Michelle Obama said something that I can agree with ... that struggling communities should not look to the government alone for help. Great. Let's throw some personal responsibility in there from time to time. But then she turns around and points out that the government just passed a government service law in order to put volunteers to work, and you should really take advantage of this.
Hmm. So on one hand you want communities to not look to the government, but then you want them to rely on a government law that provides volunteers. Maybe it's just me, but it shouldn't take a government law to encourage volunteerism.
Then she pulls out this line, "Washington can only do so much ... Communities are built and rebuilt by regular people." So just in case you were not aware, those people in Washington aren't regular people. Maybe they are, I don't know, above regular people?
