FEARMONGERING ... YEP, THAT'S WHAT THE PRESIDENT CALLS IT

Just so you know, if you are opposed to Barack Obama's healthcare reform scam you may be using "scare tactics and fear-mongering." Yep. Obama says that "because these fear tactics have worked, things have kept getting worse."

So not wanting the government to be involved in my healthcare decisions suddenly makes me a fear-monger. Pointing out the absurd costs to the tax payers and the redistribution of wealth that is necessary to fund Obama's plan ... that makes me a fear-monger. Daring to suggest that healthcare is not a right, it is a privilege. Fear monger. Oh .. and warning people that Obama's massive government plan must, of necessity, result in the rationing of health care? That's fear mongering as well.

I have long thought that socialized medicine was inevitable in this country. What government wouldn't like to have this power over its people? You control someone's health care, you control that person. Now I'm wondering .. because of Obama's overreaching and haste, is it at all possible that the people of this country might actually wake up and turn against this life-destroying plan before its too late?

  • FEARMONGERING.?
so what do you call it when you fire the inspector general because you can..?or fire the president of gm.? or fly around in a private jet at the tax payers expense while criticizing others for doing the same.or send the thugs from the IRS after people for any and no reason.but youre buddies whom you elect to youre cabinet get free passes for doing a job which requires no real brain power.FEARMONGERING.. by the way the president fired the inspector general because the inspector general refused to allow stimulus funds to flow in the wrong direction. That direction being one of the presidents best friends.FEARMONGERING..??
  • To Writewinger
I have dozens of news stories that claim the contrary. There has been a campaign for implanting our children with the RFID chip for the past 6 years or so. The campaign has been ramping up lately now that Libs are back in control. I have seen 4 news pieces in the past 2 weeks on the subject. I have seen probably 30-40 news stories on it in the past 6 months. They claim it is a medical breakthrough. They are saying that your medical records can be backed up digitally on the device. Obama's new healthcare reform plan talks about digitizing your medical information. It is easy to connect the dots. Now back up your claim that I am wrong.
  • @God's Motive
"If you support Obama's healthcare schemes...you are all going to die."
You are mostly correct, but you left out one very important part. Let me rephrase it to show the whole truth.
"If you support Obama's healthcare schemes...WE are all going to die."
    @writewinger:
It's actually a plausible thought. PrezBO has already done several unconstitutional things, and they're bound to keep coming. Since when was intimidating GM's Rick Wagoner into resigning a constitutional move by the government?
  • RFID
"Tell me I'm wrong...I dare you."

    You're wrong
  • Fearmongerer
If you support Obama's healthcare schemes...you are all going to die.
  • Get ready...
Just wait until the campaign for injecting you with the RFID gets underway. The fearmongering will be incredible. I am actually interested to see what they come up with. I know they will make a big deal out of getting vaccinated really soon. They will scare people into going even though swine flu is considerably weak compared to the common flu. They won't move on the RFID chip until they start ironing out the fine details of Obamacare. They will slip the details of the RFID chip into the final legislation and mention it on several national TV shows and a few news publications so people will be prepared. When people get into the government healthcare plan they will find out that they will be required to get an implant. An implant that has many benefits and allows for Obamacare to meet any of their medical needs. It will be marketed as the next best thing. Tell me I'm wrong...I dare you.
  • Change...
Well, you reap what you sew. Someone voted this socialist “GOD” into office and all of his angles. Not I or anyone I know wanted the “CHANGE”. I literally want to know if we can have a re-count like in Iran because I smell a bad stench that will take years to get out of here. We are a country of sheep and Prezbo is coming with a sickle to run your life.

On the other hand, you have to admit Prezbo and his followers had their plan together to perfection. Where on this earth could a government be taken over without one gun being fired and over half of the population chanting “give me more CHANGE and please take care of me”!....Pathetic SHEEP.
  • Same old Republican issue
Republicans have been pushing government run health care for years. They want the government to copntrol abortions. Republicans should be supporting this
  • loo late
Debbie, its already to late. NY and CA are broke. the federal reserve is printing worse worthless money for them to pay their bills.
INFLATION going to rears its ugly head
  • fear mongering
It should be noted that claiming "unless we pass my plan, things are going to get worse" is also fear mongering.
  • can you 'member when.........................
I can remember the doc coming to our house and fixin' us up. he charged somewhere around $15 for the visit and before he left he had coffee and something to eat before he had to go fix someone else. I was born after ww2, quite awhile ago but........

where did those doc's go? did gubmint have something to do with their disappearance???

oh! I said 15 $'s not $17,000,000,000,000. of course that was when $15 was money...
  • Government Interference
I'm tired of being called names just because I don't agree with the socialists. I'm a "hater" or I'm "racist" if I didn't vote for Obama, now I'm a fear monger if I don't believe the government interference is a good thing.

