxes.

How much of our money do we have to GIVE to this government??? "Solutions" like yours only make the problem WORSE!
  • and still no ..FAIRTAX..??
so whats mr goodwrench OBAMMMMA gonna do..? arrest all of microsofts employees and charge them with conspiring to abandon their US citizenship..I shouldnt say that too loud because we all know how government loves to burn cash..what better way than to supply safe secure housing to microsofts finest..at the expense of the tax donators of course..obama doesnt care about his own family why would anybody believe he cares about this country..? FAIRTAX now..
  • Complain!!!
I called Microsoft to complain about all this off-shoring and I was assured by Mujibar in Bangalore that I was over reacting.
  • The worst part of this is...
If Microsoft moves its resources away...say goodbye to the few remaining English speaking Help Desk Reps.
  • Lexuse Libs
How correct you are Club-a Liberal. I told people yes you will make history, because this is the first time that you will vote and it will also be your last. Cause you want a king. So many sheeple. When they come looking for a piece of bread from me I'll have some-thing for them.
  • news flash from my crystal balls...........
osamabama will figger out a way to stop msft from leaving.

I can't blame any ceo/cfo for taking their bizniss off shore. I would have, but it's to late for me!

I still think the only solution for americians to save america is a revolution. NO! not a shoot 'em up bang bang type of revolution, well as a last resort, but one that throws out all, ALL scumsucking lowlife politicians.

however those more schooled than I have to set the plan in motion, I will support them with my life as I served my country while in uniform.

    our battle cry could be
DEATH TO DESPOTS, DEATH TO TAXES. yes I know you are thinking "he's finally done done it and gone plumb crazy!"

no I'm not crazy, just really pissed off.

I love my country and its ideals. I hate and fear my gubmint as it currently is being used (not just this but past administrations also) it's WE THE PEOPLE! we must regain that idea.
  • Upside
To Jake(Outsource all the jobs overseas and produce all products overseas. In the end the market will collapse because of massive unemployment in one of the world’s largest market. This is an untenable situation for the US economy, which has become a just a service based economy that shuffles the ever weakening dollar overseas.)

The UPSIDE- Imagine our carbon footprint for doing nothing!! Win!
  • To Club-a-Liberal
The politicians are in the pockets of the big banks and these huge corporations. They have already decided to write off America. In their eyes this country is over with. They will be moving off shore in advance of the collapse so they can protect their interests. This whole process reminds me of that scene from the Titanic where all the rich people get let off the boat before the poor. Well all us normal Americans are the poor and the elites are the rich. Our government is bailing them out. In the end Americans get screwed. The elite which do not consider themselves part of the unwashed will continue on to continue to do what they have always done.
  • Just Wow
Comrade Obama and his band of idiots aren't even hiding the fact that they're trying to turn us into the USSR...with the exception of trying to take over the world. And the sheeple are loving every minute of it.
  • I LOVE it.
I'm sure Ballmer, along with all of the Wall St. elites, were writing checks and eating dinners at big fundraising events for the Kenyan Ba$tard (by definition). How do they feel now? These are the ones I want to suffer from OBozo's policies the most. You see those Lexuses and Mercedes with the Obama sticker on their bumper, they are the ones I want to suffer, solely for the absolutely stupidity of not realizing that they are the ones who are going to take up the a$$ more than anyone else if Hussein's policies go into effect. They thought they were so cool being part of history. I can't wait for the policies to nail them.

That said, I agree with the point of "But what does Steven Ballmer know compare to a govt official". Maybe we should require that Ballmer along with all CEO's be required to get a license first before he can be CEO!!!

  • Don't worry.
Directive 10-289 will take care of this problem.
  • Bill Gates
Bill Gates (and his lawyer father of the same name) are raging liberals and< I am sure, strongly supported BHO in the last (and perhaps the last) election.

Hows this "Hope and Change" working out for you, Bill?
  • Thanks for nothing, Microsoft (and Silicon Valley!)
Didn't Ballmer and Jobs (Apple) donate money to Obama and help him get elected? For that matter, didn't most of Silicon Valley do the same? What do they have to complain about? They knew, or should have known coming in, that this was what Obama was about. Now that they shoved Obama on us, they realize what's going on and want to take off? Thanks for nothing, jerks.
  • Everything within the State
It blows me away to see how Obama and his jackbooted thugs are copying Mussolini's playbook for turning America into a fascist state. One of Mussolini's more famous quotes goes: "Everything within the State, Nothing without the State and Nothing against the State." Benito was referring to Italian corporations that had out of country operations. Consolidating the Italian corporations under his direction within the borders of Italy was a big factor in rebuilding Italy's economy in the 30s. The scary thing about it was the horrific loss of freedom of the Italian people. But, Hey, maybe Atlas has been shrugging for a while.
  • In the end it won't matter
Outsource all the jobs overseas and produce all products overseas. In the end the market will collapse because of massive unemployment in one of the world’s largest market. This is an untenable situation for the US economy, which has become a just a service based economy that shuffles the ever weakening dollar overseas.
  • Socialism requires walls
I would like some Democrat, aka, Socialist, to explain to me why, if socialism is such a great idea, you have to wall people in for it to work? I mean, I always hear about how if we just adapted socialism everyone would be better off. How government would take care of the poor and the needy, provide us all with “fair” housing and food and medicine. But anytime socialist get control of government, one of the first things they have to do is put up walls to keep people fleeing their wonderful utopia.

