It happened last night. There was debate on the floor of the House over some amendments to a spending bill. The amendments were offered by Republicans and concerned funding for ACORN and an investigation into Nancy Pelosi's problems with the CIA.

As I understand the story, the Democrats announced that there would be no more votes that evening, and Republicans started heading home. When enough Republicans were gone the Democrats headed back to the House floor and called for a vote to end debate on all amendments to the spending bill. Republicans scrambled to get back into the House, but it was too late. Democrats saved Pelosi and ACORN with their little chicanery. For now.

  • I stopped calling their people and party "Democratic" long ago.
    It's countless stunts like this one that made me realize the Democrats are not democratic -- except when it happens to be convenient to their will. (Remember the Dems'"Count every vote"[but not those darn absentees!] in Florida, 2000?) Otherwise they see it as nuisance. So, I reserve the use of "democratic" for things democratic, and use the adjective "democrat" for the political party or members of it. The Democrat senator, the Democrat party... etc.

    How many "R"s need to be in the room to have a Quorum?
    I remember the trick the "D"s pulled in the Texas state house, by not showing up.
    Maybe "R"s should not show up until the amendment process is opened back up?

    That link proves Neal's story to be inaccurate and untrue. Neal claims the trick saved Pelosi from being investigated. All that story says (did you guys read it????) is the Dems pulled this trick to get around the philibustering that the GOP was attempting with their many, many amendments -- pointless crap like not passing this bill unless it also includes money spent investigating Pelosi's claim that the CIA misled her. Now there's a good use of our money. That amendment never should and never was going to pass and the GOP knows it – they just wanted to use it and other amendments as delay tactics.

    SFC MAC – Someone posting a link after the fact that is quasi-related is not the same thing as doing your homework. Better hold onto that dunce cap, buddy.

    This kind of crap happens when Democrats or Republicans are in control. This is just another glaring example of how both parties are interested in preserving the power of the party and not acting in the interest of the people. This is not a Democrat or Republican issue, it is another wake-up call that the government is not interested in preserving the rights and powers of the individual. And what's up with these guys always tacking on side bills/laws onto budget and spending bills? Why not individual bills for up or down votes?

    Very good point about the Federal Reserve Act. I wonder who knew back then what the Federal Reserve would become? I bet noone knew that they would ultimately be in complete control of the United States and the World. There are only 2 organizations in this country that frighten me and those 2 are the Federal Reserve and the NSA. These two entities are literally imune to all laws in this country except for ones that specifically mention the organizations by name. What would blow the minds of most that frequent this board is just how close the relationships are of the Federal Reserve, our National Security Agencies, and our huge defense contractors (Lockheed Martin and etc.). They have also formed a very questionable alliance with the likes of the Bilderberg Group, Trilateral Commission, and the Council on Foreign Relations. Of course the reasoning for this should be obvious. These groups have important agendas that requires that they use the strong arm of the United States military to leverage what they need from foreign nations. If they will not give us what we want we will take it. That is what America's foreign policy has become.

    These politicians have VERY important agendas handed to them by the elites in control of our government. They must complete their marching orders. They know they will have opposition so they must use whatever means they have at their disposal. This is not politics as usual. We are getting very close to their endgame. Timing is very important to them.

    Wow, look at the lemmings racing over the edge with Boortz. Neal's claim isn't true and I suspect he knows it.

    This is the second time the GOP has tried to vote on investigating Pelosi and the vote this time (247-171) was about the same as the last (252-172). The GOP didn't have the votes. Period. Democrats didn't have to trick them.

    Are all of you so eager to bash Democrats that you ignored Neal's #1 rule about not believing him without independent confirmation? What a bunch of suckers!!!!

  • Where's the link?
    No offense, Neal, but this sounds suspicously like the emails I got a while back telling me that a court had ordered the release of Obama's college records, and those records showed he received financial aid as a foreigner. It was plausible, but turned out to be false.

    Where's the link to a news story or other credible source indicating that this may be true?