Our people need to wake up and smell the coffee - the less government involvement in our finances especially is the way to go. I fear that by the time people figure that out it will be too late.
  • Call it
Let him call it what he wants. I get the feeling this thing will not fly- more and more each day are against this. There is a limit to Americans tolerance and having a hack tell them how to run their health is probably the limit.
  • yep
"socialized medicine is inevitable in this country" - true that, there's nothing we can do. Let's just try to force them to leave the private option - that's all we've got...
  • So much for the "post-partisan" politics promised by Obozo
Obama's a complete joke. Lies almost as effortlessly as Clinton, just isn't as good at it. The lies are as thick as crows on junebugs.
  • ABC TURNS PROGRAMMING OVER TO OBAMA; NEWS TO BE ANCHORED FROM INSIDE WHITE HOUSE
    Headline from Drudge
    http://www.drudgereport.com/flashaot.htm
  • fearmonger
its been done by both parties. with absolute effect
  • health care in America is not perfect
Jason, you said "Listen up to reality folks: sure, the health care in America is not perfect. In fact, when you look at it, a lot of the run away costs are BECAUSE of government."
you can say that for the canada or the british health care systems too.
  • Republicans use scare tactics?
What about the "if we fail to pass this 787 Billion Dollar stimulus package, our economy will fail" nonsense. I suppose that wasn't fearmongering, just the sobering reality. Well President Ofraudya, this is just the sobering reality of what will happen if we pursue government-run healthcare. Oh, and the main difference between Conservative and Socialist "fearmongering"- Conservative fearmongering is based on fact and logic. Need proof? Europe is starting to realize that they cannot sustain healthcare as it is.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!!!! You need government run healthcare.
  • solutions to health care
First, there is no constitutional authority of the government over health care. There is no constitutional obligation to provide health care.

Second, I think we should focus on some meaningful health care reforms to free up our doctors from the high costs and time consumed from the legal system which rewards ambulance chasers. The current govt health care programs are now a big drag on medical services as they require reams of paperwork, are slow in paying for services and pay at lower rates than a private citizen gets.

We need to focus on solutions to the perceived problem.

It also bothers me whenever Obama says "doing nothing is not an option."

In every logical analysis, the "do nothing" option always is valuable. Doing nothing would have been better for the banks, auto industry, insurance industry, drug programs and more.

The constitution clearly states our government should DO NOTHING except where it has clear authority in defending our nation and a few other National issues.

I like the DO NOTHING response because we the people can DO for ourselves!

  • medical speding
As long as medical providers are forced to practice defensive medicine, costs are going to continue to rise. Doctors are not perfect, but consumers expect perfection. Anytime results are less than perfection, lawsuits follow. As long as third parties are paying, such as government or private insurance companies, they get to make the final decision about care. Pay your doctor directly, and watch your costs drop. A large part of the cost of healthcare is paid to administration to track claims, resolve disputes, figure and collect copays, etc. If we handled food distribution the way medical payments are handled, your groceries would cost thousands. But, you go to the store of your choice, select the groceries you desire, and pay for them. No getting prior approval from the third party that will be paying for them, figuring a percentage that is to be paid before consumption, and then getting a bill 60 or 90 days later for the balance not covered. Stop surrendering control of your life to others!!!
  • Cutting Costs in Health Care
Fewer doctors are entering the field as family practice physicians. The doctors know that they could specialize for a year or two and make much more money. (often twice as much with fewer hours worked) The decrease in supply results in higher prices.

States and Federal Government are now mandating aspects of coverage. This means less specific, tailored health insurance. This costs more.

An increasing portion of the hospitals are not receiving (full) payment for services rendered. I think I remember seeing that some hospitals never see payment from 30% or more of their emergency care. (especially from those without insurance, credit cards, or accurate contact information) Those who do have money end up paying more as a result.

There are now more lawyers and lawsuits than in the past. Some of these are frivolous and some result in outrageous settlements. Even valid lawsuits result in a cost for doctors and medical malpractice insurance, driving up the cost for others.
  • Cutting Costs On Health Care
“You won’t fundamentally solve the problems in business until you solve the problem of spiraling health-care costs, which is driving everybody crazy,” he added.