Let me approach this another way, if socialism is so wonderful, why do you have to change the meaning of the constitution in order to implement it in this country? I mean, there is nothing in the constitution that prohibits a state from being a socialist state. As long as a State doesn’t violate the constitution, it is free to organize itself any way it wants, and that includes being a socialist state.

Our forefathers understood that one size does not fit all, that one absolute form of government was always going to be doomed to failure, whether it was a socialist government, a democracy, a totalitarian regime or a monarchy, that sooner or later, any single form of government would stagnate and fail.

So what they came up with, in their infinite wisdom, was a system whereby governments (States) could compete, without resorting to force of arms. Thus the United STATES of America was born. And how our country should operate is right there in the name, a Unity of States. States that agreed to basic set of rules (the constitution) and to support a federal government that was charged with provided the States with a common defense and would handle treaty and trade as a single entity with other countries. But other than the powers expressly given to the federal government by the States agreeing to participate, all other powers were suppose to be left to the State.

It was suppose to be up to the States to decide what form of government they wanted to have as long as they worked within the framework of the constitution. If a State wants to be socialist, there is nothing in the constitution that prohibits it. So, that brings us back to the original question, why the walls? All you have to do is look at the more socialist states in this country to find they answer, because without the walls, when socialism gets too burdensome on it’s citizens, and it always does, if they can, the citizens will flee.

So please, tell me, what is so wonderful about a system of government that can only survive by building walls to keep people in?
  • exports
I think our largest export will soon be jobs.
  • what is made in USA
This is a little off subject but I'm sure someone can enlighten me.Question: If all the manufacturing jobs and hi-tech jobs are outsourced out of the country then how is the USA the largest comsumer of oil and natural resources in the world? We don't make anything anymore so WTF are we using so much oil and energy on? It can't all be fuel for cars and home airconditioning?
  • Meeting of the Big Money
Last month, Bill Gates, Oprah and many other of the country's biggest billionaires met I believe in New York. I know technically Bill is out of Microsoft's day to day running but I'm sure that meeting yielded information that is also part of this decision.
  • Microsoft
Simple solution for a socialist Democrat government. The Government will levy additional punitive taxes against Microsoft or any other large company who moves employees, jobs or factories overseas to reduce their expenses due to the tax code. IF they can fonfiscate executive pay bonuses, they can do this.
  • go to a business friendly jurisdiction
Ballmer knows the effects of the "Change we can believe in." Obamanomics is making it too expensive to conduct business in the US. Why do you think that most of the investment and growth of US companies is happening outside of the US? One reason is because the US taxes its citizens and corporations on worldwide income. (If you don't believe me, go read the inside of your US Passport.) For example if a XYZ corp, (based in the US) makes 100K dollars selling tools in the Dominican Republic, then XYZ has to pay Dominican taxes, which it should, but XYZ also has to pay US taxes on that income as well. The US is one of the few countries in the world that does this.

This socialism/fascism, that Obama is implementing, will indeed cause more US companies and jobs to move out of the US.
  • This is their plan...
This is all part of the NWO plan. Right now it would make more sense than ever to lower taxes and shrink government, but that is not what they are doing. They are purposely increasing the size of government and shrinking the size of the private sector. Furthermore the fed is purposely trying to drive large corporations out of the country because soon this country will be dead in the water. Those corporations are also in on this scheme. They needed an excuse like this to move out of the country cause they know all too well the NWO agenda. Once you see some of the giants in this country leave and the commercial market literally fall apart I am sure the skeptics will finally realize that the people that have talked about the New World Order for so long were correct. It is so funny how this whole thing has played out. Alot of people don't realize that this a carefully thought out scheme. It cannot be done quickly or else everything will fail. It must be done slowly and then all at once while the country is weak the final pushes are made and it is done. Well people we are here. These are the final pushes. We are not pushing back and they know now that they have won. How does that make you feel?
  • Berlin Wall....
    Yes an economic Berlin Wall is certainly the next step. If Obama's plans and policy were so great then why would he have to try and trap people into them. Is there really a point in calling it the U.S.A anymore, that country(created by the US constitution) I guess technically doesn't exist anymore no? There is maybe some hope though...maybe Boortz can start to put his money where his mouth is on the subject of liberty and personal freedom by supporting Ron Paul's son;
