GLOBAL COOLING

You do know that in spite of all the leftist alarmism, the earth has been cooling for the past eight or so years, don't you? Well ... read this story. There's a graph in the story which shows solar activity decreasing for ... guess what? ... The last eight years. Somehow the anti-capitalist environmentalist moonbats don't seem to believe that decreasing or increasing solar activity can have anything to do with the temperatures on earth.

What others are saying

  • Climate Change and Solar Activity
Here's an article I found from a professional journal.
    http://www.stsci.edu/stsci/meetings/lisa3/beckmanj.html
  • We can increase efficiency and protect our environment without crippling our economy.
In fact, our technological progress and the research money that drives it is dependent on our economy, as some are about to learn. The natural drive to miniaturization and mobility is bringing the technological advances 'environmentalists'(who's good intention's aren't enough for me) claim to seek, but not if they jump the gun and cripple or wreck the economy. That's putting the wagon before the horse. Technological advances that increases efficiency by 99% will always sell themselves, unless the energy they save is less than the energy it takes.

There's nothing much we can do about our climate one way or another for the forseable future(we can't even model the weather yet, much less the climate). We will to adapt to climate changes, like we always have.
  • Climate Change
The Greenies out there have a keen understanding of the sun's effects on our climate. In the 70's they warned of an ice age. In 2000 they warned of global warming. Now, they have this new, catchy term we are all adopting called climate change. If there is too much rain, too little rain, its too hot or too cold, they can now blame climate change on man. It's the exact reason that the terminology has been changing. In a few more years they will say that their efforts to limit large vehicles or some other poop has reduced the temperature. If we get too cold, they will find some other gas to blame it on. Meanwhile, China and India will become industrial giants filling the air with smog that is outside of our control. The don't want to focus on the most likely cause of climate change, hydrogen gas.
  • Yeah, let's ignore the whole thing, then
Some scientists figured out how to make ordinary lightbulbs 100 times more efficient by hitting them with a laser. The technique works even through the glass on normal bulbs. It could be installed at the end of an assembly line right before a packing line, and cut the amount of energy wasted by lightbulbs by.. yep, 99%.

But let's ignore how much cheaper we could be living, how much money we could be spending on actual progress, how the budget would balance overnight if our national energy costs went down by a fraction of a percent... because the name "global warming" has been replaced by "climate change", and energy is only worth doing anything about if the reason to do it is called "global warming"
  • graph
Neal, I'm afraid you're misinterpreting that graph. Please understand that it shows the tail-end of the graph below it, the long-term sunspot cycle. It's been shown that climate change is not directly connected to that cycle, but that changes in solar activity which can affect the cycle that can affect Earth's temperature.
  • lava falls
Looks alot like Thunder River at Six Flags
  • Comments from the Usual Suspects
What is the over-under on how long it will take CopyLeft to tell us we are all just ignorant goons for not understanding that the science is "settled", how long before Ivan explains that there is a major conspiracy or T-Shirt Doctor to explain that it is all a plot by the military-bankers-corporations-government?
  • It's solved
Wow, now we don't have to worry about the globe anymore since the sun will never ever have any sunspot activity again.

Of course, the link between solar activity and global temperature is weak and has been proven to be unrelated to overall global warming. But anything that allows you to stick your fingers in your ears and scream, "Nananah, I dont' believe you." ...
  • That big fusion reactor we orbit, geology, and asteroids determine our climate.
The increased solar activity of the late 20th century was predicted. There were concerns over satelites, communications, and the power grid, in the US Military in the late '80s.

I figured out the global warming/climate change fraud early, I noticed two of the first global warming alarmists in the early 80's had written a paper I'd read about 10 years earlier on an impending ice age.

That made sense, if you look at a timeline of the ice ages, we're about due, but they were saying it was because of our industrial emissions blocking the sun to a tipping point. I was doubtful, because I knew the KGB seeded western 'environmental' groups with with millions to try to reduce our growth and industrial output. Brilliant subversion technique, btw, the groups cost little to start, nothing to maintain, because they feed off donations from western dupes and fellow travelers. They use those funds to attack, stall, and make prohibitavely expensive any industrial development, and they've been very effective, though they most often damage the environment worse than they help.

When these same two 'scientists' wrote a paper in the early 80's claiming our industrial and consumer emissions were now causing the opposite climatic effects, I knew theirs was a 'solution' in search of a problem. Lots of very respectable people who should know better fell for it.

People are starting to catch on, though the 'environmentalists' have smoothly shifted from global warming to "climate change," a self fulfilling prophecy.
  • yes we can
Enviro-geniuses, like Algore, conveniently fail to mention that the antarctic icecap has expanded by almost 1,000,000 sq km in the past 30 years, which is an increase in ice cover by over five times the area of Michigan.

Me? I'm looking forward to a cooler Earth. Georgia is just too farkin' hot. And if it gets too cold, I'll be glad to do my part in changing the climate by blasting the atmosphere with carbon.
  • Make up your mind
Neal, last year you were telling us the earth was warming because of solar flares. And your proof was that readings on Mars showed warming there. Now we've been cooling for the last eight years. Which is it?

I dont see the link................and I need to send this to the moonbats that dont look at this site.
  • global cooling...
8 years of global cooling ? Seems to coincide with the departure of Clinton/Gore from the White house.
    Less hot air prehaps ?
  • link?
    seems to be missing
  • article not available
Should not the hypertext link be in the reference? I would like to read the mentioned article.
  • Arg, where is the link?
Neil, where is the link? I was wanting to submit it to Fark to watch the zelots defend the farce that is AGW, but the link isn't there!
  • global cooling
    Where is the link?
  • Link
Neal, should there be a link for a story here?
  • You are hallucinating
There is no link to any article here. Allow me to suggest wattsupwiththat.com.