When I saw this quote (someone in Obama administration, I believe) I thought that someone should identify the costs. This type of focus may help reduce costs more effectively than government mandates. Sometimes, fear is a valid motivational tool (fear of starvation may help you get yourself to work in the morning).

I'm going to mention some fundamental economics as I understand them (supply, demand, etc.).

How much does health insurance (or health payment/spending plan, as some people use it) cost? If you get a generic family plan from Blue Cross I think this is about $1,000 per month or $12,000 a year. This seems like a convenience for the families who really should just be buying emergency care insurance. Do people realize that insurance is just legalized gambling? Insurance companies are "the house", while the person buying the insurance is "betting to get sick" or "betting to have house damage".

I remember someone mentioning that half of all health care expenditures occur in the last 6 months of a person's life. Perhaps we should focus on their being comfortable as they pass even if people pass more quickly rather than wasting money on prolonging someone's suffering.

People are living longer. As a result, people have more time to get sick and spend more money throughout their lives on health care. I believe the vast majority of medical spending is on the elderly, which is a growing population. This tends to be expensive care, often funded through the government (Medicare/Medicaid). I see far too many people riding in their wheelchair-like scooters when they should probably be getting the exercise of walking.

Also, many people jump to take their children to the doctor when the child has a little sniffle. More people currently have health insurance than 20 or 30 years ago. People with health insurance are more likely to go to the doctor. This increased demand results in higher prices and possibly lower quality of care. Mandating price results in reduced supply and/or decreased quality. Mandating universal coverage results in decreased quality and/or increased price.
  • amazing...
the fear mongerer accuses others of fear mongering. Who knew that wanting the president of America to follow the actual American rule of law, meant you were fear mongering.
  • Are we killing the goose that laid the golden egg?
Cuba, Britian, Canada. Need I say more? Have we so quickly forgotten the bird flu, swine flu? Who did the world turn to for answers? It sure wasn't NOW but the US's very own CDC.
  • To Copyleft
"And besides, it's not like national healthcare's opponents have anything better to offer. All they HAVE is fearmongering. And, as the Republican Party has learned, it's not enough to just gripe and throw stones... you have to have a better idea to offer in its place."

That has worked out great so far hasn't it? You do realize that we are way worse off now than at any time under Clinton or Bush right? Nothing the Obama administration has done a bit of good for the economy. We are still completely screwed.
  • Just the Facts
AM radio reported this morning that many VA patients have contracted blood-borne diseases, including Hep B & C and AIDs, thanks to shoddy sanitary practices used for PROCTOLOGICAL exams. In other words, the VA has been scoping the bowels of its patients with dirty scopes and given them AIDS.

This is the face of Nationalized Health Care. But as it was reported on AM radio, it is sure to be dismissed by the Mainstream Media as fear mongering.

Just pray you don't get sick in the not-too-distant future. Or if you do, let's hope you have worked out a deal with the local undertaker. No point in donating your organs; the recipient will not survive the post-op infection.
  • The best part has yet to come...
ABC News will be reporting from the White House on June 24th. Check it out on Drudge. Scary times guys. The media is already aligning behind nationalized healthcare. It is only a matter of time. Are you ready for your chip? They are probably out there right now mass producing RFID chips for the dumb masses after they shove this healthcare reform down our throats.
  • As usual
The lefties ignore the alternate proposals offered up by the opposition.

And once again the Obama administration has chosen to ignore the CBO (which has been right in every instance so far this year).

"net increase in federal budget deficits of about $1.0 trillion over the 2010-2019 period. When fully implemented, about 39 million individuals would obtain coverage through the new insurance exchanges. At the same time, the number of people who had coverage through an employer would decline by about 15 million (or roughly 10 percent), and coverage from other sources would fall by about 8 million, so the net decrease in the number of people uninsured would be about 16 million or 17 million."

Wow a trillion to benefit 17 million. That's $58823 per person. And what about the remaining 22 million (39-17)???

This is a TERRIBLE plan. And yes, there are others out there.

