  • Poster/T-shirt
Would like a poster or t-shirt. Are they available? (To raise money for the fair tax movement, of course!)
  • fair tax
In 2002 or 2003 I heard Boortz cite Frank Chodorov's 1954 polemic The Income Tax: Root of All Evil, 1 of the greatest libertarian books ever. Reading this book in late 1985 led directly to my joining of the fine old right organization the Liberty Amendment Committee in early 1986. The sound rationale of these vehicles is the imperativeness of repealing income tax altogether & re-placing it with NOTHING so government is constrained to continue with markedly less revenue & federal budgets can be balanced at permanently LOWER spending levels. Why would Boortz after proving he GRASPS the vital point then favor a tax scheme intended to net the rapacious federal government as much revenue as it gets now & which would be rigmarolishly bureaucratic besides? Outright income tax repeal has been a staple of anti-welfare state doctrine since Willis Stone first conceived of the liberty amendment in 1949; Boortz has been on the air since 1969 & I am willing to bet he never pushed the liberty amendment or the Liberty Amendment Committee given the fact he cited Frank Chodorov & his book The Income Tax: Root of All Evil early this decade as if he had just learnt of them. Could simple income tax repeal be among the things Boortz opposes contrary to much of his listenership & in the teeth of generally understood libertarian thought? There is a wide gap separating on 1 side the convictions, concerns & aims of the populist old right & Boortz on the other. The issue of income tax & its proper disposition are a stark index of the gap's measure to Boortz' dis-credit. The fair tax is sub-optimal even if it is any good at all which is dubious. Had the liberty amendment since it was introduced in the congress in 1952 got the attention, resource, discussion, effort & funding the fair tax so far has, all income taxes would have been repealed long ago. Boortz, if you preach laisser faire capitalism you must promote policy changes explicitly & firmly conducing thereto.
  • For all you FairTax Goons
As of yesterday, HR1207 "The Federal Reserve Transparency Act" just surpassed the minimum 218 Co-Sponsors needed to make a majority of the House and now has 222 Co-Sponsors!! The Fed is going to be SCREWED and you will get to keep your paychecks and not replace it with a FairTax. Read up on it at endthefed.us

When are you coming to Raleigh????
  • The poster
I agree the poster is great, I also would pay $20 to get a T-shirt of it.
Neal see if you can make it happen.
    Thanks
  • RE: Embedded Oil/Gas Taxes
The typical profit per gallon of gas at the pump is about 4 cents per gallon (2% ballpark).

The higher recent profits of oil companies (18% ballpark) are primarily the result from flipping back & forth between LIFO & FIFO conventions, depending on restocking costs--with a twist. They price all inventory on the EXPECTED COST of new inventory--not on the price paid for goods on hand. When crude prices are rising, they price all inventory based on expected LIFO. When crude prices are falling, they price all inventory based on FIFO. Volatile markets are boom times for oil companies.

Price spikes in crude in the U.S. are primarily the result of 3 factors: (1) Cartel manipulation of supply; (2) Poor government fundamentals (spending policy) devaluing the dollar; & (3) The extension of government policy to Fed policy, turning the dollar into a fiat currency.

Finally, despite what O'Reilly (an economic cretin) thinks, futures trading has no impact on spot prices; futures DERIVE their value FROM spot prices (hence the term "derivative").

Taxes certainly keep prices artificially high, but they are relatively static.
  • Embedded Oil/Gas Taxes
Does anyone know of a website that breaks down the price of gas into taxes at the pump, profits, and taxes at the oil rig and refinery? I have a hunch the taxes in the processing of oil are causing the gas prices to spike.
  • Good Luck w/the Rally
Here's hoping a huge response from the public will open the eyes of the current administration. Whether you agree w/Fair Tax or not, show up and be counted....that is unless you actually LIKE the direction the country is moving. Wish I could be there.
  • Poster
This poster is great! I'll post it everywhere in town!
  • Fair Tax Poster
That poster would make an awesome tee. I would gladly pay $20 for one. How 'bout it Neal?
  • fair tax unintended consequences
sadly the publicity and partial acceptance of the idea for the fair tax has allowed the dems to begin thinking about a great idea. Just implement the sales tax along with the income tax. It was a foregone conclusion the Fair tax will never fly and the constant discussion is going to ensure the worst possible outcome.
  • The Poster is better than the Book
I had to read the Fairtax book to see if I was missing anything. Nope.

It's a light read. I suggest a copy from the library rather than the bookstore. The whole first part of the book is just a basic primer on the tax system.

For some reason Boortz has a schoolgirl crush on this tax approach.
  • Poster
Ditto! I would love to have a copy of the Fairtax Penley? Please post or Boortz Blast us with how one can be obtained
  • Radical Fox News Event
Did we not already determine this was a Fox News sponsored event, just like CNN said about the No Tax rally’s?
  • poster
    Are copies available for purchase?
  • Natonal Sales Tax
just FYI, Neal, you did hear that the Fed wants to slap some variant of the Fair Tax on TOP of (not INSTEAD of) our income tax? Time for another Tea Party for Washington to ignore or make fun of.

*sigh* I'm just waiting for everything to implode. You know it's inevitable.