  • If it isn't broken
...don't fix it. This is just another left wing conspiracy to try to gain more and more control over your lives. I have never had any problem seeing a doctor and do not consider our healthcare system in need of any repair. Those of us who cannot afford health insurance because they choose to spend their money on beer, drugs, cell phones, and big screen TVs can still receive medical care at the local emergency room.
  • 'Fearmongering'
Rule #1 - Any criticism of King Hussein is to be defined as 'hate speech'

Rule #2 - There are no additional Rules
  • Scare Tactics
It's not fear-mongering or scare tactics if it's true. It's a warning. Wake up people.
  • Why is PresBO afraid of fear mongering?
Could it be that those fears are REAL fears and that his wunnerful plan does NOT address those fears but instead intensify them? Say it isn't so, Copyleft
  • Guilty!
Obama and his cronies will "tax most of us out of existence!" There! Health care problem solved!
  • Can't happen
I can't understand why this even has a chance to succeed with the Governments track record. Anything they control becomes corrupt and mismanaged: Medicare, Social Security, The VA and, if they succeed, Government Controlled Healthcare. I agree that healthcare costs are spiraling out of control but Government ownership is not the answer. It's failed miserably in any other country that's tried or is currently using it and with the amount debt this country has this is only going make things much, much worse. Wise up people and tell your congressmen to toss this out like so much other worthless garbage.
  • FreedomCare
With government run Social Security going broke and medicare broken. Prezbozo wants to fix something that isn't broken. Change you can believe in!
  • FEARMONGERING
For the last 37 years, I have had private insurance. During this time, part of the time I have paid my own premiums, and part of the time my employer paid them. I have always picked my own doctors and hospitals. I always received the treatments, surgeries, and prescriptions my doctor thought I required, never turned down or waited once for approval. I have been very pleased with the health care my insurance provided, and I don't want the Federal Government screwing with what I have. Now tell me Copy, why is this Fearmongering, and what is broken with the system?
  • Fearmongering II
First of all, pot calling the kettle black there, Mr. O. (oops, is that a racial remark???)
    Next:
Any efforts to undo, change, or eliminate MY current healthcare situation does scare me - know why? Cause IT WORKS. Selfish of me? Why yes, I believe it is. So sue my ass.
  • Sociopath
The Kenyan Sociopath is at it again. Fearmongering? For the love of sweet baby Jesus, that is all HE and libs do on EVERY issue. That is their expertise - creating imaginary villains and crises and making people clamor to them for help. How can he say this with a straight face?

He said with GM, "We don't want to be in the business of running auto companies....", right after he fired the CEO, set fuel standards, told them what cars to build, what investors to get paid back, etc.!

Now, he says the same thing yesterday about healthcare, "We don't want gov't to run healthcare..." WTF!!!!!!!!!
  • Fearmongering?
If we congress doesn't pass Obama's bill today, the world will end (and the poor will be hit the hardest). Anyone who says any different is fearmongering. This is not the first time he's talked out of both side of his mouth. He's quadrupling the deficit, but he wants paygo.
  • Liberalism at its finest hypocrisy moment
CopyWrong continues to be the dribbling stinkin' libtard troll as per usual. Listen up to reality folks: sure, the health care in America is not perfect. In fact, when you look at it, a lot of the run away costs are BECAUSE of government. But don't tell that to moronic libtards like CopyWrong.

Second, that 46 million that are uninsured you always here the bed wetting libtard Neo-Marxists whine about? About 17 million of them CAN afford health insurance and choose not to, another 15 million are estimated to be illegal immigrants, and finally, the remaining 14 million are truly in need of some plan.

Now let's get this straight about the mindset of libtardism on gubment run health care: destroy all private businesses that comprise 1/8th of the US economy and turn it over to the wonderful, highly efficient and competent government (and yes, bed wetters, we know the military, cops, firemen, etc. are government - grow up for once in your wretched lives) just to help the 7% who truly deserve an assistance plan is NOT the answer.

Finally, some jackass libtard like CopyWrong must have been brain absent (like so many other libtards) during the last 8 years of fear mongering over Bush & Cheney - and it is STILL going on.
  • FEARMONGERING ... YEP, THAT'S WHAT THE PRESIDENT CALLS IT
At least he's not claiming it's "racist" or invoking that old leftist chestnut, "... for the chillldren!".

  • Fearmongering
You can count on it in this healthcare debate... and from the usual suspects that engaged in such hysterical and prolonged fearmongering the LAST time healthcare reform was discussed. The insurance industry and the AMA most of all.

Fearmongering is inevitable--just like those "Harry and Louise" commercials in the early nineties that the insurance scammers used to mislead people about the "horrors" of national healthcare.

But it's okay. Maybe our healthcare system has finally gotten SO broken, SO obviously in need of repair, that America will tune out the fearmongers, as they did last fall.

And besides, it's not like national healthcare's opponents have anything better to offer. All they HAVE is fearmongering. And, as the Republican Party has learned, it's not enough to just gripe and throw stones... you have to have a better idea to offer in its place.
  • I see......
Only Obama is allowed to use scare tactics to push his agenda.
